The Video:

Fitting assonant syllables into complex rhyme schemes, Yung Mal has the East Atlanta rap scene on lock. Reuniting with his frequent sparring partner Lil Quill, Mal shares Exotic,” a new video. With a woozy instrumental from Pyrex Whippa, “Exotic” demonstrates the chemistry that earned Mal & Quill a legion of fans and a co-sign from Gucci Mane, as each emcee takes turns unleashing outlandish boasts: “I’m poppin’ my pockets they full of that broccoli,” spits Mal. In the video, Mal & Quill take us on a nighttime tour of their hometown, flashing obscene amounts of cash amidst the skyscrapers of downtown ATL.

“Exotic” is the latest release from 6 RingsMal’s recent project. Produced entirely by Baltimore’s Pyrex Whippa, 6 Rings received praise from publications like HYPEBEAST and XXL. Sporting appearances from Lil KeedLil Gotit, and Doe Boy, the collaborative effort featured 3 of Mal’s fastest-moving singles yet, “Blake Griffin,” “Goin’ Up,” and “Shut Up,” the latter of which racked up over 1 million views on YouTube. Earlier this month, Mal returned with “What’s Poppin,” an ultra-confident new video single (153k views).

Originally known for their Blessed Lil Bastards mixtape series and their local smash “Been In My Bag,” the duo of Mal & Quill built a loyal following in East Atlanta, reaching the ears of Gucci Mane, who signed them to his 1017 Eskimo imprint. Though they’ve lately been pursuing solo projects, Mal & Quill have reunited often over the past few months, tag-teaming Mal’s single How It Feel” in April, connecting this January for “Back @ It” from Quill’s Don Quillon mixtape, and joining forces for “Hold Tight,” from Quill’s Big Quill EP.
