Video: Bryce Hase – “PastLife” ft. Asian Doll

The Emerging 17-Year-Old Singer Connects with a Fellow Dallas Native for a Neon-Lit New Video From His Wonderland469 EP

The Video:

Bursting out of Dallas with a loyal following of fans, 17-year-old Bryce Hase smoothly threads the needle between rap, pop, and R&B. Piecing together the memories of an epic night, Bryce shares PastLife,” his new video. A headphone-ready jam with immersive, chiming production, the young singer struggles to recover from a night of hard partying–he can’t recall what he did, or who he was with, and he wonders if he made decisions he’ll regret: “I don’t remember last night, sh*t felt like a past life,” he sings in a sighing tenor. Featuring an appearance from fellow Dallas native Asian Doll, who delivers soft witticisms with candy-coated melodies, the song comes together with a chopped-n-screwed breakdown, the distorted voices mirroring the faded feelings of parties past.

Directed by Chris Moreno (OT Genasis, Zoey Dollaz), the “PastLife” video is a psychedelic fever dream, telling the story of two parallel nights in a seedy hotel room. In the first, Bryce takes a mystery pill with a beautiful woman, and in the second, Asian Doll seduces a man with ill intentions. Echoing Bryce’s altered state, the video ends in mystery and tragedy, offering only a blurry idea of reality and chronology. “PastLife” is a highlight track from Wonderland469Bryce’s debut EP, which dropped last week via Dirty Hit Records, the label behind The 1975 and Wolf Alice.

Packing hook after hook into the EP’s 4 tracks, Bryce Hase welcomes listeners into his warped world on Wonderland469, showing a seedy side of Dallas that most people don’t know about. The EP hosts Bryce’s breakthrough single Off The Planet,” an upbeat breezy populated by blooping keys and a guest verse from wifisfuneral. With a video that premiered on No Jumper, “Off The Planet” is rapidly approaching 1 million streams across platforms. A bite-sized taste of what he can offer, Wonderland469  is the opening salvo in an eventful year for the young artist. Stay tuned for much more music in the near future.

The Background

Bryce Hase is an intriguing new artist from Dallas who at 17, has already attracted the attention of high-profile artists and collaborators. Wonderland469 is his debut EP and it cements Bryce’s position as an exciting young artist within a thriving hip-hop scene. The EP’s focus single, ‘PastLife’, features Asian Doll. It’s a hazy club track, and Bryce matches his catchy pop vocals with Asian Doll’s verses. His previous single from the EP, “Off the Planet” ft. wifisfuneral, is approaching 1 million streams. Bryce recently signed with Dirty Hit Records, the label behind The 1975, Wolf Alice, and others.
