Charles “Chill” Patton, who co-founded the respected label 1st & 15th with Lupe Fiasco, is a connoisseur of tight lyricism, stacking the label with some of the fiercest rhymers in Chicago and beyond. The executive continues to showcase his ear for talent on Chill’s Spotlight Vol. 7, a new collection of standout songs from 1st & 15th artists.

Chill’s Spotlight Vol. 7 is highlighted by “Crash Out,” an unheard single by Chill’s business partner, 1st & 15th co-Founder, and hip-hop legend Lupe Fiasco. A dissonant and confrontational anthem by the rap legend originally recorded for the Food & Liquor sessions, “Crash Out” finds Lupe showing off his dizzying lyricism over a beat by The Buchanans, who layer discordant piano chords and buzzing guitar riffs over a piercing snare drum.

Beyond “Crash Out,” the EP shows off the strength of the rest of 1st & 15th’s roster: rising rapper Jus Ray runs roughshod on “Sonic,” a new highlight, arriving with a music video. In 2025, 1st & 15th released The Life of Pedro, a new album by Miami artist Billy Blue, and made noise with the release of Samurai DX, the deluxe edition of Lupe Fiasco’s critically acclaimed 2024 album Samurai. With a career spanning more than two decades, Lupe Fiasco has continually redefined hip-hop’s creative limits. The Background:

Luhh Dyl wants to keep you guessing. Poised to be the next big thing out of his city, the 21-year-old Detroit native has cultivated a devoted online fanbase, constantly re-defining himself, and his sound. The burgeoning rapper has coined his own unique subset of hip hop called “Cart Music ” built from a social media concept turned viral movement. From Michael Jackson to artists across genres, Luhh Dyl’s influences are heard in his eclectic sound, consisting of his raw lyricism and a punchy cadence layered on top of rhythmic, melodic beats. In his own words, he wants to make music that is “fun and unexpected,” saying “people have to listen carefully, because they won’t know what I’m going to say next.”

To his family, he’s Dylan – to his friends, Dyl for short, so when it came time to choose a rap moniker, the rapper says Luhh Dyl was a no-brainer. Dyl’s introduction to music came at an early age, freestyling with his brothers & friends. At 17 years old, he went to the studio for the first time, in search of a coping mechanism after his cousin’s passing. From there, making music became a passion almost immediately, and the studio continued to be an outlet for Dyl to express himself in ways that he never had before. He recorded his first song in 2022, tapping into his natural microphone talent and idiosyncratic delivery. Raised by a single mother and growing up in Detroit (amongst other places) he navigated an ever-changing environment, and had to mature quickly, but Dyl says his upbringing put him at an advantage. His experiences in his life have not only pushed him forward but would later serve as the inspiration behind his lyricism.

The Video:

A prodigious talent and a student of rap history, Luh Tyler knows what it takes to become one of the greats. The 20-year-old Tallahassee native takes his next step with “No Trick,” a fiery new collaboration with rising rapper Trim. “No Trick” is a highlight from Destined To Greatness, Luh Tyler’s next mixtape, coming soon via Motion Music / Atlantic Music Group.

“No Trick” uses a sample of Travis Porter’s 2012 club classic “Make It Rain,” updating it for the modern era with skittering hi-hats and pitched-down vocals. Tyler slides over the instrumental, rhyming in dialogue with the sample as he plans to prudently blow a bag: “I can make it rain, but I ain’t no trick/Ain’t gon pay for sh*t/I just pay attention, watch for n****s who on that snaky sh*t,” he spits. Trim counters Tyler’s laid-back cool with a furious verse of her own, spitting double-time about the things she will do to make a man throw some cash. In the video, Tyler and Trim start a party in a hair salon, throwing money in the air to get the dancers going, but still making time to get a fresh cut.

“No Trick” continues the road to Destined For Greatness, Luh Tyler’s next mixtape. Following up last year’s Florida Boy, the upcoming tape continues Tyler’s hot start to 2026. For Valentine’s Day, Tyler shared the romantic anthem “My Boo,” keeping his banger streak going with the flex-heavy “Kobe” and ultra-smooth “So Groovy.” Beyond his own music, Tyler laid down a scintillating guest verse on “YOU AIN’T GOTTA LIE,” a BNYX-produced highlight from Denzel Curry’s collective project, Strictly 4 The Scythe. Look for Destined For Greatness to drop this spring.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, FL, Luh Tyler took the rap game by storm as a teenager, stunning tastemakers and fans with his slippery flows and raspy-voiced witticisms. It’s why he’s quietly emerged as a vibrant voice out of his native Tallahassee, FL, all before the age of 16. Inspired by local favorites Wizz Havin, Trapland Pat, L.O.E. Shimmy, and more, he started to upload music of his own. Following “5 On It Freestyle,” he gained traction with “Jayda Wayda.” Meanwhile, “Law & Order” posted up over 3.9M YouTube views. The South Memphis maven teams up with Houston legend Sauce Walka to release “Caddy,” a new music video. Produced by Zekaj & Nitrosantana, “Caddy” is a slow-mo Southern slapper, boosted by a smooth bassline and reverbed-out keys, laying a tapestry for both rappers to tapdance on. A native of South Memphis, Kenny Muney grew up idolizing rappers like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Boosie. Luhh Dyl wants to keep you guessing. Poised to be the next big thing out of his city, the 21-year-old Detroit native has cultivated a devoted online fanbase, constantly re-defining himself, and his sound. The burgeoning rapper has coined his own unique subset of hip hop called “Cart Music ” built from a social media concept turned viral movement. From Michael Jackson to artists across genres, Luhh Dyl’s influences are heard in his eclectic sound, consisting of his raw lyricism and a punchy cadence layered on top of rhythmic, melodic beats. In his own words, he wants to make music that is “fun and unexpected,” saying “people have to listen carefully, because they won’t know what I’m going to say next.”

To his family, he’s Dylan – to his friends, Dyl for short, so when it came time to choose a rap moniker, the rapper says Luhh Dyl was a no-brainer. Dyl’s introduction to music came at an early age, freestyling with his brothers & friends. At 17 years old, he went to the studio for the first time, in search of a coping mechanism after his cousin’s passing. Today, the label announces Chill’s Spotlight Vol. 7, Chill’s latest collection, highlighted by “Crash Out,” an unearthed Lupe Fiasco song from the sessions that produced Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, which hits all platforms today.

Lupe Fiasco packs his bars with complex metaphors and dense internal rhymes, but his meaning is always clear. Originally recorded in 2006, and considered for the Food & Liquor tracklist, “Crash Out” is a crackling call for revolution, a missive targeted directly at the powers-that-be. Produced by The Buchanans, “Crash Out” is a confrontational and speaker-knocking anthem, layering discordant piano chords and buzzing guitar riffs over a piercing snare drum. Lupe intended the song to be both a lesson in civil disobedience and a wake-up call for the complacent, urging rebels without causes to get organized and keep up the good fight: “Rebel that don’t have a cause/The devil down and doesn’t pause/So we gotta keep it movin’ so the movement doesn’t fall,” he spits. Capitalizing on a major moment on social media, 414JungleBaby releases “Yo Baby,” her new single and music video. Already named a “Best New Track” by Pitchfork, “Yo Baby” comes with a beat that mixes Milwaukee’s signature lowend sound with breezy, propulsive R&B, with funky synth bass, airy synths, and bubbly Fender Rhodes. The new song is a showcase for Jungle’s taffy-like melodies, filled with tough talk and sweet talk in equal measure. Following the recent single ‘BANG,” “Yo Baby” continues a steady rise for 414JungleBaby, who veterans in her city have pegged as the Brew City’s next big thing. Since she was a child, has been making headlines for being unapologetically herself: she made national news in first-grade when a teacher cut off one of her braids in class. His music production work has earned him credits on Emmy-winning programs like Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and produced theme music for award-winning podcasts like Slow Burn (Slate), Another Round (Buzzfeed), and #Adulting (WNYC).

1 Umbrella’s album arrived just in time for the worlds of music and sports to converge on California, with the Super Bowl in Santa Clara and the NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. The 1 Umbrella rappers were outside during both weekends, sitting courtside at a Golden State Warriors game during Super Bowl weekend, then jetting to Los Angeles to film a music video for album highlight “Off Top” with Larry June. The group hosted a meet-and-greet at EMPIRE’s HQ in San Francisco, and launched a special pop-up on Montgomery Street during the album’s release weekend. The fearsome fivesome return this week with another banger, sharing “Yeah Yeah,” their new single. Blessed with a glistening instrumental co-produced by P-Lo and OMGKenny, “Yeah Yeah” layers chirruping vocal samples over thumping mob percussion, creating a propulsive base for the emcees to do their thing.
