“6 dogs is the new hook god”The FADER

“6 Dogs has been an enigma since he burst onto the SoundCloud scene early this. At first, his voice was puzzling, as new an experience as hearing Lil Yachty for the first time, but as take the quick dive into his still-tiny catalogue, everything starts to click. His song ā€œFaygo Dreamsā€ā€”produced by Pretty Paccā€”has been inescapable on SoundCloud, propelling him to plays at Travis Scott shows” –Ā Complex

About

Chase Amickā€™s core belief was that the world was inherently good and beautiful. He wanted to change the world for the better, to showcase the light thatā€™s present in all of us. He used his music and art as a vehicle to help people who he thought needed it, who faced the same battles that he did. On January 26th, 2021, Chase passed away. He left behind a uniquely impactful legacy of nostalgia and joy.

His upcoming independent album is entitled RONALD, which is his real first name. He went by his middle name, and his friends and his fans knew him as Chase. This project represented a new direction, rebirth, evolution, and hope for a bright future.Ā Executive produced by Daniel Hartzog at the Airwaves Atlanta studio in Atlanta, the project is meant to, in his words, let people feel their sadness, sit with it, and then embrace happiness and the inherent beauty of life. It was very important to him that the album be accessible to everyone, which is why itā€™s not explicit save one guest verse on one song. He worked on it with his team for close to 7 months, going through a name change (originally titled Wavebuilderā€™s Club) and myriad iterations of the tracklist, before settling on the final form of the album that was delivered to be distributed. The album is, in its entirety, unaltered from Chaseā€™s original vision.

Early Life / Childhood
Chase Amickā€™s core belief was that the world was inherently good and beautiful. He wanted to change the world for the better, to showcase the light thatā€™s present in all of us. He used his music and art as a vehicle to help people who he thought needed it, who faced the same battles that he did. On January 26th, 2021, Chase passed away. He left behind a uniquely impactful legacy of nostalgia and joy.

Chaseā€™s life began in a woody neighborhood in north-central Georgia, where he spent his early years climbing trees and loving nature, rarely wearing shoes while he, his cousin, and sister explored the surrounding wilderness.

As he got older his love for nature and the outdoors remained, and he began to expand his interests to art and pop culture, with manga, anime, and other cartoons becoming hugely influential to his creative output as 6 Dogs.

Creative Development / Artistic Influences / Mental Health
Although known primarily for his music, he was a multifaceted creative who was a gifted painter and fashion designer. He would make paintings for people and give them away constantly; all of his friends and family have something he made, whether itā€™s a landscape of cartoon faces on the interior of their car or a painting hanging behind studio monitors.

He aspired to be known and respected in the art world, and deeply admired Takashi Murakami. Japanese Contemporary was a specific style that he resonated with and would use as inspiration for his work.

He was heavily influenced by artists like Slug Christ, Coldhart, Father, Lil Peep, Yung Lean, and Kid Cudi. 6 Dogs would spearhead an entirely new genre of music, going on to play an incredibly important role as a leader of the 2016 era SoundCloud explosion, and as an artist whose sound continues to impact other creatives across the world.

Chase embraced a mantra of overwhelming positivity. He often struggled with depression and bipolar disorder, but refused to let those things dictate his life. He made it a personal mission to be a light and a guide for other people who were going through similar experiences, and to show everyone that there is always room for hope. ā€œFear or faithā€ is a phrase he used, and he chose to embrace faith, both in himself and in God, as a means to overcome and succeed.

Career
Everything 6 Dogs represented rapidly became a haven for an entire generation of people who felt connected to his message. Soon after his first song Demons in the A began to gain steam on SoundCloud, his song Flossing was posted on the popular cloud rap YouTube channel Astari, and it became an overnight sensation.

In July 2017, 6 Dogs released the single Faygo Dreams on SoundCloud. In the song caption he wrote:

ā€œthis song will get 1 million plays in 4 months because positivity always wins. but fr next song will be even biggerā€

He reached that goal and more; Faygo Dreams is currently certified RIAA Gold and has a combined 200 million streams across DSPs, and the song would launch him into the stratosphere of the music industry.

Capturing fans with deceptively complex lyrics and vulnerability, he began fielding offers from record labels, ultimately signing with Mad Love / Interscope Records under Benny Blanco. During his tenure at Interscope he released a number of records, notably Buttcheeks and Off the Gas (feat. Lil Skies).

He was released on good terms from his label obligation in April of 2019, and would go on to release his next work independently.

Upcoming Project RONALD
His upcoming independent album is entitled RONALD, which is his real first name. He went by his middle name, and his friends and his fans knew him as Chase. This project represented a new direction, rebirth, evolution, and hope for a bright future.

Executive produced by Daniel Hartzog at the Airwaves Atlanta studio in Atlanta, the project is meant to, in his words, let people feel their sadness, sit with it, and then embrace happiness and the inherent beauty of life.
