A rap prodigy at the age of 17, Fijimacintosh is already a master of soaring melodies and a curator of a colorful aesthetic. Fighting for his life in a waking nightmare, Fiji’s abilities are put to the test in “Demon Slayer,” his latest video. Premiered by XXL, “Demon Slayer” finds Fiji snapping into action after receiving a mysterious phone call, throwing on his leather jacket and hopping in his foreign car, where he speeds around a nightmare landscape populated by psychedelic animations and beautiful models. Directed by Damien Aku and edited by Damien Oku and Osean, the video evokes many of the most stylish films of recent years, deftly combining images from Drive, Blade Runner 2049, Enter The Void, and many more. Brimming with soaring melodies and saccharine synths, “Demon Slayer” is one of the more radio-friendly tracks on Satellite Crash, released earlier this year. “Demon Slayer” follows the wildly psychedelic video for “Metallic Withdrawals,” the clip for mixtape highlight “Greatful Alive, I Could’ve Died,” which has over 168,000 YouTube views, and the colorful and trippy video for “Wintertime Nights,” which Complex premiered in March.
