The Book:

The ultimate love letter to the world’s most magical plant: Weed. Bestselling author, rapper, chef, and television star Action Bronson is a marijuana superhero, and Stoned Beyond Belief (Abrams Image; March 19, 2019; U.S. $27.50; Hardcover), is his masterpiece.

This is an exploration of every corner of the pot galaxy, from highly scientific botanical analyses and the study of pot’s medicinal benefits to a guide to the wild world of weed paraphernalia. It’s also a very personal tribute to a substance Bronson refers to as life-changing, horizon-expanding, a conduit for happiness, a connector. Weed is to Action Bronson what the madeleine was to Proust: the door to true consciousness.

Organized loosely into 100 entries, including 35 recipes, and packed with illustrations and photos, Stoned Beyond Belief is a trippy and munchie-filled experience, as well as an entertainingly valuable resource for weed enthusiasts and scholars. Written with assistance from Rachel WhartonStoned Beyond Belief will delight Action Bronson fans and pot aficionados all across the universe.

A multi-talented figure with expertise in all creative arts, Action Bronson is an enthusiastic and tireless worker. In November 2018, Bronson released White Bronco, his latest studio album and his first project as an independent artist since 2012. The follow-up to 2017’s Blue Chips 7000, White Bronco features production from Bronson’s longtime collaborator Party Supplies, as well as contributions from Knxwledge, Harry Fraud, Daringer, Samiyam and Bronson’s live band The Special Victims’ Unit. The Background:

About Action Bronson:
A burgeoning media mogul and a celebrated figure in the culture, Action Bronson never stops working. Born Ariyan Arslani, Bronson started his career as a gourmet chef, rapping only as a hobby, until he garnered overwhelmingly positive critical attention with his first mixtape Dr. Lecter, released in 2011.Packing his rhymes with references to fine food, culinary practices, professional wrestling, obscure sports figures, and more, Dr. Lecter and its popular follow-up Blue Chips quickly built Bronson’s reputation as a lyricist. Singing to Atlantic Records through a partnership with VICE, Bronson charted at #7 on Billboard with his major label debut Mr. Wonderful in 2015, which featured the Gold-certified single “Baby Blue,” featuring Chance The Rapper. Since the release of that album, Bronson expanded into filmed media, starting a web-based mini-series for Vice entitled “Action in the Kitchen,” which played off the artist’s love of food and music. The success of “Action in the Kitchen”led to “F*ck, That’s Delicious,”a full-fledged TV series and a flagship show on Viceland, where Bronson travels the world, meeting chefs and cooks and tasting everything from haute cuisine to street vendor favorites. Bronson also released a cookbook of the same name, which spent several weeks on the New York Times Best-Seller list. Bronson expanded his television empire into the realm of the metaphysical with Viceland’s 2017 series “Traveling the Stars: Ancient Aliens with Action Bronson,” and he currently hosts “THE UNTITLED ACTION BRONSON SHOW, a free-form talk show on Viceland. Bronson ended his relationship with Vice in 2018 and independently released his album White Bronco on November 1st. Bronson’s second book Stoned Beyond Belief hits stores on March 19th via Abrams Publishing.

In November 2018, Bronson released White Bronco, his latest studio album and his first project as an independent artist since 2012. Featuring appearances from A$AP RockyMeyhem LaurenYung Mehico, and Big Body Bes, and production from Party SuppliesHarry FraudDaringerSamiyam, and and Bronson’s live band, The Special Victims’ Unit, White Bronco is available now on all DSPs via EMPIRE.

King Von Shares the FADER-Premiered “Cousins” ft. JusBlow 600

Single: King Von – “Cousins” ft. JusBlow 600

The OTF Signee Follows Up His Massive Hit “Crazy Story” With a Vengeful New Anthem

    3.15.2019

    The Song:

Rhyming with an unmatchable intensity and conversational detail, King Von is one of Chicago’s most promising newcomers. Plotting revenge on a man who did him wrong, King Von shares Cousins,” his new single, premiered by The FADER. Teaming up with fellow Chi-town native JusBlow 600, Von flashes his renowned storytelling ability, listing a methodical plan to murk his enemy’s entire family: “See I be thirsty, I be lurkin, I’m a savage wit it/There’s levels to this drillin’ shit, and I’m not average wit it/I put my eyes on a n****, then I’m bound to get him/I catch yo ass up in that ocean, then you drownin wit em.” Signed to Lil Durk‘s Only The Family label, King Von demonstrates his unrivaled energy on the new single, his latest since his breakout Crazy Story,” which has over 19 million views on YouTube.

King Von was born in the South Side of Chicago, growing up in O Block, the area that produced Chief Keef. Blinded by the poverty and violence of his neighborhood, Von turned to a life of crime at an early age, stealing bikes in middle school, and running with gangs in high school. At age 16, Von went to jail for the first time, commencing a near-decade where Von did not spend more than a full year out of prison. After rightfully beating an erroneous murder charge that could have put him away for life, King Von took inspiration from heroes like Lil Wayne and turned to rapping, linking up with Lil Durk who put him on. Within six months, Von had a series of viral hits, including the sinister Problems,” which has over 2.3 million views after its debut on Lil Durk’s YouTube channel, and the defiant “War Wit Us,” which has over 2.5 million YouTube views.

  • Press Release

Rod Wave Is a Walking Contradiction in the “Popular Loner” Video

Video: Rod Wave – “Popular Loner”

The Florida Rapper Shares Some Recent Career Highlights in a Montage-Style Music Video for a Gorgeous Loose Single

    3.15.2019

    Critical Praise:

If you’re not familiar with the sounds of Rod Wave, he’s certainly one of the most talented acts to come out of Florida in some time.” – The Modern Life Mag

    “One of Florida’s finest musicians”ELEVATOR

    The Video:

Battling his demons through his soulful and melodic music, Rod Wave is remarkably down-to-earth for a rising rap star. Sharing some images from his wild lifestyle, Rod shares Popular Loner.” Exploring his contradictory persona above plaintive piano chords and soaring guitar, Rod reveals his inner conflict in the new single, wielding his introversion as a weapon: “I don’t get along with my peers/I’m at war with myself/So fuck you and everybody else.” The video finds Rod in a montage of recent life and career highlights, from a trip to Times Square, to press interviews, to relaxing in the canals of St. Petersburg. Even though great things are happening for him, Rod Wave is still the same Rod he’s always been.

With music that Moneybagg Yo described as “street gospel,” Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs. Bounding between octaves and effortlessly switching from percussive rhymes to soaring melodies, Rod triumphantly celebrates his rising star status on Yessir!,” reflects on his friends’ struggles with drug addiction on Numb,” and flexes his pen game in the extended metaphor “Heart 4 Sale.” Featuring production from the likes of Go Grizzly and Drum Dummie, and boasting the Moneybagg Yo-featuring “Feel The Same Way,” which has over 1.2 million views on YouTube, Hunger Games 3 is a generous showcase of Rod’s supernatural sense of soul.

Most recently, Rod shared “Hard Times,” his first new single of 2019, which has over 495k views on its YouTube audio, and exposed the inner workings of the juvenile correctional system in the dramatic Red Light” video (200k views).

  • The Announcement:

Delivering his plainspoken and relatable lyrics with an aching grace, Trevor Daniel‘s music reflects the uncertain emotion and tantalizing closeness of 21st century romantic relationships. Preparing his texturally rich sophomore effort, Trevor Daniel announces Restless, his upcoming EP. Aided by the production wizardry of Taz Taylor and his Internet Money crew, including producer Nick Mira (Juice WRLD’s top ten hit “Lucid Dreams”), Restless finds the Houston singer-songwriter exploring every facet of his relationships, from the inseparable start to the heart-wrenching finish. Taz Taylor and the rest of the Internet Money producers raise their game for Restless, detailing each speaker-knocking instrumental with pristine clarity and switching up the sound with whimsical musical flourishes. The follow-up to Trevor’s 2018 EP Homesick, which boasted the mournful breakout hit “Falling” (over 10 million total streams), Restless EP arrives on March 22nd via Internet Money/Alamo.

To accompany the announcement of the EP, Trevor shares “Paranoid,” the project’s lead single. Produced by Taz Taylor, TouchOfTrent, JRHITMAKER, JoL’z, and Wallis Lane, “Paranoid” kicks off with a vaguely-Latin guitar pattern in 6/8 time, before settling into a slow trap-style groove, complete with echoing guitars, snapping hi-hats, and otherworldly vocal samples. Trevor’s voice floats above the fray, weaving infectious melodies as he devolves into anxiety, obsessing over his significant other’s possible infidelity. Premiered by FLAUNT, “Paranoid” is another formidable entry into Trevor’s array of lovelorn ballads.

Fresh off a fast-selling tour with Yung Pinch, Trevor Daniel is the first signee to Internet Money Records, the new partnership between rising producer Taz Taylor and Alamo Records. A game-changing company in digital music, Taz Taylor started Internet Money as a beat-making company and collective through which producers could make beats and sell them a-la-carte to artists. As Internet Money grew, Taz Taylor became a well-respected songwriter and producer, signing a publishing deal with APG, shaping the sound of countless rising stars, producing four tracks on Lil Skies’ chart-topping Life of a Dark Rose, crafting the instrumental for the late XXXTentacion’s platinum-selling “Fuck Love” featuring  Trippie Redd, and reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Rich The Kid’s “Plug Walk.” Taz Taylor recently earned a GRAMMY®-nomination for his work on Drake’s top-selling Scorpion album.

    Trevor Daniel Background:

Trevor Daniel began as a bedroom musician that now has since reached more than 20 million people. Based in Houston, the singer’s music is a gestalt of his influences. He is a fan of that 808’s Kanye-Drake-Cudi wave, Y2K Techno, and his city’s Chopped & Screwed trademark. With the voice, the melodic production, and heartfelt songwriting, Trevor thrives. The first act signed to Taz Taylor’s Internet Money Records broadcasts his life in sound and verse.

    Taz Taylor/Internet Money Records:

A real boss moves in silence. For as loud as his influence resounds throughout hip-hop at large, multiplatinum producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Taz Taylor operates from behind-the-scenes. In that respect, he harks back to the genre’s game-changing production mavericks of the nineties and early 21st century. At the same time, he brings a fresh sense of melody to each tune often punctuated by live instrumentation. In 2018, his record label Internet Money signed a joint venture agreement with Alamo and Interscope. You may not recognize his face, but you’ll know his style…

E-40 Shares the “Melt” 💧 Video, Announces Practice Makes Paper Project

E-40 Announces Practice Makes Paper, His Next Album and the Latest Installment in the “Definitions Trilogy”

The Prolific Rap Legend Shows Us Why They Call Him Forty Water in the Flossy “Melt” Video

    3.14.2019

    Critical Praise:

    “E-40 is a national treasure” – Stereogum

“Whoever you are, and whatever your low-grade malaise, E-40 is here to banish it. The Bay Area rap forefather is a human exclamation point, a superhero whose power is remaining helplessly in love with his work. E-40 works harder and more joyfully at making great rap music than you or I have ever worked on anything”Pitchfork

“The Bay Area’s ambassador E-40 is one of those rare veterans in hip-hop that gets better with time.”Complex

    The Announcement:

Renowned for his spectacular vernacular, few wordsmiths in the rap game can stand up to E-40. Announcing the second installment in his Definitions Trilogy, E-40 prepares to launch Practice Makes Paperhis upcoming project. With a massive vocabulary and a knack for finding hidden meanings, E-40 earned a reputation as one of the best lyricists in hip-hop, twisting phrases that embed themselves in listener’s heads and in the culture at large: Captain Save-a-Hoe, Broccoli (weed), Fetti (money), and more. In the upcoming project, 40 flashes superior slang, having his way with rap lingo and coining some more indelible phrases of his own. The follow-up to 2018’s The Gift of Gabwhich featured appearances from Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign, and more, Practice Makes Paper arrives this spring via Sick Wid It Records.

Reaching levels of drip heretofore unseen by mankind, E-40 shares Melt,” his latest video. Showcasing his signature elastic delivery atop a rubbery mob bassline, 40 and guest star Milla coin a new phrase for 40’s supernatural level of flexing: “I don’t drip, I melt.” Rocking all white and drawing attention to his jewels, E-40 leads an underwater dance party in the new video, which features cameos from Bay Area figures like P-Lo, Nef The Pharaoh, and ShooterGang Kony, all while he indulges in the creative lyricism that made him famous: “Water, water, the Waterboy Bobby Boucher/Drippy neck, spent about $200k.”

In addition to his legend status in the rap game, E-40 is a mogul in the world of adult beverages. His premium tequila, E Cuarenta, can be found at retailers across the West Coast, including Safeway, BevMo!, Total Wine & More, Save Mart, Albertson’s, FoodMaxx, Raley’s, Lucky Supermarkets, Costco, and more.

    The Background:

One of the most celebrated rappers of all time, E-40 has attained legendary status in hip-hop. Since making his debut with The Click almost 30 years ago and becoming one of the first West Coast rap artists to sign to a major label, his name has become synonymous with the independent music movement. E-40 has released 24 solo albums, become a platinum recording artist and collaborated with artists including Tupac, UGK, and Snoop Dogg. At age 48, E-40 is an anomaly in hip-hop, maintaining his relevance over a career that spans three decades. In the past few years alone, he’s been featured on several Billboard charts (“Choices,” Big Sean’s “IDFWU”, Ty Dolla $ign’s “Saved”), he’s earned an RIAA-certified Platinum plaque (“Choices”) and starred and had his 2006 smash hit “Tell Me When to Go” featured in a Beats By Dre commercial. Says E-40, “What’s happening at this point in my career defies logic. Name another 48-year-old rapper with one Gold record, let alone three in the same year. My fans stretch much further than the Bay Area, further than just the West Coast. I brought so much shit to hip-hop. I’ve been relevant in each generation and each decade and I’ve done it as an independent artist.”

E-40’s success extends beyond the music industry, most notably through his entrepreneurship in the adult beverages industry. His wine business, Earl Stevens Selections, distributes high-quality wine to stores across the country, including BevMoSafeway, and local liquor stores. He has made inroads into the pre-mixed cocktail business with Sluricane, a signature bottled-mix named after his 1995 hit “Hurricane,” with The Click, which was the top-selling beverage at BevMo when it was first released. Most recently, E-40 announced E. Cuarenta, his new signature line of premium tequilas. Look out for The Gift of Gab, his 28th studio album, hitting stores on August 24th.

Lil Durk Ain’t Trying to Be Your Friend or Your Man or Your Husband in His Latest Video

  • Press Release

Lil Durk Ain’t Trying to Be Your Friend or Your Man or Your Husband in His Latest Video

Video: Lil Durk – “No Label”

The Alamo Records Signee Dramatizes A Friend’s Relationship Issues in this Rock Davis-Directed Video

    3.11.2019

    Critical Praise for Lil Durk:

“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork

“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER

“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard

    The Video:

Specializing in soaring melodies and grounded street stories, Lil Durk pioneered the sound of new Chicago. Taking a break from his own domestic bliss to comment on a friend’s relationship woes, Lil Durk shares No Label,” his latest video. Released in late-January, “No Label” is a minor-key hookfest, packed with withering insults aimed towards a woman who wants more than Durk’s friend can give: “You Instagram famous, but you not a star.” The video, directed by Rock Davis, investigates a crumbling relationship, as the central couple squabbles in a Hollywood mansion. With some help from his OTF brethren King Von, OTF Ikey, and Booka600, Lil Durk acts as the devil on his friend’s shoulder, prying him away from his temporary relationship with the promise of more models. With over 2.5 million plays on Spotify and over 5 million YouTube views on its official audio, “No Label” expands upon the sonic palette Durk developed for Signed To The Streets 3, his November 2018 album, and starts to lay the groundwork for Love Songs to the Streets 2, a new mixtape coming this Spring.

Lil Durk had an epic 2018, marked by multiple mixtapes, a label change from Def Jam to Alamo, a move from Chicago to Atlanta, and, in November, the birth of his youngest child with his fiancé, India. The culmination of a five-year rise from underground sensation to mainstream star, Lil Durk pulled out all the stops for Signed to the Streets 3. Drawing guests from across hip-hop’s generational and geographical spectrum, Durk welcomes them all into his world in STTS 3, providing stark perspectives of street life with a strong emotional center, enhanced by Durk’s superlative sense of melody. Earlier this month, Lil Durk shined a spotlight on Habit,” an introspective highlight from the album, delivering a flashy video that earned over 4.5 million YouTube views. Featuring guest spots from Future, Gunna, Kevin GatesTy Dolla $ign, Kodak Black, Lil Skies, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Signed to the Streets 3 released via Alamo/Interscope, and peaked at #3 on Apple Music’s all-genre album streaming charts over its first weekend of release and debuted at #17 on the Billboard Albums chart.

Hoodrich Pablo Juan and Smooky Margielaa Are Too Rich to Fall In Love in Their FADER-Premiered Collab

Single: Hoodrich Pablo Juan – “Can’t Fall In Luv” ft. Smooky Margielaa

The 1017 Eskimo Signee Teams Up With One of Rap’s Most Promising Prodigies for His Latest BLO Single, Premiered by The FADER

    3.8.2019

    Critical Praise:

Nine out of ten rap fans seem to agree: Hoodrich Pablo Juan is up next.”Complex

HoodRich Pablo Juan should be Atlanta’s next up.” – Stereogum

“A smooth-talking rapper with a nonchalant charm.” Pitchfork

    The Song:

Hoodrich Pablo Juan is a creature of habit, and his habits are expensive. Refusing to change his ways for any person, no matter how fine, Pablo shares “Can’t Fall In Luv,” his new single. Adapting his authoritative whisper into a nursery rhyme patter atop tinkering xylophones, Pablo trades bars with 16-year-old rhymer Smooky Margielaa on the track, evolving his approach and holding his own with the melodic prodigy. Premiered by The FADER, the new single finds the unlikely duo decrying haters, counting their cash, and proclaiming themselves too rich to fall in love.

“Can’t Fall In Luv” is the latest single off BLO, the 1017 Eskimo standout’s upcoming album, following the Highsnobiety-premiered “Shoebox,” featuring Gucci Mane and NAV, the Complex-premiered, Screaming Slatt,” featuring Young Thug, the sinister Fireworks” (2 million YouTube views) and Dolce Gabbana,” his collaboration with 1017 Eskimo labelmates Yung Mal & Lil QuillBLO arrives this Spring via 1017 Eskimo/Alamo.

2018 was a busy year for Hoodrich Pablo Juan, marked by three projects, dozens of high profile collaborations, and millions of streams. Last January, Pablo released Rich Hood, which featured appearances from Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, Gunna, Key Glock and others. He quickly followed Rich Hood up with The Matrix, released in February, an EP-length collaboration with popular French electronic DJ Brodinski. A quick dose of aggro-trap brilliance, Stereogum praised the EP, calling it “a fascinating combination, with Hoodrich Pablo Juan’s liquid flow wending its way intuitively through Brodinski’s gleaming synths.” Pablo culminated his year with the release of Hoodwolf 2, an absorbing collection of head-nodding trap and a full-length collaboration between Hoodrich Pablo Juan and Danny Wolf (Ugly God, Lil Pump), home to the underground hit Tik Tok,” featuring a boisterous appearance from BlocBoy JB.

With the upcoming BLO and much more yet to come, Pablo looks to make 2019 his biggest year yet.

Darnell Williams Shares “Turbo,” A Sinister Strip Club Anthem

  • Press Release

Darnell Williams Shares “Turbo,” A Sinister Strip Club Anthem

Single: Darnell Williams – “Turbo” ft. Reese LAFLARE

The Detroit Native’s Latest Track Is the Reason Why You Bought a Subwoofer

    3.8.2019

    Critical praise for Darnell Williams:

“For some newcomers, it’s hard to ever break out. For Darnell Williams, a rapper and director from Los Angeles, breaking out will not be hard, but inevitable.”Hillydilly

“Combining his ability to direct and edit with powerful lyrics and a commanding delivery, Williams gives us an honest look at what he’s been going through the past few years.”Pigeons & Planes

“Darnell Williams is ready for the spotlight.”XXL

    The Song:

Skillfully pairing tight rhymes with a keen visual aesthetic, Darnell Williams serves up an evil slice of bass-heavy trap with Turbo,” his latest track. Dominated by booming, subterranean bass, “Turbo” is a banger built for overdriven club speakers. Skating above skittering hi-hats, Darnell and Reese LAFLAREboast about their formidable bankrolls and their prowess with the opposite sex: “100, 200, fuck it throw a thou/Everybody gettin’ paid, broke n****s gettin’ out/When I walk up to the stage, bitch’s booty crack a smile/If you didn’t know the name, bet that ass know me now.” Released along with a slick lyric video, “Turbo” follows the bombastic and sardonic “Fuck Hollywood,” Darnell’s latest self-directed music video, which Complex premiered in late January.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Darnell Williams started his career as an acclaimed music video director. As an early member of video collective illRoots, Darnell directed and produced videos for the likes of Big Sean and Mac Miller. In 2013, Darnell left illRoots to pursue his dreams of being an artist, which often left him homeless, sleeping on couches in South Central L.A. in pursuit of it. After a few short years, Darnell’s music has earned the praise from the likes of XXL and Pigeons and Planes, garnered co-signs from Travis Scott and Chance The Rapper, and scored a placement in the credits of an episode of HBO’s Silicon Valley for his electro-rap banger “Blown.” In 2018, Darnell made waves with the ELEVATOR-premiered video for Porno,” featuring an appearance from Elohim, which showcased Darnell’s mastery of visuals and sharp sense of humor. Now signed to 12 Tone Music, Darnell Williams prepares to take over the world this year. Stay tuned.

Ann Marie & Yung Bleu are a ’19 Bonnie & Clyde in “Ride For Me”

  • Press Release

Ann Marie & Yung Bleu are a ’19 Bonnie & Clyde in “Ride For Me”

Video: Ann Marie – “Ride For Me” ft. Yung Bleu

The Rapidly Rising R&B Star Finds Her Match in the New Video from the Tripolar 2 Project

    3.7.2019

    Critical Praise for Ann Marie:

“Ann Marie’s silky vocals are inspired by a past era of R&B, she isn’t a throwback though; her blend of hip-hop cadences and traditional R&B melodies isn’t contrived for the purpose of inspiring nostalgia.”Pitchfork

    The Video:

Rapidly growing a fanbase with her conversational brand of sensual R&B, Ann Marie is Chicago’s new R&B queen. Sending out a signal for a faithful man to call her own, Ann Marie values loyalty above all else on Ride For Me,” her new video. A shimmering midtempo standout with a tinge of the Caribbean in the drum pattern, “Ride For Me” features an appearance from Yung Bleu, who leans into the tropical theme with a patois-accented, highly melodic verse. In the video, Ann Marie and Yung Bleu play a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde, supplementing the thrill of their relationship with the thrill of living beyond the limits of the law. When their actions finally catch up with them, Bleu proves to be loyal, taking the fall for Ann Marie and providing her a path for a new life. “Ride For Me” is the latest video from Tripolar 2, following videos for the 147 Calboy collaboration “Around,” (1.2 million YouTube views) and the smoldering “Pull Up” (1.44 million views). Featuring the buzzing single Secret,” which features YK Osiris and racked up over 17.7 million YouTube views and 2.5 million Spotify streams since its early-January release, Tripolar 2 is currently available for stream and purchase.

The follow-up to 2018’s Tripolar, which featured Ann Marie’s hit “Handle It” (over 10 million Apple Music streams), Tripolar 2 is a versatile set of nine sharply crafted R&B cuts, brimming with personality. Propelled by “Secret,” which reached the Top 100 of Apple Music’s singles chart, Tripolar 2 grew into a massive success, reaching #3 on Apple Music’s R&B albums chart and peaking at #38 on the service’s all-genre albums chart. Since the beginning of 2019, Ann Marie’s Instagram following exploded from 300,000 to over 546,000, growing at a rate of thousands per day. With over 100,000 streams per day on Apple Music and inclusion on Spotify’s “Singled Out” playlist, highlighting breakout singles, “Secret” is Ann Marie’s first leap on the road to R&B superstardom.

  • Press Release

Hare Squead Romance Loved Ones in the Inventive, Appealingly Lo-Fi “100 Miles” Video, Premiered by HYPEBEAST

Video: Hare Squead – “100 Miles”

The Acclaimed Dublin Group Use a Black-and-White Palette to Express Their Longing in the HYPEBEAST-Premiered Video

    3.6.2019

    Critical Praise:

“Hare Squead are pioneers of a creative boom taking place in Dublin… They have Ed Sheeran’s business savvy, compositional expertise , plus chiselled jaws and puppyish enthusiasm.”The Guardian

“Blending hip-hop, soul and pop in a way that feels both soothing and full of energy, the results carry some heavy Chance the Rapper and De La Soul vibes with a distinctly Irish twist.”Noisey

“With a name as unique as Hare Squead, their sound is just as special.”XXL

“There’s no denying the group’s ascension; in Dublin, Ireland—a city only now becoming known for its hip-hop—Hare Squead is becoming one of its most recognizable acts.”Pitchfork

    The Video:

Known for their effervescent and deeply musical strain of hip-hop, Hare Squead effortlessly separate themselves from the pack. Translating their desperate longing into a breezy acoustic bounce, the Irish duo recently returned from an 18-month absence with the audio single 100 Miles. Today they bring the love song to life with some inventive cinematography and a HYPEBEAST premiere. The video for “100 Miles” expresses the sorrow and strange hopefulness felt when pursuing an unrequited love. Filmed in lo-fi black-and-white and directed by the group’s visual collaborator Isaac Nelson, Hare Squead opens up their bag of tricks, splitting close-ups of their faces with grainy superimpositions of a full moon and winking eyes and wide shots of stark grey landscape that would fit in an Ingmar Bergman film.

“100 Miles” has earned over 389,000 streams on Spotify, where it enjoys prominent placement on the influential, multi-genre POLLEN playlist (193k followers) and garners over 12,000 streams per day.

Blazing a trail for Irish hip-hop in their hometown of Dublin, Hare Squead developed a loyal fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic with their eccentric and melodic sound. Praised by the likes of PitchforkNoiseyThe Guardian, and many others, Hare Squead found the ears of Goldlink in 2017, when he included a remix of their song “Herside Story” on his At What Cost album, generating over 35 million plays on Spotify. In 2017, the group released two acclaimed singles “Flowers” and “Pure,” which earned more than 6 million combined streams on Spotify alone. Raising their Spotify monthly listenership to over 841k, despite an 18-month hiatus, Hare Squead plans to treat fans plenty of genre-fluid and energetic new music in 2019.

    The Background

Way beyond, across the pond, Hare Squead are quickly making a name for themselves. Hip-Hop and Ireland may seem like two points on opposite ends of the spectrum but the now-band of two, comprised of Tony Konstone and Lilo Blues, are imprinted within both worlds and look at themselves as more than just an anomaly. In 2016, the group found success outside of their local scene with “Long Way to Go” and took advantage of that by dropping their Supernormal EP. The standout single off the EP, “Herside Story,” quickly became a favorite, which led to Goldlink including a remix of the group’s song on his At What Cost album in 2017. Combined, “Herside Story” has amassed over 40 million streams on Spotify to-date. Also in 2017, the group released two acclaimed singles “Flowers” and “Pure,” which earned more than 5 million combined streams on Spotify alone. However, as success builds, unexpected turns can arise to derail everything. After an 18-month absence from the spotlight, in February 2019, Hare Squead made their return with “100 Miles,” a bubbly, guitar-driven single that was inspired by the emotional vulnerability of Aretha Franklin’s “I Say a Little Prayer.” The group plans to release two EPs this year and re-introduce themselves to the world as a formidable talent.

Tasha The Amazon Returns to the Fray with the Pulsing and Melodic “Can’t Remember,” Premiered by HHDX

Single: Tasha The Amazon – “Can’t Remember”

The Toronto Native and The JUNO Award Nominee Deals With an Existential Crisis in this HipHopDX-Premiered Single

    3.5.2019

    Critical Praise:

“Juno Nominee for Rap Recording of the Year, 2017

MuchMusic Video Award Winner for Best Hip-Hop Video, 2017 (“Picasso Leaning”)

“Toronto’s Tasha The Amazon is a Rising Star” – Pigeons & Planes

“The perfect soundtrack for a molly-fueled bacchanal at the end of the world.” – The Cut (New York Magazine)

    The Song:

Rising to prominence in her hometown of Toronto with her powerful warehouse rap sound, Tasha The Amazon is one of her city’s most complete artists. Coming through with a troubled and melodic new banger, Tasha shares Can’t Remember,” her first new single since early 2018. On “Can’t Remember,” Tasha dives deep into her psyche, dealing with the whiplash of her rapid rise from her rough upbringing: “Looking at my life like a montage/I used to keep a knife where the socks are/Now I whip the Wraith like a Honda/Now I fill the safe like a Don does.” Sympathizing with Kurt Cobain and others who collapsed under the weight of fame, Tasha looks to reconcile her past and current selves and make sense of her new life. Produced by Tasha with her production partner Danthrax, the HipHopDX-premiered “Can’t Remember” is the first salvo from Tasha’s upcoming project, arriving this summer.

“I look at the awards, and the tours, and the money, and most of the time I’m grateful,” says Tasha The Amazon. “But this song taps into the times where the hustle cheeses me and makes it hard to act like a normal human being. Sometimes it’s like being caught between two worlds… two versions of yourself:

A Toronto native of Jamaican and German descent, Tasha The Amazon made her mark on her city’s music scene with her raucous stage performances and with warehouse parties notorious for getting shut down by the police. In late 2016, Tasha broke through with Die Every Day, which earned the rapper praise from Billboard, FADER and Pigeons & Planes, as well as a nomination at The JUNO Awards, Canada’s biggest music awards, for Rap Recording of the Year. Tasha spent 2018 holed up in the studio, developing a cohesive and powerful new project and releasing her song “Intercontinental,” which Spotify chose for its Fresh Finds and Women of Fresh Finds playlists. In Summer 2018, Issa Rae selected Tasha’s “All Black” for the soundtrack for Season 3 of her HBO series Insecure. Ready to reveal the fruit of her labors, Tasha prepares for a busy 2019, as she embarks on the path to her sophomore album Black Moon, due this summer.

    The Background:

Tasha the Amazon is an artist, producer, and all-around bad gyal. Fiery and unconventional, she shifts lyrical ground effortlessly from partying to psychonautics; audacity to reflection.

The German-Jamaican powerhouse planted roots in the Toronto rap scene with her first solo mixtape, the critically acclaimed, FiDiYootDem, and quickly distinguished herself with standout performances, rude stage antics, and warehouse jams shut down by the police. Millions of video views and streams later, Tasha released her first album, the Juno-nominated Die Every Day, in 2017. The album and its iconic videos racked up international awards and nominations. She made appearances everywhere, from International Google ads and big-city Spotify billboards, to Comedy Central’s Broad City and HBO’s Insecure.

Tasha began working on her sophomore album while touring internationally in Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the US. On the heels of debut victory, Tasha managed to do what few artists can: wading through the treacherous waters of rap success and excess, she doubled down on experimentation and exploration and spent 2018 living, creating, and partying globally on her own terms. Now, back from her other-worldly adventures, the Toronto prodigy is ready to strike out with her next full-length project, Black Moon, due Summer 2019, with a hoard of new music dropping up to the release.

Produced with her creative partner Danny Thrax (together they form the production duo Bass & Bakery), the album is a daringly honest trip through rap ascendency. Tasha juxtaposes middle-finger-in-the-air bravado with naked vulnerability, a voice coherent with a boldness that can come only from authentically living in extremes.

OMB Peezy & G-Eazy’s “No Keys,” Premiered by Complex, Will Make You Eager for Summertime

OMB Peezy Announces Preacher To The Streets Album, With Appearances From T.I., Lil Durk, Boosie, G-Eazy, and Sada Baby

The Alabama Native Stunts In His Adopted Hometown of Oakland in This Video for this Pre-Summer Jam

    2.28.2019

    Critical Praise:

“[OMB Peezy] is tough but melodic, with a youthfully urgent voice and production that’s indebted to Louisiana and California.” – New York Times

“Peezy’s impassioned flow makes the circumstances he’s discussing feel visceral and immediate as a listener; there’s nothing impressionistic about his bars” – Pigeons and Planes

“This kid from Alabama is the future of rap.” – The FADER

    The Video:

A 21-year-old rapper with the grizzled wisdom of a veteran, OMB Peezy imbues a deep sense of struggle and morality into his rapidfire rhymes. Returning with his second full-length project, Peezy announces Preacher to the Streets, his debut studio album. Endlessly thoughtful about the struggle inherent in street life, Preacher To The Streets finds Peezy relaying detailed hood tales, reflecting on his past and offering life lessons borne out of his upbringing in Mobile, Alabama. Rhyming over production from Drum Dummy, Cassius Jay, Helluva, and many others, Preacher to the Streets leans into Peezy’s Southern roots, reverberating with twangy guitar and warm organ. Featuring appearances from T.I., Lil Durk, Boosie, G-Eazy, Sada Baby, and William King, Preacher To The Streets arrives spring 2019 via 300 Ent./Sick Wid It Records.

Reveling in his newfound riches, Peezy hosts a porch party in No Keys,” his latest video. A breezy and headphone ready rider’s anthem, “No Keys” will make you wish it was BBQ season as Peezy and guestG-Eazy discuss their ways with women and their taste in luxury cars (button-start only, no keys in the ignition). Tying up his dreads and ghost riding in his yellow sports car, Peezy hosts the hottest party in his Oakland neighborhood, bringing out all the ingredients for an A-1 East Bay bash–models, booze, and E-40. Premiered by Complex, who called Peezy “one of the Bay’s most promising rappers,” “No Keys” is the perfect way to let a little West Coast sunshine into the dreary late winter months.

Nearly two years after his debut single “Lay Down” put Peezy on the map, the motormouthed emcee shared Loyalty Over Love, his debut full-length, in summer 2018. Stuffed with glistening Dirty South instrumentals, Loyalty Over Love is the culmination of Peezy’s rise, with sharp lyrics about his life as a rising star and his struggles with the legal system. Featuring appearances from Mozzy, Paper Lovee, and OMB Iceberg, Loyalty Over Love was released by Sick Wid It Records/300 Ent. Peezy treated fans to another revealing glimpse when he shared Behind The Title: Loyalty Over Love, a FADER-premiered mini-doc that explains the main themes behind the album. Stay tuned for Preacher To The Streets, coming this spring.

    The Background:

Born in Alabama, the 10-year-old Peezy moved to the west coast when he was 12, developing a reputation as a rap prodigy, building a following on YouTube, and gaining the respect of the new wave of Bay Area artists such as Nef The Pharaoh and legends such as E-40. In 2017, OMB Peezy parlayed his grassroots local fanbase into a national following, earning millions of combined streams on his singles like the virally popular hitsWhen I Was Down,” Porch,” and Lay Down,” which Pigeons & Planes listed at #14 in their halftime list of Best Songs of 2017 and which Passion of the Weiss listed as their #19 for the year. In October, Peezy shared his debut project Humble Beginnings, a slap-heavy six-pack produced in full by Grammy-nominated producer Cardo Got Wingz (Kendrick Lamar, Jeezy, Meek Mill) and released by Sick Wid It/300 Ent. Peezy also toured throughout 2017, supporting Detroit artist Tee Grizzley in the fall and accompanying SOB x RBE on a national tour in the spring. In January, Peezy shared Young & Reckless, a joint mixtape with Peezy’s 300 Ent. labelmate Sherwood Marty, which proved that Peezy’s excellent run of 2017 singles was no fluke, and in August 2018, Peezy shared Loyalty Over Love, his debut solo full-length. Stay tuned for Peezy’s upcoming Preacher To The Streets project, coming Spring 2019.

Rod Wave Shines a Spotlight on Correctional Injustice in “Red Light” 🚨

  • Press Release

Rod Wave Shines a Spotlight on Correctional Injustice in “Red Light” 🚨

Video: Rod Wave – “Red Light”

The Florida Rapper Ruminates In His Jail Cell in This Powerful New Video

    2.28.2019

    Critical Praise:

If you’re not familiar with the sounds of Rod Wave, he’s certainly one of the most talented acts to come out of Florida in some time.” – The Modern Life Mag

    “One of Florida’s finest musicians”ELEVATOR

    The Video:

Exploring the humanity behind trap life with pathos and melody, Rod Wave specializes in gruff and soulful rap music. Stewing in his jail cell and overflowing with regret, Rod Wave shares “Red Light,” his new music video. Continuing the story from his recent “Weight On My Shoulders” video, “Red Light” starts with Rod’s arrest in connection with a shooting, and continues through his time in jail as he interacts with guards and inmates, and speaks to his loved ones over the phone. The new video shines a spotlight on juveniles languishing in the correctional system, commenting on how the system traps them at a young age, and examining the emotional mindset of the young prisoners: “Look, I don’t wanna rot in my cell, mama/I don’t wanna make last year my last year/Did you see how they did me in court, mama?/Why they keep tryna make me out a bad kid?/How come they ain’t let me out this morning?/All my friends came in and got release dates/They don’t let me out next Monday/Then I’ma start plottin’ on the escape,” rhymes Rod on the track. Boasting impassioned rhymes and a soaring chorus, “Red Light” is a highlight from Rod’s late-2018 Hunger Games 3 tape.

“I was trying to paint a picture of my life experiences and put a visual to it so kids who been through the same thing can relate to it and learn from it,” explains Rod Wave. “I feel like the system is made for you to think its a game, they tell you all this stuff about getting out but the consequences don’t add up to they words. When you a kid, you still have that kid way of thinking, but they trick you so you keep going in there and the consequences pile up and get longer every time. They build you up in the system so by the time you’re an adult they can justify keeping you in the system. They’ll say look he was a troubled kid and did all this time in the past then really lock you down once you’re an adult. Like I say in the song, my juvie cellmate caught 8 years from stealing a car with a gun on him at 15-years-old and I’m just trying to show people my age and younger than me what I been through so they can know about it. I don’t want them to be too late and learn this while they already behind bars. Hopefully, they can see my story and get ahead of it and learn something.”

With music that Moneybagg Yo described as “street gospel,” Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs. Bounding between octaves and effortlessly switching from percussive rhymes to soaring melodies, Rod triumphantly celebrates his rising star status on “Yessir!,” reflects on his friends’ struggles with drug addiction on “Numb,” and flexes his pen game in the extended metaphor “Heart 4 Sale.” Featuring production from the likes of Go Grizzly and Drum Dummie, and boasting the Moneybagg Yo-featuring “Feel The Same Way,” which has over 1.2 million views on YouTube, Hunger Games 3 is a generous showcase of Rod’s supernatural sense of soul. Last week, Rod shared “Hard Times,” his first new single of 2019, which has over 175k streams on its YouTube audio since its release last week.

Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Gucci Mane, and NAV Swap Boasts in “Shoebox”

Single: Hoodrich Pablo Juan – “Shoebox” ft. Gucci Mane & NAV

The Flex-Heavy Trio Attack a Lumbering Trap Colossus in the Latest Single from Pablo’s Upcoming BLO Project

    2.27.2019

    Critical Praise:

Nine out of ten rap fans seem to agree: Hoodrich Pablo Juan is up next.”Complex

HoodRich Pablo Juan should be Atlanta’s next up.” – Stereogum

“A smooth-talking rapper with a nonchalant charm.” Pitchfork

    The Song:

Rhyming with an eerie calm, Hoodrich Pablo Juan doesn’t have to raise his voice to make his presence felt. Joining forces with two of hip-hop’s flashiest flexors, Hoodrich Pablo Juan shares Shoebox,” his new single. Riding a lumbering and colossal trap beat, complete with twinkling piano, pitched-down vocal chants, and monster movie bells, Pablo trades bars with his 1017 Eskimo boss Gucci Mane and with XO standout NAV. Forming a formidable tag team, the three rappers take turns describing their extravagant lives, each trying to one-up each other’s boasts: “Park perpendicular, hopped out the venture doors/Screamed fuck a hater to no one in particular,” rhymes Gucci; “I was trappin’ out a Honda Accord,” says NAV; “I be fresh to death like I’m deceased,” boasts Pablo. Premiered by Highsnobiety, “Shoebox” is the latest single from BLO, Pablo’s upcoming project, following the Complex-premiered, Screaming Slatt,” featuring Young Thug, the sinister Fireworks” (2 million YouTube views) and Dolce Gabbana,” his collaboration with 1017 Eskimo labelmates Yung Mal & Lil QuillBLO arrives this Spring via 1017 Eskimo/Alamo.

“I’ve been laying low for a minute now, but it’s time to remind people who might have forgotten about my impact,” says Pablo about his upcoming project. “I had to go in and remind everyone what I bring to the game can’t be replicated. That’s why I called the project BLO. There are a lot of great features, like Nav, Guwop, and Thugger, but the focus is still on me.”

A quick dose of aggro-trap brilliance, Stereogum praised the EP, calling it “a fascinating combination, with Hoodrich Pablo Juan’s liquid flow wending its way intuitively through Brodinski’s gleaming synths.” Pablo culminated his year with the release of Hoodwolf 2, an absorbing collection of head-nodding trap and a full-length collaboration between Hoodrich Pablo Juan and Danny Wolf,  known for producing Lil Pump‘s “Flex Like Ouu,” Ugly God’s Billboard Hot 100-charting “Water,” and others. Featuring appearances from Rich The Kid, Lil Skies, and Lil DukeHoodwolf 2 perfected Pablo’s menacing persona, and featured the underground hit Tik Tok,” with a boisterous appearance from BlocBoy JB. With the upcoming BLO and much more yet to come, Pablo looks to make 2019 his biggest year yet.

From the D to the Bay: Lil Yee Recruits FMB DZ and Lil Pete for “Sacrifice”

  • Press Release

From the D to the Bay: Lil Yee Recruits FMB DZ and Lil Pete for “Sacrifice”

Single: Lil Yee – “Sacrifice” ft. FMB DZ and Lil Pete

The San Francisco Rapper Recruits Detroit’s FMB DZ and Fellow Fillmore District Native Lil Pete for a Hyperactive and Thoughtful Highlight from the Upcoming Live 4 It, Die 4 It EP

    02.22.2019

    Critical Praise for Lil Yee:

“Lil Yee is dope. He’s from Filmore, and has a song called ‘Hopeless’ that I have on repeat right now. I’m a little late on that record, but it’s still on that repeat. When I heard him, I thought that he was making some music that wasn’t just local-sounding. It sounds like it could be played everywhere.”Clyde Carson in an interview with The BoomBox

    The Song:

Regional hotbeds with distinct sounds, Detroit and the Bay Area share a deep connection in hip-hop. Recruiting the Bay’s Lil Pete and Detroit’s FMB DZ, San Francisco rapper Lil Yee shares Sacrifice,” a blistering and powerful new single. With a beat that showcases the uptempo piano arpeggios native to D with the rubbery bass of Bay Area mob music, “Sacrifice” is a moving hybrid of the two regional sensibilities. The track kicks off with a verse from DZ, who sprints ahead of the beat to reflect on his sacrifices, before Yee comes in with a smooth and plaintive hook and Lil Pete (who happens to be Lil Yee’s cousin) rocks a sing-song cadence. “Sacrifice” is the latest single from Live 4 It, Die 4 ItYee’s upcoming EP, following the lead single and video Red Eagle,” produced by Zaytoven and Cassius Jay and premiered by HYPEBEAST.

The proper follow-up to his 2017 album Cita SonLive 4 It, Die 4 It finds the young rapper expanding his style, moving beyond the traditional Mob music styles of his home neighborhood towards melodic trap and the snapping West Coast sound favored in L.A. and the East Bay. With production from FKI 1st, Zaytoven, Cassius Jay, Helluva, and YK of 808 Mafia, Yee’s upcoming tape is a freewheeling, pan-regional affair, and the San Francisco rapper crosses boundaries with his inimitable style. Featuring the flex-happy anthem Designer Baby,” which released in July and has over 387k video views, and with appearances from E-40, Mozzy, Lil Pete, FMB DZ, and with a posthumous verse from The JackaLive 4 It, Die 4 It comes out on March 22nd via G-Affair/EMPIRE.

    Lil Yee Background:

San Francisco native Stacey Antonio Gilton, better known as Lil Yee, long suspected music was a natural talent of his, but only recently realized that he could make it a career–lifting up not only himself, but his neighborhood as well. Growing up in SF’s Fillmore District, the home of Mob Music, Lil Yee admired the music of local heroes like Messy Marv and The Jacka, as well as East Coast legends like Mobb Deep, Biggie Smalls, and Nas. Combining a gritty East Coastinfluenced sensibility with the bouncy nature of his hometown sound, Lil Yee quickly found an audience, earning millions of YouTube views on songs like “We Livin Hopeless,” “War,” and “Designer Baby.” Though he’s collaborated with a host of Bay Area artists, including Philthy Rich, Prezi, SOB x RBE, Nasty Nate, and many others, and rhymed over beats from the likes of Zaytoven and Cassius Jay, Lil Yee grounds his motivations in the neighborhood he grew up in, hoping to inspire his fellow Bay Area residents with his music. “I make music for people going through the struggle,” says Lil Yee. “I talk about the ups and downs of the life experiences I’ve been through. The best part of making music is the love and passion and inspiration from my fans. People hit me in my DM’s and say, ‘man, that song is helping me get through life.’ Helping people is the best feeling.”

🐍 Hoodrich Pablo Juan Calls Up Young Thug For the Manic “Screaming Slatt,” Premiered by Complex

Single: Hoodrich Pablo Juan – “Screaming Slatt” ft. Young Thug

The 1017 Eskimo Standout Brings Back Slime Season With the New Single From the Upcoming BLO Project

    2.21.2019

    Critical Praise:

“Nine out of ten rap fans seem to agree: Hoodrich Pablo Juan is up next.”Complex

HoodRich Pablo Juan should be Atlanta’s next up.” – Stereogum

“A smooth-talking rapper with a nonchalant charm.” Pitchfork

    The Song:

Supernaturally zen when it comes to trapping, Hoodrich Pablo Juan hypnotizes with his soft-spoken, hard-hitting style. Recruiting one of rap’s most manic mic presences, Pablo recruits Young Thug for Screaming Slatt,” his new single. Weaving his basso profundo flow within a hyperactive and trebly instrumental, Pablo and Thug profess loyalty to their day ones, as they exchange extravagant boasts in their inimitable styles: “A million diamonds and all of them mine,” spits Pablo in his verse. Premiered by Complex, “Screaming Slatt” showcases the yin-yang chemistry between the two Atlanta rappers, with Pablo’s blunt force charisma anchoring Thug’s yawping flights of fancy.

“Screaming Slatt” is the latest single from BLO, Hoodrich Pablo Juan’s upcoming project, following the sinister Fireworks” (2 million YouTube views) and Dolce Gabbana,” his collaboration with 1017 Eskimo labelmates Yung Mal & Lil QuillBLO arrives this Spring via 1017 Eskimo/Alamo.

Featuring appearances from Rich The Kid, Lil Skies, and Lil DukeHoodwolf 2 perfected Pablo’s menacing persona, boasting the underground hit Tik Tok,” featuring a boisterous appearance from BlocBoy JB and earning over 3.7 million streams on Spotify. With the upcoming BLO and much more yet to come, Pablo looks to make 2019 his biggest year yet.

San Francisco Native Lil Yee Announces Live 4 It, Die 4 It, His Next EP, Releasing March 22nd via EMPIRE

The Fillmore District Rapper Connects With ATL Sound Architects Zaytoven and Cassius Jay for “Red Eagle,” Premiered by HYPEBEAST

    02.15.2019

    Critical Praise for Lil Yee:

“Lil Yee is dope. He’s from Filmore, and has a song called ‘Hopeless’ that I have on repeat right now. I’m a little late on that record, but it’s still on that repeat. When I heard him, I thought that he was making some music that wasn’t just local-sounding. It sounds like it could be played everywhere.”Clyde Carson in an interview with The BoomBox

    The Announcement:

Putting on for San Francisco’s Fillmore District, a rich region in rap’s history, Lil Yee makes relatable music for those going through the everyday struggle. Preparing a collection of hard-hitting and aspirational street rap, Lil Yee announces Live 4 It, Die 4 It, his upcoming EP. Featuring the flex-happy anthem Designer Baby,” which released in July and has over 381k video views, and with appearances from E-40, Mozzy, Lil Pete, FMB DZ, and with a posthumous verse from The JackaLive 4 It, Die 4 It comes out on March 22nd via G-Affair/EMPIRE.

To accompany the announcement of the mixtape, Lil Yee shares Red Eagle,” a poignant and sweetly-sung slice of street gospel. Reflecting on those he’s loved and lost, Yee rhapsodizes on the importance of staying true to yourself as life’s struggles mount: “Pray for me, if them demons get inside of me/Wait and see, would you come or would you glide for me?/Thankfully, I was blessed with a family/And everything I go and get is not a casualty.” In the video, shot in crisp black-and-white, Yee retreats into his city’s hills, offering panoramic vistas as he sings his heart out. Produced by plaintive grandeur by ATL sound architects Zaytoven and Cassius Jay, who provide airy keyboards and understated drums that add to the emotional heft of Yee’s lyrics, the HYPEBEAST-premiered “Red Eagle” is a formidable preview of what’s to come on Live 4 It, Die 4 It.
