The Song:

wfisfuneral changed his artistic direction this year, incorporating more melody to deliver his cerebral bars. Returning with his first new song since the August release of his album PAIN?, wifi shares “Back Track (Intro).” Connecting with frequent collaborator Nvbeel, who produced wifi’s fan-favorite “Peace Sign” ft. YBN Nahmir and fills the track with burbling keyboards and ringing hi-hats, wifi offers an array of auto-tuned witticisms: “In the choppa droppin’ bombs just like Baghdad, my shooters like Mad Max.” Released on SoundCloud, “Back Track” proves that wifi has much further to go with his new artistic style.

PAIN? marks a new chapter in the one-time XXL Freshman’s career, integrating auto-tune assisted melodies, giving his songs a tuneful lift. The album veers from romantic devotionals, to X-rated sex jams, to expressions of loneliness, wifi’s pitch-shifting voice expressing the deeply-felt emotion reflected in his lyrics. PAIN? is home to several well-received singles, including the Smoove’L-featuring “Ocean” and lo-fi pop gem “Lost In Time” ft. Coi Leray. 22-year-old South Florida rapper wifisfuneral has taken his dark sonics, mature-beyond-his-years lyrics, and trunk rattling bass from the streets of Palm Beach to the world, amassing over 1.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 700,000 followers on various social media platforms. wifisfuneral’s growth has been organic and cult-like, with his fans spreading his music like wildfire with each and every release.
