âIf the work under her belt is any indicator, a staggering talent like Sudie’s could very well be mentioned one day in the same breath as some of North Texas’ most notable women in music.â â Dallas Observer News
“‘Heart Attack’ is the first taste of the 22-year-old’s sound that combines pop sensibilities with classical training and a dash of experimental DIYism.â – Indie Shuffle“
“Sudie is as every bit as talented as has been reported. She has a crowd-pleasing ability to carry a note to improbably soaring heights.” – D Magazine
âHer style fuses the ache of Jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday with the same eccentricity reminiscent of European artists Björk and Karin Dreijer Andersson.â – Saint Heron
âSudie has been on my radar for some time now, and from the looks of things sheâs garnering compliments from others as well with each drop.â – Artistic Manifesto
Coming off of a flurry of releases from her forthcoming self-titled EP and a recent Dallas Observer cover story, Future RnB artist Sudie has been proving to be a prominent force in the electronic pop world. The uniquely creative soul has described her sound as, âsomething jazzy meets kind of crazy⊠if Bjork had arranged something for Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday to sing over,” and is further exemplified with her new single, “Asiasaurus.”
Accompanied by Godzilla-esque artwork, âAsiasaurusâ is produced by long time friend, classmate, and accompanist Ted Powell. On the history of the creation of the track Sudie explains, âWhen Ted first started working on the song, he initially called it ‘Protoceratops,’ which I loved because I have always had an intense fascination with anything dealing with dinosaurs. Next, Ted added this beautiful Japanese scale and thatâs what gave the song that extra sparkle and that Eastern flare. After that we both decided to change it to âAsiasaurus.â
“Asiasaurus,” conveys a dreamy, ethereal ambiance, displaying Sudie at her most candid. With the lyrics, âDonât wanna go back home / I got nowhere to roam / I guess Iâll stay alone,â mirroring spacious, moody production with swirling piano chords and distortion, the song illustrates a vivid narrative of someone who lost her way. According to Sudie, the track comes from real life experiences, “I wrote the lyrics after graduating from Southern Methodist University, but right before I went through a break-up and right before I started figuring out how to start my career. I was extremely nervous, I was panicking every day and I did not know what the hell to do with myself.”
Sudie’s self-titled EP will be released on August 26th via Black Milkâs Computer Ugly record label.

Merging classical training with a unique DIY recording process, Sudie is an artist whoâs truly forging her own territory. The 22-year-old singer, songwriter and musician, describes her sound as âsomething jazzy meets kind of crazy⊠if Bjork had arranged something for Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday to sing over.â Itâs a sound sheâs crafted all by herself, utilizing a pair of keyboards, a cheap microphone and a MacBook inside the confines of her tiny bathroom in Dallas, Texas, thatâs taken her to Dubai and back. The result of that unusual process is a distinctive but accessible musical style, which fuses confessional, personal lyrics with influences from across the musical spectrum. Sudie will release her debut self-titled EP on August 26th via Black Milkâs Computer Ugly record label.
