“Lil Rekk is only getting more popular with each video that he drops and while he is sitting atop the New York underground scene at the moment it is only a matter of time until he is pushed into the mainstream’s focus.” – Lyrical Lemonade
Born on October 2, 2000, Tyreke Curry is a professional rapper originating from Philadelphia. Commonly known in the music industry as Lil Rekk, Tyreke started his career at 17. The now 20-year-old artist released his debut mixtape The Graduation, in 2018. His bass-throbbing single off of this mixtape Rock Out garnered a lot of attention both from teenagers and adults. In the same year, Lil Rekk released his music video for Rock Out, with Brodinski as producer. It had more than one million views on Youtube. Three months after releasing the music video for “Rock Out,” Rekk released his “Drip” music video which had over 250,000 views. Lil Rekk signed to Platinum Recording Artist A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Highbridge The Label and went on to perform in several venues all over the country at the start of his career. He would get the crowd moving despite his small stature― something most teenagers could not do back then.
During his early days as a rapper, Lil Rekk was juggling high school and music. It was tough, but Lil Rekk graduated and started college after his debut mixtape came out. He draws his music inspiration from several artists including Drake, Lil Wayne, Boogie, Lil Durk, and Lil Baby. He also listens to music from the 70s and 80s, combining a classic R&B and Soul sound with modern day Hip-Hop.
In 2019, Lil Rekk released “Prada U,” which garnered over 200,000 views. Late last year he released a music video for Manhattan Vibes. It is approaching 2 million views on YouTube and 700,000 listens on Spotify. His full-length album World Plus was released earlier this year. It featured Manhattan Vibes, Drive Me Crazy, and Jungle, among other hits. Lil Rekk has also collaborated with other well-known artists like Dallah, Trap Manny, Stunna Gambino, and YXNG K.A. His song Backstabbers was released in June 2021 and had over a million views on Youtube just within a month. Lil Rekk is currently working on his 1ONE mixtape, coming January 14th via Highbridge The Label/EMPIRE.
