A Bay Area kingpin who spends his life on the grind, Philthy Rich is one of Oakland’s most respected artists. Adopting a percussive cadence over a slinking, key-driven trap beat courtesy of Zaytoven, Philthy Rich struts his stuff with some of his best bars on “Bounce Back“: “I took a loss and I bounced back/Took an ounce and I bounced that/Hit the hood with them two-for-ones/I was on my last tryna stretch that.” Premiered today by Dirty Glove Bastard, the visual for “Bounce Back” finds Philthy and his FOD cohorts counting money in the crib, as he shows off his Rolexes and makes an all-bread sandwich. “Bounce Back” is the latest video from Hood Rich 4, the prolific emcee’s third solo full-length of 2016, which releases November 18th.
Hood Rich 4 is the culmination of a very busy 2016 for Philthy Rich. In 2016, Philthy released two solo full-lengths, February’s Real N*ggas Back in $tyle and June’s SemCity MoneyMan, two full-length collaborative albums, American Greed with Maybach Music signee Yowda and Political Ties with fellow Bay Area street icon Mozzy, and treated fans to a stream of high-quality visuals. Last month, Philthy shared “Money In The Trap,” the Mass Appeal-premiered single with verses from Los Angeles’ Casey Veggies, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh, and D.C.’s Fat Trel. Earlier, The FADER premiered the video for “Fuck I Look Like,” which features Detroit rapper Kash Doll. Featuring additional appearances from Soulja Boy, Jim Jones, Birdman, B.o.B, G.
