About

Forget about the stigmas, labels, ideologies and pre-determinations of today’s Hip-Hop artist, because when you meet Kelow LaTesha, none of the industry standards need apply. Born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C., Kelow’s spark to be a creator happened when she was young. She credits her time spent watching DC area artists on basic cable as something that planted a seed, leaving an ever-lasting impression early on.

Growing up, she stood out as a tomboy who didn’t quite fit in with everybody else, because she isn’t everybody else; she is something special. As a kid who loved to paint, listen to rap music and play sports, she shied away from continuously trying to be a part of the in-crowd and quickly learned the lessons of self-acceptance in her youth. Realizing her ability to create, being comfortable with who she was helped spawn her talents and fueled the fire to continue pursuing her dream of one day making it big.

Once she hit High School, LaTesha got her practice in, showing off her skills at local open mic events at staples like Everlasting Life Restaurant & Lounge and Spit Dat. While honing her craft, she spent her time with friends, partying and gaining life experiences for the pictures she would go on to paint in her music that would eventually put her on the map.

Fresh out of High School in 2012, Kelow started to take her artistry more seriously. She started releasing new music online, with her EPs Colored Pencils and Stixxx-n-Stonez at the forefront, getting her noticed in and out of the country. While she was opening up for Iggy Azalea at home, she was also growing a cult following in Sweden after her music caught the attention of some of their bigger websites. This opened up a new lane for her in the Scandinavian country, which ultimately set up shows overseas.

When the she returned back home, she realized the impact her music was having, and while her fanbase began to grow, so did Kelow. The result was new concepts, carried with an unmatched charisma that can be found on her singles, “Finna” & “JigglyPuff”. These two songs were brought to life on her acclaimed Amethyst Stoner project, an homage to her February birthstone and her love for green.

Coming off of the success of the release, with loyal YouTube subscribers in-tow, she linked with Lil’ Uzi Vert for a remix of “Finna”, helping continue to spread the Maryland native’s name in a talent pool that was not only accepting of her creativity, but was eagerly anticipating her next move.

After releasing some singles over the coming years and continuing her run of shows, opening up for the likes of Metro Boomin and others, she brought us her latest body of work, TSA in 2019. Much like her previous releases, the project took on a life of its own, shifting her from one of the DMV’s best kept secrets, onto the radar of labels, media outlets and a continuously growing following.

Expect more of the unexpected and projects that are unapologetically her. With a presence that demands attention, Kelow will gain your respect whether you give it to her, or she has to take it.
