2.7.2019

Critical Praise:

XXL Freshman, Class of 2018

“[wifisfuneral] displays an impressive array of verbal acrobatics, showing off masterful breath control and a rapid fire flow.”  – Pitchfork

“He’s synthesized the regionless, borderless world of the internet age from which he takes his name, while lacing it with a narcotically addictive flow and a distinct ear for melody that’s allowed him to develop while others stagnate.” – NOISEY

“The young rapper has a wide range of skills, from agile raps and bass-heavy tracks to dark and moody slow-burners, and his unpredictability is part of his appeal” – Pigeons & Planes

“Wifisfuneral is becoming a hotter and hotter commodity in the rap world these days, and he’s making sure to prove his skillset as a lyricist in the game.” – XXL

The Video:

Two influential figures in the South Florida rap scene, wifisfuneral and Robb Bank$ specialize in lyrical bangers. Trading bars with infectious energy, wifi and Robb share “Can’t Feel My Face,” their latest video. Running roughshod over an ominous piano loop and stuttering hi-hats, “Can’t Feel My Face” is an artful flexers’ anthem, finding the two rappers trading outrageous punchlines that reference Iron Man, Wakanda, and the Gingerbread Man. In the video, the two rappers portray mad scientists who commandeer an ice cream truck, getting the neighborhood kids hooked on their glowing neon green supply of “Conn3ct3d,” their special concoction, also the name of their joint project; “Can’t Feel My Face” is the lead single from Conn3ct3dthe raucous collaborative project from wifi and Robb that released in January via EMPIRE / Alamo.

Delivering stunt-heavy verses over murky and head-knocking production, Robb and wifi display electric chemistry on the new tape, as Robb’s booming basso bounces nicely off wifi’s double-time slick talk. Departing from the dark subject matter that defines their solo projects, the two emcees enjoy each others’ company on Conn3ct3dcompetitively stacking syllables in a contest over who can stunt the hardest. Featuring production from the likes of Cris Dinero and others, and boasting highlight tracks like  the filthy synth slinker “Carro and the expansive piano-led epic “Nauseous, the tape gave rise to Robb & wifi’s 28-date “Conn3ct3d Tour,” which stops in New York at Highline Ballroom on February 15th and concludes in Miami on February 23rd.
