Gearing up for an EP release later this year, SoCal producer duo Crush Effect are honoring David Bowie with a free download remix of “Let’s Dance,” premiered today by The Music Ninja. In this remix, Crush Effect adorn the Thin White Duke’s classic vocal with jubilant synth squelches, enthusiastic horn stabs, vocoder runs, an epic sax solo, and rhythm guitar that would make Nile Rodgers proud. “Musically, David Bowie was always on the cutting edge and was such a big influence throughout the years,” Crush Effect explain. “Around the same time that he passed away, we were preparing our set for the Gem & Jam Festival and wanted to write a couple new dance tracks. ‘Let’s Dance’ is just such a great song and worked perfectly into the Nu-Disco context. It seemed like the right time to pay homage to Bowie.”
Crush Effect is no stranger to remixing popular songs, as they tackled Major Lazer & DJ Snake’s “Lean On (ft. Mø)” in Fall 2015, an effort which EARMILK called, “a remix producer’s total package.” “Let’s Dance” [Crush Effect Remix] is the duo’s first release of 2016, and they are currently working on an EP due out later this year. Crush Effect has been compiling a list of accomplishments dating back a couple of years, with the duo winning the Future Music Magazine 2010 “Claude Von Stroke Remix Competition,” while also scoring as a runner up in Kaskade’s 2010 Beatport.com Dynasty Remix Competition. Recently, they’ve gotten placements in a nationally aired Kia commercial with Blake Griffin, along with a Southern Comfort commercial.

Soaked in melody, the newest release from southern California duo Crush Effect is nothing short of spectacular. The pristine production throughout their latest release, Until The Next, evokes imagery of crystal clear water and sandy beaches, perfect for its Spring release earlier this March. Pulling from the infectious influences of jazz and soul merged with modern bass-heavy EDM, these two renowned musicians have created something truly special. Fans of Pretty Lights, Flume, and Rustie will feel cozy with both the visceral and buoyant sounds throughout. In addition to their success with their EP, the group has had some great placements – a Kia commercial with Blake Griffin, a Southern Comfort commercial. Crush Effect is releasing their single, “Let the Good Times Roll,” as a follow up to Until The Next.
