HBK Gang’s Skipper adds to one of last year’s most talked-about groups’ hot streak with a new mixtape, Wet 2. The Invasion, Tha Bizness, Trackademicks, Hxrold & Christiamentalz, and Exclusive provide percussion-heavy, hyphy bangers as Skipper is joined on the mic by Iamsu! and fellow Heartbreak Gang peers such as Jay Ant, Kool John, CJ, and Dave Steezy throughout the project. A follow-up to 2012’s Wet, Skipper says, “My main focus for this project was my progression. I was really critical on trying to make this one go above and beyond what the original Wet did.”
In the first single from Wet 2, “That’s My Word,” Skipper stakes his claim as a force to be reckoned with, rapping: “They wonder if I’m ready, the answer is yes/and I ain’t finna stop ‘til they say I’m the best.” Today, The FADER, describing Skipper as “the smart dude with a muscle flow and bucket hat,” premiered the video for “That’s My Word,” featuring Iamsu! and Dave Steezy performing in front of beautifully back-lit San Francisco landmarks.
