Fans of stadium-sized rock music can enjoy stalwarts like Foo Fighters, recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Green Day, Imagine Dragons, and Quebecois icons Les Cowboys Fringants and Les Trois Accords, while Lamb of God  and Bad Religion offer a harder alternative. Lana Del Rey, The Smile, and Feist appeal to the Indie crowd, along with acts like The War On DrugsAlvvays, and Sasketchewan singer-songwriter Andy Shauf. Hip-Hop heads can turn up to the likes of Lil Durk, GloRilla, and Cypress Hill, or Canadian emcees bbno$ and Killy. Other notable names include Ann Wilson (formerly of Heart), Quebec’s Robert Charlebois, and exciting up-and-comers like Sudan Archives and Meet Me At The Altar.

The summer festival makes use of The Plains of Abraham, one of the most notable historical sites in Canada, where, in 1759, the British and French fought a decisive battle in the Seven Years’ War. Now, hundreds of years later with Canada’s fate in its own hands, the Plains of Abraham is the location of the FEQ’s main stage, with a capacity of over 80,000. With its multi-day, multi-venue structure and the full-fledged involvement of the surrounding city, FEQ is the closest North American analog to European city festivals like the UK’s Wireless Festival, Spain’s Primavera Sound, or Denmark’s Roskilde. Located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City is the closest thing to a European city within driving distance, and fans who don’t feel like road tripping can take one of 21 direct flights to the YQB airport.

Watch Young Dolph’s Video for “Love For The Streets” From ‘Paper Route Frank’

    3.20.2023

Video: Young Dolph – “Love For The Streets

The Video for the Opening Track from Paper Route Frank Highlights the Inimitable Impact and Lasting Legacy Forged by Young Dolph’s Deep Connection to his City

    The Video:

Young Dolph built his empire from the ground up, in the streets of Memphis that he called home. Today, the label he built, Paper Route Empire, shares the new video for “Love For The Streets,” the opening song from his posthumous album Paper Route Frank.

The video for “Love For The Streets” opens with an audio clip of Dolph explaining that he wrapped his fleet of luxury cars in the same, signature camouflage wrap, not for the love of the cars themselves, but to be different: “I’m doing stuff that can’t nobody do, and that’s the hardest thing to do, is stand out.” As the clip fades into the track’s introduction, the camouflaged convoy takes to the streets of Memphis, passing local landmarks like the memorialized Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton, Jr. Avenue and the Dolph Land memorial mural in Castalia, with old footage of Dolph interspersed as though he never left. At the video’s closing, Dolph is seen toasting his Paper Route Empire family as he lays out his plans to keep the empire growing, saying, “I love all y’all. This sh*t living forever.”

The video for “Love For The Streets” arrives as Paper Route Empire continues to work harder than ever to honor Dolph’s legacy and continue to fulfill his vision. Last month, Key Glock shared his new album Glockoma 2, before embarking on SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock – Glockoma Tour, where he honors his mentor every night with a performance of “100 Shots.” Tickets for SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock – Glockoma Tour are available now at keyglock.com. Fans of Dolph and Glock can pay tribute to Dolph at the traveling Dolphland museum, which has made stops in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Denver, San Antonio, Chicago, and Washington, DC, with upcoming dates in Atlanta and Memphis to be announced soon.

Released in December, Paper Route Frank drips with the same commanding charisma and booming Tennessee bass that defines Dolph’s impeccable catalog. Featuring appearances by Gucci Mane2 Chainz, PRE’s own Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, and SNUPE BANDZPaper Route Frank is available everywhere via Paper Route Empire.

03 Greedo Announces Halfway There Mixtape, His First Newly-Recorded Project Since His Release from Prison

Halfway There Arrives March 24th via Alamo Records

The Watts, CA Native Shares the Video For “Bacc Like I Never Left,” the Tape’s Lead Single

Recorded in the Months Since Greedo’s Release, the Upcoming Halfway There Mixtape Spans More Than 30 Tracks and Proves That the West Coast Legend Hasn’t Lost a Step

    Critical Praise:

“The latest hope of Los Angeles hip-hop” – Rolling Stone

“The Watts rapper is an essential piece of West Coast rap” – Pitchfork

“Los Angeles street-rap weirdo 03 Greedo is one of the most exciting and inventive voices around right now, and he already released one of the best rap albums of the year” – Stereogum

“Literally no one else on Leonardo DiCaprio’s green Earth talks flavorful cash sh*t as wonderfully as 03 Greedo.” – Complex

“This mixtape is a step away from his usual sunny LA sound, but 03 Greedo knew what he was doing when he enlisted the help of Kenny Beats. This link up has resulted in an entertaining, yet simple record, the concept expertly executed. ‘Netflix and Deal’ is a cinema experience – minus the over-expensive snacks.” – NME

    The Announcement:

Endlessly prolific with an unparalleled work ethic, 03 Greedo spent the weeks following his release on a creative tear. Ready to share the first batch of recordings from his recent binge, 03 Greedo announces Halfway There, his next mixtape. Like many of the projects from his legendary 2010s run, Halfway There benefits from Greedy’s endless font of melodies and peerless ability to write fully-realized songs in a matter of minutes. The new mixtape spans over 30 tracks, featuring contributions from a laundry list of notable names eager to welcome 03 Greedo back to the game. Featuring appearances from Babyface RayMaxo KreamRich The Kid, and many, many more to be announced, Halfway There arrives on March 24th via Alamo Records.

Last week, the Watts, CA native shared his first single from the tape, “Bacc Like I Never Left,” starting a new chapter in his career. Today, the rapper shares the video for “Bacc Like I Never Left,” its first single. Shot at the legendary Sugar Hill recording studio in Texas, the video finds Greedo enjoying his freedom, with ice on his wrist and neck. Directed by Wyatt Winfrey, the lo-fi video is a perfect complement for the melodic song, which 03 debuted at Billboard’s The Stage @ SXSW.

The release of “Bacc Like I Never Left,” the SXSW performance, and the upcoming Halfway There continue an incredible year for the West Coast icon. Earlier this year, just before his release from jail, Greedo shared Free 03, an acclaimed mixtape. Created in collaboration with renowned L.A. producer Mike Free, the tape features a combination of vault tracks and songs with vocals recorded over the prison phone. Home to 2022 singles Drop Down” ft. KenTheMan and “Pourin” ft. BlueBucksClan, named one of the Best Rap Songs of 2022 by Passion of the WeissFree 03 is a potent refinement of Greedo’s inimitable sound. The tape earned praise from Pitchfork, who wrote “Free 03 blends this celebratory post-prison rush with the emotional fallout from his sentence: a collection of songs that grooves and seethes, always remaining focused on greener pastures,” and earned positive mentions in BillboardVultureHipHopDXUPROXX, and more.

With Halfway There on the way, 03 Greedo is making up for lost time. Forget a Purple Summer…it’s gonna be Purple all year long.

    The Background:

L.A. rapper 03 Greedo came into his own on a series of mixtapes that began with 2016’s Purple Summer. His multi-faceted rhymes were heavy on references to drugs, struggle, and fame, and he churned out quality material at a prolific rate. He broke through to an even larger audience after signing a record deal, but not even a month after the release of his 2018 debut studio album God Level, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking. He began serving his time in the summer of that year but issued a statement saying he intended to keep making and releasing new music while incarcerated. In 2019, Greedo released Still Summer in the Projects, the Kenny Beats produced project Netflix & Deal, with features from Freddie Gibbs, Vince Staples, Buddy and more, and in 2020, he dropped Load It Up, Vol. 01, produced by RonRonThe Producer. Greedo released his latest mixtape, Free 03, in January 2023.

Rucci & Bankroll Got It Prepare for 3/24 ‘Notorious’ Album, Share “Can’t Trust It” Video

  • Press Release

Rucci & Bankroll Got It Prepare for 3/24 ‘Notorious’ Album, Share “Can’t Trust It” Video

    3.17.2023

Rucci & Bankroll Got It Officially Announce Notorious, Coming March 24th via Mackk&Co/EMPIRE

The Inglewood Rapper and the Production Duo Share the Video for “Can’t Trust It,” a Paranoid Highlight From the Album

Featuring Appearances From O.T. Genasis, Baby Stone Gorillas, Kalan.FrFr, Wallie The Sensei & Saviii 3rd, the Upcoming Notorious is the First Full-Length Collaboration Between Platinum-Selling Production Team Bankroll Got It and a Single Artist

    Critical Praise:

“On the spectrum of the new Los Angeles, Rucci sits closest to classicism, capturing the spirit of greats like Suga Free and Mack 10. But don’t mistake that homage for predictability: Rucci consumes these beats. His presence throughout this album is glowing, outsized, and even within the frames of L.A. bump — minor keys, minimal bass — he makes daring production choices. (“Lowrider” interpolates, you know, that song). But beneath the booming production and drug inventories that run rampant on Tako’s Son are stories of deep loss and chosen family” – NPR

“Rucci is one of the few young and buzzing West Coast rappers capable of pleasing both emcee traditionalists and those seeking true starpower and hit-making potential… Inglewood’s chosen son is on his way to stardom.” – HYPEBEAST

“He’s become equally adept at writing fun party slappers and ferocious pain rap dirges, gangsta rap indebted to history but hounded by the demons of the present.” – The LAnd

“A formalist who raps with ease even at his most aggressive, Rucci bridges the divide between his ’90s predecessors and his peers in LA’s continued rap renaissance. If Drakeo the Ruler’s grumbling, slowed verses is one end of the spectrum, Rucci’s the opposite. He’s direct, pouring up but pouring less, popping molly and ready to party and rhyme with mounting momentum. Undergirding it all is the inherent tension that comes from making turn-up music colored by red paisley rags and blood-red tragedy. Beneath the celebration and self-medication, you can hear Rucci wrestling with what to share and how best to prod wounds that haven’t healed.” The FADER

    The Announcement:

Rucci‘s neck-snapping flows and raw storytelling ability helped him become one of the most promising rappers on the West Coast–and prominent hip-hop figures are taking notice. Today, Rucci officially announces his next project, Notorious, a full-length collaboration with hitmaking production duo Bankroll Got It.

“The first studio session we ever did with Rucci we made 5 fire records in one night,” say Bankroll Got It. “The chemistry was immediate so we knew we had to do a full project together.”

Known for their collaborations with Latto, Lil Baby, Coi Leray, and more, Bankroll Got It specialize in crafting singular soundscapes that mix inventive topline melodies with a radio-friendly sheen. With his raw Inglewood style and deep West Coast connections, Rucci is the perfect partner for the hitmaking duo, who grant Rucci’s street stories and furious flexes a sense of ominous grandeur. The Inglewood native operates with an unshakeable confidence, elevating his pen game to create 12 new slappers that stand with anything in his vast catalog of L.A. hits. Featuring appearances from a murderer’s row of West Coast figures, including O.T. GenasisKalan.FrFrBaby Stone GorillasWallie The Sensei, and Saviii 3rdNotorious arrives on March 24th via Mackk & Co./EMPIRE and is currently available for pre-order.

“Being from The Bay and growing up listening to West Coast legends like Dr Dre, we always wanted to make a classic West Coast album,” say Bankroll Got It. “Rucci has so much depth and detail in his lyrics that we wanted to create a storyline throughout the album. Like many of our favorite West Coast albums, we added skits and sequenced the records so the entire album blends front to back, to describe Rucci’s lifestyle and what it was like growing up in Inglewood.”

Along with the official album announcement, Rucci shares the new video for Can’t Trust It,” a Notorious highlight, following recent videos for “Lamb Chops” and “Flashlight” ft. Saviii 3rd. Backed by a slinky Bankroll Got It instrumental, Rucci slows things down, rocking a methodical triplet flow that shines a spotlight on his detailed and paranoid lyrics. Snaking between Bankroll’s sinuous guitar line and sliding bass, Rucci finds refuge at the bottom of his bong, dwelling on the positive and negative thoughts that spring from a long and reflective smoke session: “Take care of everybody make sure everybody know that/I’m him not Jim I’m the motherf*cking GOAT GOAT GOAT,” croaks Rucci on the song’s second verse. In the video, Rucci sits with his thoughts, with his boys, his bong, and a beautiful woman for company.

Since emerging in 2018 with his breakout mixtape El Perro and staking his claim as one of his region’s most vital artists with 2019’s Tako Son, Rucci has gracefully grown into his status as one of the West Coast’s top dawgs. Notorious is the proper follow up to 2022’s El Perro 2, which featured guest spots from G Perico1TakeJay, and Wallie The Sensei. Hits from Rucci’s deep catalog (150 million career streams to date) continue to percolate in the West Coast, including the G Perico collab Keep Killin” (nearly 10 million total streams), the Blxst-assisted ballad Understand (4.9 million Spotify streams), and “Hoodrat,” a Boosie Badazz-featuring banger from Kourtesy Of Us, Rucci’s collaborative project with frequent rap partner AzChike. Most recently, Rucci rocked the stage at Rolling Loud California, held in his hometown of Inglewood.

With Notorious on the way and Inglewood on his back, Rucci is determined to make 2023 the Year of the Dawg. Sit back and watch his rise.

    “HONEYBERRY 2”

    LISTEN HERE

THE GRAMMY-WINNING ARTIST & PRODUCER SHARES THE LONG-AWAITED SEQUEL TO A FAN FAVORITE 2017 SINGLE

    Critical Praise:

“Bourne’s raps are wordplay-heavy, funneling boasts about money and fashion, flirtations with lovers, and the occasional autobiographical gem through the tried-and-true art of the metaphor.” – Pitchfork

“Pi’erre Bourne just might be on his way to a Kanye-esque crossover.”Rolling Stone

“The Life of Pi’erre 5 reflects the lyrical and emotional growth Pi’erre has gained since dropping the last entry in 2019, while maintaining his usual high-level production.”Billboard

    The Song:

March 17, 2023 – GRAMMY® Award Winning Producer / Rapper, and SossHouse CEO, Pi’erre Bourne returns with “Honeyberry 2,” the long-awaited sequel to his 2017 fan-favorite hit “Honeyberry.” Like the original–an early document of Pi’erre’s melodic mastery behind the mic and boards–”Honeyberry 2″ is an impassioned case against catching feelings, complete with carnivalesque synths and candy-coated counter melodies. Detailing his feelings about a complicated relationship, Pi’erre uses languid melody and hypnotic repetition to drop some memorable quotes: “Say she in love but I know she lyin’/Say she want love but she’ll end up cryin’.”

Listen to the long-awaited release HERE

“Honeyberry 2” is the latest fan-favorite Pi’erre Bourne snippet to see release in recent weeks, following the February release of IG.” “Honeyberry 2” and “IG” are the latest salvos in what’s shaping up to be a busy year for the SossHouse Founder and CEO. Most recently, Pi’erre connected with his SossHouse signees Sharc and Frazier Trill to release an unofficial remix of Lil Yachty’s “Poland,” with a video filmed in the titular country.

The prolific Pi’erre Bourne had a busy 2022, highlighted by two full-length projects: Good Movie and Space Age Pimpin. A versatile effort released in the late summer, Good Movie demonstrates Pi’erre’s evolution as a producer and songwriter, home to highlights like “Moving Too Fast” ft. Young Nudy, the mutating situationship anthem “Love Drill,” and the percolating  “Psane” ft. Don ToliverGood Movie is available everywhere via SossHouse/Interscope Records. 03 Greedo Shares “Bacc Like I Never Left,” His First Post-Prison Single

    3.17.2023

03 Greedo Shares “Bacc Like I Never Left,” His First New Single Since His Release From Prison

The Prolific L.A. Legend Debuted the Single at Billboard’s The Stage @ SXSW Last Night

The New Single Is a Triumphant Statement for the Rapper, and a Preview of Much More Brand New Music to Come

Finally free and able to flex his boundless creativity, 03 Greedo is ready to show the world he’s still one of the most talented artists in the game. Starting a new phase of his storied career, Greedy shares Bacc Like I Never Left,” a new single and a resounding statement from the Watts, CA native. Recorded in Greedy’s halfway house in Texas, “Bacc Like I Never Left” finds the rapper twirling taffy-like melodies over room-enveloping production by Bighead. Switching flows as he creeps through the beat’s copious negative space, the L.A. legend makes clear that he’s been working hard behind the scenes: “Before I even got released I put some water on my neck,” he sings.

The Alamo Records signee debuted the new song during his performance at Billboard’s The Stage @ SXSW. His first full performance onstage since 2018, the 35 minute set was a cathartic and celebratory moment for Greedy, who performed hits from throughout his career, including his RIAA-certified hits “Substance” and “Trap House,” early highlights like “Sweet Lady,” and hard-hitting anthems like “Never Bend.” Appropriately, Greedy put a particular focus on his 2017 mixtape First Night Out, performing 4 songs from that tape including “Rude” and “Zoning.”

The release of “Bacc Like I Never Left” and the SXSW performance continue an incredible year for the West Coast icon.

With much more music on the way, 03 Greedo is making up for lost time.

Rich Amiri Signs With Internet Money Records, Shares Debut Full-Length Project

    3.17.2023

Rich Amiri Signs with Internet Money Records, Shares EVOLUTION, His New 12-Track Project

The 18-Year-Old Boston Native is the Freshest Addition to the Plaque-Stacking Artist-Producer Collective, and He Showcases His Inimitable Voice Over Internet Money Production on His Debut Full-Length

    Critical Praise:

“For someone who has only been rapping for two years, Rich continues to deliver nothing but perfection track after track.”  Lyrical Lemonade

    The Announcement:

Tearing up the internet underground with his velvety vocals and strong hitmaking instincts, Rich Amiri has spent the past two years turning heads in high places. Today, Rich Amiri announces his new record deal with Internet Money Records / 10K Projects. Founded by Taz Taylor, Internet Money is the industry’s premier producer-artist collective, responsible for a phone book-length list of RIAA-certified hits, a polished and innovative production sound, and boosting the careers of some of rap’s most exciting young artists. With his expert sense of melody and rich vocal timbre, Amiri is a perfect fit for the roster and a good bet to evolve into a major star.

For his first move as an Internet Money Records signee, Rich Amiri shares EVOLUTION, his debut full-length project. Produced in full by Internet Money, the new project provides a rich and futuristic canvas upon which Amiri can paint with his deep and soulful voice. The Boston-native rhymer is an expert flexer, whether he’s bragging about his illicit gains on the percolating “Dirty Money,” or proclaiming his own immorality on the cavernous closer “Can’t Die,” produced by IM’s Cxdy and Taz Taylor. Spanning 12 tracks, the project plays like a cohesive mix, with many tracks seamlessly transitioning to the next, with instrumentals that fill the room but leave space for Amiri to twirl his infectious melodies. The result is a dreamlike evocation of a world of Amiri’s own, full of Audemar watches, Rolls Royce Wraiths, and more money than one can count. Home to the recent singles “Poppin” ft. Lil Tecca and Salty,” EVOLUTION is available everywhere via Internet Money Records / 10K Projects.

EVOLUTION is the latest step in Amiri’s rise from SoundCloud to nascent stardom. In 2021, he released his hit Never Fail,” which recently surpassed 3 million streams on SoundCloud, which sparked a series of underground hits. Last year, the rapper shared his debut EP For The Better, which featured guest spots from SSGKobeSummrs, and others.

With his new deal with Internet Money, the respect of his peers in the melodic rap game, and a fast-growing fanbase, Rich Amiri is out to take over the game. Stay tuned for much more from the rising star in the near future.

    The Background:

Hypnotic and honeyed, Rich Amiri’s voice is like little else in rap. Having only recently started taking music seriously, his syrupy melodies have already helped him stand out from his peers in plugg&B–a slurry blend of soul and cloud rap that’s been taking over the internet. Amiri’s humble and nonchalant about his gifts but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of his scene’s most free-associative songwriters. He switches lanes with grace, as evidenced by some of the highlights from his recent EP Chase. Tracks like “J10” are low-key and sensitive, while “Never Fail” allows him room to rage, showing off his many sides in quick succession. Though the 18-year-old hails from Boston, he’s a child of the internet who’s been uploading bedroom recordings to SoundCloud since 2020. Like many Gen Z stars, Amiri is something of a one-man army. He says even before he made music, he was on TikTok “from sunup to sundown,” meaning he knew exactly how to get “Never Fail” to go viral—and it’s now inching toward 2 million SoundCloud streams. Amiri’s just getting started, but he’s already starting to accomplish his goals, reaching fans and sharing his innermost feelings. And yet, he’s quickly learned not to force anything. He’s made it this far by trusting his gut, after all. “If it’s a good beat, it’ll speak to me,” he says. “Then I make it speak to other people, too. “

Kenzo Balla, TG Crippy, & Rayy Balla Handle Some “Unfinished Business”

  • Press Release

Kenzo Balla, TG Crippy, & Rayy Balla Handle Some “Unfinished Business”

    3.17.2023

Video: Kenzo Balla – “Unfinished Business” ft. TG Crippy & Rayy Balla

The Ascendant Bronx Native Reconnects with TG Crippy and Rayy Balla for Explosive Video Single Ahead of Forthcoming EP

    Critical Praise

“…few songs feel as dutifully assembled as ‘Krash Out.’ As the sample gradually uncoils, Kenzo slashes right through the center. A weird phenomenon seems to happen, the rap equivalent of bullet time, where the listener gets an enhanced perception of the rapper’s speed relative to the world around him.” – NPR

“Kenzo Balla is yet another emerging voice out of New York City’s drill scene right now.” – Billboard

“Kenzo’s energy is magnetic” – COMPLEX

“Kenzo Balla’s commanding voice makes the new [“Let Me Know”] single an immediate standout.” – Audiomack

“Kenzo Balla is stepping into the game with sky high ambitions and a pen to match.” – IMPRINT

    The Video:

Combining the tireless intensity of an apex predator with a menacing sense of amusement, Kenzo Balla is Bronx drill’s most thrilling villain. Returning to clean house with his biological brother TG Crippy and frequent collaborator Rayy Balla, Kenzo shares his new video single, “Unfinished Business.” Unloading onto a frenzied, hair-raising instrumental, the track plays out like a boss battle, forcing listeners to lock into each explosive bar Kenzo rings off, lest they get swept up in the onslaught of hard-nosed flexes and colloquial flair: “I’m totin’ on Stacey, don’t play me/B****, I’m a demon, can’t nobody save me.”

The video for “Unfinished Business” unfolds at the same breathless pace that Kenzo and company maintain so effortlessly, though its playful edits and slick transitions keep the clip feeling fresh throughout, which comes in handy when a blink of an eye is enough to make a Jack Sparrow appearance go unnoticed. The video single arrives ahead of Kenzo’s upcoming EP, and follows December’s Mr. Ready to Blitz (Deluxe). In February, Kenzo shared a pair of tough-talking singles including “What’s The Move” and “Opp Huntin’.”

A rising name in one of the nation’s busiest rap scenes, Kenzo Balla made his mark on the scene with his relentless rhymes and high-energy vocals. Known for collaborating with fellow Bronx heavyweights like his brother TG Crippy, Kenzo kicked off his career with a frenzy of fiery videos, including local hits like “5th To Sev” ft. TG Crippy & Pdot Sav (2.2 million video views), “OOTAZ,” and the “Love Nwantiti”-remixing Let Me Know” (2 million views). This summer, the former AAU baller tore up the streets with Dead Gzz,” a vicious, uptempo missive that racked up over 1.7 million video views since its release in June.

Preparing to elevate his game to even greater heights with his upcoming EP, stay tuned for much more from Kenzo Balla.

    The Background:

Kenzo Balla evokes both the ecstasy and the peril of New York street rap. The Bronx artist serves up chilly bars over hammering drill beats for stylish, yet raw anthems that are drawing the attention of the world by the day. Teaming with frequent collaborators TG Crippy (his brother) and Jay Da Chaser, he blends those elements on tracks like “OOTAZ,” which drips with adrenaline and confrontation. While the track and others like it evoke unsettling force, they’ve also become the soundtrack of functions across the East Coast, and Kenzo wouldn’t have it any other way. Growing up in the BX, everyone knew each other and attended the same parties, but as he became a teenager, the drama escalated. Kenzo realized he’d have to change his lifestyle to survive. He’d spent much of his early years freestyling with friends, so he decided to record his first songs in 2018. After catching attention with melodic tracks like “Backends,” each new release earned more streams than the last. In September 2021, he unloaded “5th to the Sev,” an anthem for his neighborhood that garnered 1 million YouTube views. By 2022, he’d signed a deal with 10K Projects, alongside Crippy. With a growing fan base and an evolving sound in the works for a new project, Kenzo recognizes the potential of the moment he’s having now. On a grander level, he wants to rep the neighborhood that raised him. “I’m making music for me, my brother, my block, for the Bronx, and the whole city,” he says. “The Bronx is just me”.

Photo Recap: SoundOn, Powered by TikTok, Hosts SXSW Showcase

With Performances From Justine Skye, bbno$, Nicky Youre, and venbee, the Event at Austin’s 3TEN Showcased Talented Artists Who Used the All-In-One Promotion Platform to Independently Boost Their Careers

    THE RECAP:

SoundOn is an invaluable platform, designed to empower rising artists to succeed on their own terms. Last night, SoundOn, powered by TikTok, hosted a highly-anticipated showcase that offered some SoundOn success stories the chance to show off their immense talents. The capacity crowd at 3TEN in Downtown Austin–and some onlookers watching from the 2nd Street sidewalk–witnessed thrilling performances from charismatic rapper bbno$, R&B star Justine Skye, “Sunroof” hitmaker Nicky Youre, and rising singer-songwriter venbee, who used SoundOn as a launching pad to a major label deal. Each artist played a full set, offering spirited renditions of songs from their burgeoning catalogs. Earlier in the day, SoundOn hosted an Open House, offering artists and others the opportunity to meet the SoundOn Artist Services team, with music from DJ Yahdy Sensei.

venbee kicked off the night with an intimate and invigorating 30-minute set, performing her personal and tuneful songs like “messy in heaven” and “Low Down,” which helped her build a strong fanbase on TikTok. Columbia Records signee Nicky Youre performed next; his personable, breezy anthems and covers of songs by Neon Trees and Grouplove led up to a climactic performance of his Billboard Top 5 hit “Sunroof.”

The rising R&B artist Justine Skye played the penultimate set, culminating with a version of her 2014 song “Collide.” Justine’s set drew notable onlookers including Lil Yachty and 070 Shake.

Dressed as the world’s most foul-mouthed minion, Vancouver’s bbno$ closed the night out with a succession of his trending hits, including early TikTok smash “La La La,” the bouncy “Edamame,” and the introspective “Help Herself.” The rapper’s set showed off his unique personality: he opened the set with a RickRoll, read from a cookbook to reveal the recipe for the perfect BLT, and brought an audience member onstage to dance.

Throughout the evening, the showcase’s artists had nothing but praise for SoundOn. Before he played “Sunroof,” an effusive Nicky Youre thanked the platform for enabling him to independently release “the song that changed [his] life.” Prior to “Collide,” Justine Skye took a moment to thank “all the fans who made a TikTok to [her] song.”

SXSW was the culmination of a banner first year for SoundOn, which has already helped many artists grow their community, promote their music and get discovered. The future is bright for the distribution platform, with more stars, hits, and shows in store.

Trapland Pat & Lil Toe “Keep It Goin” in New Single

  • Press Release

Trapland Pat & Lil Toe “Keep It Goin” in New Single

    3.16.2023

Single: Trapland Pat – “Keep It Goin” ft. Lil Toe

The South Florida Stunner Taps West Palm Beach’s Lil Toe for Charged-Up New Single

    Critical Praise:

“He’s subtly melodic and catchy even outside of the hook. He does the beat justice by making what he grew up with into something new.” – Pitchfork

“”Big Business is the #18 Best Rap Song of 2021–If “Big Business” is any indication, Trapland Pat may well become South Florida’s next rap auteur. In less than two minutes, he deftly connects Broward County’s disparate styles, vibrating at his own zany frequency.” – Passion Of The Weiss

“10 New Miami Rappers To Watch…Trapland Pat is unlike any other act to come out of South Florida. Since 2019, Pat has consistently delivered grimy bars and smooth cadences over an array of trap beats. Over the past three years, the Deerfield Beach native has been feeding his growing fanbase with singles like “Emergency” and “Dealings,” along with four projects: Exit 41, Pak Man, Interstate Baby, and 2020 Vision. (The last two albums were released via Fredo Bang’s imprint Bang Biz Productions/Create Music Group.) In 2021, Trapland Pat dropped his latest project, Thru Da Door, via Bang Biz, featuring collaborations with Kuttem Reese and Members Only rapper Kid Trunks. He’s still pushing his latest single, ‘Boondocks,”‘which dropped last month. However, on Instagram, Pat celebrated the anniversary of his song ‘Big Business’ and teased a potential remix coming later this year.” – Miami New Times

“Over the course of the last few weeks perhaps no one else has hit the scene as hard as Pat…The Florida rapper raps with wide-eyed astonishment, seemingly at his own bars sometimes which become as animated as his facial expressions. To be honest, the sheer confidence Trapland Pat employs on the track here just makes you want to pay attention or risk missing out on something.” – ELEVATOR

    “Trapland Pat makes pretty music.”Stereogum

    The Video:

With a bright, buoyant flow and the lyrical agility to go bar-for-bar with the best, Trapland Pat is poised to reach new heights in 2023. Continuing his recent streak of searing street singles, Pat connects with his fellow South Florida native, the ski mask-wearing eccentric, Lil Toe, for “Keep It Goin.” Channeling his wide-eyed intensity and drawing inspiration from his college football career, the PepperJackZoe-produced track finds Pat at his most fired up: “If it’s up, then it’s stuck, they better duck down/Red zone, goal line, them loads ‘bout to touch down.”

“Keep It Goin” arrives on the heels of “Inside Looking Out,” Pat’s first solo release of 2023, and closely follows a pair of collaborations with red-hot riser Luh Tyler on “Backstreet” and “Can’t Move Wrong.” In 2022, Pat took his vibrant, tropical vibes to the next level, releasing his Trapnificent mixtape this past summer. Pat’s first release for Bang Biz and Alamo RecordsTrapnificent earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the project a “zippy distillation of his regional roots” and said that Pat’s music is “extremely regionally and culturally specific, like so much exciting and promising new rap music.”

Ready to build on his impressive 2022 and bring his South Florida street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be Broward County’s next big star.

  • Press Release

    J. Stalin Throws a Pool Party in “Issues” Video

    3.16.2023

    Video: J Stalin – “Issues” ft. Stunnaman02 & Lyjah

The Bay Area Boss Gets Up to No Good with Stunnaman02 and Lyjah in Latest Video from Prenuptial Agreement 2

    Critical Praise:

“Vibrant and exploding with personality, J. Stalin is a knowing, mischievous wise-ass whose charisma hangs between unapologetic cockiness and the ability to cut through rap’s fantasy-addled drug fetishism and provide sobering reality.” – Pitchfork

“One of Oakland’s illest MCs” – XXL

“As the owner of Livewire Records, West Oakland rapper J Stalin provides a place for the growth of incredibly creative, meat-and-potatoes Bay Area hip-hop. The label hosts gritty rubbery street music that navigates crack dealing devastation and grounded partying tracks with equal aplomb, with artists that range from Stalin himself to MCs like Shady Nate and Philthy Rich among others.” – SPIN

“This is what Stalin does: he takes things–sounds, human beings, grocery stores–and warps them into something extraterrestrial. It’s eerie, but you’re dancing anyway.” Passion of the Weiss

    The Video:

Solidifying his Bay Area OG status with a tireless hustle, J. Stalin works hard and parties even harder. Returning with a playful reminder that mixing business and pleasure is a dangerous game, Stalin shares the new video for “Issues.” Featuring San Francisco’s Stunnaman02 and Fresno native Lyjah, who is signed to Stalin’s Livewire Records, the highlight track from Stalin’s recent Prenuptial Agreement 2 finds the West Oakland artist basking in the life of luxury his hard work has afforded: “I’m so fly, I might not even land now/Ran them bands up, b****, now I’m the man now.”

The video for “Issues” opens with Stalin and Lyjah pulling up to a mansion, posing as pool cleaners as the owner guides them to the backyard before leaving the house while they work. Without a second to waste, the pair bring in a whole squad of swimsuit-clad partygoers, including Stunnaman02, for an impromptu pool party. The summertime vibes are plentiful and the fun in the sun continues until the owner returns, furious at Stalin, who’s having too good of a time to give a care.

“Issues” is the latest video from Stalin’s recent album Prenuptial Agreement 2, and it follows videos for album highlights like “The Boss,” “Basic,” “To Do List,” and “Backwoods.” The sequel to the 2010 breakout project that made him a regional star, Prenuptial Agreement 2 is a showcase for Stalin’s raspy vocals, brutally honest lyrics, and peerless ability to navigate mob instrumentals. Like the Pitchfork-acclaimed original, which brought guest spots from the likes of E-40 and The Jacka, Prenuptial Agreement brings an eclectic cast of characters, from fellow Oaklanders like Philthy Rich22nd Jim, and Jane Handcock standing up for the 357, and street heroes from other cities, like Florida’s Jackboy and Stockton’s EBK Young Joc, who sound right at home.

    J. Stalin is celebrating the success of Prenuptial Agreement 2 with the Livewire Reunion Tour, hitting cities across the West Coast. The tour reunites the original Livewire Records crew, including Bay Area royalty Philthy Rich and Lil Blood. The Livewire Reunion Tour hits Club Insomnia in Oakland on May 19th and May 20th.

Loyal to the grind and his family, J. Stalin is building a legacy for himself and the Oakland scene he hails from. With Prenuptial Agreement 2, the proudly independent artist cements his rightful place in Bay Area history. Stay tuned for more announcements.

Iceburg Where You Been?, Available Everywhere via Alamo Records

Mal Shines In a Powerful Video for Mixtape Intro “Miss My Dawgs

Spanning 13 Tracks With Production From 808 Mafia, Cashmoney AP, TM-88, and More, Iceburg Where You Been? Find the Rapper Embracing His Reflective Side

    Critical Praise:

“Anchored by his nimble lyrical ability, 1.5 Way Or No Way demonstrates how Yung Mal can rap with some of the biggest in the game right now and still hold his own.” – Complex

“Drenched in authenticity, New Orleans-born, Atlanta-bred rapper Yung Mal is looking like the next to blow out of the south.” – XXL

“Unpacking his latest triumphs and showing love to his neighborhood, Yung Mal bosses up in a major way on his new project.” – HotNewHipHop

“Yung Mal is on a fast ascension through the industry.” – ELEVATOR

“One of the most promising rising artists…Mal consistently brings interesting and unique flows onto stellar production.” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Announcement:

Respected in Atlanta for his fast-talking flow and fiery flexes, Yung Mal is ready to emerge as a leader in his city’s scene. Putting an emphatic end to an era of his career and starting the next chapter, Mal shares Iceburg Where You Been?, his new mixtape. A triumphant return to the scene, IWYB finds Mal in a reflective mode, answering the titular question by chronicling the victories and losses that accompanied his rise from public housing to prominence. He spends much of the album looking looking inward, reflecting on his brothers lost to the legal system or the streets and resolving to  better himself for the benefit of his family and his neighborhood.

Though he leans into his introspective side, Mal hasn’t lost his voracious appetite for flexing, as he shows on bangers like “Oowee” and “Invest.” Over 13 hard-hitting tracks, with production from the likes of TM-88Cashmoney APGo GrizzlyDY of 808 Mafia, and more, Mal unveils a variety of flows, alternating his signature syllable-rich tumbling delivery with languid auto-tune, clipped flows, or patter inspired by the legendary Bankroll Fresh on “Bankroll Flow.” Home to recent singles like Heavy” and Gah Damn,” Iceburg Where You Been? is available everywhere via Alamo Records.

Along with the tape, Mal shares “Miss My Dawgs,” a video for the mixtape’s heartfelt introductory track. Produced by TM-88, “Miss My Dawgs” provides Mal with fast-paced piano arpeggios to dance around with his tumbling triplets. Rhyming with auto-tuned intensity, Mal calls out those who counted him out, before paying tribute to the real ones who’ve transitioned: “They turned they back on me when I ain’t had nothin else to offer/First I was down now I’m up they call my phone I be like f*ck ’em/I done gave n****s my life but they still act like it ain’t enough/Glad I I made it, my life was rough/Man I miss my dawgs.” In the video, directed by Benmarc, Mal rocks a shiny starter’s jacket and emerges from a phone booth like Superman to perform the soul-baring banger.

Now firmly back in the game, Yung Mal is determined to prove he’s one of the hottest in the trap capital.

A versatile talent who mixes angelic singing with demonic rhyming, DC The Don has always cut a unique figure in the music industry. Rewarding his day one fans and giving his new followers a glimpse of the past, the Milwaukee rapper officially re-releases his DC DAHMER mixtape, now available on streaming services. Originally shared on SoundCloud in 2018 on Halloween, DC DAHMER is a fascinating portrait of the then-19-year-old’s burgeoning talent.

The new re-release of DC Dahmer comes with two brand new tracks: the lilting and heartfelt “Mood Swings!,” produced by Trademark, and the transporting, guitar-led “LSD Freestyle.” Both new tracks fit in seamlessly with the original material, demonstrating how he’s continued to explore and refine the sounds he first experimented with on DC Dahmer.

The original tape sounds nearly as fresh as it did upon its first release. The music leans into the Halloween theme, with songs about serial killers and horror film monsters: DC offers blistering torrents of terrifying triplets on songs like “GMFU” and “Freddy Krueger.” On the other hand, DC DAHMER offers a glimpse at the rapper’s melodic side, with highlights like the emo-inflected “Heartbreak Summer 2 </3 and  Featuring appearances from WavyPat and DC’s close friend, the late great Sad FrostyDC DAHMER is available on all platforms via Rostrum Records.

The re-release of DC DAHMER is the latest salvo in what’s shaping up to be busy year for the 23-year-old artist. In January, DC released the endlessly creative new mixtape SACRED HEART (+), home to standouts like “SRT / UMBRELLA” and “SHUTUP!” Following in the wake of 2022’s “FUNERAL Tour,” DC plans to hit the road again this year, starting with a performance at Restless Fest, a SXSW showcase happening today, March 15th. In May, DC The Don hits the road with $NOT on his Get Busy Or Die Tour,” where he will be a supporting act alongside Night Lovell. The rapper is hard at work on his third album FUNERAL, the follow-up to 2022’s My Own Worst Enemy, which has racked up over 55 million streams on all platforms to date.

Stay tuned for much more from the genre-bending rapper as 2023 moves along.

    The Background:

DC The Don is a rapper from Milwaukee, WI. In 2016, at the age of 16 and standing 6’7”, DC moved to Los Angeles to pursue a basketball career under Lavar Ball and alongside teammate LaMelo Ball. During this time, he fell in love with music and used his spare time to make experimental records which suddenly gained traction – As the public became increasingly aware of DC The Don’s talent for rapping, NBA player Lonzo Ball featured his song “Everything 1k” on the first Big Baller Brand shoe commercial, introducing DC The Don’s music to an even wider audience. DC signed to Rostrum Records in 2020, releasing his debut album Come As You Are on August 7th, generating over 125 million streams across platforms. The artist looks to reach another level with My Own Worst Enemy, his ambitious new album, available everywhere now.
