YN Jay Announces 6/1 ‘Young Wild & Free’ Project, Calls for Applause on “Shake That A$$ Baby”

  • Press Release

YN Jay Announces 6/1 ‘Young Wild & Free’ Project, Calls for Applause on “Shake That A$$ Baby”

    5.26.2022

YN Jay Prepares Next Project Young Wild & Free, Coming June 1st via Alamo Records

The Michigan Native Shares New Single “Shake That A$$ Baby

The Coochie Man Prepares to Unleash his Adolescent Audacity on New Project with Appearances from Babyface Ray, Mozzy, Bizzy Banks, Rio Da Yung OG, and Louie Ray

    Critical Praise:

“There is Bruce Wayne and Batman. Clark Kent and Superman. And now, YN Jay and the Coochie Man” – Pitchfork

“Flint, Michigan wouldn’t be one of the hottest scenes in rap without ‘Coochie,’ ‘Coochie World,’ ‘Coochie Scout,’ a mixtape titled Coochie Land, and Coochie Man, the floor-humping alter ego of YN Jay.” – Pitchfork

“‘Coochie’ is one of the funniest hip-hop videos of the last five years” – XXL

“The Flint native is one of the more eccentric rappers in Michigan, rapping about coochie, using very distinct ‘hold onnnnnnnnnnnnn’ ad-ibs, and starting off songs by asking the producer: ‘Why you always do that mannnnnnnn?’ I’m honestly not sure what these producers are doing while YN Jay is recording in the booth, but whatever it is, it’s working. The music is always wildly entertaining.” – Complex

“He raps in different voices, draws out words like they’re self-contained riddles. You never know if he’s entirely serious, but that’s the point.”- SPIN

    The Announcement:

With his animated spin on Flint rap, driven by a sense of sexual frustration that borders on mania, YN Jay has consistently built on his viral arrival to the scene. Diving head-first into the jovial, adolescent sound he’s built a career upon, YN Jay announces Young Wild & Free, his next project. The project is a Michigan rap affair through and through, featuring appearances from pioneers of the scene including Rio Da Yung OG and Babyface Ray, as well as explosive production from Michigan sound architects like ENRGY, Wayne616, and Marc Boomin. Jam-packed with Jay’s undeniable humor and unflappable intensity, Young Wild & Free arrives June 1st via Alamo Records.

Alongside the announcement, Jay shares his new single, “Shake That A$$ Baby.” Coming hot on the heels of the recent video single, “Coochie Island,” “Shake That A$$ Baby” finds the Coochie Man in fine form, delivering his raunchy rhymes in his laid back flow. Over a beat by his favorite collaborator ENRGY, the Michigan rap star plots his empire of coochie commerce, ringing off his extensive resume of skills, rapping, “I can GPS you to this one spot like a navigator/I’ll whoop your a** in the ring like I’m Gladiator/I’ve been counting numbers all year, I’m a calculator/All I need is 7 shots of Henny, I’m an activator.”

YN Jay kicked off 2022 with his Mozzy and Louie Ray-assisted banger, “Tip Off,” following a prolific 2021, in which the Alamo Records signee released multiple projects, spark ed several viral trends, and dropped a metric ton of music videos. Furthermore, the Michigan rapper solidified himself as a somewhat mythical figure on TikTok, generating millions of video creations on viral hits like “Triple S,” “Coochie Land,” and “Kakashi,” while his inimitable raps quickly earned co-signs from the likes of Drake and Lil Uzi Vert. Among his 2021 projects was the highly acclaimed Coochie Chronicles, home to singles like “Slow Motion” and the Coi Leray-assisted, “Triple S Remix.” Receiving praise from Pitchfork, The FADER, and more, the project ushers listeners into Jay’s sex-crazed mind, wielding his slip-sliding, start-stopping flow as he unleashes a torrent of punchlines and outrageous boasts. Coochie Chronicles is also home to Jay’s signature song, “Coochie,” a collaboration with “Tip Off” featured artist and close friend, Louie Ray, which boasts over 32 million views on YouTube.

Stay tuned for much more from the “Coochie Man” as he gears up for the release of Young Wild & Free.

    The Background:

“It’s scary how easy it is for me to make music,” admits 21-year-old rapper YN Jay. This is true of his 2020 hit “Coochie” and the follow-up album Coochie Land. “It was made in three minutes, easily, and the video did 30 million views. I’ve been writing songs to go a certain way my whole life, but it never worked. Now, I’m not overthinking it, and it’s making me a star.” After over a decade at the mic, the Beecher, Michigan native has given rap fans an alternative to music about violence and drugs.

Amid his rise, Jay got cosigns from Drake and Lil Uzi Vert. While Drizzy and Jay are exploring music, he recorded extensively with Uzi. The same night the two discussed collaborating, Jay stopped everything to drive to Philly. “I pulled up; we did damn near eight songs.” One track, the “coochie”-inspired “HOLD ONNNNN,” promises to release during an exciting 2021. Fresh off of Ninja Warrior—an album featuring Lil Yachty and Sada Baby that he conceptualized and recorded in a single day, YN Jay recently signed a deal with Alamo Records and is focused on showcasing his versatility and staying power. “I’m working on a few albums and letting the world know how big this is. Anybody can be a rapper; I’m trying to catch the culture and update the game.”

  • Press Release

Louisville’s The Homies Get Hype Like Williams in “Shake” Video

    5.25.2022

Video: The Homies – “Shake” (Dir. by Ace Pro)

The Jack Harlow Co-Signed Louisville Rap Group–Comprised of Ace Pro, Quiiso, 2forWOyNe, and Shloob–Share a High-Octane Video Single Ahead of a Hometown Performance at Forecastle Festival This Friday

    Critical Praise:

“The Homies have quietly been climbing to the top of the indie music scene, with singles and visuals such as “Home Alone” and “The Come Down”, which they gave fans earlier this summer. Known for their own unique individualism, Honest Living embodies each personality flawlessly from Ace Pro’s creative vision, 2FoWoyne’s distinct production, and Shloob and Quiiso’s melodic flows.”Broadway World

“The Homies deliver top tier bars showcasing their natural unique talent”RESPECT Mag

“9 Exciting Acts to Catch at Forecastle This Year…Everything that they do is smooth, with a relaxed creatively that still hits hard. All things considered, their superpower is the diversity of their styles, how each member is different, bringing new energy and ideas into various moments. That’s the thing about a collective done right: it’s never gets boring, because there’s too much talent.”Louisville City Beat

“Louisville rappers respect the artistry of their peers, love to collaborate with one another, and love to rep the ‘Ville. The next group to pop from the 502 is none other than The Homies. The Homies consist of four individualistic, multi-talented artists: Quiiso, Shloob, Ace Pro, and 2forwOyNE.”SHEESH Media

    The Video:

A do-it-all collective that specializes in sounds both energetic and smooth, Louisville’s The Homies channel their spritely communal spirit into sparkling rap jams. Unleashing an uptempo dancefloor jam with booming bass and lightning-quick wordplay, The Homies share Shake,” their latest video single. Produced by group member 2forWOyNe, who has multiple credits on Jack Harlow’s Top 5-charting album Come Home The Kids Miss You, “Shake” layers tuneful 808s, breathy ad-libs, and entrancing keyboards to create an inviting canvas for the group’s emcees to paint their masterpiece. Quiiso starts things off with a floating, effortless-sounding series of flexes (“Security know the name, I don’t need ID/These n****s is second fiddle like N.I.T.”); Shloob follows with a sing-song hook, and Ace Pro comes through with a playalistic anchor verse: “Got two bad hoes tryna catch a vibe/And I give ’em mad work like a 9 to 5.”

Directed by Ace Pro, who handles the visuals for all of The Homies’ releases, the video for “Shake” demonstrates the kinetic group energy that has them rising in the indie rap scene. The clip presents The Homies in close-up and close quarters, using flashy backgrounds and fish-eye perspectives that evoke the big budget videos of ’90s rap auteur Hype Williams. Ace Pro intercuts the scenes of the sunglass-clad Homies vibing with some ladies with comedic vignettes that correspond to the lyrics. “Shake” is the first new song and video of the year for The Homies, as they prepare to release a new album this summer.

Formed in Louisville out of a shared passion for music and creativity, The Homies have earned high-profile co-signs, earning praise from iconic DJs DJ Drama and Don Cannon, and opening on tour for artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Bryson Tiller, and Waka Flocka Flame. The Homies scored a cult hit with Leaf Wraps,” a Jack Harlow-featuring single that scored over 5 million streams on Spotify, and later appeared on their 2018 debut album UmbrellasThey followed up Umbrellas with last year’s Honest Livinghome to the single “White Lies” (3.7 million Spotify streams). With the follow-up to Honest Living on the way, The Homies plan to show off their live chops on May 27th at Louisville’s own Forecastle Festival.

With much more music on deck and an unshakeable passion for The Homies are ready to follow in the footsteps of their friend Jack Harlow from the Louisville underground to the rap mainstream. Sit back, and watch their rise.

Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami – Festival Recap

The First Ever Planet AFROPUNK Live in Miami Brings Vibrant Performances From Skillibeng, Stonebwoy, YEИDRY, Mavado, and Many More Talented Acts from the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora

    THE RECAP:

AFROPUNK festivals blend elements like food, dance, tech, and music in an effort to celebrate Black culture and enhance community understanding. This weekend, AFROPUNK hosted Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami, bringing thrilling performances and a charged countercultural energy to the 305. Hosted at The Urban, in the city’s historic, and historically Black, community of Overtown, the first-ever Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami offered a day of thought-provoking conversation, followed by two days of incredible music and activations like the Spinthrift Market, a shop market full of talented makers, selectors and curators from all across the diaspora, and AFROPUNK’s Bites ‘n Beats, the literal embodiment of “food for the soul,” which provided event goers an opportunity to indulge in cuisines from renowned chefs and local food trucks.

The first night of the festival brought energizing performances from the likes of Stonebwoy and Mavado, who made the crowd jump with raucous riddims from Ghana and Jamaica, respectively, as well as the genre-bending beats of ChocQuibTown, soulful Spanish-language songs from YEИDRY, and a blazing DJ set from Major Lazer member Walshy Fire. Sunday kept the groove coming, with a headlining performance from red hot dancehall artist Skillibeng, who performed his first-ever concert in the United States, a tasteful DJ set from local hero Silent Addy, a star turn from rising Afrobeats rapper Prettyboy D-O, and a surprise-filled set from Michael Brun, who brought out a litany of special guests from around the globe.

Planet AFROPUNK Live: Miami ushers in a new era of AFROPUNK live experiences, allowing for all elements of a local culture to be expressed freely and fully. The first live AFROPUNK event since the onset of the pandemic, Planet AFROPUNK Miami sets the pace for a busy year for the AFROPUNK brand, as it expands into new cities and prepares to do it big for its flagship event in Brooklyn. Planet AFROPUNK lands in Minneapolis this June, with artists like Ari Lennox, Noname, and more in tow.

Trapland Pat and BIG30 Unite to Leave the Opps “D.O.A.”

    5.25.2022

    Video: Trapland Pat – “D.O.A.” ft. BIG30

The South Florida Spitter Enlists Memphis Riser BIG30 for New Single Ahead of Upcoming Project Trapnificent

    Critical Praise:

“He’s subtly melodic and catchy even outside of the hook. He does the beat justice by making what he grew up with into something new.” – Pitchfork

“”Big Business is the #18 Best Rap Song of 2021–If “Big Business” is any indication, Trapland Pat may well become South Florida’s next rap auteur. In less than two minutes, he deftly connects Broward County’s disparate styles, vibrating at his own zany frequency.” – Passion Of The Weiss

“10 New Miami Rappers To Watch…Trapland Pat is unlike any other act to come out of South Florida. Since 2019, Pat has consistently delivered grimy bars and smooth cadences over an array of trap beats. Over the past three years, the Deerfield Beach native has been feeding his growing fanbase with singles like “Emergency” and “Dealings,” along with four projects: Exit 41, Pak Man, Interstate Baby, and 2020 Vision. (The last two albums were released via Fredo Bang’s imprint Bang Biz Productions/Create Music Group.) In 2021, Trapland Pat dropped his latest project, Thru Da Door, via Bang Biz, featuring collaborations with Kuttem Reese and Members Only rapper Kid Trunks. He’s still pushing his latest single, ‘Boondocks,”‘which dropped last month. However, on Instagram, Pat celebrated the anniversary of his song ‘Big Business’ and teased a potential remix coming later this year.” – Miami New Times

“Over the course of the last few weeks perhaps no one else has hit the scene as hard as Pat…The Florida rapper raps with wide-eyed astonishment, seemingly at his own bars sometimes which become as animated as his facial expressions. To be honest, the sheer confidence Trapland Pat employs on the track here just makes you want to pay attention or risk missing out on something.” – ELEVATOR

    “Trapland Pat makes pretty music.”Stereogum

    The Video:

Spitting silky-smooth rhymes with his distinct South Florida flavor, Trapland Pat is well on his way to becoming Broward County’s next rap star. Joining forces with Memphis riser BIG30, Pat shares his new single “D.O.A.,” the latest glimpse into his upcoming project, Trapnificent, coming soon via Bang Biz Ent./Alamo Records.

Reconnecting with frequent collaborator PepperJackZoe, who produced recent singles like “Cappin,” “Losses,” and “Trap Dance” and co-produced “D.O.A.” with Hardbody B-Eazy, the new video finds Pat and 30 posting up in the nighttime streets, surrounded by Hellcats and old school Chevys, equipped with rims as large and lustrous as the duo themselves. As the pair cooks up some fire in a food truck, Pat makes it clear that it could very well be the opps’ last supper they’re whipping up: “Trench warfare, this is where you gotta crawl at/You never get active, what you know about combat?/Know you smoke mid, I can show you where the strong at.”

Born and raised in Deerfield Beach, FL, Trapland Pat is one of the leading voices in a bustling wave of South Florida street rap. The rapper’s wide-eyed charisma, tongue-twisting flows, and subtle melodic flavor earned the attention of Fredo Bang, who signed Pat to his Bang Biz imprint, in partnership with Alamo Records. He started to earn national recognition in 2021 with his single “Big Business,” which earned praise from Passion of the Weiss, who placed the song at #18 on its list of Best Rap Songs of 2021. “Big Business” was the centerpiece of the Pitchfork-acclaimed Thru The Door, an accomplished 13-track mixtape with appearances from fellow Floridians Kid Trunks and Kuttem Reese.

As Trapland Pat looks to take his searing street raps to a larger audience with the upcoming Trapnificent, stay tuned for much more music from the young rapper, and don’t dare doubt his determination to succeed.

SossHouse Standout Jelly Announces ‘The Wolf of Peachtree 2,’ Links with Juicy J on New Single

    5.19.2022

Jelly Announces Pi’erre Bourne-Produced Project, The Wolf of Peachtree 2, Arriving May 27th

The SOSSHOUSE Standout Bonds with Juicy J over Shared Interests on New “Bubble Gum” Single

The East Atlanta Rapper Channels his Inner DiCaprio with Pi’erre Bourne as his Scorcese on Upcoming Project, The Wolf of Peachtree 2

    The Announcement:

Jelly, the SOSSHOUSE stunner known as “Mr. Popular,” may have Jordan Belfort’s vibrant charisma and shrewd tenacity, but unlike that other “wolf,” he has the smooth elusiveness to stick around for a sequel. Returning to reprise his titular role, Jelly announces his next project, The Wolf of Peachtree 2, arriving May 27th. Entirely produced by long-time friend and mentor Pi’erre Bourne, who also contributes vocals to the project highlight “WYA,” The Wolf of Peachtree 2 refines Jelly’s cinematic style. Over Pi’erre’s genre-bending instrumentals and jaw-dropping transitions, Jelly delivers his most combative cadences yet on unrelenting project cuts like “Twin” and “Mumble Jumble.” Whereas Belfort’s wolf wakes up each morning with backaches and dry eyes, Peachtree’s wolf rises in a different fashion, as he kicks off “Pop It” rapping, “Woke up 10 o’clock, I’m feeling kinda pissed/The numbers just played, smoked a blunt, I dropped the fifth.”

Along with the project’s announcement, Jelly shares “Bubble Gum,” his new Juicy J-assisted single that puts the “peach” in “Peachtree.” A chirpy celebration of curvature coated in the influence of Three 6 Mafia, both in sound and subject matter, “Bubble Gum” sees the South Carolina native channel the immutable flows of Memphis’ underground with stunning efficacy. Never one to disappoint in the ponderance of posteriors, Juicy J delightfully enters the discussion on their common interest, rapping, “Damn, that a** bubbalicious/I had to smash two times, guess I’m double dipping.”

Jelly’s collaboration with Juicy J, who also lends his ear to the project as an engineer, helped to check an item off the rising rappers bucket list: “I linked up with Juicy J for the first time in December so that was cool meeting him,” says Jelly. “Me and Pi’erre love Juicy, Project Pat, and the whole Memphis wave they did. We pulled up, met Juicy — cool guy, real humble guy.”

As the South Carolinian prepares to roll out his 12-track sequel to 2020’s The Wolf of Peachtree with Pi’erre Bourne behind the boards, stay tuned for The Wolf of Peachtree 2, arriving on May 27th via SOSSHOUSE.

Lil Kee Delivers a Barrage of Bittersweet Bars on “Automatic”

    Video: Lil Kee – “Automatic

The 4PF Riser Channels Pain into Persistence, Spitting Rapid-Fire Reflections on New Single from Next Project, Letter 2 My Brother, Out June 3rd via Four Pockets Full Inc.

    Critical Praise:

“I can definitely see him up next. Only thing he gotta do is keep his formula and just keep putting out music and he got it” – Lil Baby to XXL

“10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now”Audiomack

“Kee’s ability to turn his pain into stories and share it in his music is mind-blowing.”Lyrical Lemonade

    The Video:

With his earnest introspection and prodigious rhythmic agility, 4PF signee Lil Kee has established himself as one of the South’s most promising up-and-comers. Spitting raw reflections with unrelenting explosiveness, Lil Kee shares his new video single, “Automatic,” the latest trap ballad from his upcoming project, Letter 2 My Brother. The track finds Kee ruminating on his brother’s loss and how it seemingly tipped the balance in his fight-or-flight response in favor of the former, as he raps, “I was just walking alone on the road, wasn’t even looking for smoke/Get that lit feeling through my whole body whenever there’s knocks at the door.”

Arriving with a haunting and hard-hitting, Diesel Films-directed music video, “Automatic” comes hot on the heels of “Letter 2 My Brother,” his mixtape’s title track, which surpassed 1 million views in just three weeks.

Picking up music as a creative outlet after the loss of his cousin inspired him to keep his memory alive, Lil Baby hand-picked Lil Kee for his 4PF label roster for his ability to deliver raw street narratives and vulnerable pleas for respite with a naturally potent vocal gravitas. “I can definitely see him up next,” said Lil Baby to XXL. “Only thing he gotta do is keep his formula and just keep putting out music and he got it.”

    The Song:

Somewhere between the devil on one side and the angel on the other, Suigeneris has a chip on his shoulder. Hell-bent on sending smoke to the snakes only bold enough to boss up in his absence, the Bay Area native returns to clean house on his electric new single, “BACK IN MY CITY.” Bringing explosive energy to an instrumental where bone-shaking bass collides with pitched-up guitar loops like thunder and lightning, the 18-year old artist’s intensity neither slows nor ceases from the moment he enters with the track’s infectious hook: “Whippin’ the V12 with no seatbelt/Details, I ain’t never need no b****.” In the video, Suie returns to his hometown of San Jose, visiting his old middle school and other haunts that he’s missed since moving to L.A. to make hits.

On a mission to prove he can rap circles around emcees of any age, and with the undeniable appeal and dexterity to back it up, Suie’s been sending out more slaps than the Oscars in recent weeks. “BACK IN MY CITY” arrives just a week after Suie showcased his mastery of the minimal, stripping his sound down to only the most essential elements on the endearing “Song.” Earlier this month, Suie shared “Down,” a soul sampling SoundCloud single released in collaboration with fellow teen titan yvngxchris, which peaked at #12 on SoundCloud’s New & Hot chart.

Suigeneris broke into the rap game at the tender age of 14, earning co-signs from the likes of Lil Skies and YG, and racking up tens of millions of streams. He showed that age was nothing but a number with his 2019 project Suinamifeatured appearances from NLE ChoppaTJ Porter, and Daddex, and gave rise to hits like “Lucifer” (2 million YouTube views). Sui returned in 2020 with Demons N Angels, a double EP split in two halves–the Demons half of the project showcases Suie’s rapping skills and impish charm, while the Angels half expands his sound into the worlds of pop and R&B. During the pandemic, Suie took a brief hiatus from music to start his own clothing brand, Demons N Angels a.k.a. DNA, a streetwear company with eye-popping design and skyrocketing sales. Suie recently resurfaced on SoundCloud, showing off his new rapping style with songs like Tiger Woods,” and he plans on dropping fire on a regular basis as the summer heats up.

Already a popping rapper and successful CEO, there’s nothing that Suigeneris can’t accomplish. He may have reached a laundry list of lifelong goals by the time he could legally vote, but he’s still hungry, and not done growing. Stay tuned for much more from the young OG in the near future.

Introduced to hip-hop by his brothers, Suigeneris experienced his first taste of success at the young age of 13, when his video “Pull Up” caught fire in the Bay Area to the tune of 1.6 million YouTube views. Since then, Suie’s career trended ever upward. “Pull Up” caught the ear of Landon Cube, who brought Suie on as an opening act for his tour. Through Cube, Suie met Lil Skies, who appreciated Suie’s melodic mastery enough to collaborate with him on “Now” (6.2 million Spotify streams, 3.6 million YT views). Big Moochie Grape Flexes Heavy in “Never Had Sh*t” Video

    5.19.2022

Video: Big Moochie Grape – “Never Had Sh*t

The Paper Route Empire Standout Flexes Heavy in the Luxurious New Video from East Haiti Baby, a New Mixtape Out May 27th

    The Video:

Growing up in rough and tumble East Memphis, Big Moochie Grape needed to hustle hard to escape the circumstances of his birth. Recounting his rise from squalor to baller, Moochie shares Never Had Sh*t,” his new video single. Produced by Bandplay, who layers sliding bass and twinkling keys over hard-hitting 808s and snares, “Never Had Sh*t” finds Moochie locked in, marveling at how far he’s come and celebrating his status as the People’s Champ of Memphis: “Come to my hood, they treat me like I’m Jesus/And I keep me a bunch of disciples.” In the video, Moochie relaxes with a bevy of baddies in a Hollywood mansion, as he shouts out the Paper Route iLLUMINATi and practices his golf game. Coming hot on the heels of last week’s I’m The One” (275k+ views on YouTube), “Never Had Sh*t” is the latest release from East Haiti Baby, Moochie’s next mixtape, coming May 27th via Paper Route Empire.

Chronicling Big Moochie Grape’s evolution from East Memphis hustler to budding rap star, East Haiti Baby chronicles Moochie’s rise from the trap to the top, showcasing the street acumen and sly grin that endeared him to Young Dolph, who handpicked him for his label. The upcoming tape gets a lift from Moochie’s larger-than-life charisma–throughout the mixtape, Moochie compares himself to figures like Ric Flair, Biggie Smalls, and even Joe Biden, making those grandiose comparisons feel natural. Big Moochie brings the family for East Haiti Baby, welcoming guest spots from fellow PRE rappers Key Glock and Kenny Muney, plus an appearance from Young Dolph himself. Continuing a dominant year for Paper Route Empire as they honor Dolph’s legacy, East Haiti Baby arrives on May 27th via Paper Route Empire.

Big Moochie Grape burst onto the scene in 2020 with Eat Or Get Atean hard-hitting EP that earned coverage in XXL, UPROXX, 2DopeBoyz, HotNewHipHop, and more. Home to singles like Big Juiceand Uh Huh Uh Huh Uh Huh(4.4 million views), Eat Or Get Ate established Moochie as one of PRE’s most valuable players. The rapper returned with a vengeance on Paper Route Empire’s PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi mixtape, turning in highlight tracks like Illuminati Business” and Non Stop” (1.2 million views), and made his mark on Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolphdelivering the powerful and defiant In Dolph We Trust (1.4 million YouTube views).

With East Haiti Baby on the way, Big Moochie Grape is determined to hit it big and keep Paper Route Empire’s winning streak going. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

Lupe Fiasco Announces 6/24 ‘DRILL MUSIC IN ZION’ Album, Shares First Single “AUTOBOTO”

    5.19.2022

Lupe Fiasco Prepares Next Album DRILL MUSIC IN ZION, Coming June 24th via 1st & 15th/Thirty Tigers

The GRAMMY Award-Winning Artist Gets Signals From the Source in “AUTOBOTO,” the Hard-Hitting Lead Single

The Proud Chicago Native Draws Connections Between the Street-Level and the Sublime in His Upcoming Album; Holders of Lupe’s “LFT” Earn Exclusive Merch, Tickets, and Access to Narrative Elements Relating to the Album

    The Announcement:

Twisting and contorting the English language to fit the meter and his every whim, Lupe Fiasco uses his superb lyrical skill to process the changing world in which he lives. Drawing connections between the concrete and spiritual in his hometown of Chicago, Lupe announces DRILL MUSIC IN ZIONhis next album. The product of a burst of thoughtful spontaneity, Lupe created the new album over a short period, diving into a folder of beats sent by his longtime producer Soundtrakk and emerging with a fully-realized album in just three days. “Soundtrakk is the swordmaker, I’m the samurai,” says Lupe. “He’s the mechanic, and I’m the driver.” Armed with Soundtrakk’s soulful sounds, Lupe creates a focused statement that reflects on the past and paves a way forward, preaching strength through mindfulness and self-sustaining community. DRILL MUSIC IN ZION arrives on June 24th via 1st & 15th/Thirty Tigers.

Along with the announcement of the album, Lupe shares AUTOBOTO,” the first DMIZ single. Mischievous, playful, and deceptively dense, “AUTOBOTO” gets its power from Soundtrakk’s creeping keys and modal guitar melodies and Lupe’s mantra-like hook. The rapper weaves meticulous metaphors and wry words of wisdom, proclaiming his fierce independence even as he decries the uselessness of individual rebellion in the face of rising tides of corruption and industry: “Why buy a tub when the Bayou a flood/Better buy you a sub/How you gon survive in the club, you gon kayak it, cuz, when they rise up above/And the waves come and push and the tidal’s a shove/What’s an infrared dot to a whole dot gov.” At the end of the song, Lupe cedes the mic to Nayirah, who slows down Lupe’s hook to a languid tempo and allows the defiant message to marinate.

His first new album since 2018’s Drogas WaveDRILL MUSIC IN ZION marks the start of another chapter in Lupe’s illustrious career. The proud Chicago native has already had a busy 2022, marked with sold out shows, new music, and much more. Lupe recently closed out his “Food & Liquor Tour,” a series of performances in which he plays his debut album in full. He paid tribute to his hometown in the reflective, self-produced 100 Chicagos,” and dug into the archives to share “Hustlaz,” a previously-unreleased song originally recorded before the release of the now-classic debut album Food & Liquor. Beyond music, Lupe continues to focus on the community organizations he founded, including We Are M.U.R.A.L, The Neighborhood Start-Up Fund, Society of Spoken Art, and his cross-cultural content venture, Studio SV.

Lupe recently launched his “LFT” program, a new NFT program that allows fans to get closer than ever to Lupe. Unlike many NFTs, which solely exist in the digital space, the “LFT” program offers token-holders an array of online and offline benefits. The benefits start with a generative art profile pic–each LFT holder gets a unique digital artwork inspired by Lupe’s album Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, which celebrates its 15th birthday this year.

With DRILL MUSIC IN ZION on deck, an invigorated Lupe Fiasco seeks to prove once again that few rappers in history can rhyme like him. Stay tuned for much more from the legendary artist in the coming weeks.

On TikTok: Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, and Suki Waterhouse Make Waves

    5.18.2022

TikTok Treats, Week of May 16th

Bad Bunny’s New Album Sparks Multiple Hits, Kendrick Lamar Inspires Meme and Discussion, and Suki Waterhouse Goes Viral with Moody Lyrics from 2017

    The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. This week was dominated by the release of two very different blockbuster albums–Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti and Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The hit-packed Un Verano Sin Ti is seemingly tailor-made for TikTok, with danceable beats and a variety of vibes to suit any mood. Kendrick’s album is less immediate, but still rewarding to experience on the platform, as it inspired a universe of videos that include analysis of the deeper themes, song covers, memes, and more. Check out how those albums made an impact, plus more:

This week, TikTok revealed The Showbiz List, TikTok’s premiere list recognizing and celebrating some of the incredible creators making waves in the entertainment industry. The list comprises 35 creators including filmmakers, actors, designers, musicians, stylists, and more, who turn TikTok videos into artistic masterpieces and bring the magic of Hollywood to the vertical screen. TikTok included three music creators on the list:

@abigailbarlowww & @emilythebear (Los Angeles, CA): Abigail Barlow is a Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and composer best known for her viral TikTok musical series: “What if Bridgerton Was A Musical?” After breaking the internet, Abigail and her writing partner Emily Bear, a Grammy Award-winning composer, producer, and chart-topping recording artist, turned this viral success into a Grammy Award-Winning Musical Theatre Album known as “The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical.” In doing so, they became the youngest composing team to ever win in this category, and made history by being the only women among their fellow nominees.

@MegaGoneFree (Queens, NY): MegaGoneFree is a Black LGBTQ+ independent artist originally from Baltimore, MD who shares her powerful and soulful melodies on TikTok. As a Black woman occupying a genre without many mainstream Black voices, she aims to create music that spreads a message of love, open-mindedness and empathy with her followers.

@sri (Dallas, TX): As a Brown woman in music, Sri uses her platform to show her audience that skin color will never stop you from doing what you love. She is well known for her viral cover of “Heather” and her TikTok videos where she showcases her talent for building harmonies and singing 30 second covers, and she most recently starred in the TikTok original musical, “For You, Paige” as the titular role of Paige.

Please reach out if interested in interviewing any of these three creators.

Trapland Pat Shares Live Performance of New Song “Cappin”

    5.18.2022

Video: Trapland Pat – “Cappin” (Live)

The Alamo Records Signee Lights Up the Vice City Streets with a Live Performance of His New Song, From His Upcoming Project Trapnificent, Out This Summer via Alamo Records

    The Video:

With his self-assured intensity and versatile rhythmic dexterity, Trapland Pat is quickly moving up the ranks of rap stardom. Offering a taste of his candid capabilities, Pat shares his 4 Shooters Only-exclusive live performance of “Cappin,” the latest glimpse into his upcoming project, Trapnificent, coming soon via Bang Biz Ent./Alamo Records.

Reconnecting with frequent collaborator PepperJack Zoe, who produced recent singles like “Losses” and “Trap Dance,” the track finds Pat setting the record straight on his recent success and how the money didn’t change him half as much as it did the clout chasers that now surround him. Yet, with his undeniable appeal and the talent to back it up, Pat is keenly aware of his strengths as well as his value: “They don’t see the pain from this s***, just the glory/Drew this up from scratch, I get to venting ‘bout my story/Engineers feel my pain, that’s why they all tryna record me/My mouth costs your life, think twice, could you afford me?” Shot on the streets of Miami and showing off Pat’s wide-eyed charisma, ”Cappin” arrives as part of 4 Shooters Only’s “From The Block” series.

Raised in a strict Haitian household in Deerfield Beach, FL, Trapland Pat took it upon himself to escape his rough circumstances by any means necessary. When his football dreams came crashing to a halt after his scholarship to Indiana State was revoked, Pat threw himself into rap music. Inspired by his brother’s habit of freestyling, Pat realized he had serious talent, and spent his spare time refining his wordplay and songwriting. He made a name for himself in the south with mixtapes like Exit 41 and Pak Man, eventually earning the attention of Fredo Bang, who signed him to his Bang Biz imprint, in partnership with Alamo Records.

2021 was a huge year for the young rapper, heralded by his single “Big Business.” Dominated by a simple, but infectious piano riff, “Big Business” showcased the rapper’s rare charisma, generating over 5 million combined streams and earning praise from Passion of the Weiss, who recently placed the song at #18 on its list of Best Rap Songs of 2021.

Paper Route Woo Stacks Up Profits for Posterity in New Video

    The Video:

With the money on his mind and his family by his side, Paper Route Woo is firmly rooted in the city of Memphis. Returning to share his new video for “Made It Happen,” Paper Route Woo showcases the street smarts and hustle that endeared him to Young Dolph, who hand-picked him for Paper Route Empire. The track sees the Grind City native derive money motivation from his family’s future: “Rapping got me turnt but being a daddy made it happen/Fell in love with trapping, getting money with a passion.”

Arriving ahead of Boyz In The Hood, his upcoming joint mixtape with labelmate Snupe Bandz, the video marks Paper Route Woo’s first release since “Fully Equipt,” his contribution to the Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph compilation tape. Last year, Woo connected twice with Young Dolph on “Ricky” and “Nothing To Me” from the PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi tape, and this year, the artist continues to fulfill Dolph’s vision along with the rest of his PRE labelmatess.

    The Song:

Setting trends on SoundCloud with his demonic and angelic energy, 18-year-old rapper Suigeneris makes being a rap prodigy look easy. Revealing that he can make a banger using only the most basic ingredients, Suie shares “Song,” his latest release. Rampaging atop a manic instrumental, produced by Cxdy of Internet Money, Suie gives a masterclass in song structure, reeling off reckless bars and only pausing for the most rudimentary hook: “Now here’s the f*cking hook,” he growls at the appropriate time. Though he came up off the strength of his melodies, Suie has been on a mission to prove that he can spit better than anyone his age or older. The video finds the Mexican-American Suie expressing his distaste for Chipotle before delivering his lyrics directly into the camera, which shakes and vibrates in response to his energy. “Song” follows in the wake of “Down,” a soul-sampling SoundCloud single released in collaboration with fellow teen titan yvngxchris, which peaked at #12 on SoundCloud’s New & Hot chart.

    The Background:

His 2019 mixtape Suinami earned more than 15 million streams on Spotify alone, and 20 million across all platforms. Now 16, and with over 415k monthly listeners on Spotify, Suie is preparing to release Demons N Angels, a double EP that comments on his dual nature–Romeo and Damien, singer and rapper.

    The Background:

The East Memphis Emcee Re-Introduces Himself on “I’m The One

The Follow-Up to 2020’s Acclaimed Eat Or Get Ate, the Upcoming East Haiti Baby Shows Off Big Moochie’s Flashy Flows and Raw Lyricism As He Tells His Origin Story

    The Announcement + Video:

Coming out of East Memphis with a chip on his shoulder, Big Moochie Grape thrills listeners with flashy flexes and tongue-twisting flows. Proudly standing up for his hometown as he revels in his new life as a Paper Route Empire rising star, Big Moochie Grape announces East Haiti Baby, his next mixtape. Aided by signature Tennessee-style production from Bandplay and others, East Haiti Baby chronicles Moochie’s rise from the trap to the top, showcasing the street acumen and sly grin that endeared him to Young Dolph, who handpicked him for his label. Continuing a dominant year for Paper Route Empire as they honor Dolph’s legacy, East Haiti Baby arrives on May 27th via Paper Route Empire.

Along with the announcement of the tape, Moochie shares “I’m The One,” his new video single. Arriving in the wake of “In Dolph We Trust” (1.3 million views), the PRE signee’s contribution to the Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph compilation tape, “I’m The One” marks Moochie’s first single from the upcoming East Haiti Baby. Though the East Memphis rapper needs no introduction, the explosive track sees Moochie reminding fans, critics, and opps who he is and what he’s capable of in his own inventive grammar: “Saw your b**** and now she tooken, she call me good lookin’.” In the video, Moochie heads to the ink shop to get a new tat before crashing at his crib with a trip of the city’s baddest. Even amidst his high-flying lifestyle, Moochie still finds time to take advice from his grandma.

Big Moochie Grape burst onto the scene with Eat Or Get Ate, an hard-hitting EP that earned coverage in XXL, UPROXX, 2DopeBoyz, HotNewHipHop, and more. Home to singles like “Big Juice” and “Uh Huh Uh Huh Uh Huh” (4.4 million views), Eat Or Get Ate established Moochie as one of PRE’s most valuable players. The rapper returned with a vengeance on Paper Route Empire’s PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi mixtape, turning in highlight tracks like “Illuminati Business” and “Non Stop” (1.2 million views).

With East Haiti Baby on the way, Big Moochie Grape is determined to hit it big and keep Paper Route Empire’s winning streak going. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

Jay Fizzle Conducts “Paper Route Bidness” in a Icy New Video

  • Press Release

Jay Fizzle Conducts “Paper Route Bidness” in a Icy New Video

    5.9.2022

Video: Jay Fizzle – “Paper Route Bidness

PRE’s Longest-Tenured Artist Pledges Allegiance to the Winning Team in His New Video

    The Video:

“Fizzle is hungry and a hard worker and he represents the youth in Memphis. He’s a reflection of how the new generation act, talk, and walk. Memphis is a trendsetting city. Everything from our slang, our personalities, the way we run the streets, our music, it always becomes popular in a few years.” – Young Dolph

With a deep Memphis drawl and a bottomless arsenal of bars, Paper Route Empire rapper Jay Fizzle always stays true to his set. Donning a bright orange vest as he shows us how he and his brethren handle their affairs, Fizzle shares Paper Route Bidness,” his new music video. Running roughshod over an apocalyptic trap instrumental from Memphis’s own Ayoza, Fizzle fits his tumbling flow between snapping snares, energetically listing some of his favorite (dirt bikes, Backwoods, rocks that “dance like background dancers”) and least favorite things (broke opps, internet thugs). In the video, directed by Paper Route Pictures, Fizzle rocks his PRE and Donatello chains as he shows off his jet black Jeep and rhymes from the inside of an igloo. “Paper Route Bidness” is the latest in a long line of strong visuals leading up to DonnaFizzle, a new project coming soon via Paper Route Empire.

The mission statement “Paper Route Bidness” is only the latest release to show off Fizzle’s flexible flow. The rapper shared Zaba Freestyle,” an ode to his exotic with a deliriously funky bass sounds, which followed in the wake of “4 HOS,” a Bandplay-produced banger that racked up over 545k views on YouTube. Fizzle opened the year with a star turn on “LLD,” a heartfelt tribute to his mentor Young Dolph. dorned with lush harmonies and a star vocal turn from Ricco Barrino, “Long Live Dolph” finds Jay Fizzle baring his soul, the South Memphis native audibly emotional when he relays his gratitude to his mentor for teaching him everything he knows. With over 1.5 million views on YouTube, “LLD” is the opening track from Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, a compilation album from the independent label, which features appearances from nearly every artist on PRE, including Key GlockBig Moochie GrapeKenny Muney and more.

Long Live Dolph is reflective, but it is also triumphant; Paper Route Empire will continue building on the foundation that Dolph laid. Keep an eye on the young and hungry PRE roster, as nearly every one of them plans to drop plenty of music this year. Already, the year brought Time Is Muney, a new project by Kenny Muney, and Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe), an expansion of Key Glock’s Billboard Top 10-charting Yellow Tape 2. With DonnaFizzle and much more on the way, including Big Moochie Grape‘s upcoming East Haiti Baby mixtape, 2022 is Paper Route Szn.
