The Podcast:

Influential tastemakers and facilitators of countless hours of quality conversation,¬†NPR¬†duo¬†DJ Stretch Armstrong¬†and¬†Bobbito Garcia¬†specialize in probing and witty interviews with notable cultural figures. In the latest episode of¬†What’s Good with Stretch & Bobbito, their NPR podcast, the duo sit down with YouTube comedian and activist¬†Franchesca Ramsey¬†for a deep and intersectional discussion. An acclaimed and self-made internet personality, Ramsey gained fame through her popular “chescalocs” YouTube channel about her natural hair, and now hosts the MTV News digital series¬†Decoded. She was a writer/correspondent for Comedy Central‚Äôs¬†The Nightly Show¬†and also has written pieces for Jezebel, The Huffington Post, and other outlets. In the interview, Stretch, Bobbito, and Ramsey discuss her new show on Comedy Central, her rise to fame in the early days of YouTube, and unfair stereotypes about African-American hair. With the latest episode, Stretch and Bobbito continue their run of fascinating and vibrant conversations, painting a detailed and diverse picture of our cultural moment.

As hosts of a cultishly beloved college radio show from 1990 to 1998, Stretch and Bobbito helped buoy the careers of artists such as Jay-Z, Wu-Tan Clan, Nas, Notorious B.I.G, and many more. The radio show was the subject of the Netflix original documentary¬†Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives, directed by Bobbito himself. With “What’s Good,” hosted by¬†NPR, the two amigos will bring their signature wit and empathetic interview questions to brand new conversations with¬†cultural movers and shakers in art, music, politics, and sports. Previous guests¬†have included¬†Stevie Wonder,¬†Chance The Rapper, Run The Jewels, Mahershala Ali, Vice TV’s¬†Eddie Huang, actress/director¬†Regina King, activist¬†Linda Sarsour,¬†CNN commentator¬†Ana Navarro,¬†and¬†Dave Chappelle, and upcoming episodes will feature even more incredible guests from the world of music, film, politics, and more. Last month, Stretch and Bobbito hosted a Reddit AMA, where they discussed their favorite emcees, the history of their classic radio show, their role as announcers for the classic video game¬†NBA Street Vol. 2, and much more. Stretch & Bobbito recently made their first two stops in a three-city podcast tour, kicking off in Brooklyn with artist and designer¬†Eric Haze¬†and actress/activist¬†Rosie Perez,¬†and continuing in Washington DC with¬†Michelin-starred Chef¬†Jos√© Andr√©s.
