Video: Rod Wave – “Fly” (Prod. by Drum Dummie)

The Alamo Records Signee Vibes With His Fans On Tour in the Video For His First New Single Since the Release of PTSD

Critical Praise:

“The 19-year-old can rap at a brisk pace like an ATL rapper, hit a falsetto like a R&B singer, and often digs deep to unleash a gravelly voice that sounds like he‚Äôs the lead in a country rock band…he already possesses one of the best voices in the South.”¬†–¬†Pitchfork

‚ÄúIf you‚Äôre not familiar with the sounds of Rod Wave, he‚Äôs certainly one of the most talented acts to come out of Florida in some time.‚ÄĚ –¬†The Modern Life Mag

‚ÄúOne of Florida‚Äôs finest musicians‚Ä̬†–¬†ELEVATOR

The Video:

The new standard bearer for melodic southern rap,¬†Rod Wave¬†bares his soul on every track. On his new track,¬†Fly,”¬†Rod showcases¬†his versatile and silky smooth singing voice, which switches from angelic falsetto to ferocious growls to reflect the emotional trauma and turbulence of his lyrics. Skating atop¬†Drum Dummie’s¬†piano-led production, Rod stresses the importance of keeping a positive attitude through trials and tribulations: “Through all of the issues and all of the pain/I’ll find happiness again.” In the video, Rod shows scenes from his recent headlining tour, performing for fans who excitedly shout his lyrics back at him. “Fly” is the St. Petersburg, FL rapper’s first new song since¬†PTSD, his recent mixtape.

Along with his new video, Rod announces a brand new¬†official site, where fans can purchase Rod Wave merch. The site offers a¬†PTSD-inspired t-shirt in both black and white, and a black hoodie with Rod’s own logo.

Released in June,¬†PTSD¬†collects Rod’s soulful, introspective, and hard-hitting recent singles, including his mission statement “Popular Loner” (7.9 million YouTube views and a recent¬†Genius Verified¬†video), the guitar-speckled recounting of his rise¬†Tru Story,”¬†and the brilliantly-sung¬†Hard Times”¬†(1.6 million streams on its official YouTube audio). The new mixtape shows Rod’s romantic side the devotional love song¬†Paint The Sky Red,¬†reaches a celebratory peak with¬†Calabasas,”¬†which features an appearance from rap legend¬†E-40,¬†and shows a great deal of self-awareness on the¬†Pitchfork-approved¬†Heart On Ice.¬†With production from¬†Go Grizzly, TNT, D Major, Yung Tago, and more,¬†PTSD¬†is available everywhere via¬†Alamo Records.

Rod Wave is currently on the road, headlining the¬†“Heart On Ice Tour,” which tours several cities around Florida and Georgia before bouncing to the West Coast in August, including a date in Los Angeles on August 23rd at Catch One. Fans will have the chance to catch Rod later this year on a tour in October and November.
