Melodically relating the realities of street life, Only The Family‘s Doodie Lo stands up for his hometown of Kankakee, IL (just outside of Chicago). In his element among his bros and a cadre of models, Doodie Lo shares “Lonzo,” his new video single. Wielding his raspy voice atop a poignant drill instrumental, Doodie Lo lays out his mission statement on the new single, revealing that his music is a way of life, not just a way to get rich: “2300 bring them 50s and them choppas out/Used to leave school, play point-em-out knock-em out/Now I’m in the booth every song put my soul in it/Stand ten toes down, I don’t need no n****.” In the video, Doodie Lo switches from the kitchen, where he supervises his operation, to the garage, where he dances by his coupe with a bevy of beautiful women. Named after the New Orleans Pelicans basketball player and Big Baller Brand representative Lonzo Ball, “Lonzo” follows Doodie Lo’s video for “Time Out,” released in May.

Alternating snapping bars with an easy-going auto-tuned rasp, Doodie Lo explores the melodic side of Chicago street rap. The Kankakee native garnered a local hit with his Lil Durk collaboration “James Bond” (153k Spotify plays), shined on his Lil Durk Presents:Only The Family Involved Vol. 1 contribution “Don’t Forget,” and earned over 110k streams on Spotify for “Time Out.”

With a young and hungry roster of Chicago-born emcees, Lil Durk’s OTF label signees, including breakout star King Von, have made their intentions clear–they’re coming to take over the game. Doodie Lo, King Von, and the rest of the roster, including Booka600, OTF Ikey, and Memo600 plan to release a steady stream of singles and projects throughout the summer, providing a realistic soundtrack to the most violent season on the Chitown calendar. The OTF crew demonstrated their talents in two label mixtapes released last year, Lil Durk Presents: Only The Family Involved Vol. 1, released last summer, and its sequel, released just before the New Year.
