Avril Lavigne, Bo Burnham, and Gucci Mane Lead The Week in TikTok Trends

Press Release

Avril Lavigne, Bo Burnham, and Gucci Mane Lead The Week in TikTok Trends

06.30.2021

TikTok Treats, Week of June 28th

The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. The platform’s taste in music is as diverse as its community, with recent trends coming from the worlds of trap music, glitch hop, dembow, pop-punk, and Italian rock music. Take a look at some stories that made noise in recent days on TikTok’s rich pageant:

  • Avril Lavigne’s pop-punk opus “SK8TER BOI” has often been a song of choice for the thrashers of TikTok, but it reached another level last week when Avril posted her first TikTok. Recruiting the world’s pre-eminent skater boy Tony Hawk, Avril turned back the clock to 2002, rocking her iconic loosely-tied tie before passing the baton to Hawk, who demonstrates that he still has half-pipe heat. Avril’s video racked up over 26.5 million views, and spurred renewed interest in “SK8TER BOI” across the platform (25k video creations).
  • Latin music has a large and growing audience on TikTok and “Fulanito,” a new single by of Becky G and El Alfa, is making major waves on the platform. The high-energy track lends itself perfectly to a new dance trend, created by the dynamic sibling duo @lossiblings_, which has helped catapult the sound to over 450k creations. “Fulanito” and its accompanying dance has been used to add a unique bounce to a variety of videos. Creators have used it when dancing with mom, dancing in the airport, or even offering inspiration for better organization. A popular figure on TIkTok with over 11 million followers, Becky G saluted the dance’s creators on her own page, and used the duet feature to show those participating in the dance challenge tons of love.
  • Trap music legend Gucci Mane’s  song “Addicted” came out in 2016, but the song is getting new life, thanks to creators on TikTok. Inspiring over 319.2K+ creations, with the vast majority coming in recent days, creators have been using the opening line “Hi my name is Gucci Mane, I’m addicted to everything,” to let the world know about the top four things they can’t live without. While some creators speak for themselves and their travel obsession, others speak for their stomach that always causes them problems or their adorable babies who are obsessed with tummy rubs.
  • Musical comedy sensation Bo Burnham is a digital native, building an audience with his hilarious songs and short-form jokes on Vine and YouTube before becoming a respected stand-up comic and film director. It should be no surprise, then, that he has a huge following on TikTok, where his fans have eagerly posted videos soundtracked to songs from his recent Netflix special Inside. A satirical ode to the Amazon CEO, Burnham’s song “Bezos!” (12k combined video creations) is the ideal soundtrack to moments where you maximize your earning potential, or you find an Amazon driver determined to deliver a package come hell or high water. His song “All Eyes On Me” (54k video creations) caused TikTok users to ponder their place in the cosmos, and bemoan their overeager immune systems. The third song to receive traction is “White Woman’s Instagram,” in which self-deprecating TikTok users comment on their own social media clichĂ©s. One user, however, flipped the script, using the sound to comment on stereotypical photos on a white man’s social media profile.
  • Rock band MĂ„neskin became a global sensation when they won Eurovision 2021, representing their native Italy. They’ve made a global impact on TikTok as well, generating hundreds of thousands of video creations with multiple songs. TikTok creators have used Eurovision-winning song “Zitti E Buoni” in over 130k videos, and their single “I Wanna Be Your Slave” inspired over 116k video creations, including some from TIkTok users shocking their parents with the song’s libidinous lyrics. Even bigger on the platform is their song, “Beggin,” which has racked up over 2.8 million video creations, with creators using the sound to back up everything from unexpected feats of strength, to effects-laden tributes to the Disney+ show Loki. Meanwhile, MĂ„neskin the band is riding high, with over 2.9 million TikTok followers, posting clips from their performances and even revealing a “work in progress” song for their fans. With three songs in the Spotify Global Top 50, including “Beggin” at #6, MĂ„neskin is poised to dominate the rock music world, on and off TikTok.
  • Rising artist Luci4’s music exists far outside the mainstream, but his high-tempo, distorted electronic “Kurxxed Emeraldz” (82.3K+ creations) has caught fire on TikTok with a new trend that emphasizes “glitching.” Created by @glitchgirlmaster, the trend consists of users moving and dancing as they attempt to hit all the stuttering beats in the track and provide a visual glitch effect with their movements. A fast rising trend, there are now creators who call themselves “glitch couples,” creators who “glitch” as they wonder why they can’t act like a baby in public, and others who still haven’t quite figured out how to catch the beat on the track to “glitch” yet.

Last week, Ed Sheeran hosted a TikTok LIVE concert during the UEFA Euro 2020 soccer tournament, performing his hits, along with his new single “Bad Habits.” The superstar British singer drew over 5.5 million unique viewers, shattering the record for most-watched TikTok LIVE event. YN Jay Tells Freaky Tales on His ‘Coochie Chronicles’ Project

  • Press Release

YN Jay Tells Freaky Tales on His ‘Coochie Chronicles’ Project

    6.30.2021

Project: YN Jay – Coochie Chronicles

The Flint, MI-Area Rapper Known As The “Coochie Man” Brings the Tumbling Flows and Outrageous Punchlines That Only He Can Deliver

    Critical Praise:

“There is Bruce Wayne and Batman. Clark Kent and Superman. And now, YN Jay and the Coochie Man” – Pitchfork

“Flint, Michigan wouldn’t be one of the hottest scenes in rap without ‘Coochie,’ ‘Coochie World,’ ‘Coochie Scout,’ a mixtape titled Coochie Land, and Coochie Man, the floor-humping alter ego of YN Jay.” – Pitchfork

“‘Coochie’ is one of the funniest hip-hop videos of the last five years” – XXL

“The Flint native is one of the more eccentric rappers in Michigan, rapping about coochie, using very distinct ‘hold onnnnnnnnnnnnn’ ad-ibs, and starting off songs by asking the producer: ‘Why you always do that mannnnnnnn?’ I’m honestly not sure what these producers are doing while YN Jay is recording in the booth, but whatever it is, it’s working. The music is always wildly entertaining.” – Complex

“He raps in different voices, draws out words like they’re self-contained riddles. You never know if he’s entirely serious, but that’s the point.” – SPIN

    The Project:

Every superhero has an origin story, and Beecher, MI rapper YN Jay is no different. Exploring the continuing adventures of his alter ego, “Coochie Man,” Jay shares Coochie Chronicles, his latest project. With the help of innovative Flint-area producers like ENRGY and Marc Boomin–who combine wavy melodies with thudding 808s–Jay ushers listeners into his sex-crazed mind, wielding a slip-sliding, start-stopping flow as he unleashes a torrent of punchlines and outrageous boasts. Though he portrays himself as a larger-than-life figure, he takes time to open up about his past on songs like “Slow Motion, looking back at his life before his meteoric rise through the rap game and pondering what he’s lost along the way.

Coochie Chronicles is a creative high water mark for the Alamo Records signee, refining his winning formula and adding experimental touches, including auto-tuned flows on highlights like the single Ashtray and cartoonish ad-libs throughout. The project is home to the viral hit Triple S,” which inspired more than 500k video creations on TikTok, and its remix, which features a brand new verse from Coi Leray, the recent single Oxyyyyy,a paean to Jay’s favorite narcotic, and his signature song Coochie,” a collaboration with Jay’s close friend Louie Ray that has more than 29 million YouTube views. Featuring an additional appearance from Flint heavy-hitter Rio Da Yung OG, Coochie Chronicles is available everywhere via Alamo Records.

Driven to take rap seriously after his older brother died, YN Jay quickly started to build a reputation as one of the most colorful characters in a hometown Flint scene populated almost exclusively by colorful characters. He started to get mainstream notice with his single Coochie,” from his project Coochie Land, which introduced the world to Jay’s one-track mind and eventually racked up over 26 million YouTube views. Jay is a nearly mythic figure on TikTok, generating millions of video creations on viral hits like “Kakashi,” “Coochie Land,” and “Coochie Scout,” and inspiring TikTok comedian @Nuhchez to splice YN Jay’s voice into Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” and create one of the platform’s most successful running jokes. YN Jay’s inimitable style earned him co-signs from Drake and Lil Uzi Vert.

With the new Coochie Chronicles, YN Jay is looking to take his distinct strain of Michigan rap to national prominence. Hold onnnnnn…YN Jay is coming.

    The Background:

“It’s scary how easy it is for me to make music,” admits 21-year-old rapper YN Jay. This is true of his 2020 hit “Coochie” and the follow-up album Coochie Land. “It was made in three minutes, easily, and the video did 30 million views. I’ve been writing songs to go a certain way my whole life, but it never worked. Now, I’m not overthinking it, and it’s making me a star.” After over a decade at the mic, the Beecher, Michigan native has given rap fans an alternative to music about violence and drugs.

Amid his rise, Jay got cosigns from Drake and Lil Uzi Vert. While Drizzy and Jay are exploring music, he recorded extensively with Uzi. The same night the two discussed collaborating, Jay stopped everything to drive to Philly. “I pulled up; we did damn near eight songs.” One track, the “coochie”-inspired “HOLD ONNNNN,” promises to release during an exciting 2021. Fresh off of Ninja Warrior—an album featuring Lil Yachty and Sada Baby that he conceptualized and recorded in a single day, YN Jay recently signed a deal with Alamo Records and is focused on showcasing his versatility and staying power. “I’m working on a few albums and letting the world know how big this is. Anybody can be a rapper; I’m trying to catch the culture and update the game.”

5.5 Million Viewers: Ed Sheeran’s TikTok Show Breaks Records

    6.29.2021

Ed Sheeran TikTok Show Breaks Records With 5.5 Million Viewers

    The Announcement:

It’s official! Ed Sheeran has the broken the record for the biggest ever LIVE music performance on TikTok with over 5.5 million unique viewers watching the show across the live stream on Friday 25 and two replays on Saturday 26 June. The TikTok UEFA EURO 2020 show was staged at Portman Road, home stadium of Ed’s beloved Ipswich Town football club and streamed globally on his TikTok channel.

The groundbreaking performance was conceived and filmed specifically for the TikTok audience. From a bespoke stage designed and created to be native to vertical video, the show combined groundbreaking special effects, an on-stage mobile phone that Ed used to talk directly to the audience, as well as augmented reality that changed with each song and integrated with the backdrop of the football stadium. It was a performance that encapsulated both intimacy and scale, creating a unique moment that wowed millions in the TIkTok community. Acclaimed British Music Video Director Emil Nava and Music and Television Director Hamish Hamilton worked in partnership with TikTok, Atlantic Records, Ed’s management and the artist himself to produce the creative and technical spectacle, which also featured prominent TikTok creators Jeremy Lynch, Nathan Ramsay and Leticia Stock .

The show also included the live premiere of his new single “Bad Habits,” following an exclusive preview on TikTok the week before, which let fans create videos using a clip of the song. With over 400,000 creations using the sound since launch, it is now the biggest global song preview on TikTok, setting yet another record.

Fans across the world tuned in to the TikTok UEFA EURO 2020 Show, a celebration of music and football that marked TikTok’s partnership with UEFA as the home for football fans during the tournament. During a 12 song, hour-long set from the ground, fans were treated to classic songs including: ‘A Team’, ‘Sing’ and ‘Shape of You’, as well as an emotional performance his song ‘Visiting Hours’ from a local pub and dedicated to Ed’s friend, former Australian music exec Michael Gudinksi who passed away earlier this year. The show was the first global broadcast for the UK star, the first full show he’d played with a live band and the premiere live performance of his new single, ‘Bad Habits.’

From announcing the show in a video featuring footballing icon David Beckham, through to specially created behind the scenes videos, to highlights of the performance itself, there have been 150 million views of Ed’s TikToks since the campaign began.

The Rapper Known as “Coochie Man” Prepares His Next Project, Coochie Chronicles, Releasing June 30th and Featuring Appearances From Coi Leray and More; The Video for “Oxyyyyy” Drops at 7pm ET

    The Audio + Video:

YN Jay is known for his colorful character and brazenly funny bars, but he’s just as notable for his ability to ride a beat. Sliding over a hyperactive beat from his frequent producer ENRGY, Jay shares Oxyyyyy,” his latest single. Combining thudding percussion with dreamlike harp and wistful strings, “Oxyyyyy” is a paean to Jay’s favorite narcotic, bursting at the seams with the Beecher, MI native’s energetic ad-libs and witty punchlines: “I don’t let my b*tches meet my momma, cause my mother mean/Those hoes don’t love me, they just really want me for some cheese.” In the hallucinatory new video, which releases today at 7pm ET, YN Jay secludes himself in a dark room with some beautiful women, as they play Twister, have a pillow fight, and charm a snake. “Oxyyyyy” is the latest single from Coochie Chronicles, the consistently viral rapper’s upcoming project.

Coochie Chronicles is an expansion of YN Jay’s “Coochie Cinematic Universe,” finding him experimenting with a variety of new flows even as he perfects the sing-song patter on which he built his brand. He dances atop bass-heavy instrumentals from producers like his frequent collaborators ENRGY and Marc Boomin, delivering clever punchlines through a toothy grin. The new project is home to the remix to his viral hit “Triple S,” boasting a brand new verse from Coi Leray, and acclaimed singles like “Ashtray” and “Coochie. Featuring appearances from Rio Da Yung OG, and Jay’s close friend Louie Ray, Coochie Chronicles arrives on June 30th via Alamo Records.

Driven to take rap seriously after his older brother died, YN Jay quickly started to build a reputation as one of the most colorful characters in a hometown Flint scene populated almost exclusively by colorful characters. Young Dolph Signee Chitana Shares “4AM,” A Soulful Trap Love Song

    6.24.2021

    Video: Chitana – “4am

The New Signee to Young Dolph’s Paper Route EMPIRE Shows Off His Romantic Side in His New Video

    The Video:

A soulful and conversational rapper who caught the ear of Young Dolph, Chicago native Chitana is always on his grind. Today, the newly-minted Paper Route EMPIRE signee shares 4am,” a tender trap love song. Marked by sirenic vox synths and a tasteful R&B chord progression, “4am” finds Chitana kicking his game, spitting sensual bars in his laid back style before showing off his raspy singing voice on the hook.

In the video, Chitana takes his G Wagon down to ATL for some late night action, taking his girlfriend on a tour of the town before heading back to her place. “4am” is a change of pace from the South Side rapper, following the gritty video for Hard Times,” which dropped last month.

Home to artists like the rising superstar Key Glock and boisterous personalities like Big Moochie Grape, Young Dolph’s Paper Route EMPIRE is one of rap’s most successful independent labels. Chitana brings a different perspective to the label, his introspective bars providing a new light on street living, while keeping the same ten toes down authenticity for which the label is known.

Stay tuned for much more from Chitana and the rest of Paper Route EMPIRE this summer and beyond–including a project from Chitana later this year.

“Drenched in authenticity, New Orleans-born, Atlanta-bred rapper Yung Mal is looking like the next to blow out of the south.” – XXL

“Unpacking his latest triumphs and showing love to his neighborhood, Yung Mal bosses up in a major way on his new project.” – HotNewHipHop

“Yung Mal is on a fast ascension through the industry.” – ELEVATOR

“One of the most promising rising artists
Mal consistently brings interesting and unique flows onto stellar production.” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Video:

Rising from a soldier to a general in the ATL trap scene, Yung Mal has a bottomless bag of tricks behind the mic. Showing off his melodic mastery, Mal shares Woah Woah,” his latest video. Floating atop a beat from his 1.5 Da Label producer Gudda Tay, Mal flexes in a staccato auto-tuned flow, stacking flexes alongside fellow ATL heavy-hitter Lil Gotit: “Pull up in them Benzos, we don’t ride no Volvo,” chants Mal.

In the video, directed by Ndoh, Mal, Gotit, and Mal’s young son stay frosty in an enclosed space, the two emcees flirting with models and messing with Nerf guns while showing off their wintertime drip. “Woah Woah” is the latest video from from 1.5 Way Or No Way, Mal’s new mixtape, following the luxurious clip for “Watch Ya Step” ft. Slimelife Shawty, the L.A.-set video for “Wassup Wit Me” ft. G Herbo, recently named the “Must-Hear Rap Song Of The Day” by Pitchfork, and “Walkin,” featuring rising Memphis star Pooh Shiesty.

Named after the neighborhood in which he grew up, and for a phrase that was a favorite of his late homie Plug, 1.5 Way Or No Way is a mature and versatile effort. Mal’s rhymes are more polished and precise, reflecting the perspective of a father of a young son and daughter and a neighborhood leader who bears the hopes and dreams of his friends on his back.. The new mixtape earned praise from Complex (“Yung Mal can rap with some of the biggest in the game right now and still hold his own”) and HotNewHipHop (“Yung Mal bosses up in a major way on his new project”), as well as coverage from XXL, RESPECT, and more. Featuring additional appearances from BIG30 and Real Taker, 1.5 Way Or No Way is available everywhere via Alamo Records.

TikTok Summer Madness: Lorde Leads a Pack of New Trending Songs

  • Press Release

TikTok Summer Madness: Lorde Leads a Pack of New Trending Songs

    6.23.21

TikTok Treats, Week of June 21st

Lorde’s “Solar Power” Fuels The Critical Discourse, Rising Rapper Kali Repeats Her TikTok Success, and Kool & The Gang Makes Us Ponder Our Place in the Universe

    The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. This week, TikTok’s taste in music reflects an eagerness for summer to get underway, with sunshine-friendly songs new and old trending on the app. From summer madness to June weddings, check out what music is heating up on TikTok:

    • Longer days, shorter nights, and warmer weather means only one thing on TikTok: Lorde season is approaching. The 24-year-old pop star’s new single “Solar Power” has started vigorous conversation around the app, with over 25k video creations across two sounds. The song and its “Can you reach me?/No you can’t” lyric has inspired a trend for TikTok users who just want to be alone (whether at home or in a new country), but it has also sparked serious critical conversation. Some users don’t love the song, including long time fans who wish we could return to Pure Heroine days or others that have argued that it sounds like music from a hygiene commercial. These criticisms have prompted a wealth of defenses and responses, pointing out that many users just don’t respond well to upbeat music. Other fans have decided to take a deep dive into the song, including creator @melodramatic09, who posted a multi-part series analyzing every aspect of the song and the symbolism in its music video.
    • Known for their bottomless arsenal of hits and their memorable appearances in Quentin Tarantino films, Kool & The Gang’s music has the kind of cinematic quality ideal for soundtracking expressive TikTok videos. Their 1974 classic “Summer Madness” is at the center of a new TikTok trend, highlighting the song’s cascading crescendos of synths. In the context of the song, the crescendo represents the sun on a hot summer’s day, but in the hands of TikTok creators, those sirenic synths represent dramatic epiphanies about cosmic realities. With over 21k video creations since @jazzyfizzle_ started the trend on June 6th, “Summer Madness” has been used to grapple with the vastness of the universe, reckon with the inevitability of aging, and marvel at a partner’s glacially slow eating habits.
    • Rising rapper Kali is building on her recent viral TikTok success with her new single “MMM MMM MMM.” Similar to the release strategy behind her viral hit “Do A B*tch” (351.3K+ creations), Kali has been teasing the new song before its official release, and it’s already ablaze on TikTok, garnering over 320.5K+ creations so far. The lowkey baddie anthem has spawned multiple trends, each using the “mmmm” and “mmhmm” sounds in the track as inspiration for yes and no head nods. One of the trends is a makeover challenge, a popular vehicle for viral songs, displaying the breathtaking skills of TikTok beauticians. The second trend takes a more comedic approach, as users display the funny habits of their dogs and their confusion about mean attitudes.
    • Bilingual tracks like Kali Uchi’s “telepatĂa” (1.8M+ creations) have seen major success on TikTok and beyond, and now Arizona native Trinidad Cardona has brought a new bilingual banger “Dinero” to the app. Creators have been using the catchy, upbeat Spanish-English song to soundtrack fun Texas tubing adventures, their smooth dancing skills, and their versatile appearances. Trinidad Cardona recently expressed his excitement for the song trending #1 on TikTok. The song’s success on TikTok has translated to Spotify, as “Dinero” has reached #6 on the Viral 50 chart.
    • A “dream wedding” trend is making its rounds on TikTok and liana flores’ folk track “rises the moon” (61.3K+ creations) is serving as the inspiration. The calming, therapeutic instrumental makes the track perfect for a rainy day, but in this case, it’s perfect for partners planning their dream wedding together. The TikTok community loves to see partners compare their wedding aesthetics with “rises the moon” soundtracking them all, from partners who have completely different aesthetic preferences to partners who can’t get the other partner to stop joking and take the planning seriously.

Last week, TikTok highlighted five Black LGBT artists on TikTok that deserve attention for their activities on and off the app. Check out the newsroom to learn more about Kidd Kenn, Fousheé, Dizzy Fae, Marzz, and MK xyz: https://newsroom.tiktok.com/en-us/black-music-month-x-pride-celebrating-tiktoks-black-lgbtq-music-creators

Tomorrow, TikTok finishes off Pride month with a bang, as it hosts its first-ever Global Pride Finale. On June 24 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET, join artists, creators and the TikTok community for 12 hours of LIVE programming from around the world—featuring musical performances, makeup tutorials, Q&As, and more. The event kicks off with a performance from GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Kesha, and includes a performance from Tinashe and appearances from 2021’s LGBTQ+ TikTok Trailblazers. YN Jay Shares “Triple S” Remix ft. Coi Leray, Announces Coochie Chronicles Project

    6.23.21

YN Jay Announces Coochie Chronicles, His Next Project, Out June 30th

The Rapper Known as “Coochie Man” Remixes Viral Hit “Triple S” With a New Verse from Coi Leray

Featuring Appearances from Fellow Flint Natives Rio Da Yung OG and Louie Ray, Coochie Chronicles Expands the Wild World of YN Jay

    The Announcement:

An endlessly quotable emcee with a distinctive flow, Beecher, MI’s YN Jay is building a massive fanbase with his X-rated exploits. Preparing a new collection of stories about his favorite topic, Jay announces Coochie Chronicles, his next project. Dancing atop bass-heavy instrumentals from producers like his frequent collaborators ENRGY and Marc Boomin, the rapper known as the “Coochie Man” delivers clever punchlines through a toothy grin. The project represents an expansion of his vocal style, keeping the sing-song patter for which he’s known, but also experimenting with a variety of new flows. Featuring appearances from Coi Leray, Rio Da Yung OG, and his close friend Louie Ray, Coochie Chronicles arrives on June 30th via Alamo Records.

Along with the announcement of the project, Jay shares a new remix to his viral hit Triple S,” with a new verse from newly-minted XXL Freshman Coi Leray. Originally a collaboration with Louie Ray, “Triple S” is one of Jay’s most popular songs, earning over 19 million Spotify streams and making its way in the Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart after trending on TikTok with more than 475k video creations. The remix shows off the chemistry between Jay and Coi Leray, who borrows many of the “Coochie Man’s” signature ad-libs and flow.

The “Triple S” remix continues a busy year for the 22-year-old rapper. In February, Jay released his Ninja Warrior project, which helped solidify his spot as a major figure in the Michigan rap scene. His Michigan all-star status helped him earn a guest appearance on Lil Yachty‘s Michigan Boy Boat mixtape. He’s been keeping busy by dropping high quality visuals for songs like “Ashtray,” “The Fawk Up,” and more, and he’s set to perform at Rolling Loud Miami 2021 in July.

Jay is a nearly mythic figure on TikTok, generating millions of video creations on viral hits like “Kakashi,” “Coochie,” “Coochie Land,” and “Coochie Scout,” and inspiring TikTok comedian @Nuhchez to splice YN Jay’s voice into Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” and create one of the platform’s most successful running jokes. YN Jay’s inimitable style earned him co-signs from Drake and Lil Uzi Vert.

With the upcoming Coochie Chronicles, YN Jay is looking to take his distinct strain of Michigan rap to national prominence.

    Critical Praise:

“In four and a half years — beginning small in Miami, and now promoting Coachella-sized events around the country — Rolling Loud has established itself as a playground for the young…This time last year, many of the rappers now drawing crowds of several thousand were barely known.” – The New York Times

“Rolling Loud is the be-all of hip-hop festivals.” – Billboard

“The Rolling Loud New York experiment was a success—one which will likely earn it a return trip to the city in future years. Far from a traditional NYC rap experience, it was a two-day event that catered to the genre’s youngest fans, with an eye squarely focused on the future.” – Complex

“In only its fifth year with four major destinations and more in the pipeline overseas, athletes, celebrities and others are forking over as much as $20,000 for VIP packages. Of course, imitators are cropping up.” – Pollstar

“…within five years Rolling Loud has grown into one of the biggest hip-hop brands in the world. Locally, it has surpassed rival events Ultra and III Points in stature and rivals prestige festivals like Coachella.” – Miami New Times

Prado Shares Her Quotable, Genre-Bending Debut EP ‘Prado Monroe’

  • Press Release

Prado Shares Her Quotable, Genre-Bending Debut EP ‘Prado Monroe’

    6.18.21

    EP: Prado – Prado Monroe

Featuring Acclaimed Singles like “STEPHEN,” “DRIP,” and “Gucci Store,” the Vancouver Native’s Debut EP is Packed with Inventive Hooks and Instagram Caption-Worthy Lyrics

    Critical Praise:

“Prado expertly juxtaposes sugary-sweet melodies against unwavering braggadocio for her second single ‘Men in Black.’ The result? A banger made to be played in perpetuity.”Refinery29

“Prado’s melodic boastfulness carries the track as she raps about all the things that make her stand out”Complex

“…vulnerable, empowering songwriting and powerful vocal chops.”EXCLAIM!

“She [Prado] embodies a divine feminine power unlike no other, accented with a blend of lo-fi rap and chaotic bliss.”InYaEarHipHop

    The EP:

Vancouver polymath Prado is an expert songwriter, combining adventurous sonics and brazen lyrics into a hook-filled, genre-blending cocktail. After years of paving her own way through her hometown scene and the internet underground, Prado is ready to seize her moment, releasing her debut EP Prado Monroe. Ever since she started uploading songs to SoundCloud under the moniker AlienKanye, Prado has carved her own path through the music industry, never trying to be anything other than her own unapologetic self. On her debut EP, the artist named by Complex as one of 25 Canadian Artists to Watch in 2021 cuts a defined figure in just six songs, establishing a fierce and defiant persona rooted in pride and her heritage.

“So you want more pop black girls? I’m right here,” says Prado. “Been here. This is me shooting my shot at you. Reflective of the shiny high-pitched pop music I was raised on and still love… the most accessible across platforms… straight from the streets, the source, Prado Monroe.”

The new EP is home to previously released singles like her debut duo of “STEPHEN,” an atmospheric, hook-filled banger that stresses the importance of self-expression, and the Complex-praised “DRIP,” a bad b*tch anthem, filled with mantra-like pronouncements that double as advice for living a confident and care-free life. It combines recent singles like Men In Black,” praised by Refinery29 and the anthemic Gucci Store,” with two new bangers: the ethereal and speaker-knocking “Likeline,” and the wavy, mutating “Louis Tee,” inspired by the avant fringe of SoundCloud rap. “Louis Tee” arrives along with a strikingly colorful visualizer, animated by Tech M. (@she.obj).

Heralding her arrival with her debut EP, Prado Monroe is the first salvo from a major talent who is ready to re-shape the world of pop music in her own image. Prado Monroe is streaming everywhere via tmwrk Records.

    The Background:

Pop luminary Prado, AKA Prado Monroe, will turn on a dime from sweet to sadistic before doubling back all over again. Born in Vancouver, Canada on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, Prado is densely committed to the Black and Indigenous communities that raised her.

Circa 2016, the now 22-year-old industry titan was lending pen to various artists under the moniker of ‘AlienKanye’; the contagious melodies behind various NY-based male rappers. Further unearthing her love and disposition to wordplay and pop music, Prado learned to lead without fear, using her unique voice and no-bullshit delivery all for herself.

Now, with her debut Prado Monroe EP, the one-of-a-kind artist looks to remake the music industry in her own image. Don’t bet against her.

Morray Heads to Confessional in the Affecting Video for “Mistakes”

  • Press Release

Morray Heads to Confessional in the Affecting Video for “Mistakes”

    6.11.2021

    Video: Morray – “Mistakes”

The Newly-Minted XXL Freshman Continues His Hot Streak with the Latest Video from His Debut Project Street Sermons

    Critical Praise:

“‘Trenches,’ from an album due next week titled Street Sermons, rides the minor chords and trap beats that often accompany antisocial boasts. But while ‘Trenches’ doesn’t ignore gangs, drugs or poverty, Morray also recognizes a community that holds families, neighbors and friends” – The New York Times

“Few crooning rappers have his polish, resonance, and soul.” – SPIN

“With only four songs on streaming platforms—all released in 2020—Fayetteville, North Carolina rapper Morray has already proven he’s a hitmaker. His debut single “Quicksand” is undeniable, anchored by the type of hook you get from a Roddy Ricch or Rod Wave song and infused with storytelling and charisma to paint a picture even if you’re unfamiliar with the newcomer.” – Pigeons & Planes

    The Video:

One of the biggest breakout stars of the year, Morray differentiates himself from the pack with the passion evident in his sharp lyricism and emotional singing. Hot on the heels of becoming an XXL Freshman for 2021, Morray shares the video for Mistakes,” a highlight from his debut album Street Sermons. Produced by Dystinkt Beats & SephGotTheWaves, “Mistakes” finds Morray adjusting to his new life as a rap star, showing off his church-trained vocal runs as he promises not to forget where he came from: “Pockets full of hundreds, never thought that I could have it/Living my best life, stress free, finally happened/Don’t gotta cap shit, now I’m making it off of rapping/Eating good, went from ramen to Wagyu with my salads,” spits Morray.

Directed by Christian Breslauer, who teamed up with Morray for recent videos for Can’t Use Me” and Nothing Now,” the clip for “Mistakes” evocatively illustrates the themes in Morray’s lyrics. Morray starts the video in the confession booth, before he sits down for a conversation with his past self, showing him what could change in his life if he works hard and keeps at it. “Mistakes” is the latest in a line of high-quality visuals that started with “Quicksand,” recently certified GOLD by the RIAA, which peaked at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in the Top 10 of both YouTube’s US Music Video Chart and the Urban Radio airplay chart.

After his meteoric rise that started with “Quicksand” and continued with Street Sermons, which debuted at #41 on the Billboard 200 and helped propel Morray to #1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart, Morray earned a position on the coveted XXL Freshman list for 2021. The honor is the latest in a long line of accolades, including one to watch” designations from Complex, Billboard, SPIN, Pigeons & Planes, and many more.

With Street Sermons and his newfound position as a XXL Freshman, Morray culminates his meteoric rise and proves that he’s ready to build an artistic legacy and a nest egg for his wife and kids. For an artist with Morray’s talent, the sky is the limit.

Wacotron is the “Perfect Example” of a Lyrical Trapper in the New Video From Smokin Texas

  • Press Release

Wacotron is the “Perfect Example” of a Lyrical Trapper in the New Video From Smokin Texas

    6.11.2021

Video: Wacotron – “Perfect Example” (Prod. by Southside)

The Texas Rapper Shows Off His Storytelling in the Latest Video From His Debut Project Smokin Texas

    Critical Praise:

“His flows are impressive and seem to naturally roll off of his tongue which shows off his masterful outlook and impressive aptitudes despite his relatively new entrance into the music scene.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“Southside protege Wacotron is a new-ish name, but he sounds like he’s been doing this for years, balancing simplicity, interiority, and the confidence of an established vet.” – UPROXX

    The Video:

Spinning yarns and speaking street wisdom, Texas rapper Wacotron has impeccable pen game. Styling atop a beat from Southside, Wacotron shares the new video for “Perfect Example.” Weaving between Southside’s dancing cellos and thunderous 808s, Wacotron tells stories from his past, before swearing that he’ll never go back to his days of sleeping on the floor. In the video, directed by Wacotron’s favorite directors We The Shooters, the rapper lays low in a motel with a crew, taking care of business before his location turns into a crime scene. “Perfect Example” is a highlight track from Smokin Texas, Wacotron’s debut project, which released in April.

Though Wacotron is a newcomer in the rap game, he’s a veteran in the streets, and the 12 songs on Smokin’ Texas reflect the hard-earned wisdom of a self-made man. Packed with harrowing stories and sly turns-of-phrase, Smokin Texas benefits from the steady hand of 808 Mafia chieftain Southside, who delivers booming production with the assistance of associates like CuBeatz, Topp, Pyrex, Steezefield, and more. The mixtape also features multiple productions from superstar DJ Marshmello. The new mixtape is home to recent single Umbrella,” produced by Marshmello and featuring a snarling guest verse from G Herbo (over 6 million streams since its April 9th release), as well as standout video singles like “Gram And A Hoodie,” “Take Off,“ “Toothpaste,” Wacotron’s debut release Cut Me Up,” which has over 5 million streams across platforms, and the recent video for Coastin. Featuring additional production from Johan Lenox and others, Smokin Texas is available everywhere via Pick Six Records/808 Mafia.

A native of Waco, TX–hence his name–Wacotron showed a passion for music from a young age, absorbing the 808-driven trap music he listened to in the car with his dad. After spending years mired in the struggle, Wacotron turned to rap in his 20’s, searching for a better way to provide for his family and escape his circumstances. The rapper started to build a reputation in his home state, eventually catching the attention of Pick Six Records, who signed him to a deal and connected him with Southside and 808 Mafia.

With his debut project Smokin Texas, Wacotron proves that he’s an artist to watch in the bustling Texas rap scene, putting Waco on the map with his sharp lyricism.

  • Press Release

Young Dolph Gathers PRE Associates For the High-Flying “Nothing To Me” Video

    6.16.2021

Video: Young Dolph – “Nothing To Me” ft. Snupe Bandz & Paper Route Woo

The Paper Route EMPIRE CEO Showcases the Skills of Two of His Newest Signees in the Video for this Bandplay-Produced Banger

    The Video:

Young Dolph built Paper Route EMPIRE into one of hip-hop’s most vital indie labels, and he’s not done expanding. Teaming up with two of his newest signees, Dolph shares Nothing To Me,” a luxurious video single. Produced by PRE maestro Bandplay, “Nothing To Me” is a sinister slapper, featuring a stunt-heavy hook from Dolph and contributions from Snupe Bandz, who contributes a drawly and witty verse, and Paper Route Woo, who flexes his trap muscles in the song’s anchor track. In the video, Dolph, Snupe, and Woo, fly high in a private jet, the three emcees counting bands and popping bottles as they celebrate Paper Route EMPIRE’s success. Following the recent Hard Times video from new PRE signee Chitana, the video for “Nothing To Me” further showcases the collection of burgeoning talent on PRE, a group of hungry young rappers looking to join Dolph and Key Glock on rap’s A-list.

“Nothing To Me” is Dolph’s first new song since the release of Dum And Dummer 2, a collaborative album with Key Glock. Debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200, Dum and Dummer 2 generated nearly 36k sales equivalent units across platforms and scored the fifth-biggest streaming debut on Spotify during its first week of release. Earlier this month, the album received a glowing review from Pitchfork, who awarded the album a 7.5 score and cemented Young Dolph & Key Glock as a “once-in-a-generation” rap duo, akin to 8Ball & MJG or Method Man & Redman, and “one of the most in-sync alliances in the genre today.” Dum & Dummer 2 is the duo’s second Top 10 album, following the original Dum and Dummer, which debuted at #8 in 2019.

In recent weeks, Young Dolph and Key Glock have been unveiling new music videos for highlight tracks from the album. Most recently, the dynamic duo shared the video for A Goat & A Dolphin,” one of the most quotable tracks on a very quotable album. With production from PRE’s own Bandplay, among others, Dum & Dummer 2 is home to a series of standout singles, including the hauntingly flex-heavyCase Closed, the classily ratchet “Sleep With The Roaches, the ice cold opening track Penguins,” the Young Dolph-directed RAIN RAIN,” and the soulful winter-weather celebration “Aspen,” which has over 7 million views on YouTube.

Dum & Dummer 2 is available everywhere via Paper Route EMPIRE. Stay tuned for much more from Dolph and the rest of PRE in the coming weeks and months.

Rolling Loud & Ahead Connect with Music Breakr + Collab Crib to Launch Contest For Aspiring Artists–the Winner Earns the Chance to Perform at Rolling Loud Miami 2021

Rap’s Premier Festival Brand Enters Into a Partnership with the Financial Services Company, Starting with the “Ahead Start To Rolling Loud” Contest

    The Announcement:

The biggest festival brand in hip-hop, hosting star-studded events on multiple continents, Rolling Loud is a game-changer in the world of live music. Today, Rolling Loud announces a new partnership with Ahead, a digital finance platform that specializes in connecting underserved consumers with world-class financial services.

To celebrate the start of the two-year partnership, which is powered by Fairfax Studios, Rolling Loud and Ahead announce the launch of “Ahead Start to Rolling Loud,” a new contest that gives aspiring artists a chance to perform at Rolling Loud Miami 2021. Presented in partnership with Music Breakr and Collab Crib, the contest invites up-and-coming rappers to show off their personalities on Instagram before submitting an original song to be judged by the team at Breakr. The contest starts immediately. Check the graphic below for instructions to participate in the contest and find out more information HERE.

“For whatever reason, we don’t learn financial literacy in school,” says Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif. “As a company founded by self-made entrepreneurs who made many financial mistakes, Rolling Loud is proud to partner with Ahead Financials to help our fans become more financially literate and make smart decisions with their money. It’s hard to earn it but it’s harder to keep it!”

“We know how much music influences culture and we believe culture is our roadmap to engaging our customers where they are,” says Ahead COO Kim Morgan. “We are excited about this journey with Rolling Loud to make impactful connections with our potential customers and their respective communities. We want to be more than just a financial service institution, we would like to engage customers at the intersection of culture, community and inclusion.“

“We always have and will believe that creativity, culture, and social impact are the ingredients that bring engagement, education, and impact to life in a much more meaningful way than outdated, and traditional ways to market, ” says Fairfax Studios Founder and Chief Creative Officer Marvin Bing. “We always bring our clients face to face with real opportunity that has potential to integrate on a much larger scale with communities that have for too long been seen as an afterthought.”

With headliners Travis Scott, Post Malone and A$AP Rocky, Rolling Loud Miami 2021 is a triumphant return for live rap music, and a coming out party for risers and new superstars eager to play in front of a festival crowd. Rolling Loud Miami 2021 will occur on July 23rd-25th at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.

Swae Lee, WILLOW, Mitski & More Inspire Trends on TikTok

  • Press Release

Swae Lee, WILLOW, Mitski & More Inspire Trends on TikTok

    6.16.21

TikTok Treats, Week of June 14th

WILLOW Gets Her Pop-Punk On, Rae Sremmurd Inspire a Dance Craze, and the Community Searches For Someone Who Can Pay Their Automo-Bills

    The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. The best TIkTok trends act as a kind of criticism, latching onto an aspect of a song and showing it in a new light. This week on TikTok, the community shined a light on old hits by Destiny’s Child and Rae Sremmurd alongside high-octane bangers by WILLOW and WHOKILLEDXIX. Take a look at what made TikTok tick this week:

    • No strangers to viral dance trends like the 2016 “Black Beatles” Mannequin Challenge, Rae Sremmurd has a new dance trend on their hands with “My X” (406.3K+ creations) making waves on TikTok. Though moderate in tempo, Swae Lee’s quick flow and high-energy verse have made the 2015 track a hit amongst TikTok creators. Creator Lesley Gonzalez (@yodamnmomma) kicked off the dance trend at the beginning of the month, switching tempos to match Swae Lee’s verse. Swae Lee even showed her some love for creating the dance in the comments of her post. Users on the platform have taken to the dance trend to show off their moves, whether with their cool moms, their best friends, or in their freshly-used softball jerseys.
    • Her brother Jaden got attention last year when he did a merch collab with TikTok, but 2021 has been WILLOW’s year to shine on the app. In late April, WILLOW on-boarded with a bang, sharing a clip of her Travis Barker-produced rock song “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l.” Since then, “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” has become a mainstay on TikTok, generating over 55k video creations, primarily from the world of Haircare TikTok, its aggressive vibes adding an edge to impulsive dye jobs or bizarre crafts projects. On her own page, WILLOW has been feeding fans’ enthusiasm for the song, demonstrating how to play the song’s riff on guitar for those who want to cover the song on the app, sharing clips from the song’s music video, and generating over 12 million views on an excerpt of her recent Fallon performance.
    • TikTok has a unique power to revive hits from the past. In recent weeks, the iconic 90s R&B tune “Bills, Bills, Bills” by Destiny’s Child has reached trending status, inspiring over 128k video creations. For the trend, creators are using the sound to express what they look for in a partner as they cover their face and slap the air in a provocative motion. The sound is perfect for creators who look for zodiac sign compatibility, seek reassurance, and especially for those who have a very specific taste in partners who wear 5-inch inseam shorts and Bass Pro Shop hats.
    • Glitchcore duo WHOKILLEDXIX is having a major moment on TikTok with their genre-bending track “spy?” Garnering over 136.7K creations so far, the track has become a hit with the TikTok community for its mixture of alternative, punk, EDM, and trap vibes. Because of its reach, creators use it to soundtrack practically any situation, including setting daily reminders to annoy your cute cat, displaying fun video games to play with a significant other, or joking about astronaut aesthetics. After going viral on TikTok, the song peaked at #7 on Spotify’s US Viral 50.
    • With a propulsive, disco-adjacent beat and trancelike repetition of the titular phrase, “Nobody” by Mitski lends itself very well to TikTok interpretation (113k video creations). Though “Nobody” was the source of a dance trend in the Fall of 2020, the song truly took off in the past week with a new trend for when creators wish they could run away from a situation as quickly as possible. Dial up Mitski’s sad-on-the-dancefloor anthem whenever someone suggests that you need to get a summer job, someone uses outdated slang, or gives useful, but unwanted romantic advice.
    • 18-year-old musician Rachel Sandy is making waves on the platform with her pitch-perfect impressions of beloved singer-songwriters. Using her acoustic guitar and her home studio, she crafts original songs in the style of artists like Lorde, Taylor Swift, and the aforementioned Mitski. Since joining TikTok in mid-May with her evocation of Phoebe Bridgers, Rachel has racked up nearly 15 million video views and grew a following of over 240k. Rachel’s video about Maggie Rogers drew the attention of Maggie herself, who duetted the video on her own page.

TikTok’s LIVE Headstream series continues this week with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. For 30 minutes, on Fridays at 4PM PT/7PM ET, Headstream invites artists to introduce their new music, interact with fans in the live chat, and get into some real talk with their toughest interviewer yet—themselves. The Rivers Cuomo session drops on Friday, June 18th via @weezer and will feature music from the band’s new album Van Weezer. Weezer will also be hitting the road this summer on the Hella Mega tour, alongside Green Day and Fall Out Boy; grab tickets here

Taleban Dooda Isn’t Letting Anything Slide in “My Bruddas”

  • Press Release

Taleban Dooda Isn’t Letting Anything Slide in “My Bruddas”

    6.15.2021

Video: Taleban Dooda – “My Bruddas” ft. OMB Peezy

The Tampa Upstart Connects With Alabama’s Heavy-Hitter for a Reflective Banger Off His Album Fallen Angel

    Critical Praise:

“It’s not hard to understand why critics are saying that Dooda is poised to be the chosen one, the artist who pushes Tampa rap into the mainstream: Whatever it is, Dooda has it.”  Vice

“Though it sounds like a victory lap, this song proves Taleban Dooda and T9ine are just getting started.” – Pitchfork

“Over the last few years, East Tampa rapper Taleban Dooda has positioned himself as his city’s leading candidate to break out of its regional bubble. Excelling at both pained street ballads and bouncy, upbeat melodies, Taleban’s high vocals and songwriting talents lend him a more pop-ready sound than some of his melodic crooner peers”  Audiomack

“19-year-old Taleban Dooda has been establishing himself as a newfound force in the South.”  HotNewHipHop

“At only 19 years old.. his talents are already overly abundant and his potential is probably higher than most up and coming artists you could name off the top of your head.” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Video:

Taleban Dooda is poised to be Tampa’s next breakout star thanks to his melodic tenor and soul-baring lyricism. Linking up with OMB Peezy, he continues his ascent by sharing the video for “My Bruddas.” The highlight track from his debut album, Fallen Angel, finds the duo waxing poetic about staying loyal and settling scores. The dire situations which they depict provide a stark contrast from the hazy, laid-back video, where they kick it in Hollywood in front of all-black SUVs.

Released in May, Fallen Angel captivated listeners as Dooda documented his rise and the struggles he faced along the way. He blends genres and regions into his signature croon on album highlights like “Chosen” ft. T9ine,  a gospel-influenced anthem that earned praise from Pitchfork and HipHopDX (who named the song one of the Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2021 So Far), and  “Trappin Ain’t Dead,” a Detroit-style banger with a standout verse from 42 Dugg. Featuring additional appearances from Tory Lanez, Yung Bleu, and Dee Watkins, Fallen Angel is available to stream everywhere via Green Light Music Group/Rostrum Records.

Taleban Dooda has been steadily building a loyal fanbase over the past year, displaying a natural melodic ability that helps him stand out among street rappers in Florida and beyond. He scored street hits in the first half of 2020 with “Tru Colors” (included as a bonus cut on Fallen Angel with over 3 million total streams) and “2 In Da Morning” (1 million views), and turned heads last fall with standout singles like “Dis Dooda,” which Vice named as one of the 24 Best Songs of September. Dooda recently told his story in a Noisey Next feature with Vice, touching on his experience growing up in Tampa and his musical inspirations.

With Fallen Angel, Dooda takes his latest step towards establishing himself as a major player in the Southern scene. With tens of millions of streams at just 19 years old, this is just the beginning.

Taleban Dooda always had a voice–a combination of distinctly Floridian style and irresistibly catchy melody, has made the 19-year-old rapper one of the most exciting new rap voices coming out of the South. Hailing from East Tampa, Dooda had few options to avoid the violence that lurked outside his door. When he injured his knee in his 9th grade year, ending his football dreams, Dooda turned his attention to music. He began by recording himself covering other people’s songs — inspired by his love for artists like Bruno Mars, John Legend, and Sam Smith — before moving on to his own original compositions. Influenced by artists like NBA Youngboy, Polo G, and NoCap, Taleban Dooda decided to become a rapper.

For Dooda, 2020 was all about consistency, as he continued to drop a steady stream of strong singles throughout the year. In September, he released “Dis Dooda” — which VICE named one of the best songs of the month and Lyrical Lemonade highlighted on their site — and followed that up in November with the TM88 and ATL Jacob-produced “Finish Him.” Now, Dooda has his eyes set on the upcoming release of his debut album. With all this momentum, and all of Florida behind him, he doesn’t plan to slow down any time soon. “I’m just trying to keep dropping music,” he says. “I ain’t trying to take no breaks.”

Rolling Loud Launches Tour Promotion Company w/ Rod Wave Tour

Rolling Loud Expands Into Touring, Launches Rolling Loud Presents

Tickets for First Tour, Rod Wave’s “SoulFly Tour presented by Rolling Loud,” Go On Sale This Week

Hip-Hop’s Premier Festival Brand Continues Its Massive Year, Positioning Itself as a Major Player in the Tour Promotion Space

    The Announcement:

Gathering many of rap’s biggest names, Rolling Loud events are known for their expert curation and high-energy performances. After years of building themselves into the premier festival brand in hip-hop, Rolling Loud launches Rolling Loud Presents, their first venture into tour promotions.

Rolling Loud Presents is one of the company’s most ambitious expansions yet, taking the Rolling Loud experience on the road with a series of tours headlined by some of the biggest stars in hip-hop, in partnership with Live Nation.

First up, Rolling Loud partners with superstar artist Rod Wave for “Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour Presented by Rolling Loud.” Spanning 20+ dates, the “SoulFly Tour” brings the Rolling Loud experience to cities across the country. Kicking off in August, “SoulFly Tour” is merely the first tour promoted by Rolling Loud Presents to be announced.

Tickets for “Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour” go on sale starting Friday, June 18th at 10am local time at http://soulflytour.com/. List of all tour dates below.

Described by The New York Times as the ‘preeminent hip-hop emoter of the last couple of years,’ Florida’s Rod Wave has evolved into one of the most organically popular artists in the rap game. His new album SoulFly debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with over 130k units sold, following last year’s Platinum-certified Pray For Love. The Alamo-signed artist is a consistent presence in the top 10 of the YouTube Music and Rolling Stone charts, amassing over 6.5 billion streams in less than three years. On the “SoulFly Tour,” he’ll perform SoulFly album highlights like “Tombstone,” which peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, and older hits like the multi-platinum singles “Rags2Riches” and “Heart On Ice.” On his upcoming headlining tour, Rod Wave will demonstrate why he’s one of the best live performers in hip-hop.

“Touring is a team effort, you’re only as strong as your team,” say Rolling Loud co-founders Matt Zingler & Tariq Cherif. “Each tour we take on is given the same attention as a Rolling Loud Festival. We strategically work with the artist team and our local partners to ensure a good turnout while not being over ambitious with the room capacities. If an artist really wants to grow they need to go out and build. Every market they go to helps build their fan base. Over time you will get to the Drake and Travis Scott level. Even those acts have been tour support and played in 500 cap rooms. I know because we booked Travis Scott in a 1500 cap room.”

“Rolling Loud has done an incredible job of not only launching but continuing to maintain such a relevant and forward-thinking music brand in the hip-hop space,” said Colin Lewis, tour promoter at Live Nation. “We’re excited to be a part of their expansion into touring and to kick things off with Rod Wave. Can’t wait for fans to see what else we have up our sleeves.”

The announcement of Rolling Loud Presents comes hot on the heels of the announcement of Rolling Loud New York 2021. Occurring October 28th-30th at Citi Field in Queens, the festival promises headlining performances by Travis Scott, J. Cole, and 50 Cent, and features a lineup packed with superstars and NYC legends.

Rolling Loud New York 2021 is the second of three Rolling Loud festivals to be held in 2021, following the brand’s flagship event Rolling Loud Miami 2021 and preceding Rolling Loud California 2021. Occurring on December 10th-12th, 2021 at NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA, Rolling Loud California promises headlining performances by J. Cole, Kid Cudi, and Future, as well as a special duo performance by Young Thug and Chris Brown. Both Rolling Loud Miami 2021 and Rolling Loud California 2021 are sold out.

    The Background:

Founded as a one-day festival in 2015 by Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud has evolved into a global behemoth, with annual festivals in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and the Bay Area. Postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rolling Loud Miami is scheduled for February 2021, and Rolling Loud Portugal, the brand’s first European festival and first-ever 5-day event, recently announced the lineup for next Summer. The company’s new Twitch partnership, which includes three virtual festivals in Fall 2020, allows Rolling Loud to maintain its vital cultural role during an impossibly difficult time for festivals and live music.
