Riding the menacing, bass-heavy instrumental like a fresh Cadillac, G-Val and Lil Yase demonstrate the power of street influence in “Juice,” their cinematic new visual premiered by Traps N Trunks. “Juice” finds the duo on the radar of an FBI agent, who attempts to catch them with the spoils of a successful deal, only to be outwitted by the juiced-up, syrup-sipping duo. Crafting yet another cinematic street saga, “Juice” flashes G-Val and Lil Yase’s cool-headed lyricism as they rhyme in lockstep with the beat. The third video from What a Time to Grind 2, “Juice” follows the bank-heist video for “Blue Strips,” premiered earlier this month by Dirty Glove Bastard.

Reliable purveyors of sidewinding, endlessly funky Bay Area sh*t, G-Val and Lil Yase elevated their game on What a Time to Grind 2, a lean, 10-track slap delivery machine. Opening up with a radio-style intro featuring testimonials from devoted fans, the album boasts Bay bangers of all shapes and sizes, the down-and-dirty, cash-anthem “Blue Strips,” and the the unconventional for-the-ladies anthem “No Good.” Despite the traditional allegiances of the Hunter’s Point and Sunnydale neighborhoods, G-Val and Lil Yase’s collaborations bridge the divide and unite the two hoods with their no-nonsense anthems. With What a Time to Grind 2, the two rappers perfect their formula for a lean, banger-packed 30 minutes, magnifying each others’ charisma over mob and hyphy instrumentals.
