Event: One Step Beyond: A Bay Area Function
Hosted by Shade45’s Sway Calloway with Appearances From DJ D Sharp, DJ Mind Motion, and Tap.10, the Event Will Celebrate Bay Area Hip-Hop in the American Museum of Natural History’s Rose Center
01.30.2018
The Event:
One of the more unique and influential regions in the history of Hip-Hop, the San Francisco Bay Area birthed such distinct styles as Mob and Hyphy and produced rap legends like 2Pac, E-40, Too $hort, Mac Dre, and many more. Celebrating the Bay’s hip-hop culture from over 3000 miles away, the American Museum of Natural History‘s One Step Beyond event series presents A Bay Area Function. Hosted by Oakland native Sway Calloway, this Bay Area Function will honor the region’s contributions to music with DJ performances from Bay Area DJs, including DJ D Sharp, DJ Mind Motion, and Tap.10. Occurring on February 23rd in the Natural History Museum’s Rose Center for Earth and Space, the event will offer a unique atmosphere for hyphy hijinks. So ghost ride your way to the American Natural History Museum (79th and Columbus) at 9pm on 2/23 to bring a little bit of Oakland or Richmond or Vallejo to the Upper West Side.
Each month AMNH presents a different DJ performing in the Museum’s Rose Center for Earth and Space. Guests can also take a walk up the Cosmic Pathway to the Hayden Big Bang Theater where acclaimed actor Liam Neeson narrates a dynamic flight through the virtual universe based on an accurate cosmic atlas. Beer and wine will be served at a cash bar. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended to guarantee entry.
