Delivering another effortlessly infectious jam, Yung Pinch reveals his mission statement on “1997,” his latest single. Released as part of Pinch’s #4EVERFRIDAY series, “1997” is a bite-sized slice of bubblegum rap brilliance, with Yung Pinch rocking an addictive cadence over a beat from Charlie Handsome (Post Malone, Travis Scott): “1997 til my dyin’ day/Imma get this money, Imma ride my wave/Blunt town beach boy, who ya tryna play?/I can’t lose, gotta be successful, Imma find a way. “1997” is an excellent distillation of what makes Pinch special: sugary melodies and clever rhymes over breezy, beach-ready instrumentals.
