The Background:

A self-taught singer and musician, Calboy started making rap music at the age of 12, influenced by the sounds of drill heroes like Lil Durk with poppier fare like Ed Sheeran. King Von was born in the South Side of Chicago, growing up in O Block, the area that produced Chief Keef. Hailing from the frigid North, in a city where you never know whether you will live through the long nights, Lil Durk‘s life has more in common with Game Of Thrones than you might think at first glance. Teaming up with Teyana Taylor to create a diverse and sexy alternate vision of the show’s fantasy realm of Westeros, Lil Durk shares the video for “Home Body Remix.” Clad in furs reminiscent of Jon Snow and bejeweled armor that evokes the Unsullied, Durk takes his horse up the old Kingsroad to a mysterious palace, where he interacts with dozens of masked, scantily clad models, before heading up to the chambers of Queen Teyana. Explaining her vision for the video Teyana says, “I strive to make videos that are the complete opposite of what’s expected. The song is sexy – it gives me vintage, almost medieval vibes. A recognized figure in Memphis, Key Glock grew up idolizing the music of Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne. Lil Yee Background:

San Francisco native Stacey Antonio Gilton, better known as Lil Yee, long suspected music was a natural talent of his, but only recently realized that he could make it a career–lifting up not only himself, but his neighborhood as well. Growing up in SF’s Fillmore District, the home of Mob Music, Lil Yee admired the music of local heroes like Messy Marv and The Jacka, as well as East Coast legends like Mobb Deep, Biggie Smalls, and Nas. Combining a gritty East Coastinfluenced sensibility with the bouncy nature of his hometown sound, Lil Yee quickly found an audience, earning millions of YouTube views on songs like “We Livin Hopeless,” “War,” and “Designer Baby.” Though he’s collaborated with a host of Bay Area artists, including Philthy Rich, Prezi, SOB x RBE, Nasty Nate, and many others, and rhymed over beats from the likes of Zaytoven and Cassius Jay, Lil Yee grounds his motivations in the neighborhood he grew up in, hoping to inspire his fellow Bay Area residents with his music. “I make music for people going through the struggle,” says Lil Yee. “I talk about the ups and downs of the life experiences I’ve been through.
