MP3: VNCHY – “Down With Me” (Prod. by Prezident Jeff)

Gravelly voiced 19-year-old rapper VNCHY is preparing for a busy year with several EPs in the works. On his new loose single, “Down With Me,” he introduces his edgy, boastful personality over production by Prezident Jeff, whose credits include Little Simz and Kevin Gates. VNCHY was born in the Congo, where he spent much of his youth before moving to Canada where he’s lived in New Brunswick, Montreal, and currently Ottawa. “Down With Me” presents VNCHY’s raw style with his gritty vocal quality unlike any other.

“VNCHY is more than just a pseudonym, it is a title – a declaration of ascendance in self understanding and self worth,” explains VNCHY, who admits that he’s always been fascinated by Leonardo da Vinci. “As an artist I tend to create alternate realities through my own experiences, as well as my peers. These realities feel somewhat dreamlike in a sense, from the lingering emotion of my first love, to the drunk eerie nights cruising around Toronto or even waking up in a Los Angeles penthouse with my closest friends.”

The young artist has been making music since the ripe ages of 15 but it wasn’t until last year that his progress made exponential leaps. He began his surge by gathering together a team of like-minded individuals and creating a business entitled MVMNT Collective Inc. He released his first single, “Bane,” on SoundCloud, and followed up with the track “Godlevel,” which was instantly recognized by Noisey, iLuvLola, Boi1da, AshleyOutrageous, Mechanical Dummy, and more. With this buzz, VNCHY has opened for the likes of Big K.R.I.T. alongside Two-9 and has performed alongside Post Malone on his White Iverson Tour.
