Rolling Loud New York: Saturday Recap

Hip-Hop’s Biggest Festival Brand Travels to Rap’s Hometown For a Day of Infinite Drip

Critical Praise:

“In four and a half years — beginning small in Miami, and now promoting Coachella-sized events around the country — Rolling Loud has established itself as a playground for the young…This time last year, many of the rappers now drawing crowds of several thousand were barely known.”The New York Times

“Rolling Loud is the be-all of hip-hop festivals.”Billboard

“The Rolling Loud New York experiment was a success—one which will likely earn it a return trip to the city in future years. Far from a traditional NYC rap experience, it was a two-day event that catered to the genre’s youngest fans, with an eye squarely focused on the future.”Complex

“In only its fifth year with four major destinations and more in the pipeline overseas, athletes, celebrities and others are forking over as much as $20,000 for VIP packages. Of course, imitators are cropping up.” Pollstar

The Recap:

With a grandeur and scale befitting the festival’s Empire City surroundings, Rolling Loud New York is one of the defining rap events of 2019. On the first day of the inaugural edition of this festival, there was a palpable electricity as rap’s elite descended upon Citi Field in Queens, bringing their A-game to fit the occasion. Closing with a characteristically epic Travis Scott performance, Saturday also boasted an energetic, Meek Mill taking the stage with guest spots from Calboy and Wale, a performance by the full Wu-Tang Clan, and hometown sets from nearly a dozen NY stars, from Fat Joe to Lil TJay.

Additional highlights include Playboi Carti earning a rapturous response for both his hits and his leaks, YG giving his take on the day’s trending topics, Young M.A. bringing a heavy dose of Brooklyn to the Sauce Stage, new Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant chilling backstage, and much more.
