The Video:

With Yung Ralph‘s I Am Juugman project, Atlanta’s underground king gained mainstream attention for the Fetty Wap-assisted “Act A Fool” and Young Thug collab “Bands.” The project’s latest video single, “Tomorrow,” debuts via HotNewHipHop and is an anthem for living in the moment. “I trap like it ain’t no tomorrow, I rap like it ain’t no tomorrow,” Yung Ralph rhymes on the song’s melodic chorus, before switching up to a gravelly-voiced flow on the boastful verses: “Making these juugs, camping out dirty bird, I’m so Atlanta like Julio [Jones]/ think like it ain’t no tomorrow, twistin’ my fro let it grow out like Coolio.”

A pioneer of the new Atlanta sound that Andre 3000 once named as his favorite ATL rapper, Yung Ralph released his I Am Juugman album in December. “My role in Atlanta music has been to uplift the ones going through the struggle,” the rapper told The FADER in their premiere of the project. I Am Juugman was presented by legendary Atlanta DJ Greg Street, DJ MLK, and Swamp Izzo. The emcee’s inimitable voice and heavy sound has helped him gain traction, including co-signs from his peers, appearing in the opening scenes of 2 Chainz and Jeezy‘s “BFF” video, and getting social media shoutouts from Kevin Gates. In addition to his Rich Gang affiliation, Yung Ralph is a long-time collaborator of Gucci Mane and Zaytoven, and previously linked up with Nicki Minaj for “I Bought That.” Yung Ralph’s lyrics are genuine, honest, and impactful, filled with gems that share the story of someone that’s dealt with a significant amount struggles and successes, with humility and loyalty being his pillars for life. Yung Ralph’s I Am Juugman is available for stream and purchase.

Background:

In Hip-Hop, second chances are rare. But when they do happen, boy are they sweet. Icons like LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Snoop Dogg can attest to that. So can T.I., Kanye West, Pitbull and 2 Chainz. Now, looking to add his name to the short list of rappers who were able to bounce back from early career stumbles comes Atlanta’s own Yung Ralph with his latest effort I Am Juugman.  An early architect of the gurgling, codeine-spiked Atlanta sound, Yung Ralph began gaining traction in 2007 with his regional hit “Look Like Money,” which released via Universal Republic. A frequent collaborator of Gucci Mane and Zaytoven, most notably on their hit single “Bricks,” a short list of highlights to follow includes having teamed up with Nicki Minaj in 2010 for “I Bought That” and being featured on Rich Gang’s “Ridin,” as well as Young Thug‘s Slime Season stand-out “Rarri” – Thugger also shouts Yung Ralph out on “Stoner” with the lyric “I’m back at it, Juugman voice,” in reference to his “Back At It” single. Yung Ralph’s I Am Juugman is now available for stream and purchase.
