jetsonmade has a reputation for bolstering the careers of many of rap’s biggest stars, and he believes he has found the next one in Dallas artist Oodaredevil. After sharing their sparkling new single “AITE” last week, the rapper-producer duo shares its music video on Oodaredevil’s YT channel. Co-produced by jetson, along with Ej Stellar, Dami, and Akande, “AITE” uses sparkling synths and trampling 808s as a springboard for Oodaredevil’s melodic flights of fancy. In the video, directed by SXKHJOT in crisp black-and-white, the two artists rock designer and move to the beat before speeding off in a Rolls Royce.

Oodaredevil (pronounced “two-oh-daredevil”) grew up steeped in the Texas rap scene, idolizing rappers like UGK’s Bun B and Pimp C and admiring how his region’s rappers would manipulate their voice through chopped-n-screwed mixes. He started to post his own music on SoundCloud, building a cult following that appreciated his singular sense of melody. The Background:

Chase Shakur’s vision is both simple and unendingly ambitious. To put it plainly, the Atlanta-born artist wants to change the sound of R&B. On his new project, “it’s not you, it’s me”, the talented singer-songwriter transcends genre signifiers to conjure up a unique world. Armed with a deep grasp of the South’s musical history—hip-hop, funk, soul, pop, and R&B—Shakur synthesizes these various elements into a forward-thinking sound deeply rooted in Black culture.

Shakur’s decision to drop out of college to pursue music full-time led to him being kicked out of is childhood home. He couch-surfed and spent days in various studios, resting between songwriting sessions. This era helped him forge collaborative bonds with other producers and songwriters, some of whom went on to figure in his Forever N September collective, a group of musicians who helped craft the sound of “it’s not you, it’s me”. The Song:

Influenced by the sound and ethos of 90s alt groups like Jawbreaker, with a helping of Militarie Gun’s melodic assault and The Cure’s crushing soundscapes, Tigers In Cairo stands out in San Diego’s crowded band scene. The self-described post-punk band reached out to a kindred spirit, Tobias Grave of Chicago’s Soft Kill, to deliver “In Our Fields,” an atmospheric and anthemic new single.

Beginning with a wall of driving guitars before opening up into a tuneful chorus, “In Our Fields” offers a poetic representation of living through difficult times, warning against the instinct to withdraw from hardship and urging us to instead find pockets of happiness, whether in community, family, or another safe harbor. Grave makes his presence felt with a gravelly turn on the halftime bridge, his calming presence a contrast with the determined aggression of Tigers In Cairo vocalist David Martin. As the song builds to a cathartic conclusion, drummer Matt Yansch’s fills grow more and more urgent, as guitarist Gavin Rhodes and bassist Dennis Smith cut against his halting rhythms with driving riffs.

Yansch explains how the collaboration came about: “Paul and I have been longtime Soft Kill fans. The song started as just a verse and chorus, but as it evolved—with a mellow break and soaring outro—it became a full sonic journey. I had a feeling Tobias would sound amazing on it. We were already connected on IG, so I sent him the instrumental. He listened and said, “Sounds like Leatherface, I love it,” and that was that. He absolutely crushed it, and when David added his vocals, everything clicked just as I’d hoped it would.”

“In Our Fields” is the third single by Tigers In Cairo, following the releases of “Wavy Eyes” and their debut single, “Always Adored.” The band, composed of drummer Matt Yansch, vocalist David Martin, bassist Dennis Smith, and guitarists Gavin Rhodes and Paul Skura, is based in San Diego, California. Formed as a result of Rhodes’ New Years resolution to start a band in his new hometown, the group came together via a Craigslist ad and local networking. Taking shape one puzzle piece at a time, Tigers In Cairo eventually solidified their lineup and band name. Inspired by the Cure’s “Fire In Cairo” and aspiring to embody the ferocity of an apex predator, the band began recording music. Combining Yansch’s sharp sense of arrangement, with Martin’s lyrics, and Rhodes’ and Smith’s riffs and progressions, Tigers In Cairo have landed on a unique sound that they are continuing to refine. The band is making noise in their SoCal hometown, earning attention from Amplified SD and from national outlets like New Noise magazine.

The Background:

Born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a community of roughly 18,000 located near Pittsburgh, Eem started his career as a producer, creating and selling beats online, producing songs for artists like $NOT and T9ine, including the latter’s fan favorite tracks “BENZO” and “Revenge.” Eem’s success as a producer fueled his desire to become an artist in his own right. His career as an artist kicked into high gear when he shared “AWKWARD FREESTYLE,” a self-produced, personality-filled song that used elements of Tyler, The Creator’s 2013 song “Awkward.” The song quickly went viral, inspiring thousands of TikTok creations, generating millions of streams on all platforms, and eventually reaching the ears of Tyler himself, who gave the song his enthusiastic co-sign.

The Background:

Oodaredevil (pronounced “two-oh-daredevil”) grew up steeped in the Texas rap scene, idolizing rappers like UGK’s Bun B and Pimp C and admiring how his region’s rappers would manipulate their voice through chopped-n-screwed mixes. He started to post his own music on SoundCloud, building a cult following that appreciated his singular sense of melody. His 2023 album, Diary of a inky kid, vol. 3, earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the tape “hypnotic” with “beats that sound as digital as possible.” In 2024, Oodaredevil dropped multiple mixtapes, including Texas Tycoon, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

Born and raised in South Carolina, jetsonmade has become one of the most in-demand hitmakers in the hip-hop scene. He first drew attention as the producer behind DaBaby’s run of massive hits, including Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit “Suge (Yea Yea),” which earned jetson two GRAMMY Award nominations. jetson also produced Jack Harlow’s breakout hit “What’s Poppin‘,” reaching #2 on the Hot 100. Since then, jetson has collaborated with many of the hottest rappers in the game, including 21 Savage, Playboi Carti, Rod Wave, NLE Choppa, Roddy Ricch, and many more. jetsonmade is the founder of the Spaceboy, a record label and collective of producers and artists.

The Background:

A native of South Memphis, Kenny Muney grew up idolizing rappers like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Boosie. The Background:

Chase Shakur’s vision is both simple and unendingly ambitious. To put it plainly, the Atlanta-born artist wants to change the sound of R&B. On his new project, “it’s not you, it’s me”, the talented singer-songwriter transcends genre signifiers to conjure up a unique world. Armed with a deep grasp of the South’s musical history—hip-hop, funk, soul, pop, and R&B—Shakur synthesizes these various elements into a forward-thinking sound deeply rooted in Black culture.

Shakur’s decision to drop out of college to pursue music full-time led to him being kicked out of is childhood home. He couch-surfed and spent days in various studios, resting between songwriting sessions. This era helped him forge collaborative bonds with other producers and songwriters, some of whom went on to figure in his Forever N September collective, a group of musicians who helped craft the sound of “it’s not you, it’s me”. The resulting project feels diaristic and transcendent. “it’s not you, it’s me” is a reflection of Chase Shakur’s career thus far, particularly his mental toughness and ability to keep pushing forward all in pursuit of that one goal: To change the shape of music.

The trend has since spread significantly, with celebrities like Finesse2Tymes, Coi Leray and Dess Dior, and even pets attempting the trend. Red hot Chicago rapper Babychiefdoit recorded his own remix of the song, racking up over 500k views on YouTube. Even Kevin Gates himself has tapped in. Since mid-January, the song has racked up over one million creations on TikTok and hundreds of millions of video views.

Supa King has been a fixture in Huntsville, Alabama–a city with a rich rap tradition–for more than two decades. He started his career in his teens as a member of Slowmotion Soundz, a collective best known for “Lacs & Pieces,” a collaboration with a pre-fame T.I., before making a name for himself with mixtapes and local performances. As he was getting his rap career off the ground, Supa King was still in the streets, making ends meet the best way he could.

After spending some time away on drug-related charges, he emerged into house arrest in 2023, where he spent his time recording as much as he could. With help from his brothers, who were major promoters in the Northern Alabama region, Supa King earned collaborations from some of the South’s biggest stars, including Kevin Gates, who contributed to “Tell On Me” after a tour stop in 2016. Just as his career began to regain momentum, he was sent back to prison on a parole violation, where he served three more years.

Supa King has been out of jail for several years now, and has dedicated his life to the well-being of his family and community. Behind the scenes, though, he continued to make music, honing his skills and performing in shows around the city. When he learned from his nieces that his song was trending on TikTok, Supa King took the news as an unexpected blessing, and a long-delayed onramp for him back into the rap game.

Now as “Tell On Me” continues to rise, Supa King is ready to seize his moment. He knows he was put on this earth to rap, and after a carer full of setbacks, he is finally free to share his gift with the rest of the world.

The Background:

Lord Sko, aka Josh Fersko, is a native of Manhattan’s Washington Heights. Already a veteran at just 20 years old, having dropped 2 full-length projects, the prodigious lyrical talent continues to sharpen his sword on the upcoming PIFF, a sure-shot stoner classic. The upcoming album finds the young rapper expanding his classic NYC sound, with help from producers like Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, A Lau, and his right-hand man Arlo Walker.

Young Sko fell in love with rap music when he was still in middle school. Back then, hip-hop was in the fondly- remembered blog era. Sko (who refers to himself as “the rap Jeff Hardy”) felt himself drawn to the stoner side of blog rap, including Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Action Bronson, and Curren$y, who would later become a collaborator. After practicing his craft for two years, Sko decided at age 17 to share his skill with the world, teaming up with then-16-year-old Arlo Walker to create the 2022 album Museum. In 2023, Sko followed up that auspicious debut with the even-more- polished United Palace, named after the historic concert hall located in his uptown neighborhood.

Keeping ten toes down even as his star continues to rise, Eem Triplin built a devoted fanbase by being his authentic self. Opening up about his relationships as he embraces all-American iconography, the 23-year-old rapper shares the new video for “MISS ME?” Released earlier this month, the bouncy and tuneful “MISS ME?” is the latest single from MELODY OF A MEMORY, Eem’s forthcoming debut album. Regaling his fans with unfiltered tales of his late night adventures, Chow Lee always keeps it 100. The Sexy Drill maestro throws it back to the DVD era with “Kinda Up Off Talent,” his first new single of 2025. Foregoing most of the hallmarks of the sexy drill sound in favor of a midtempo bounce, Chow lets the liquor talk, spitting tales of ill-advised romantic exploits and offering advice for his fellow up-and-comers: “This n****s don’t have no morals, I swear, n**** I taught myself/Sometimes you gotta listen more than you speak, that sh*t gon’ help,” he spits in his signature sing-song. Directed by Wonton, the video pays homage to “The Come-Up,” the classic DVD and VHS series of mini-documentaries that track rappers on the rise. “Kinda Up Off Talent” keeps the same lo-fi energy of that classic series, giving BTS glimpses of Chow as he shops for a new foreign and sips Henny out of red solo cups.
