A creative in the purest sense, Lata Harbor (the latest artistic persona of Grammy-nominated recording artist/songwriter and most recently, screenwriter/producer Bobby Brackins) excels at whichever medium he tries. Returning to music after a two-year hiatus, Lata Harbor shares “Wash My Hands,“ a new single. Painting a vivid romantic narrative in a manner of minutes, “Wash My Hands” recounts the messy end of a break-up from the perspective of a man and woman. With guest vocals from Marc E. Bassy, Collett, and August 08, and a hush-toned verse from Lata Harbor himself, “Wash My Hands,” produced by Nic-Nac, offers an endless array of vocal and instrumental hooks on its way to telling the story of a couple that just can’t quite end their toxic relationship. Adds Bobby, “It also serves as a reminder to practice social distancing and to literally, wash your hands during this pandemic.
“Lata Harbor is basically my Gnarls Barkley to Cee-Lo Green or Childish Gambino to Donald Glover or 2 Chainz to Tity Boi,” says Bobby Brackins. “Like any creative, I’ve grown artistically over the years and I keep evolving. I was ‘Young Bob’ during the GO DAV days of 2005-2009, I was Bobby Brackins who made the song “143” with Ray J and co-wrote radio anthems for Chris Brown, Tinashe, Bieber, Ty Dolla $ign, etc. from 2010-2019 and now with my newfound love of screenwriting, I decided to change my name to Lata Harbor. Creatively, I feel like everything I’m doing has been enhanced and I’m stepping out of the box and digging deeper with my writing. Lata Harbor houses my new collaborative efforts with my favorite people to work with.“
A winner at the 2018 BMI Pop Awards for working on DJ Khaled’s #1 hit “I’m The One,” and Lata Harbor earned industrywide acclaim under the name of “Bobby Brackins” for co-writing radio anthems that won BMI Awards like Chris Brown‘s “Loyal,” and Tinashe’s “2 On,” Now returning to creating his own music under a new alias, Lata Harbor plans to evolve his sound, writing songs with more stripped-down guitar and piano as opposed to his more synth-based previous material, using more live instrumentation, and collaborating with longtime friends like producer Nic-Nac and other producers, songwriters, artists he has developed relationships with throughout the years. In 2018, the artist shared To Kill For, a luxurious 10-track EP, which featured appearances from Jeremih, G-Eazy, Tinashe, and more. The Oakland native recently secured funding for My Nina, his feature screenplay, for which he will co-produce and write all original songs.
