The Podcast:

A genius songwriter and flawless multi-instrumentalist with a voice that resonates from generation to generation, Stevie Wonder is one of the most accomplished, acclaimed, and successful musicians of the past 50 years. Leave it to legendary New York radio duo Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia to find new angles of conversation and showcase a different side of one of the world’s most famous musicians. With probing questions and an easy conversational style, Stretch and Bobbito’s new podcast What’s Good, hosted by NPR, allows famous guests a level of comfort unmatched in most interview shows, inspiring them to open up about topics that many journalists gloss over in routine Q&As. In the latest episode, Stretch and Bobbito gently prod Stevie Wonder into opening up about his prediction of Barack Obama’s rise to the presidency, his spirituality and devotion to God, and how his devastation at the passing of Prince hardened his resolve to create and release more music in the time he has left. In this conversation, Stretch and Bobbito demonstrate their unique talent as conversationalist and showcase the wit and wisdom that inspires reverence in their faithful.

As hosts of a cultishly beloved college radio show from 1990 to 1998, they helped buoy the careers of artists such as Jay-Z, Wu-Tan Clan, Nas, Notorious B.I.G, and many more. With “What’s Good,” hosted by NPR, Stretch and Bobbito will bring their signature wit and empathetic interview questions to brand new conversations with cultural movers and shakers in art, music, politics, and sports. Previous guests have included Chance The Rapper, Mahershala Ali, Vice TV’s Eddie Huang, actress/director Regina King, activist Linda Sarsour and Dave Chappelle, and upcoming episodes will feature even more incredible guests from the world of music, film, politics, and more. Last week, Stretch and Bobbito hosted a Reddit AMA, where they discussed their favorite emcees, the history of their classic radio show, their role as announcers for the classic video game NBA Street Vol. 2, and much more.
