The Album:

A veteran in the game who has perfected his style over the course of two decades, Billy Blue rhymes with both power and finesse. The Miami rapper gives a glimpse into his life as a talented everyman in The Life Of Pedro, his new album. Over the album’s nine tracks, Billy Blue–born Pedritho Dorsonne, to Haitian parents–contrasts the glamorous perception of a rapper’s life with a harsh dose of reality, focusing on the pain as much as the pleasure. Singles “A Broken Love Story” and “Lil Yeah Yeah” illustrate both sides of the coin–the latter illustrates the early days of infatuation with a Miami bounce, while the latter shows how love and lust can curdle into jealousy and hate.

Rapping with a force that enhances the gritty realism of his lyrics, Billy adapts perfectly to each instrumental. He skates atop house-hop synths on “Right,” escaping his hardships with a night out on the town. “Lil Yeah Yeah” stacks Dirty South triplets into explicit come-ons, while on “Fundamentals,” Billy slides into the pocket with a see-sawing flow. Billy’s label boss Lupe Fiasco joins him on “Fundamentals,” as the Miami rapper brings out the MIT professor’s ignorant side: “B*tches want to play, I tell ’em it’s essential/Tell that b*tch to say no more, it’s instrumental,” rhymes Lupe. On the album’s final two tracks, “Uncle’s Prayer” and “Therapy,” both produced by Soundtrakk, Billy shows his reflective side, examining the consequences of street life and the scars it leaves, that never fade. The Life Of Pedro is Billy Blue’s first project for 1st & 15th, following a long career as a respected rapper in his city and beyond. Born in New Rochelle, NY to Haitian immigrant parents, Billy moved to Miami when he was 10-years-old. Experiencing periods of homelessness and neglect as a youth, he took the name Billy Blue as a reference to his emotional state (“blue”) and his survival instincts (“Billy” comes from “Billy The Kid”), rapping as a way to exercise his demons and process his situation. He built a reputation for hard-nosed lyricism, crafting local hits like “Riders N Sliders” and earning the attention of hitmakers Timbaland and Akon, who signed him to a joint deal with Interscope Records in 2006. Years later, he has become an expert at navigating the changing tides of the music industry, and he still commands the respect of the game’s greats. In 2024, Lupe Fiasco signed him to 1st & 15th, and brought him as an opening act for his 2024 “Samurai Tour.”

Billy Blue is a Miami-based artist whose journey to hip-hop mirrors the gritty realities of his life. Earning awards and nominations for her chart-topping behind-the-scenes work, Nija, Jersey’s finest, is ready to assume the spotlight for herself. Today, the Union, NJ-born multi-hyphenate shares “32nd Floor,” a sultry new single. Written by Nija and produced by Mike Hector (Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar) and eliasodt, the song recounts a romantic night in Las Vegas, as Nija and her bae escape from a watchful public by putting a privacy note on their door of her penthouse suite: “When we in the hotel lobby, all of them people ‘round me/Keep calm, but as soon as we go up, boy you know you got me/Keep it on the 32nd Floor,” she sings.

“32nd Floor” is a worthy follow-up to the Fall 2024 single “Unruly,” a confident, bass-heavy single that was the first taste of Nija’s new direction. This week, “Tell On Me” reached a new milestone, as it surpassed 2.5 billion short-form video views across platforms, with over 1.3 million video creations to date, and tens of thousands of streams per day. The song is still generating over 400k video creations per week, with tens of millions of views every day, behind a new camera-switching trend that picked up steam on TikTok earlier this month.

“Everybody wants to feel loved, and sometimes it isn’t the person you expect to receive that love from,” says DeeBaby. “I knew that my mother loved me, and I didn’t know my dad, and though I did have a father figure who stepped up, he had his own personal journey to go through before he could be there for me. Processing his pain through his lyrical anthems, Mozzy is the voice of the Sacramento streets. The Oak Park native takes the first step towards his next album with “UNDER OATH,” his new single and music video. Rhyming over distorted bass blasts and hyperactive plucked strings, Mozzy offers gritty tales and words of wisdom, urging his listeners to move like him if they want to make it out of the game alive: “The trenches only proposition: either life or death/Got a method to beat the streets if you ain’t find it yet/Then follow me/Cause under oath I gotta make sure n****s all gon’ eat/That’s just the dog in me,” he rhymes. “UNDER OATH” arrives as a music video, shot in crisp black and white, on Mozzy’s YouTube.

Mozzy is ready to follow-up his busy 2024 by releasing even more music this year. (Chicago, IL – March 4, 2025) – Sueños Music Festival, bringing Shakira, Don Omar, Peso Pluma and more to Chicago this Memorial Day Weekend, May 24th-25th, announces that a limited number of single-day passes will be available for Sueños 2025. The new single-day option delivers on a top request from the Sueños community, and offers fans more flexibility to see their favorite artists perform.

Single-Day Passes for Sueños 2025 will be available this Thursday, March 6th at 12 PM CT. Inventory is limited.

This May, Sueños returns for its fourth annual celebration of Latin music, culture, and community, bringing an array of A-List stars to Chicago’s Grant Park. The festival promises performances from heavy-hitting headliners, Shakira, Don Omar, Peso Pluma, and Grupo Frontera, while also giving a platform to many of the most exciting breakout artists in today’s Latin scene. On Saturday, May 24, before Shakira and Peso Pluma close the evening, fans can see reggaeton icon Arcangel, dembow boss El Alfa, rising Mexican music star Oscar Maydon, Nicaraguan-American DJ Gordo, rising pop star Maria Becerra, and genre-bending Mexican rapper Nsqk, and any more. Sunday brings the legendary Don Omar, along with Tejano troubadours Grupo Frontera, who close out a busy day full of icons like reggaeton vet Wisin, corridos tumbados star Tito Double P, Platinum-selling singer-songwriter JHAYCO, EDM DJ Deorro, Mexican rapper Bellakath, innovative riser Omar Courtz, among others.

Located in the iconic Grant Park, offering spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline, Sueños (translation: dreams) was created to be an inclusive event with a mission to continue to celebrate and uplift Latin culture and the extraordinary music, people, food, and amazing energy that comes along with it. In 2024, Sueños Music Festival contributed $240 million to the Chicago economy and paid $1,992,952 in direct rent payments to the Chicago Park District. Additionally, the festival generated more than $2.01 million in  amusement tax revenue for the City of Chicago and Cook County.

The Background:

Lord Sko, aka Josh Fersko, is a native of Manhattan’s Washington Heights. Already a veteran at just 20 years old, having dropped 2 full-length projects, the prodigious lyrical talent continues to sharpen his sword on the upcoming PIFF, a sure-shot stoner classic. The upcoming album finds the young rapper expanding his classic NYC sound, with help from producers like Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, A Lau, and his right-hand man Arlo Walker.

Young Sko fell in love with rap music when he was still in middle school. Back then, hip-hop was in the fondly- remembered blog era. Sko (who refers to himself as “the rap Jeff Hardy”) felt himself drawn to the stoner side of blog rap, including Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Action Bronson, and Curren$y, who would later become a collaborator. After practicing his craft for two years, Sko decided at age 17 to share his skill with the world, teaming up with then-16-year-old Arlo Walker to create the 2022 album Museum. In 2023, Sko followed up that auspicious debut with the even-more- polished United Palace, named after the historic concert hall located in his uptown neighborhood.

Spanning 19 tracks, including the hit “One Take Freestyle” and its Kodak Black-featuring remix, P2TP shows off 19’s considerable skills as it tells the story of his rise from the trenches to the top floor.

Along with the tape, 1900Rugrat shares the video for “Way 2 Geeked,” a mixtape highlight. Blessed with an apocalyptic instrumental by EliWTF, “Way 2 Geeked” is an ode to the high life, filled with the off-kilter and out-of-pocket punchlines for which 1900Rugrat is known: “Tryna spend some paper, I got too much in my bank/TSA lookin’ at me funny, Louis duffel bag stank/That boy shootin’ at the street, what you beefin’ with the pavement?/I ain’t never seen you with no paper, what you beefin’ with a banker?” he spits. Spanning 15 tracks, the album welcomes guest spots from a cross-generational array of Sko’s hip-hop heroes, including stoner impresario Curren$y, gruff-voiced traditionalist Conway The Machine, acclaimed lyricist MAVI, fellow NYC rap upstart Polo Perk$, and golden era greats, including Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Grand Puba of the legendary rap group Brand Nubian. With production from the likes of Statik Selectah, Harry Fraud, Tony Seltzer, A-Lau, FearDorian, Mike Shabb, Arlo Walker, the 18-year-old production prodigy who has worked with Sko for years, and more, PIFF has the makings of a stoner classic.

Along with the tracklist announcement, Lord Sko shares “Robinhood,” the latest single and music video from PIFF. Produced by NYC underground sound architect Tony Seltzer and veteran producer Grimm Doza, “Robinhood” finds the Washington Heights rapper on a vigilante tip, taking the law into his own hands as he floats through Tony’s cloudy instrumental. The self-styled “Newport Lord” flexes his sharp pen game, weaving internal rhymes and slick smack talk with ease: “Got it poppin at the party, got your partner shook/Different antics, I’m vigilante like Robin Hood,” he smirks. Shot in VHS style, the OutletInOrbit-directed video follows Lord Sko as he leads his posse around NYC, starting uptown and making his way through glitzy SoHo before hitting the outer boroughs.

“Robin Hood” follows in the footsteps of PIFF singles like “Understand” ft. Curren$y, a hazy single with an inventive video directed by Jason Goldwatch (Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Blink-182). In late 2024, Sko served up  “Stubborn,” the hazy Arlo Walker-produced stoner anthem, and “Lesson Learned,” the Statik Selektah-produced single that earned praise from Billboard, iHeartRadio and more. The Background:

Lord Sko, aka Josh Fersko, is a native of Manhattan’s Washington Heights. Already a veteran at just 20 years old, having dropped 2 full-length projects, the prodigious lyrical talent continues to sharpen his sword on the upcoming PIFF, a sure-shot stoner classic. The upcoming album finds the young rapper expanding his classic NYC sound, with help from producers like Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, A Lau, and his right-hand man Arlo Walker.

Young Sko fell in love with rap music when he was still in middle school. Back then, hip-hop was in the fondly- remembered blog era. Sko (who refers to himself as “the rap Jeff Hardy”) felt himself drawn to the stoner side of blog rap, including Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Action Bronson, and Curren$y, who would later become a collaborator. After practicing his craft for two years, Sko decided at age 17 to share his skill with the world, teaming up with then-16-year-old Arlo Walker to create the 2022 album Museum. In 2023, Sko followed up that auspicious debut with the even-more- polished United Palace, named after the historic concert hall located in his uptown neighborhood.

Lil Man J earned a viral following with his boisterous personality and country charm, but his new single gives his fans a glimpse at the pain he carries inside. “Ain’t Me,” the 19-year-old artists latest country anthem, dramatizes J’s inner conflict: as an entertainer, he feels compelled to make people smile and dance, but he worries that his fans will get the wrong idea, that he doesn’t suffer from the same loneliness and struggles that plague everybody else. Quebec, February 26, 2025 – For over 55 years, Festival d’Été de Québec has gathered hundreds of music’s most exciting acts in beautiful Québec City for eleven evenings of celebratory concerts. Today, FEQ annnounces the star-studded lineup for its 57th edition, bringing A-Listers of all genres to the banks of the St. Lawrence River from July 3-13, 2025.

As always, FEQ offers more than enough variety to tempt music fans of all ages and tastes. Folk rock superstar Hozier makes his first-ever appearance at FEQ, taking over the Plains of Abraham on July 10th. Fans of pop music can experience performances by established and rising stars, including GRAMMY-nominated riser Benson Boone, alt-pop artiste Remi Wolf, hitmaker Alessia Cara, viral model-turned-singer Suki Waterhouse, and more. Canadian country icon Shania Twain will make her first appearance at FEQ since 2015, headlining on the Planes on July 12th, following a set by Maren Morris. Rock music fans will be spoiled for choice, with huge names from all eras and sub-genres, including the one-and-only Rod Stewart, hair metal greats Def Leppard, alt legends Pixies, and indie icon Kurt Vile, along with dozens more names from Canada’s busy scene. This year, FEQ pays special attention to rock’s sub-genres, with Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan as living proof of Canada’s impact on Pop-Punk, and legendary metal bands Slayer and Mastodon providing a haven for the headbangers. Kygo, Don Diablo, and Cheat Codes lead a contingent of talented electronic performers. Also featuring names like Ice Spice, Thundercat, Farruko, and Men I Trust, plus a cadre of local Quebecois greats, and too many additional talented acts to name, the diverse 2025 FEQ lineup continues to establish the festival as a unique event on the North American festival schedule.

Festival d’Été de Québec hosts its main stage performances on The Plains of Abraham, one of the most notable historical sites in Canada, where, in 1759, the British and French fought a decisive battle in the Seven Years’ War. Now, hundreds of years later, the Plains of Abraham is the location of the FEQ’s main stage, with a capacity of over 80,000. In addition to the Plains, FEQ hosts five additional stages throughout the city, with two stages free to enter for the public. Each night after the festival, for no extra fee, FEQ hosts afterparties at the historic Québec Armory, for fans who want to dance the night away.

One of the aspects that makes FEQ so unique among North American festivals is the excellent deal it presents for local and traveling fans. Passes for FEQ are available for only $165 CAD ($115.28 USD), offering ticket-holders the ability to see more than 200 acts over 11 days for the price of $15 CAD ($10.48 USD) per day. Beyond that, passes for the festival are fully transferable: if a fan is unable to attend one of the 11 days–or if the day’s lineup doesn’t suit their taste, or if they just want a day off–they can share their pass with friends and family. This ensures that fans only pay for what they want to see, and provides performing artists with a fully-engaged crowd.

MELODY OF A MEMORY is the culmination of a two-years long rise from bedroom producer to budding rap star. The Background:

Born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a community of roughly 18,000 located near Pittsburgh, Eem started his career as a producer, creating and selling beats online, producing songs for artists like $NOT and T9ine, including the latter’s fan favorite tracks “BENZO” and “Revenge.” Eem’s success as a producer fueled his desire to become an artist in his own right. Veteran rapper Supa King Big Pope exploded into the national consciousness when his near-decade-old hit “Tell On Me” became one of 2025’s most viral songs. Today, the Huntsville, AL native teams up with another rapper from the Deep South, recruiting Baton Rouge bigwig Fredo Bang to appear on “Tell On Me 2.” The remix appears after Fredo Bang teased his verse on socials, garnering over 2 million views across platforms. Originally released in 2016 with guest verse from Kevin Gates, “Tell On Me” earned a second wind in January 2025 after spurring several TikTok trends, rocketing the song to the top of Billboard TikTok Top 50 Chart in consecutive weeks. “Tell On Me” first started to percolate in early January, with a airplane-themed CapCut trend that allowed users to flex their creativity. Supa King has been a fixture in Huntsville, Alabama–a city with a rich rap tradition–for more than two decades. The Announcement:

Chase Shakur made a splash with the release of his anticipated debut album WONDERLOVE, which came out earlier this month. Now, Chase is ready to welcome fans into his world of sensual stories and introspective R&B, announcing the “WONDERLOVE Tour.” Pre-sale tickets are available for the “WONDERLOVE Tour” starting February 19th at 10am local, with the General Onsale launching on February 21st at 10am local. The 16-date tour kicks off on April 24th in Houston, before making its way to major markets like Los Angeles on May 2nd (The Fonda), Chicago on May 9th (The Promontory), New York City on May 14th (The Gramercy Theatre), before concluding on May 23rd in Chase’s hometown of Atlanta.

Along with the tour announcement, Chase shares the video for “LUV IN DA 6,” a highlight from WONDERLOVE. A languid ballad with mutating synths and warped vocal samples, “LUV IN DA 6” finds Chase and guest artist Smino coldly establish their expectations with a woman who wants more than a casual fling. In the video, directed by Khari McCloud, Chase woos a complement of beautiful women, who eagerly try to win his affections by braiding his hair, ironing his clothes, and dancing to his music.

Populated with swelling synths and subsonic bass, WONDERLOVE is a shape-shifting and atmospheric effort, reflecting the contours of Chase’s mind as he progresses from infatuation to heartbreak and back, all in search of a love to encompass his whole being. Shaped by Chase and a team of producers that includes Isaiah Kaleo, Dahi, Go Grizzly, London Jae, and many more, the immersive WONDERLOVE blends a variety of styles, adding textures to Chase’s delicate brand of R&B. The Background:

Chase Shakur’s vision is both simple and unendingly ambitious. To put it plainly, the Atlanta-born artist wants to change the sound of R&B. On his new project, “it’s not you, it’s me”, the talented singer-songwriter transcends genre signifiers to conjure up a unique world. Armed with a deep grasp of the South’s musical history—hip-hop, funk, soul, pop, and R&B—Shakur synthesizes these various elements into a forward-thinking sound deeply rooted in Black culture.

Shakur’s decision to drop out of college to pursue music full-time led to him being kicked out of is childhood home. He couch-surfed and spent days in various studios, resting between songwriting sessions. This era helped him forge collaborative bonds with other producers and songwriters, some of whom went on to figure in his Forever N September collective, a group of musicians who helped craft the sound of “it’s not you, it’s me”. The resulting project feels diaristic and transcendent. “it’s not you, it’s me” is a reflection of Chase Shakur’s career thus far, particularly his mental toughness and ability to keep pushing forward all in pursuit of that one goal: To change the shape of music.

The Song:

Influenced by the sound and ethos of 90s alt groups like Jawbreaker, with a helping of Militarie Gun’s melodic assault and The Cure’s crushing soundscapes, Tigers In Cairo stands out in San Diego’s crowded band scene. The self-described post-punk band deliver “In Our Fields,” an atmospheric and anthemic new single.

Beginning with a wall of driving guitars before opening up into a tuneful chorus, “In Our Fields” offers a poetic representation of living through difficult times, warning against the instinct to withdraw from hardship and urging us to instead find pockets of happiness, whether in community, family, or another safe harbor. Grave makes his presence felt with a gravelly turn on the halftime bridge, his calming presence a contrast with the determined aggression of Tigers In Cairo vocalist David Martin. As the song builds to a cathartic conclusion, drummer Matt Yansch’s fills grow more and more urgent, as guitarist Gavin Rhodes and bassist Dennis Smith cut against his halting rhythms with driving riffs.

“In Our Fields” is the third single by Tigers In Cairo, following the releases of “Wavy Eyes” and their debut single, “Always Adored.” The band, composed of drummer Matt Yansch, vocalist David Martin, bassist Dennis Smith, and guitarists Gavin Rhodes and Paul Skura, is based in San Diego, California. Formed as a result of Rhodes’ New Years resolution to start a band in his new hometown, the group came together via a Craigslist ad and local networking. Taking shape one puzzle piece at a time, Tigers In Cairo eventually solidified their lineup and band name. Inspired by the Cure’s “Fire In Cairo” and aspiring to embody the ferocity of an apex predator, the band began recording music. Combining Yansch’s sharp sense of arrangement, with Martin’s lyrics, and Rhodes’ and Smith’s riffs and progressions, Tigers In Cairo have landed on a unique sound that they are continuing to refine. The band is making noise in their SoCal hometown, earning attention from Amplified SD and from national outlets like New Noise magazine.
