Harlem renaissance man Ro Ransom is known for his exquisite taste and genre experimentation, grounding his inventive songs in the hip-hop and modern R&B tradition. With the dramatic and expansive “Stop The World,“ Ro might have dropped his most ambitious song yet. Evoking in equal parts 808s-era Kanye West, late 80s Phil Collins, and the Drive soundtrack, “Stop The World” is a room-enveloping love song. Opening with churning, mechanical guitar rumbling over ethereal synth, wispy vocal samples, and booming bass, the Leven Kali-produced track opens up and transforms at the midway point, introducing a disco drumbeat and chamber strings for a formidable emotional climax. “Stop The World” is the third single from Ro’s upcoming project Momentum, following the hit single “Doppelgänger,” which Spotify listed on their Most Necessary playlist, and the Beats 1-premiered, Jazz Cartier-featuring “Prettiest.”

Ro Ransom is a 23-year-old hip-hop artist hailing from Manhattan, New York, a place he calls Wonderland. Born to two parents with musical backgrounds (his father being a drummer for the late Whitney Houston and others), entertainment was always in his blood. He’s cited people such as Sasha Grey and Jeff Hardy as influences for what leads his style in such a dark, sensual direction.
