CRITICAL PRAISE:

“”We knew that the Latino culture across the U.S. was underserved of a festival that they could call their own. The response has been unbelievable.” This year, the two-day festival is sold out for the first time since launching, with 65,000 expected in downtown Grant Park each day.”
Billboard

“Music industry leaders have recognized the value of not only music in Spanish in the United States but the value of their fans and the need for spaces to celebrate them. Sueños, Chicago’s first large-scale reggaeton music festival, did just that, galvanizing thousands of fans from the city and suburbs, some traveling from different states. On opening day Saturday, most were of Latino descent, and some were not, but the power of music united them all.” – The Chicago Tribune

“…the joy and enthusiasm among fans was unmistakable. There is something very exciting about reggaetón and Latin trap—genres that have become global sensations over the last few years—being blasted throughout downtown Chicago. You don’t need to understand Spanish to feel the passion and pride of all the music showcased at Sueños.” – Chicago Sun Times

THE RECAP:

Since 2022, Sueños Music Festival has been kicking off summertime in Chicago with performances by many of the biggest stars in Latin Music. The festival returned on a glorious and sunny Saturday afternoon, as the sold out crowd settled in for performances by over a dozen artists from across the Spanish-language spectrum.

Saturday’s headliner was Rauw Alejandro, who showed why he is one of the most acclaimed and adventurous artists in the game today. The Puerto Rican superstar left the stratosphere with his closing performance, featuring songs from his sci-fi-themed album Saturno and career highlights like “Todo De Ti” and “Fantasias.”

Before Rauw came a scintillating performance from Young Miko, the Puerto Rican rapper who is one of the island’s fastest-rising stars. After performing early in the day at Sueños 2023, the 26-year-old artist stunned in the penultimate slot, radiating an uncommon swag as she performed hit songs like “Classy 101” and highlights from her new album att. She also electrified the crowd by bringing out Spanish songstress Badgyal for their collaborative single, “Chulo Pt. 2.”

The festival’s first day was a showcase for Mexican music, featuring scintillating sets from stars who have scored chart-topping hits before exiting their teens. Riverside, CA heartthrob Ivan Cornejo serenaded the crowd as the sun began to set, moving fans to tears with his heartfelt corridos. Earlier in the day, rising hitmaker Xavi performed at his first-ever music festival, unleashing Billboard Hot 100-charting hits like “La Diabla” and “La Víctima.” Three-man Mexican group LATIN MAFIA showcased a different side of Mexican music, performing their melodic, mutating, crossover bangers for the receptive crowd.

The rest of Saturday’s show did not disappoint: Argentinian super-producer Bizarrap spun a dazzling DJ set, while icons like Rels B and Alvaro Diaz performed songs from their brand new albums for the first time live in concert.

Stay tuned for much more from Sueños as the festival concludes on Sunday with headliner Peso Pluma and many others.
