The Video:

Renowned for his arsenal of smooth flows, Yung Mal is one of the freshest rhymers in East Atlanta. Reuniting with his close friend and frequent rhyme partner Lil Quill, Yung Mal shares “How It Feel,” his new single. On “How It Feel,” Mal & Quill let their vocals sit comfortably atop sinister trap production, continuing to prove they’re no strangers to the world of flexing: “Brick on my wrist, half a brick in my ear,” spits Mal. With Shotbywolf & Nelshotiit behind the cameras and Yung Mal directing, the “How it Feel ” video shows the pair passing their street knowledge on to the youth as they mob alongside kids carrying nerf guns and stacks of cash. “How It Feel” is Mal’s first new song since the release of 6 Rings, his March 2020 project.

Produced entirely by Baltimore’s Pyrex Whippa, 6 Rings received praise from publications like HYPEBEAST and XXL. Sporting appearances from Lil KeedLil GotitDoe Boy, and common collaborator Lil Quill, the collaborative effort featured 3 of Mal’s fastest-moving singles yet, “Blake Griffin,” “Goin’ Up,” and “Shut Up.” The 12-track effort is a testament to the chemistry between Pyrex and the Atlanta emcee, as Mal puts his own stamp on the lively hi-hats and innovative melodies laid down by Pyrex, finding a multitude of pockets and culminating in a collection of head-nodding bangers.

Originally known for their Blessed Lil Bastards mixtape series and their local smash “Been In My Bag,” the duo of Mal & Quill built a loyal following in East Atlanta, reaching the ears of Gucci Mane, who signed them to his 1017 Eskimo imprint. Though they’ve lately been pursuing solo projects, Mal & Quill have reunited often over the past few months, connecting on 6 Rings for highlight track “Exotic,” teaming up this January for “Back @ It” from Quill’s Don Quillon mixtape, and most recently joining forces for “Hold Tight,” from Quill’s Big Quill EP.
