The Song:

Currently on his first European tour, 21-year-old Chicago rapper/singer/producer Saba embraces his travels on the uplifting new single “World in My Hands,” debuted alongside an interview via i-D Magazine, who states that “the Chicago polymath is our favourite new discovery.” Featuring Smino andLEGIT, the song was produced by Saba, Phoelix, and Dae Dae of CHAD, and mixed by Matt Wheeler and Bryan for Classick Studios. “Travel is probably my biggest influence outside of music, and it’s great that through music I get to travel,” Saba tells i-D. “I think interactions with people, even random people, are big influences on my music too. Through that I feel like I see how the world works and how people think.”

Born to a family of musical talent, Saba grew up to the sounds of soul, R&B, and jazz thanks to his father, whom he featured on his single “GPS” earlier this year. He began to play piano at the age of seven, and soon after he started to experiment with his sound on beat making software. At age 16, Saba joined the open mikes at YOUMedia Center and Young Chicago Authors, which he credits with giving him the confidence and charisma to perform onstage. With all these tools in his arsenal Saba has developed a career sound with appeal that spans from the staunchest old-school hip hop heads to a new generation of rap fans. Touring Europe this month in support of Jazz Cartier, Saba is currently working on a project slated for release this Fall.
