The Background:

The Homies, comprised of multi-talented individuals with a unique sound and perspective, are a budding Hip-Hop group based out of Louisville, KY. Part of the Private Garden collective, a group of Kentucky creatives co-created by Grammy Nominated artist Jack Harlow, The Homies consists of Quiiso, Shloob, Ace Pro, and 2forwOyNE. The group prides themselves for being a creative force, producing all their music in-house, as well as their creative direction.

Formed in Louisville out of a shared passion for music and creativity, The Homies have earned high-profile co-signs, earning praise from iconic DJs DJ Drama and Don Cannon, and opening on tour for artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Bryson Tiller, and Waka Flocka Flame. Hailing from Kankakee, IL, armed with a street-sharpened pen and trap-happy rasp, Doodie Lo has the boss mentality to run the game and the muscle to maintain his top spot. With all his good, bad, and ugly intentions on display, the Only The Family rapper shares his new video single, “I Swear To God.” The track finds Doodie delivering more promises than a campaigning politician. Unlike those politicians, Doodie proves that he plans to keep his word, as he punctuates each pledge with footnotes of street knowledge: “I swear to God, watch that back door/Gotta keep your gun on you, Tell me that you love me, sh*t, I act slow.”

A Jerry Production, the video for “I Swear To God” is an OTF affair through and through. Lil Durk makes an appearance to giddily count cash and turn up with Doodie in hallways, parking garages, streets, and studios. With his tireless drive for getting to the loot and natural talent for flexing his spoils, Key Glock was bound to make it by any means necessary. Returning to celebrate his rags-to-riches story, the Paper Route Empire artist shares his new video single, “From Nothing.” The track’s bouncy instrumental provides a sense of sunny summer relaxation, setting the stage for Glock to recount the mindset that led to a life of luxury: “It’s not a secret, I got it on me/F***ed around, spent like $3 million in bling/I know I’m humble, it’s not what it seems/But f*** everybody, I’m all ‘bout my cream.”

The “From Nothing” video finds Glock at a sunny seaside getaway in Catalonia, Spain, though the clip makes it clear that this isn’t a vacation. A talented teenager with a lush and velvety voice, Rich Amiri is primed to take over the game. Sharing a new duet with a fellow riser, Amiri turns up in Texas in “Feelings,” his new music video from his For The Better project. Belting over bouncing 808s, Amiri stretches syllables like taffy as he explains the mixed emotions that come from newfound fame–from hangers-on asking for favors to increased attention from the fairer sex. Bonita Appleblunt is a DJ and Audio Pro, originally from Ohio, currently working and making soundwaves in Chicago. They are the resident DJ for AMFM, where they got their start DJing at AMFM’s monthly music and art showcase The Jazz Series. They have played at numerous locations around Chicago including The Promontory, SOHO House, and The Empty Bottle, among many other spots around the city. They specialize in exploring the lineage and inspiration of modern and underground music genres with their African roots.

Brian Henry, formerly known as DJ B-Hen, is revered as one of America’s hottest DJ talents. After honing his musical skills at Scratch DJ Academy, he displayed undeniable showmanship as a standout contestant on VH1’s premier DJ competition show: Master of the Mix. His unique style and relentless hustle have led him to living rooms across America as a resident DJ on ABC’s Good Morning America. With an unassuming aesthetic and a flow for any occasion, Lou Phelps approaches music with an effortlessness that seems to be second nature. Today, the Montreal-native innovator moves with the music in his new video for “Here We Go,” the lead single from Touché, his recent EP. “Here We Go” marked Lou’s first self-produced release, with the other two songs on the EP featuring production from his older brother, KAYTRANADA.

“I produced it, I arranged it, and I delivered the performance. It’s all me. It feels like I have a baby,” says Lou Phelps.

Like the track itself, the video for “Here We Go” is all Lou. Directed by Igal Perets, the clip opens with its most organic image, with Lou taking a seat on a dimly lit black soundstage. As the track begins, the camera slowly zooms in on Lou rapping the tracks opening bars as he’s circled seductively by a black-clad woman. When the beat begins to build and the visual fades to black, any sense of place and context dissipates. All that’s left is Lou and the music, and as he locks onto the atmospheric complexities of the instrumental with his dextrous flow, the subtle visual grows increasingly abstract, with hypnotic reconstructions of the same simple elements.

Touché is Lou’s first release with Rostrum Records, and is released in conjunction with Stand Up Guy Records, a new imprint founded by KAYTRANADA, of which Lou is partner. The follow-up to 2020’s Extra Extra project, and to “Sound Of Money,” Lou’s recent collaboration with Madlib, Touché EP is a turning point for the young rapper as he looks to expand his empire from his MTL hometown to the rest of the world, Touché is available everywhere via Rostrum Records/Stand Up Guy Records.

Ace Hood has had a busy 2022 so far, and he’s far from done. Most recently, he shared “Energy,” the first single from his upcoming B.O.D.Y. EP. Highlighted by fresh flows that float over the airy instrumental’s booming bass with a renewed sense of drive, the track finds Ace comfortably adorning his crown: “Heads up, the king is here in my ride/When it’s right on time and if you do not mind/I’d like a glass of Prosecco wine, I’m with the queen bout to get offline/Wait, scratch that.” The upcoming B.O.D.Y. EP reflects Ace’s dedication to improve himself through physical activity, as he explained to Men’s Health in a recent edition of Train Like.

B.O.D.Y. continues a series of EPs that started with M.I.N.D EP. Released this spring, M.I.N.D. marked a fresh, new start for Ace. The EP was animated by a clear social message that dissected the mentality required to triumph over personal and generational trauma. The Background:

Vezzo’s new deal with Quality Control marks the start of an exciting new period of success for the budding superstar. Consistently racking up more than 4 million streams on his catalog per week, Vezzo’s ambitions reach far beyond music, and even beyond the physical realm. Respected from The A to The Bay and everywhere in between, Icewear Vezzo helped build the Detroit rap scene into the flourishing behemoth it is today. Since releasing his first mixtape The Clarity in 2013, Vezzo built a large and loyal fanbase in The Mitten and beyond, feeding the streets and his 131k YouTube subscribers with high-quality releases and representing for Detroit on tracks by Big Sean, G Herbo, Drakeo The Ruler, DJ Mustard, Zaytoven, and many others. The 31-year-old artist frequently collaborates with other major figures in the Detroit scene, including Peezy and Babyface Ray, who he featured on his street hit –in just the past two years, Vezzo made waves with songs like “Meg Thee Stallion” ft. Babyface Ray, GT & Veeze (7.8 million YouTube views. named one of the Best Songs of 2020 by Passion Of The Weiss), “The Sit-Down” ft. Babyface Ray (6.2 million views), and “Dog Action” ft. Rio Da Yung OG (10 million YouTube views).

In addition to his heavy stature in the rap game, Vezzo makes moves as an entrepreneur in multiple industries. He’s the owner of his own label Iced Up Records, recently launched the Iced Up Films, a production company whose first film Price Of Love (starring Vezzo himself) is available for rent on Amazon, and is the CEO of his own clothing company Drank God Clothing.
