Rod Wave & Moneybagg Yo Take You to Church with the “Feel The Same Way” Video

Video: Rod Wave – “Feel The Same Way”

The St. Petersburg, FL-born Alamo/Interscope Signee Shares a Moving Collection of Soulful Trap Songs, Featuring Moneybagg Yo as the Only Guest Artist

12.12.18

Critical Praise:

If you’re not familiar with the sounds of Rod Wave, he’s certainly one of the most talented acts to come out of Florida in some time.” – The Modern Life Mag

“One of Florida’s finest musicians”ELEVATOR

The Video:

Pioneering a melodic and deep-feeling brand of southern rap music, Rod Wave’s evocative style overflows with emotion. Radiating with gratitude for his fans and friends, Rod Wave shares “Feel The Same Way,” his latest music video. Produced with Southern-fried flair by Drum Dummie, one of the region’s rising producers, Rod declares his allegiance to his day ones and his loyal supporters: “I got love for all my n****s from the graveyard to the state yard,” rhymes Rod. In the video, Rod and guest artist Moneybagg Yo chill in Florida, bouncing from the skyscrapers of Miami to the canals of St. Petersburg as Rod shouts out his ATRcrew. “Feel The Same Way” is among the standout tracks from Hunger Games 3, which dropped last Friday via Alamo/Interscope.

Described as “street gospel” by guest artist Moneybagg Yo, Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs. Bounding between octaves and effortlessly switching from percussive rhymes to soaring melodies, Rod triumphantly celebrates his rising star status on recent single Yessir!,” reflects on his friends’ struggles with drug addiction on “Numb,” and flexes his pen game in the extended metaphor “Heart 4 Sale.” Featuring production from the likes of Go Grizzly, Drum Dummie, and others, Hunger Games 3 is a generous showcase of Rod’s supernatural sense of soul.

A rapper from St. Petersburg, Florida, Rod Wave started to build a regional buzz off the strength of his Hunger Games series and collaborations with peers such as GlokkNine. Two of his most recent singles, “Valid,” and “Heart 4 Sale,” have been bubbling in the South, with the former earning a place on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist. Earlier this month, Rod shared the moving video forJan2Jan,”a highlight from Hunger Games 2his buzzing project released in May 2018. Earning praise from Kevin Gates and Moneybagg Yo for his penchant for catchy melody, Rod is just getting started.

OTF Signee King Von Dramatizes a “Crazy Story” in a Charismatic Video

  • Press Release

OTF Signee King Von Dramatizes a “Crazy Story” in a Charismatic Video

Video: King Von – “Crazy Story”

The Lil Durk Protege Gives the Visual Treatment to the Lead Single From Only The Family Involved Vol. 2, Releasing on December 21st

    12.11.2018

    The Video:

With a steely intensity and a soft-spoken charisma, King Von’s lyrical realism caught the ear of Lil Durk. Flexing his expert storytelling ability, Von recounts a tale of a robbery gone wrong in Crazy Story,” his latest single. Von mimics a conversational patter, packing his story with intimate detail, but also building in digressions and brags: “I’m just laughin/Coulda been a pimp, the way I move my lip/I be speedin’/Coulda been a driver, the way I push the whip.” In the video, Von enthusiastically relates the story to his boys, intercut with dramatized clips of the gripping story. “Crazy Story” is an excellent introduction to King Von, showing all the skills that convinced Lil Durk to sign Von to his Only The Family label.

“Crazy Story” will appear on Only The Family Involved Vol. 2Lil Durk’s upcoming label compilation mixtape for his Only The Family crew. The follow-up to this summer’s Only The Family Involved Vol. 1Vol. 2 is a celebration and a coronation for King Von, who seamlessly fits in with the rest of the label. Featuring numerous contributions from OTF standouts like Booka600, OTF IkeyDoodie Lo, and more, Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 releases on December 21st via EMPIRE.

King Von was born in the South Side of Chicago, growing up in O Block, the area that produced Chief Keef. Blinded by the poverty and violence of his neighborhood, Von turned to a life of crime at an early age, stealing bikes in middle school, and running with gangs in high school. At age 16, Von went to jail for the first time, commencing a near-decade where Von did not spend more than a full year out of prison. After rightfully beating an erroneous murder charge that could have put him away for life, King Von took inspiration from heroes like Lil Wayne and turned to rapping, linking up with Lil Durk who put him on. Within six months, Von had a series of viral hits, including the sinister Problems,” which has over 1.2 million views after its debut on Lil Durk’s YouTube channel, and the defiant “War Wit Us,” which has over 832k YouTube views in its first month of release.

Stay tuned for Only The Family Involved Vol. 2, coming December 21st.

24hrs Focuses on Life’s Most Important Things in the Glowing “Family and Money” Video

  • Press Release

24hrs Focuses on Life’s Most Important Things in the Glowing “Family and Money” Video

    Video: 24hrs – “Family & Money” (Prod. by Hit-Boy)

The ATL Singer Gives the Visual Treatment to the Introductory Track from Houses On The Hill, His Debut Studio Album

    12.11.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Without any context, 24hrs’ music is like listening to an alien who recently landed on Earth, heard some songs by Young Thug, Jeremih, and Rae Sremmurd, and started making his own. It draws from the current sounds in hip-hop and R&B, but there’s something slightly off about it, and this is what makes it so interesting.”-  Pigeons & Planes

    The Video:

Rap’s most reliable purveyor of high-pitched hooks, singer 24hrs’ music sounds like the future. Holing up in his studio with money and models, 24 shares Family & Money,” his latest video. Anchored by a cinematic instrumental from Hit-Boy, who provides celebratory horn stabs, melancholy synths, and a rumbling low-end, “Family & Money” is a mission statement for 24, striking a nice lyrical balance between his love of luxury cars and clothes with his deep loyalty to his family. In the video, 24hrs glows up in yellow-tinted life, counting and throwing thousands of dollars in the air in the company of gorgeous models, as he roasts a blunt and coifs his afro. “Family & Money” is the opening track from Houses On The Hill, 24’s debut studio album, released in November.

Executive produced by super-producer Hit-Boy (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar) and Ty Dolla $ignHouses On The Hill is a glistening soundscape, alternating high definition riders’ anthems, ideal for top down cruising, with sensitive bedroom jams. Though 24hrs traces his roots to Atlanta, Houses On The Hill reflects 24’s new life on the West Coast, the perfect complement to the Pacific Ocean breeze and Cali kush. The new album boasts the hot single Lie Detector,” which features a guest turn from Lil Pump and has over 10.3 million plays on Spotify, as well as the Caribbean-inflected “Met Gala,” featuring PnB Rock, and the cavernous throwback No Signal,” featuring Roy Wood$. Featuring additional appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, 24’s younger brother MadeInTYO, YG, Smokepurpp, Dom Kennedy, Vic Mensa, and Jay 305Houses On The Hill is currently available for stream and purchase.

Formerly a rapper performing as Royce Rizzy, Robert Davis found a new sound when he accidentally sped up one of his more melodic tracks, revealing a high-pitched and hooky new voice. Adopting the new vocal approaching and shrouding his identity in mystery, 24hrs started to pick up momentum in 2016, earning praise from the likes of Pigeons & Planes and The FADER, and building a huge fanbase on SoundCloud. Since then, 24hrs developed a reputation for bright sonics, flashy lyrics, and endless hooks, winning a massive fan in Ty Dolla $ign and collaborating with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Rick RossYoung ThugWale, and Machine Gun Kelly, and growing his musical rapport with his brother MadeInTYO.

Vallejo Rhymer Benny Mobs With His Gang and His Burmese Python in “Not Gone Jaws” 🐍

Video: Benny – “Not Gone Jaws”

The Bay Area Rhymer Shares the Latest Video From His Versatile New Mixtape

    12.10.2018

    Critical Praise:

“What do you get when you combine Drake’s tendency to sing vulnerably and BandGang’s abundant gun bars? You might get something like Benny, the North Vallejo rapper that counts the Detroit group among his influences and is rapidly making a name for himself in the Bay Area.” – The FADER

    The Video:

Equally adept at melodic flights of fancy and mean East Bay-style street talk, Vallejo, CA’s Benny is the total package. Wilding out at a warehouse party with a pet snake around his neck, Benny kicks it with his crew in Not Gone Jaws,” his latest video. Dropping the auto-tune for a glistening, tough-talking mob track, Benny pulls no punches on the new single, confident in the ability to walk away from any case because of his gang’s steadfast loyalty: “Tell em throw out my case, I got no priors/At least that what they think.” Premiered by Dirty-Glove Bastard, who described the video as “like the 2018 Bay Area version of Michael Jackson’s legendary ‘Thriller,’ video, but without the choreography and with Glock 22s and a living, breathing python,” “Not Gone Jaws” is the latest video from DifferentBenny’s new project, following the emotional clip for “You Don’t Know.”

Telling his story with a winning combination of flash, melody, and pathos, Benny shares Differenthis third and most accomplished project of 2018. Radiating with personality, Different is an engaging and thoughtful listen–the anthems of materialistic excess enhanced by the detailed and heartfelt stories of his struggle to provide for his mom and siblings. Drawing influences from all over the hip-hop spectrum, citing Detroit rappers BandGang as a major influence, among others, Different is impressively eclectic, boasting hard-hitting mob slappers like “Breathe,” vulnerable and rhythmic auto-tuners like “Myself,” convincing R&B slow jams like “Out Of Time,” and flashy auto-tuners like “Talk To Me.”

Born and raised in Vallejo, CA, home to hip-hop innovators E-40 and Mac Dre, Benny endured a troubled childhood, facing evictions and unreliable utilities in his homes. After getting into too much trouble as a high school student, Benny’s mother kicked him out of his house, causing Benny to spend months living in his car. Determined to prove to his family that he could make something of himself, Benny started making music, dropping in on high school talent shows and gathering his friends to make energetic music videos, like the Biggie-sampling All A Dream,” which quickly racked up millions of views. Now, Benny is a staple of the Northern California rap scene, collaborating with regional heavy-hitters like OMB Peezy and Prezi and earning the support of local hip-hop tastemaker The Thizzler. Earlier this month, HYPEBEAST shared the swaggering and sexy Bang It.” With the release of Different, Benny looks to continue his upward trajectory, breaking out of his region and becoming a household name.

Lil Durk Shares a Cinematic and Painfully Real Video for “I Know” via a Complex Premiere

Video: Lil Durk – “I Know”

The Chicago Star Recounts a Litany of Street Stories in the Heartfelt Video for a Signed To The Streets 3 Standout

    12.7.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork

“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER

“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard

    The Video:

A master of melody and gritty lyricism, few rappers can relate the emotional toll of street life like Lil Durk. Sharing heartbreakingly specific stories about his neighborhood, Lil Durk shares “I Know,” his latest video. A cinematic clip directed by Rock Davis, the new video shows the ripple effects of one murder on the Chicago community, examining the lives of the family and friends of the victim and perpetrator. A gentle minor key rap ballad, “I Know” finds Durk contemplating his place in the world and feeling the pain of the people from his city: Nowadays crazy/They’ll make you feel bad if you ain’t got no job/Nowadays crazy/They don’t teach you ’bout school, they’ll teach you how to rob,” sings Durk on the hook. Premiered by Complex, “I Know” is a standout track from Signed To The Streets 3Durk’s latest album.

A continuation of a series that began with Durk’s 2013 breakout mixtape Signed to the Streets, released when he was 21-years-old, Signed To The Streets 3 is a coronation for Lil Durk, affirming his position as a major rap star and confirming his influence on a new generation of melodic street rappers. Drawing guests from across hip-hop’s generational and geographical spectrum, Durk welcomes them all into his world in STTS 3, providing stark perspectives of street life with a strong emotional center, enhanced by Durk’s superlative sense of melody. The new album gives a home to popular previously-released singles like the Complex-premiered “Play With Us,” featuring Kevin Gates, the Future-featuring “Spin The Block,” which has over 16.5 million views on YouTube, “Downfall,” with guest spots from Young Dolph and Lil Baby, the slow-burning hit “Home Body,” featuring Gunna and TK Kravitz, which has over 9 million plays on Spotify and is currently burning up rap radio, “Rockstar,” the album’s closing track which features an appearance from Lil Skies, and “Neighborhood Hero,” which soundtracks a series of videos in which Durk and other artists, including Meek MillTrae Tha Truth, and Nipsey Hussle, highlight their efforts towards improving their communities. Shortly after the album’s release, Durk treated fans to a remix of Don’t Talk To Me,” adding a verse from next-gen Chicago superstar Juice WRLD.

Signed to the Streets 3 closes out an epic 2018 for Lil Durk, marked by multiple mixtapes, a label change from Def Jam to Alamo, a move from Chicago to Atlanta, and, just this month, the birth of his youngest child with his fiancé India. In March, he released his first project since departing Def Jam, Just Cause Y’all Waited, an important transitional record for Durk. Praised by Pitchfork, who wrote “Lil Durk writes about Chicago the way Joan Didion once captured California,” Just Cause Y’all Waited features tracks such as the buzzing 1-773 Vulture,” a street remix to Logic’s hit single “1-800-273-8255” that reached the 9 million view mark on YouTube, and the Lil Baby-featuring lead single “How I Know,” which earned prominent placement on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist. Featuring additional appearances from PartyNextDoor, Ty Dolla $ignGunna, and TK Kravitz, and with production from 808 Mafia and others, Just Cause Y’all Waited EP is a formidable appetizer for Signed to the Streets 3. Lil Durk turned heads when he performed his hits in a prime time slot, and later joined Tee Grizzley onstage at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami (catch a few clips from this performance and from backstage in the “Remembrance” video) and recently showed off his label signees with Lil Durk Presents: Only The Family Involved Vol. 1Durk recently announced Only The Family Involved Vol. 2hitting stores on December 21st.

Mixtape: Rod Wave – Hunger Games 3

The St. Petersburg, FL-born Alamo/Interscope Signee Shares a Moving Collection of Soulful Trap Songs, Featuring Moneybagg Yo as the Only Guest Artist

    12.7.18

    Critical Praise:

If you’re not familiar with the sounds of Rod Wave, he’s certainly one of the most talented acts to come out of Florida in some time.” – The Modern Life Mag

    “One of Florida’s finest musicians”ELEVATOR

    The Mixtape:

Wielding one of the most distinct and expressive singing voices in Hip-Hop, Florida’s Rod Wave is a sharp writer with a supernatural sense of soul. Coming through with a brand new set of southern-fried rap songs, Rod Wave shares Hunger Games 3his latest mixtape. Described as “street gospel” by guest artist Moneybagg Yo, Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs. Bounding between octaves and effortlessly switching from percussive rhymes to soaring melodies, Rod triumphantly celebrates his rising star status on recent single Yessir!,” reflects on his friends’ struggles with drug addiction on “Numb,” and flexes his pen game in the extended metaphor “Heart 4 Sale.” Featuring production from the likes of Go Grizzly, Drum Dummie, and others, Hunger Games 3 arrives via Alamo/Interscope.

“I want people to know and feel my music from their core,” explains Rod Wave. “You’re going to relate emotionally to this project. It has happy songs, sad songs, street songs, songs about struggle, songs about relationships, songs about success, songs about critics, songs about winning, etc. No matter what you’re going through, there is a song of Rod Wave that will get you through it! It gets greater later! This project is all about God first and staying focused!”

Lil Durk Announces Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 Label Mixtape, Headlined by Chicago Newcomer King Von

  • Press Release

Lil Durk Announces Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 Label Mixtape, Headlined by Chicago Newcomer King Von

Lil Durk Announces Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 Mixtape, Featuring King Von, Booka600, OTF Ikey, Doodie Lo, and More, Releasing on December 21st

King Von Tells a “Crazy Story” in a Charismatic New Single from the Upcoming OTF Project

    12.6.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork

“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER

“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard

    The Announcement:

The holiday season is the ideal time of year for being with your family–kicking back and relaxing near an open fire. Lil Durk agrees. Taking refuge from the cold Chicago winter with his Only The Family crew-members, Lil Durk announces Only The Family Involved Vol. 2the label’s new compilation mixtape. The follow-up to this summer’s Only The Family Involved Vol. 1Vol 2 is a celebration and a coronation for new OTF signee King Von, one of the family’s promising new stars. Featuring numerous contributions from OTF standouts like Booka600, OTF IkeyDoodie Lo, and more, Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 releases on December 21st via EMPIRE.

“Everything I do is for my gang gang,” says Lil Durk.

To accompany of the announcement of the mixtape, OTF shares Crazy Story,” the latest single by King Von. Flashing soft-spoken charisma and a steely intensity, Von tells a captivating street story, recounting his perspective of a robbery gone wrong. In the single, Von expertly mimics a conversational patter, packing his story with intimate detail, but also building in digressions and brags: “I’m just laughin/Coulda been a pimp, the way I move my lip/I be speedin’/Coulda been a driver, the way I push the whip.”

Within six months, Von had a series of viral hits, including the sinister Problems,” which has over 1.2 million views after its debut on Durk’s YouTube channel, and the defiant “War Wit Us,” which has over 832k YouTube views in its first month of release.

The culmination of a five-year rise from underground sensation to mainstream star, Lil Durk pulled out all the stops for Signed To The Streets 3. Drawing guests from across hip-hop’s generational and geographical spectrum, Durk welcomes them all into his world in STTS 3, providing stark perspectives of street life with a strong emotional center, enhanced by Durk’s superlative sense of melody. Featuring guest spots from Future, Gunna, Kevin GatesTy Dolla $ign, Kodak Black, Lil Skies, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Signed to the Streets 3 released in November via Alamo/Interscope, and peaked at #3 on Apple Music’s all-genre album streaming charts over its debut weekend.

Stay tuned for Only The Family Involved Vol. 2, coming December 21st.

The ideal avatar for Internet Money‘s industry-conquering ambitions, Houston singer-songwriter Trevor Daniel‘s lovelorn vocals and sharp writing enhance and complement his rich instrumentals. Coming through with his first-ever music video, Trevor Daniel shares “Falling.” Featuring a textured instrumental from Internet Money founder Taz Taylor, along with co-producers Charlie Handsome and KC Supreme, “Falling” bursts with intimate detail, combining gently plucked acoustic guitars with swells of bass synth, as Trevor Daniel displays the breadth of his talents with infectious melodic runs and cockeyed harmonies. Premiered by HYPEBEAST, the new video for “Falling” is a hallucinatory epic, following Trevor on a neon-lit journey through planes of reality, as he’s accompanied by a woman who either loves him…or wants to kill him. Or both.

Quickly rising in popularity on streaming services such as Spotify, where it surpassed the 1 million plays mark last week, and inspiring user-generated content on Instagram and TikTok, “Falling” is the breakout hit from Trevor’s recent EP Homesick. Premiered by Complex and featured in HYPEBEAST, the song is quickly gaining viral status, earning tens of thousands of streams per day across platforms. A mature and infectious six-pack of yearning and emotionally open tracks, Trevor Daniel exhibits on the new EP the makings of a future star, stretching syllables to increase the emotional impact of his dramatic and romantic lyrics, and using his expert sense of rhythm to give his love songs a conversational quality. Throughout the tape, Trevor has an excellent co-pilot in Taz Taylor, who gifts Daniel with expansive and lush backing tracks, offering ear-catching counter-melodies with flecks of guitar or chiming bells, filling out the low-end with cavernous swaths of bass synths, and spurring forward momentum with his expert command of hi-hats and 808s.

Fresh off a fast-selling tour with Yung Pinch, Trevor Daniel is the first signee to Internet Money Records, the new partnership between rising producer Taz Taylor and Alamo Records. A game-changing company in digital music, Taz Taylor started Internet Money as a beat-making company and collective through which producers could make beats and sell them a-la-carte to artists. As Internet Money grew, Taz Taylor became a well-respected songwriter and producer, signing a publishing deal with APG, shaping the sound of countless rising stars, producing four tracks on Lil Skies’ chart-topping Life of a Dark Rose, crafting the instrumental for the late XXXTentacion’s platinum-selling “Fuck Love” featuring Trippie Redd, and reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Rich The Kid’s “Plug Walk.”.

    Trevor Daniel Background:

Trevor Daniel began as a bedroom musician that now has since reached more than 20 million people. Based in Houston, the singer’s music is a gestalt of his influences. He is a fan of that 808’s Kanye-Drake-Cudi wave, Y2K Techno, and his city’s Chopped & Screwed trademark. With the voice, the melodic production, and heartfelt songwriting, Trevor thrives. The first act signed to Taz Taylor’s Internet Money Records broadcasts his life in sound and verse.

    Taz Taylor/Internet Money Records:

A real boss moves in silence. For as loud as his influence resounds throughout hip-hop at large, multiplatinum producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Taz Taylor operates from behind-the-scenes. In that respect, he harks back to the genre’s game-changing production mavericks of the nineties and early 21st century. At the same time, he brings a fresh sense of melody to each tune often punctuated by live instrumentation. In 2018, his record label Internet Money signed a joint venture agreement with Alamo and Interscope. You may not recognize his face, but you’ll know his style…

Pulling up with the latest single from Hunger Games 3Rod Wave shares “Feel The Same Way,” a soulful slice of street gospel, premiered by Complex. Delivering his trademark blend of soaring melody and percussive rhyming atop a beat from Drum Dummie, who dresses the track with reverb-y guitar twangs and church organ, Rod pledges allegiance to his day ones, promising to remain loyal even when he reaches his highest levels of success. The Hunger Games 3 highlight features a powerful guest verse from Moneybagg Yo, who reflects deeply on his childhood in Memphis and the ways he’s changed since becoming successful. Explains Rod Wave: “I’d been playing 2 Heartless on repeat when I was on the road for shows the week before making ‘Feel The Same Way.’ After I recorded the track and heard it, I was like, ‘Man, Moneybagg would snap on this song.’ My management reached out and I FaceTime’d Moneybagg, and we clicked. Shout out Drum Dummie and D Major who produced the track too.”

Expanding from two to three days and moving from Bayfront Park to Miami Gardens, Rolling Loud‘s Miami festival was the most buzzworthy event in 2018’s rap scene, bringing out 180,000 fans to see headliners like J. Cole, Future, and Travis Scott. Rolling Loud continued their domestic expansion in 2018, selling out bashes in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. INTERNET MONEY

    official site | soundcloud | twitter | instagram | facebook | youtube

The brainchild of rising super-producer Taz Taylor, Internet Money is a beat-making force and a model for a 21st century music company. Taz Taylor started Internet Money as a beat-making company and collective through which producers could make beats and sell them a-la-carte to artists. As Internet Money grew, Taz Taylor became a well-respected songwriter and producer, signing a publishing deal with APG, shaping the sound of countless rising stars, producing four tracks on Lil Skies’ chart-topping Life of a Dark Rose, reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Rich The Kid’s “Plug Walk,” and producing “Blue Tint” on Drake’s massive Scorpion album. Early in 2018, Taz Taylor recruited production prodigy Nick Mira, who produced Billboard Hot 100 hits for Chicago sensation Juice WRLD, including “Lucid Dreams,” which peaked at #2 and racked up over 551 million streams on Spotify. Profiled in XXL and Pigeons & Planes, Taz Taylor inked a deal with Alamo/Interscope to create Internet Money Records, signing Trevor Daniel and Chelji to be the imprint’s first recording artists.

    ODIE

    soundcloud | twitter | instagram | spotify

Effortlessly blending genres and captivating with his resonant vocals, Canadian artist ODIE carefully crafts the sound of the future. Born and raised in Toronto to a family of Nigerian immigrants, ODIE springs from a diverse musical background. Equally inspired by three different artists, ODIE combines Fela Kuti’s rhythm and energy, with Coldplay’s atmospheric sounds and Kid CuDi’s palpable conviction. Combining ethereal melodies with subsonic bass and prominent, yet delicate beats, ODIE shared his debut album Analogue in April 2018, featuring quality singles such as the gorgeous pop song “Little Lies,” the smoothly syncopated “Night Terrific!,” the effortless-sounding lazy Sunday R&B jam “North Face” (3.1 million plays on Spotify), featured on OVO Sound Radio, and the Afro-bounce of “Faith.” Praised by Pigeons & PlanesDJBoothBillboardThe 405, and many others, ODIE has the rare ability to unify listeners in this fragmented age.

    YUNGEEN ACE

    twitter | instagram | soundcloud | facebook | youtube | spotify

Combining classic southern-fried beats with a new school melodicism and an appealingly drawly delivery, Jacksonville’s Yungeen Ace channels his troubles into well-crafted rap songs. Building up a profile with his crafty songwriting and expressive vocals, Yungeen Ace won the respect of many of his peers, ranging from superstar NBA YoungBoy to deep south veteran Mista Cain, and developed a massive fanbase with over 683k followers on Instagram. In June 2018, Yungeen Ace’s meteoric rise took a dark turn when he and three friends, including his brother, were attacked in a drive-by shooting. Though he attempted to shield his brother from the hail of bullets by using his own body, getting shot 8 times, Yungeen Ace was the only survivor of the shooting. Bringing the overwhelming emotion from that near-death experience into his music, Ace shared his debut mixtape Life of Betrayal in August via Cinematic Music Group. Premiered by BillboardLife of Betrayal hosts several buzzing singles including “Jungle,” a poignant banger with an appearance from JayDaYoungan, which garnered over 8.8 million views on YouTube, Fuck That,” (9.2 million views), “All In” (7 million views), and “Betrayed” (3.2 million views). With a growing cult and a new lease on life, Yungeen Ace is on track to be the next King of the South.

    TREVOR DANIEL

    twitter | facebook | instagram | youtube | soundcloud

A velvet-voiced Houston singer-songwriter with a supernatural sense of melody, Trevor Daniel is the crown jewel of Taz Taylor‘s Internet Money Records. Born in Houston, Trevor absorbed the music of Pimp C, DJ Screw, ’80s synth pop, and ’90s techno in equal measure when he was a teenager, eventually creating his own genre-fluid music in his bedroom. In 2016, Daniel started to find an audience with moody and infectious anthems, landing placements on influential YouTube channels, earning millions of plays on singles like “Fool” and “Mirror” and earning 2018’s Best New Artist title from New Houston Music. Collaborating closely with Taz Taylor and the rest of the Internet Money crew, Trevor released his debut EP Homesick in October, which includes “Falling,” a mournful and romantic new single that landed on Spotify’s Alternative R&B playlist (735k followers). With over 1 million Spotify streams on Homesick, Trevor Daniel is ready to hurdle headfirst into 2019 with his delicate brand of rhythmic R&B.

    FIJIMACINTOSH

    twitter | instagram | soundcloud | spotify

A prodigious young talent with a gift for spinning saccharine melodies, Canton, Ohio’s Fijimacintosh creates ear candy for rap’s new era. Starting his career in 2017 at the age of 16, Fiji emerged with a brightly colored aesthetic, combining the manic absurdity of anime with the slick darkness of gangster films. “I want to make the world colorful,” Fiji told Complex. “I’m on the vapor wave aesthetic; Tumblr mixed with animation. It’s like walking through a dream but the dream is an acid trip.” In March 2018, Fiji shared his debut mixtape Satellite Crash, which showcased Fiji’s preternatural songwriting ability above adventurous production from Go GrizzlyCassius Jay, Charlie Handsome, Deko, Pooh, and others. The talented teenager was the subject of a short profile in XXL’s The Break Presents series and showed off his unique stage presence in opening dates for the likes of Comethazine, Yung Bans, and Smooky Margielaa.

Video: Tru Life – “Yan Yah”

The Harlem Rapper Shares the Latest Video from Walking On Water, His First Full-Length Project in More Than a Decade

    11.30.2018

    Critical Praise for Tru Life:

“If you’re looking for the old Tru Life, keep searching. The New York City-bred rhymer has turned over a new leaf, leaving the drama in the past and having a renewed focus on his music. It’s safe to say that his outlook on life may have changed, but his talent hasn’t. Tru Life’s still spitting bars hard enough to give these new rappers a run for their money.” XXL

    The Video:

Taking full advantage of his talent after spending a good part of the past decade behind bars, NYC’s Tru Life impresses with effortless charisma and hard-hitting bars. Blowing his money fast and celebrating life, Tru Life struts his stuff in Yan Yah,” his latest video, premiered by XXL. Filtering his street sensibility through the lens of luxury, Tru counts and burns bands of hundreds in the company of scantily-clad models in the video before kicking back for a dice game with his homies. A classic slick-talking New York bap, “Yan Yah” is a highlight from Walking On Water, Tru Life’s new album.

Explains Tru Life, “I wanted to put on for NYC and let the city know we out here sounding how NYC supposed to.”

A testament to Tru Life’s work ethic, tenacity and confidence, Walking On Water finds the Mogul Tree CEO bringing a confrontational NYC attitude and percussive flow to modern instrumentals. Brimming with A-List star-power, Walking On Water proves the high esteem Tru Life commands in the world of hip-hop, even after years spent out of the limelight, and showcases the talent that earned the approval of Jay-Z. Released by Tru Life’s own Mogul Tree label, the new album features Baddie,” featuring Future, which has over one million streams on Spotify, and the Rick Ross-featuring single Bag For It,” which has more than 3.5 million YouTube views. The Background:

    Tru Life Background:

A prodigious talent well-known in NYC rap circles, Tru Life’s story is one of a promising career cut short. Briefly signed to Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records as a teenager, Tru Life built up buzz with mixtapes like Tru York–gritty and honest street stories delivered with clever rhymes and boundless charisma. Though he won a prodigious local following, his brash demeanor led to beef with other local rappers, such as Prodigy and Dipset’s Jim Jones. Word of his talent reached Jay-Z, who recruited Tru Life for an audition and eventually signed him to Roc-A-Fella. During his days with the Roc, Tru Life recorded a number of songs with Jay-Z, including one beef-squashing track with an appearance from Nas. Just as his stars were aligning Tru Life had a set back which landed him behind bars. Emerging from prison with ambition and a clear conscience, Tru Life quickly picked up where he left off, settling longtime feuds and sharing “Bag For It,” an infectious single with an appearance from Rick Ross, which racked up over 3.5 million views on YouTube. Now CEO of his own Mogul Tree label, Tru Life is ready to dominate the road to stardom with his upcoming project, Walk On Water.

    EMPIRE Background:

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels. Today, EMPIRE works with some of music’s hottest talent, ranging from superstars such as T.I. and Snoop Dogg, red-hot newcomers such as SOB X RBE and Mozzy, and established veterans like Jim Jones and Redman. While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and propelled singles by Fat Joe & Remy Ma (“All The Way Up,” 2x Platinum), Tyga (“Taste,” 3x Platinum), and Lil Duval (“Smile”)  to the top of the Billboard Hip-Hop Charts. In April 2018, EMPIRE signed a global distribution deal with Universal Music Group for select artist projects.

Vallejo’s Benny Stands Out From the Pack with ‘Different’ Mixtape

  • Press Release

Vallejo’s Benny Stands Out From the Pack with ‘Different’ Mixtape

    Mixtape: Benny – Different

The Bay Area’s Latest Rapid Riser Shows How He Went From Homeless to Heartthrob in a Melodic and Hard-Hitting New Tape

    11.30.2018

    Critical Praise for Benny:

“What do you get when you combine Drake’s tendency to sing vulnerably and BandGang’s abundant gun bars? You might get something like Benny, the North Vallejo rapper that counts the Detroit group among his influences and is rapidly making a name for himself in the Bay Area.” – The FADER

    The Mixtape:

Telling his story with a winning combination of flash, melody, and pathos, Vallejo’s Benny brings a new kind of Bay Area bounce. Closing out the year on a high note, Benny shares Differenthis third and most accomplished project of 2018. Radiating with personality, the HYPEBEAST-premiered Different is an engaging and thoughtful listen–the anthems of materialistic excess enhanced by the detailed and heartfelt stories of his struggle to provide for his mom and siblings. Drawing influences from all over the hip-hop spectrum, citing Detroit rappers BandGang as a major influence, among others, Different is impressively eclectic, boasting hard-hitting mob slappers like “Breathe,” vulnerable and rhythmic auto-tuners like “Myself,” convincing R&B slow jams like “Out Of Time,” and flashy auto-tuners like “Talk To Me.” The follow-up to June’s Dangerous tape and August’s Soul Snatcher with DJ Gutta Butta, Different arrives via EMPIRE.

Last week, Dirty-Glove Bastard premiered “You Don’t Know,” a poignant black-and-white video for a Different highlight, and earlier this month, HYPEBEAST shared the swaggering and sexy Bang It.” With the release of Different, Benny looks to continue his upward trajectory, breaking out of his region and becoming a household name.

    J. Stalin and Dj.Fresh Don’t Play Games…Unless It’s “Cops & Robbers”

    Video: J. Stalin & Dj.Fresh – “Cops & Robbers”

    11.27.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Vibrant and exploding with personality, J. Stalin is a knowing, mischievous wise-ass whose charisma hangs between unapologetic cockiness and the ability to cut through rap’s fantasy-addled drug fetishism and provide sobering reality.”Pitchfork

    “One of Oakland’s illest MCs”XXL

“As the owner of Livewire Records, West Oakland rapper J Stalin provides a place for the growth of incredibly creative, meat-and-potatoes Bay Area hip-hop. The label hosts gritty rubbery street music that navigates crack dealing devastation and grounded partying tracks with equal aplomb, with artists that range from Stalin himself to MCs like Shady Nate and Philthy Rich among others.” – SPIN

“This is what Stalin does: he takes things–sounds, human beings, grocery stores–and warps them into something extraterrestrial. It’s eerie, but you’re dancing anyway.”Passion of the Weiss

    The Video:

Bringing a lockstep flow and slick wordplay, J. Stalin is one of Oakland’s most beloved cult emcees. Dramatically illustrating how childhood games can turn tragically real, J. Stalin shares Cops & Robbers,” his latest video. Produced by Dj.Fresh, “Cops & Robbers” is a propulsive and unsettling slapper, complete with droning organ and untuned synth bass, as Stalin lays down the law of the streets–laws that conflict with the laws of the state. Premiered by HYPEBEAST, “Cops & Robbers” portrays Stalin as a child, playing cops & robbers with his white friend, eventually flashing forward to the future where Stalin is a criminal and his friend is a cop. The video ends with a confrontation, a gunshot, and a fade-to-black, leaving the outcome of the confrontation up to the viewer’s imagination. “Cops & Robbers” is the latest video from Miracle & Nightmare on 10th Street Part 2, a double-album by Stalin and Dj.Fresh, following the sinister, XXL-premiered Nightmare on 10th Street Returns” and the luxurious “Living Lavish.

With a well-worn and electric studio chemistry, Bay Area icons J. Stalin and Dj.Fresh have join forces for a long list hard-hitting collaborations. Reuniting for their 9th and 10th albums, Stalin and Dj.Fresh share Miracle & Nightmare on 10th Street Part 2. The sequel to Fresh and Stalin’s Miracle & Nightmare on 10th Street, which reached #28 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its release in 2013, Part 2 spans two 10-track discs, each organized on the the nightmare and miracle of life in Stalin’s neighborhood in Oaktown. Packed with detailed street stories, creative brags and threats, and memorable turns-of-phrase, Miracle & Nightmare on 10th Street Part 2 brims with electricity, as Dj.Fresh provides a bright electro-funk backdrop for the Miracle disc and an aggressive, bass-heavy mob soundscape for the Nightmare disc.  Featuring appearances from Beeda Weeda, Shady Nate, Juneonnabeat, Mitchy Slick, and other East Bay stalwarts, Miracle & Nightmare on 10th Street releases via Livewire/EMPIRE.

Video: Key Glock – “Since 6ix” (Prod. by Tay Keith & 2LeftHands)

The Memphis Street Savior Shares the First Video from Glockoma, His New Mixtape

    Critical Praise:

“Dolph’s most prominent PRE signee [Key Glock] shows why he’s next up out of Memphis with tons of fun punchlines, cutting insults and a versatile delivery style that is in its own way as forceful as his label boss” – Noisey

“Key Glock is Memphis’s best new lyricist.” – The FADER

“Key Glock raps with an authoritative wisdom well beyond his age” – The FADER

“[Key Glock] will inevitably be on your radar in the months to come… he has a way with words that stick and resonate with his steadily growing fanbase.” – Karen Civil

“… unparalleled lyrical style and fierce approach” – ELEVATOR

    The Video:

Praised by The FADER as “Memphis’s best new lyricist,” Key Glock earned legend status in his hometown before building a sizable national profile. Coming through in a camo-colored Benz, complete with red spider-web rims, Glock reveals that he’s been ballin’ his whole life in “Since 6ix,” his latest video. Fueled by Glock’s outrageous charisma, the new video finds Glock with his Benz in an empty alley, the camera zooming in to focus on his bright red Jordans and diamond-studded jewelry as he rhymes along to the titanic Tay Keith beat. The first video from Glock’s new mixtape Glockoma (Paper Route EMPIRE), “Since 6ix” follows the release of Glock’s previous single “Yea!!,” which already has over 748k plays on Spotify alone since its November 19th release.

Running roughshod over trunk-rattling instrumentals from Tay KeithBandplay, Buddah Bless, The Honorable C-Note, and others, Glock ratchets up his energy level on Glockoma, enthusiastically shouting blunt force punchlines about his extravagant wealth and street bonafides. Ranging from the laid-back cocktail lounge-inflections of “Gang Shit No Lame Shit,” to the minimalist, droning bass of “Walking Ticket,” Glockoma refines and expands Glock’s sonic palette, providing a canvas for Glock to paint on with quotable stunts like “My bankroll enormous, just like Norbit,” or “I need a house so big the den got a den,” (both lyrics from mixtape highlight “Talk My Shit”). The follow-up to February’s swaggering Glock Bond, which has over 40 million combined streams on Spotify, Glockoma helps the Paper Route EMPIRE rising star puts his stamp on the holiday season.

The Background:A recognized figure in Memphis, Key Glock grew up idolizing the music of Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne. Glock created the unofficial crew Whole Lotta Errthang with his two best friends in high school, capturing the spirit of a popular Memphis saying. “Everybody knew we had a whole bunch of things going on,” remarked Glock. “we rolled with that, but we were living too fast.” Tragically, one of the members of his crew was gunned down at the age of 16. “Me and Ken [the other surviving member] ain’t even 21 yet, but we’ve seen and done so much. But you know: God does everything for a reason.” As Glock turned to music and began to develop his craft, his cousin-by-marriage Young Dolph began to take off. After facing an aggravated robbery charge and 90-day sentence in 2015, Key Glock was approached by Dolph and his business manager Daddyo to join Paper Route Empire. With PRE’s support behind him, Glock’s first single “On My Soul” has garnered 320,000 plays on WorldStarHipHop’s Youtube channel, and 235,000 plays on Soundcloud. With the release of Glockoma, Key Glock continues to smash through the southern rap scene. Stay tuned for more heat from Key Glock.

Bay Area Riser Benny Shows Off His Wide Range of Skills in Black & White “You Don’t Know” Video, Premiered by Dirty Glove Bastard

Video: Benny – “You Don’t Know”

The Latest Buzzing Rapper From Vallejo, Benny Shares an Emotional Slapper via Dirty Glove Bastard

    11.26.2018

    Critical Praise for Benny:

“What do you get when you combine Drake’s tendency to sing vulnerably and BandGang’s abundant gun bars? You might get something like Benny, the North Vallejo rapper that counts the Detroit group among his influences and is rapidly making a name for himself in the Bay Area.” – The FADER

    The Video:

With an uncanny sense of melody and hard-hitting flows, Vallejo’s Benny can turn any Bay Area beat into a slapper. Reflecting on his come-up grind, Benny shares You Don’t Know,” his latest video. Switching effortlessly between rhythm and melody over a plaintive, piano-led instrumental, Benny dwells on his past and current hardships and expresses hope for the future: “Life’s hard and I struggle just to think straight/But I know that I’m a dog like a beef frank/Always up working early so I sleep late/I’m always out and on my grind so I can eat great.” In the video, Benny broods in black and white, kicks it with his bros in a laundromat, and dances in front of a blank background as pictures of his loved ones flash on-screen as he mentions them in their lyrics. Premiered by Dirty-Glove Bastard, “You Don’t Know” is the latest single from DifferentBenny’s upcoming project, following the HYPEBEAST-premiered player’s anthem Bang It.” The follow-up to June’s Dangerous tape and August’s Soul Snatcher with DJ Gutta ButtaDifferent arrives on November 30th via EMPIRE.

Now, Benny is a staple of the Northern California rap scene, collaborating with regional heavy-hitters like OMB Peezy andPrezi and earning the support of local hip-hop tastemaker The Thizzler. With the upcoming release of Different, Benny looks to continue his upward trajectory, breaking out of his region and becoming a household name.

🏆📀 For Your “Best of 2018” Lists: Audible Treats’ Best Singles of the Year 🎧 🏆

🙏🏼 For Your “Best of 2018 List” Consideration: Our Strongest Singles of the Year 📓

2018 was a year full of change for me both personally and professionally. Ironically, one of the highlights, which is seeing our society hold people and companies more accountable, has created “more work” for us as publicists but I see that as good change. More highlights include seeing the stigma of mental health decrease overall, especially in hip hop. Artists who would never think to open up to professionals back in the day for being of being viewed as soft or a snitch are telling me the benefits of seeing their therapists.

On a personal level, Gavin and I are very grateful for the new team members, Scott, Kierra, and Erin, who joined the AT family this year. Along with Dan, who’s been with us since 2016, the vibes in the office are so great and the work keeps us so engaged. It’s become a running joke for one of us to incredulously blurt aloud every single day, “How is it 4pm already?!” Time flies when you’re doing damage control.

Pathetic PR jokes aside, we are truly grateful for the support you give our artists this year and every year. Thank you for believing in them and for helping to make their dreams come true.

❤️, Michelle, Gavin, Scott, Kierra, Erin, Dan, and our hard-working intern from Northeastern, Julien.

💔 P.S. RIP to Mochi, our Pug/Jack Russell mix of 15 years, who always kept a warm spot on the couch for visitors.

    STREAM | BUY | ASSETS | PR

Blending the reverby and drawly sound of the South with the bounce of the Bay Area, Mobile native OMB Peezy builds bridges between hip-hop traditions. Waxing rhapsodic about his life as a rising star, Peezy delivers on the promise of his early singles with Loyalty Over Love, his debut full-length. Praised by Pitchfork as a “rich portrait of loneliness, suspicion, and weariness, showcasing his eye for observation and a knack for self-examination,” Loyalty Over Love is a well-rounded statement, with Peezy guiding us through his trials and tribulations with a drawly charm and weaving his threats and boasts around hot instrumentals. Whether he’s seething at inept law enforcement on the Noisey-premiered “Fuck My P.O.,” revealing his struggles on “All Kinds of Pain,” paying tribute to the West Coast with the Dr. Dre-referencing and Donny Hathaway-sampling “Ghetto Boy,” or letting loose on “Yeah Yeah,” Peezy fulfills the promise of his tremendous talent and leaves us wondering how he will wow us next.

    Sahbabii – Squidtastic
    STREAM | BUY | ASSETS | PR

Blending tough-talking lyrics with sugary and bright sonics, SahBabii creates an infectiously melodic brand of trap music. On his latest album Squidtastic, Sahbabii dives deep into his insular undersea haven, with his brother T3 as the only guest, as the Atlanta native uses the language of trap music to make something unique and beautiful. Raved Pitchfork in their Overlooked Albums list for Summer 2018, “In the world of SahBabii’s Squidtastic, the Atlanta rapper’s vivid imagery sounds like it belongs in a Miyazaki film, his weapon of choice is a ninja star, and all animals are to be cherished. It’s ridiculous and there is no place I would rather find myself lost in.” The project boasts highlights like the warm and spritely “Sunny Days,” the introspective and vulnerable “Tall,” complete with atonal acoustic guitar, and the Latin-inflected for-the-ladies jam “Army.” With Squidtastic, Sahbabii proves that he is much more than the man who made “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick,” asserting himself as a bright and positive force in the often-bleak world of trap music.

    ODIE – Analogue
    STREAM | BUY | ASSETS | PR

Concocting a goosebumps-inducing hybrid of hip-hop, Afrobeat, jazz, soul, and electronic, Canadian artist ODIE is a game-changing talent. Capturing his sound in an eclectic collection of ten tracks, ODIE’s debut project Analogueapproaches urban music from a new angle, emphasizing angelic harmonies and making masterful use of negative space. Alternating between his floating singing voice and his booming rhythmic delivery, Analogue is an inspiring beginning to the 22-year-old artist’s career, collecting expansive singles such as the gorgeous pop song “Little Lies,” the smoothly syncopated “Night Terrific!,”  the effortless-sounding lazy Sunday R&B jam “North Face” (3.1 million plays on Spotify), featured on OVO Sound Radio, and the Afro-bounce of “Faith,” into a cohesive and compelling whole. “Odie’s sonic lineage is traceable, but the end result is distinctly unique: Not many twenty-somethings can rival his range, which encompasses everything from stunts and flexes to heavenly melodies,” raved Pigeons & Planes.

Every artist dreams of having a meaningful exchange with their inspiration. Lil Wop was sought out by his. For years, the energetic spitter was drawn to Gucci Mane’s honesty, fearlessness, and nimble delivery. Less than a year ago, the prolific and veteran hit-maker reached out to the Atlanta-based rapper with the Wopavelli mixtape series. “He was like, ‘I want to sign you; I don’t care what it takes,’” the younger artist recalls. When Big Guwop checked out the “Lost My Mind” video on Worldstar, he was one of the millions who were captivated. Lil Wop possesses an attitude and confidence in his blunt verses. On that viral hit, he compared himself to his idol in the opening lines. With his trademark gruff delivery, Wop seemed to already be living out a rockstar’s lifestyle, while never abandoning his Trap roots. “I was at a loss for words with the whole situation,” he recalls. He soon signed with 1017 Eskimo/Alamo Records. Over a year later on Halloween 2018, Lil Wop released Wopavelli 4, his biggest and most focused project. On the heels of gripping video singles, “Pint Of Blood” and “Hugh Hefner,” the rapper who clawed his way into his position steers the course with an energetic and eerie 19-track tape.

Lil Wop Transforms Into Wopenstein in the Eerie “Extensions” Video

    Video: Lil Wop – “Extensions”

The 1017 Eskimo/Alamo Artist Shares the Latest Horror-Themed Clip From His Blown-Out Mixtape Wopavelli 4

    11.12.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Lil Wop has quickly become one of the most promising young rappers to recently emerge from Atlanta’s ever-evolving scene.” – HYPEBEAST

“The Midwest rapper, who also happens to be Famous Dex’s cousin, is brewing up to have a breakout year.” – XXL

“It goes without saying that once you hear Lil Wop once, you’ll start getting all of his songs stuck in your head.” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Video:

Paving his own lane with a bass-heavy and warped brand of trap, Lil Wop stands out in ATL’s new wave with his distorted beats and croaking vocals. Providing the ideal visual representation of his monster movie trap, Lil Wop shares Extensions,” his latest high-concept, horror-themed music video. Evoking such classic horror characters as Frankenstein and Michael Myers, Wop starts the video in suspended animation, floating in an aquatic chamber as scientists discuss his fate. As the music starts, Wop jolts to life, brandishing a firearm and unsettling his scientific observers. Produced by ChaseTheMoney, “Extensions” is a blown-out banger, with Wop croaking his way around aggressive stabs of synth bass. “Extensions” is the latest video from Wopavelli 4Wop’s latest opus, which blends elements of trap, horrorcore, and metal.

Packed with eerie, mind-expanding beats from ChaseTheMoneyBrodinskiDigital NasAyo, and others, Wopavelli 4 finds the young rapper stretching the limits of his voice, crafting clipped and distorted bangers, enhanced by his signature vocal fray. The tape features the previously released single Hugh Hefner,” a bite-sized banger with a hedonistic video, which received an XXL premiere for its video in late July, as well as “Ghoul,” which dropped shortly afterward and has over 200k YouTube views. With Lil Wop holding down the mixtape’s 19 tracks, including highlights such as the menacing “Don’t Step On My Saint-Laurents” and the satanic “Cult,” and featuring an appearance from Big AdolfWopavelli 4 hits digital distributors courtesy of 1017 Eskimo/Alamo.

Born and raised in Chicago, Louis MacPherson grew up idolizing local heroes like Chief Keef, Fredo Santana, and G Herbo, but he held a special place in his heart for Gucci Mane. Naming himself Lil Wop, a play on Gucci’s nickname Guwop, Lil Wop dedicated himself to his rap career when he moved to Atlanta, recording and shooting videos on a regular clip. Eventually, his video for “Lost My Mind” caught the ear of Gucci Mane himself, who signed Wop to his fledgling 1017 Eskimo label. Since the signing, Lil Wop has rapidly expanded his fanbase on the strength of his Wopavelli mixtape series, culminating with the pure evil Wopavelli 4.

The Rapidly Rising Street Star Teams With Tay Keith, His City’s Hottest Producer, for the “Yea!!” Single

    11.19.2018

    The Announcement:

Running up his monthly Spotify listener count to over 1 million fans, Key Glock specializes in visceral, no-bullshit street music. Returning for his third mixtape and his second tape of 2018, Glock announces the Glockomamixtape. Teaming up with a squadron of A-List producers, including Drake’s favorite new beatmaker Tay Keith, Glock adds to his collection of sharply-written bangers. Sticking close to Glock’s favorite topics–smoking Backwoods blunts, cooking dope, counting cash–the new mixtape is a product of Glock’s fierce charisma, as he reaches levels of flexing comparable to his Paper Route EMPIRE boss Young Dolph. The follow-up to February’s swaggering Glock Bond, which has over 39.7 million combined streams on Spotify, Glockoma arrives on Glock FridayNovember 23rd.

To build up a frenzy for his upcoming Thanksgiving offering, Key Glock unites with Tay Keith for Yea!!,” his latest single. Previously collaborating on some of Glock’s best known songs, including Russian Cream” (15.6 million streams on Spotify) and Orville Redenbacher” (1.4 million views on YouTube), “Yea!!” is another banger, as Key Glock dials up his energy level, shouting about his new whip, his massive collection of diamond rings, and his burgeoning mogul status: “Bitch I’m bout it, bout it/You can call me Master Key/Who? Me? Bitch, I’m Master Key/But I’m still a P/Youngin’ off the leash.”

    The Background:

A recognized figure in Memphis, Key Glock grew up idolizing the music of Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne. With the release of Glock Season, Key Glock continues to smash through the southern rap scene. Stay tuned for more heat from Key Glock.

While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and propelled singles by Fat Joe & Remy Ma (“All The Way Up,” 2x Platinum), Tyga(“Taste,” 3x Platinum), and Lil Duval (“Smile”) to the top of the Billboard Hip-Hop Charts. In April 2018, EMPIRE signed a global distribution deal with Universal Music Group for select artist projects.

    J. Stalin & Dj.Fresh Explore the Flip Sides of Hood Life in a New Double Album, New Video Premiered by XXL

    Album: J. Stalin & Dj.Fresh – Miracle & Nightmare On 10th Street Part 2

The West Oakland Rapper Paints a Lyrical Picture of His Life as a Father and CEO Over Dj.Fresh’s Smooth Samples in This Sequel to a 2013 Project; Shares “Nightmare on 10th Street Returns” Video

    11.16.2018

    The Album:

With a well-worn and electric studio chemistry, Bay Area icons J. Stalin and Dj.Fresh have collaborated for a long list hard-hitting albums. Prior to the album’s release, Stalin shared the sinister and violent Nightmare on 10th Street Returns,” which kicks off the Nightmare disc, and Living Lavish,” a luxurious, HYPEBEAST-premiered ode to the good life from the Miracle disc. The upcoming album boasts a quintessentially Bay Area guestlist, with appearances from Beeda Weeda, Shady Nate, Juneonnabeat, Mitchy Slick, and other East Bay stalwarts. The follow-up to Stalin’s Tears of Joy 2, released earlier in 2018,and following Dj.Fresh’s 2018 collaborations with Rydah J Klyde, Jay Worthy, and Zion IMiracle & Nightmare on 10th Street releases via Livewire/EMPIRE.

To accompany the release of the album, Stalin shares the video for “Nightmare on 10th Street Returns” via an XXL premiere. Filmed through a dark and grainy filter, the new video mimics the horror and uncertainty of life in the hood. Rocking a bowler hat and a red-and-black striped sweater, imitating the iconic look of Nightmare on Elm Street villain Freddie Krueger, as he prepares to bury a body in the California desert. Beginning with a glorious instrumental synth intro, showing off the musical chops of Dj.Fresh, “Nightmare On 10th Street Returns” is the ideal intro for the album, illustrating the rough life in West Oakland and Stalin’s struggles to make a better life for his wife and son.

24hrs Teams with Hit-Boy & Ty Dolla $ign For His Breezy Debut Album Houses On The Hill

Album: 24hrs – Houses On The Hill

The Artist Embraces the Sound and Lifestyle of the West Coast on His Studio Debut, Executive-Produced by Ty Dolla $ign & Hit-Boy, and Featuring YG, Lil Pump & More

    11.16.2018

    Critical Praise:

“Without any context, 24hrs’ music is like listening to an alien who recently landed on Earth, heard some songs by Young Thug, Jeremih, and Rae Sremmurd, and started making his own. It draws from the current sounds in hip-hop and R&B, but there’s something slightly off about it, and this is what makes it so interesting.”-  Pigeons & Planes

    The Album:

One of the most unique and promising rap-n-b stalwarts of the past couple years, 24hrs enjoyed a steady rise in popularity when he discovered his signature high-pitched auto-tuned sound. Perfecting and refining the luxurious aesthetic that earned him over 700k monthly listeners on Spotify, 24hrs shares Houses On The Hill, his debut album. The new album boasts the hot single Lie Detector,” which features a guest turn from Lil Pump and has over 10.3 million plays on Spotify, as well as the Caribbean-inflected “Met Gala,” featuring PnB Rock, and the cavernous throwback “No Signal,” featuring Roy Wood$.

    11.15.2018

    Critical Praise:

    XXL Freshman, Class of 2018

“[wifisfuneral] displays an impressive array of verbal acrobatics, showing off masterful breath control and a rapid fire flow.”  – Pitchfork

“He’s synthesized the regionless, borderless world of the internet age from which he takes his name, while lacing it with a narcotically addictive flow and a distinct ear for melody that’s allowed him to develop while others stagnate.” – NOISEY

“The young rapper has a wide range of skills, from agile raps and bass-heavy tracks to dark and moody slow-burners, and his unpredictability is part of his appeal” – Pigeons & Planes

“Wifisfuneral is becoming a hotter and hotter commodity in the rap world these days, and he’s making sure to prove his skillset as a lyricist in the game.” – XXL

    The Video:

With an appealingly dark aesthetic and a refined sense of lyricism, wifisfuneral is one of the most complete artists to emerge from the bustling South Florida rap scene. Inviting us for a glimpse into his turbulent mental state, wifisfuneral shares Been 2 Hell & Back,” his latest video. Holing up in his apartment with only a frightening looking, bridal gown-clad doll to keep him company, wifisfuneral wilds out in his new video, energetically bouncing to the music as his eyes glow with purple flame. “Been 2 Hell & Back” is a highlight from Ethernet Vol. 1wifi’s June mixtape, which has over 43 million streams on Spotify. Certain lyrics from “Been 2 Hell & Back” found their way into wifi’s XXL Freshman Freestyle, which reached #1 on YouTube’s trending chart over the summer.

Faced with fans clamoring for more music after he dropped Ethernet earlier this year, wifi shared the Leave Me The Fuck Alone EP last week. A dark and absorbing collection of four standout tracks, Leave Me The Fuck Alone finds wifi deep into his mental state and unflinchingly reporting what he sees. Wallowing in rich and aqueous sonic worlds created by producers like frequent collaborators Cris Dinero and HenryDaher, the new EP finds wifi mourning lost friends on “Alone as a Facetat,” indulging his pill habit and experimenting with auto-tune in the bouncy “Dangerous,” and flexing his lyrical muscles in “Pain”: “Listen, I was lost a lot/Trapped in hell with no parking spot/No pot to piss, they watched me rot/I was rottin’ in my grave, I thought/But it was back to reality, it kept me soft.” Prior to the EP, wifi shared Ever Seen a Demon,” a bleak and unsettling banger from the EP that amassed over 300K streams in its first week of release after being included on Apple Music’s Breaking Hip-Hop playlist. Featuring an appearance from beta.files and additional production TNO, Leave Me The Fuck Alone EP is available to stream on wifi’s SoundCloud and on all other DSPs.

An immersive experience equally suited for top-down rides as headphone sessions, Ethernet brings you deep inside the mind of wifisfuneral, as he struggles with his newfound fame, plunges into drug use, and revels in his prodigious talent. Boasting production from wifi’s longtime collaborator Cris Dinero, as well as speaker-knocking instrumentals from the likes of Jahlil BeatsRonny JSmash David, and others, Ethernet is wifi’s most diverse project yet, ranging from minor-key Rhodes burbles on Every Pill In The World,” featuring Uno The Activist, to New Orleans-bounce on the YBN Nahmir-featuring single Juveniles,” which has over 16 million streams on Spotify, to the immersive “LilSkiesFuneral,” which features breakout rapper Lil Skies and racked up over 8.8 million streams on Spotify and 5.41 million plays on SoundCloud. With additional appearances from Brooklyn riser Jay Critch and ATL mainstay Key!Ethernet comes to you via Alamo Records.

    The Background:

21-year-old South Florida rapper wifisfuneral has taken his dark sonics, mature-beyond-his-years lyrics, and trunk rattling bass from the streets of Palm Beach to the world, amassing over 1.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 700,000 followers on various social media platforms. wifisfuneral’s growth has been organic and cult-like, with his fans spreading his music like wildfire with each and every release. With virtually zero promotion other than his social media presence, wifisfuneral’s independent projects Black Heart Revenge (May 27th, 2016) and When Hell Falls (January 27, 2017) reached #69 and #17 on the iTunes hip-hop charts respectively, resulting in a label deal with Alamo and Interscope Records. His major label debut mixtape, Boy Who Cried Wolf, received critical acclaim, with two of the tracks earning placement in the Spotify’s coveted Most Necessary playlist. His latest mixtape, Ethernet, was released in June 2018 via Alamo Records. In 2018, wifisfuneral was officially named to the XXL Freshman List and reached #1 on YouTube’s trending chart. Most recently, wifisfuneral appeased his fans with Leave Me The Fuck Alone EP, a four-track effort with production from frequent collaborators HenryDaher and Cris Dinero.

Maxo Kream Explores His Troubled Past & Present in the High-Tech “Roaches” Video

    Video: Maxo Kream – “Roaches”

The Houston Storyteller Brings His Skeletons to Light in the Shomi Patwary-directed Video

    11.15.2018

    Critical Praise for Maxo Kream:

“Over the last couple years, Maxo Kream has established himself as one of Houston’s most exciting young rappers by way of being one of Houston’s least traditionally minded artists.” – Noisey

“A sinister and visceral portrait of Houston street life.” – Pitchfork

“(Punken) is 44 minutes of some of the best storytelling you’re liable to find this year, broken up into mesmerizing syllabic arrangements.” – The Ringer

    The Video:

Quickly developing a reputation as the South’s best storyteller, Houston’s Maxo Kream packs evocative details and visceral imagery into his metronomic rhymes. Taking a deep look into traumatic and mundane moments in his past and present, Maxo shares Roaches,” his latest video. The most personal and complete portrait yet of the young rapper, “Roaches” takes an innovative approach towards bringing Maxo’s distinct verses to life. For the first verse, director Shomi Patwary recreates Maxo’s childhood apartment, complete with a rotating cast of his friends and family members, filmed to give the impression of a single shot, with inventive effects highlighting his lyrics. In the second verse, about his family’s struggle through 2017’s destructive Hurricane Harvey, the video evokes Maxo’s scattered state-of-mind, as the screen fills with water and shows news reports from that tumultuous moment in his life. “Roaches” is the climactic moment from the critically lauded album Punken, released by Maxo in January.

Titled after one of Maxo Kream’s childhood nicknames, Punken takes a deep and revealing look into the rapper’s past, with Maxo mastering his storytelling ability and hypnotic flows atop forward-thinking production. Featuring appearances from Trippie Redd, 03 Greedo, and D. Flowers, and with production from The Wlderness, Beatboy, Sonny Digital, Ethereal, Honorable C Note, $uicideboy$, Tommy Kruise, Wolfe De Mchls, Teddy Walton, and MexikoDroPunken builds upon 2015’s Maxo 187 and 2016’s The Persona Tape with emotionally and sonically diverse tracks sitting side-by-side with insane drug-dealing bangers. In their glowing review of the album, Pitchfork praised the album as “full of unsparing storytelling, pusher anthems, and a dynamic array of trap production over which Maxo delivers some of his most effective writing.”

    Maxo Kream Background:

Upon meeting him, gangsta rapper isn’t the impression that most would get from buzzing Houston emcee, Maxo Kream, age 27. He has a surprisingly goofy and playful demeanor, often cracking self-aware jokes and displaying a smile which showcases either his gold grin or his trademark gap in the upper row of this teeth. But, make no mistake, Maxo’s backstory is a tale consisting of crime and death that would catch the attention of the most jaded followers of gangsta/trap rap.

Inspired by his college trip to SXSW and the fact that other street cliques throughout Houston such asFDAB (founded by late rapper T.O.Y, a childhood friend and Crip associate of Maxo) and MashMode(which has now resulted in the buzzing careers of Houston rap duo, The Sauce Twinz) were transitioning into music as a form of expression, Maxo and his younger cousin Lyndon (rap moniker Lyndo C), jumped into music. Maxo’s latest album, Punken, takes a deep and revealing look into the rapper’s past, with Maxo mastering his storytelling ability and hypnotic flows atop forward-thinking production.
