CRITICAL PRAISE:

“”We knew that the Latino culture across the U.S. was underserved of a festival that they could call their own. The response has been unbelievable.” This year, the two-day festival is sold out for the first time since launching, with 65,000 expected in downtown Grant Park each day.”
Billboard

“Music industry leaders have recognized the value of not only music in Spanish in the United States but the value of their fans and the need for spaces to celebrate them. Sueños, Chicago’s first large-scale reggaeton music festival, did just that, galvanizing thousands of fans from the city and suburbs, some traveling from different states. On opening day Saturday, most were of Latino descent, and some were not, but the power of music united them all.” – The Chicago Tribune

“…the joy and enthusiasm among fans was unmistakable. There is something very exciting about reggaetón and Latin trap—genres that have become global sensations over the last few years—being blasted throughout downtown Chicago. You don’t need to understand Spanish to feel the passion and pride of all the music showcased at Sueños.” – Chicago Sun Times

THE RECAP:

Spotlighting one of the fastest-growing genres under Chicago’s majestic skyline, there is no festival on Earth like Sueños. On the second and final day of Sueños 2024, El Festival Latino demonstrated its unique ability to bring together the Chicago’s diverse Latino community under the banner of excellent music and unfettered positivity – no matter the weather.

Early morning storms caused festival gates to be delayed, but this did not stop festival organizers from bringing the best in Latin music to the Windy City. Reconfiguring the day’s lineup to accommodate as many artist performances as possible, Sueños saw their dedicated fans gathered in the thousands to enjoy performances from quintessential Latin stars who have been tearing up the airwaves.

Colombian singer Maluma commanded the headlining spot, performing the night’s penultimate set, inspiring swoons throughout the crowd with his deep catalog of romantic jams. Raspy-voiced reggaetonero Mora also took the stage to fulfill the potential he flashed and symbolizing his rise to the genre’s elite.

Earlier in the day, Spanish singer-songwriter Bad Gyal flashed her inimitable stage presence and Gabito Ballesteros brought class and a full Mariachi ensemble to bring his corridos to life, including a guest appearance from teenage phenom, Chino Pacas, to perform their recent collaboration, “Tunechi.” As a treat for longtime reggaeton fans, Sueños welcomed an acclaimed duo who has been there since the beginning: Jowell Y Randy, now entering their third decade as major hitmakers.

Ahead of the night’s final performance from Peso Pluma, severe weather conditions forced Sueños to call an early end to the show for crowd safety. See the festival’s full statement via Instagram HEREPeso Pluma took to his Instagram to express his sympathy for not being able to perform due to the evacuation, and encouraged fans that he’d be returning to the Windy City very soon.

Through sun and showers, the tens of thousands of fans at Sueños embodied the joy, vibrance and resilience of the Latino community. Vemos el año que viene, y para siempre, en Chicago!

Proudly produced by La Familia Presenta and C3 Presents, producers of Lollapalooza, Sueños Festival has become an institution in its home city and one of the premiere showcases for Latin Music and Reggaeton in the United States. Every year, the festival ups its game, delivering a cultural experience that few events across the nation can match.
