Expanding from two to three days and moving from Bayfront Park to Miami Gardens, Rolling Loud‘s Miami festival was the most buzzworthy event in 2018’s rap scene, bringing out 180,000 fans to see headliners like J. Cole, Future, and Travis Scott. Rolling Loud continued their domestic expansion in 2018, selling out bashes in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Rolling Loud is already huge, but they are only getting started–in 2019, they will host their first international festival in Sydney, Australia, and are set to celebrate their fifth Miami edition with their biggest event yet. Having conquered the live music game, Rolling Loud founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif look to impose their singular vision and boundless ambition and make their company a lifestyle brand that rivals Supreme or Nike. Check out profiles of Rolling Loud and its founders in The Wall Street JournalBillboard, and Complex.

The brainchild of rising super-producer Taz Taylor, Internet Money is a beat-making force and a model for a 21st century music company. Taz Taylor started Internet Money as a beat-making company and collective through which producers could make beats and sell them a-la-carte to artists. As Internet Money grew, Taz Taylor became a well-respected songwriter and producer, signing a publishing deal with APG, shaping the sound of countless rising stars, producing four tracks on Lil Skies’ chart-topping Life of a Dark Rose, reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Rich The Kid’s “Plug Walk,” and producing “Blue Tint” on Drake’s massive Scorpion album. Early in 2018, Taz Taylor recruited production prodigy Nick Mira, who produced Billboard Hot 100 hits for Chicago sensation Juice WRLD, including “Lucid Dreams,” which peaked at #2 and racked up over 551 million streams on Spotify. Profiled in XXL and Pigeons & Planes, Taz Taylor inked a deal with Alamo/Interscope to create Internet Money Records, signing Trevor Daniel and Chelji to be the imprint’s first recording artists.

Effortlessly blending genres and captivating with his resonant vocals, Canadian artist ODIE carefully crafts the sound of the future. Born and raised in Toronto to a family of Nigerian immigrants, ODIE springs from a diverse musical background. Equally inspired by three different artists, ODIE combines Fela Kuti’s rhythm and energy, with Coldplay’s atmospheric sounds and Kid CuDi’s palpable conviction. Combining ethereal melodies with subsonic bass and prominent, yet delicate beats, ODIE shared his debut album Analogue in April 2018, featuring quality singles such as the gorgeous pop song “Little Lies,” the smoothly syncopated “Night Terrific!,” the effortless-sounding lazy Sunday R&B jam “North Face” (3.1 million plays on Spotify), featured on OVO Sound Radio, and the Afro-bounce of “Faith.” Praised by Pigeons & PlanesDJBoothBillboardThe 405, and many others, ODIE has the rare ability to unify listeners in this fragmented age.

Combining classic southern-fried beats with a new school melodicism and an appealingly drawly delivery, Jacksonville’s Yungeen Ace channels his troubles into well-crafted rap songs. Building up a profile with his crafty songwriting and expressive vocals, Yungeen Ace won the respect of many of his peers, ranging from superstar NBA YoungBoy to deep south veteran Mista Cain, and developed a massive fanbase with over 683k followers on Instagram. Though he attempted to shield his brother from the hail of bullets by using his own body, getting shot 8 times, Yungeen Ace was the only survivor of the shooting. Bringing the overwhelming emotion from that near-death experience into his music, Ace shared his debut mixtape Life of Betrayal in August via Cinematic Music Group. Premiered by BillboardLife of Betrayal hosts several buzzing singles including “Jungle,” a poignant banger with an appearance from JayDaYoungan, which garnered over 8.8 million views on YouTube, Fuck That,” (9.2 million views), “All In” (7 million views), and “Betrayed” (3.2 million views). With a growing cult and a new lease on life, Yungeen Ace is on track to be the next King of the South.

TREVOR DANIEL

A velvet-voiced Houston singer-songwriter with a supernatural sense of melody, Trevor Daniel is the crown jewel of Taz Taylor‘s Internet Money Records. Born in Houston, Trevor absorbed the music of Pimp C, DJ Screw, ’80s synth pop, and ’90s techno in equal measure when he was a teenager, eventually creating his own genre-fluid music in his bedroom. In 2016, Daniel started to find an audience with moody and infectious anthems, landing placements on influential YouTube channels, earning millions of plays on singles like “Fool” and “Mirror” and earning 2018’s Best New Artist title from New Houston Music. Collaborating closely with Taz Taylor and the rest of the Internet Money crew, Trevor released his debut EP Homesick in October, which includes “Falling,” a mournful and romantic new single that landed on Spotify’s Alternative R&B playlist (735k followers). With over 1 million Spotify streams on Homesick, Trevor Daniel is ready to hurdle headfirst into 2019 with his delicate brand of rhythmic R&B.

FIJIMACINTOSH

A prodigious young talent with a gift for spinning saccharine melodies, Canton, Ohio’s Fijimacintosh creates ear candy for rap’s new era. Starting his career in 2017 at the age of 16, Fiji emerged with a brightly colored aesthetic, combining the manic absurdity of anime with the slick darkness of gangster films. “I want to make the world colorful,” Fiji told Complex. “I’m on the vapor wave aesthetic; Tumblr mixed with animation. It’s like walking through a dream but the dream is an acid trip.” In March 2018, Fiji shared his debut mixtape Satellite Crash, which showcased Fiji’s preternatural songwriting ability above adventurous production from Go GrizzlyCassius Jay, Charlie Handsome, Deko, Pooh, and others. The talented teenager was the subject of a short profile in XXL’s The Break Presents series and showed off his unique stage presence in opening dates for the likes of Comethazine, Yung Bans, and Smooky Margielaa.
