With a elastic and gravelly voice capable of switching on a dime from melody to rhythm, Rod Wave is one of Florida’s most promising rising rappers. Bringing out the block in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Rod Wave celebrates his rise in “Yessir!,” his latest single. The video kicks off with grainy clips of Rod’s early career highlights, ranging from him rhyming in his high school while percussively banging on his locker to a sold-out concert, before Rod heads out to a local park with a massive squad. “Yessir!” is the latest video from Hunger Games 3, Rod’s December 2018 mixtape, following “Feel The Same Way,” which features an appearance from Moneybagg Yo.
Described as “street gospel” by guest artist Moneybagg Yo, Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs.
