DUSTY LOCANE & Kajun Waters Keep Their Cool on ‘-95 DEGREES’ EP

  • Press Release

DUSTY LOCANE & Kajun Waters Keep Their Cool on ‘-95 DEGREES’ EP

    1.5.2023

EP: DUSTY LOCANE & Kajun Waters – -95 DEGREES

The Canarsie Capo Teams with Frequent Collaborator Kajun Waters of his 95MM Crew for 7 Tracks on New EP

    Critical Praise:

“A rumbling voice that could be picked up on a seismograph” – Pitchfork

“He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with, and he knows it.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“…hard-hitting rhymes that will surely be heard blaring over car stereos in Brooklyn.” – HotNewHipHop

    The EP:

With a tireless hustle and resonant roar, DUSTY LOCANE doesn’t take time off. Reconnecting with rapper-producer Kajun Waters, the 95MM Crew collaborators share -95 DEGREES, their new EP. The 7-track effort, which includes a remix of the recent video single, “CHEVELLE,” meshes DUSTY’s gravelly basso voice with Kajun’s striking tenor melodies like thunder and lightning.

Bolstered by Kajun’s vibrant drill production, a staple of DUSTY’s loaded discography in recent months, -95 DEGREES benefits from the natural chemistry the artists share. On “SEARCHING,” the duo lurks over sliding 808s and a warbling instrumental melody, ready to strike their target at any moment. Cuts like “FAITH IN ME (NINI),” anchored by the vibrant flair of Latin guitar melodies, show the collaborators’ versatility, trading their bossed up tough talk for seductive pleas.

-95 DEGREES arrives hot on the heels of December’s CATCH DA FLU, a ferocious EP, home to soul-baring tracks like “TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS” and “MY WAY,” and NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH, a sinister project that dropped on Halloween. The tape continues to cement the Canarsie native’s chokehold on the Brooklyn drill scene, while also taking the time to showcase the talents of DUSTY’s 95MM crew, including 3KizzyKajun WatersSFIV5Stelly Hundo, and OMB Jay Dee. Home to highlights like “PRESSURE” and “FLU GANG,” and the buzzing single “ROLANDO 2 (Catch The Rain)” (1.1 million views in 2 weeks), NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH is available everywhere via EMPIRE.

Though he’s stepping away from the game for a while, DUSTY doesn’t see his situation as a setback–he’ll be back soon enough, focused and stronger than ever, as he continues his mission to elevate to A-List status.

“WHAT DON’T KILL ME MAKES ME 95 TIMES STRONGER,” said DUSTY on Instagram. “TO ALL MY REAL SUPPORTERS AND FANS ITS MORE ON DA WAY VERY SOON‼️”

Baby Stone Gorillas Announce ‘The Military’ Mixtape, Drop the Top in “WOP” Video

    1.6.2023

Baby Stone Gorillas Announce The Military, Their Next Mixtape, Coming February 10th via EMPIRE

The Four Man L.A. Crew Shares the Brand New Video for “WOP

Fresh Out Of The Jungles in South L.A., Cali’s Hottest Rap Group, Comprised of Top5ivee, P4K, 5Much, and EKillaOffDaBlocck, Prepares For a 2023 Takeover

    Critical Praise:

“…They pass the baton with an uncanny chemistry.” – The Los Angeles Times, The 100 Best Songs of 2022

“The South East L.A. crew are having one of those runs where a regional rapper or group just break off hit after hit.” – Pitchfork

“Over the last year, the four childhood friends turned rappers have released a string of steadily improving and increasingly popular singles, the cumulative millions of music video views all culminating in “Keep Goin” and the other 22 songs on the group’s debut, BABYST5XNE GORILLAS (Baby Stone Gorillas / EMPIRE). They have the potential to be the biggest rappers to emerge from the Baldwin Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, the gang-heavy and palm-tree-lined community that locals know by its foliage-inspired and far more evocative nickname: the Jungles.” – SPIN

“Baby Stone Gorillas have been on an impeccable run as of late, matching consistent releases with a deeply unique sense of artistry that only improves and expands with each new release” – Lyrical Lemonade

“Youthful and fiery, BSG continues to witness their sound sweep over Southern California and are poised to break across the map.” – Our Generation Music

Ping-ponging off one another with complementary styles and electric chemistry, Baby Stone Gorillas are heating up the L.A. scene with their searing street raps. Plotting the next step in their conquest of the rap game, BSG announces The Military, their next mixtape. Spanning 23 tracks, the next mixtape refines the group’s hard-hitting West Coast sound, its glossy textures, funk-forward rhythms, and boosted bass adding emphasis to quartet’s raw lyricism. The only voices you’ll hear on the album belong to the Gorillas themselves–Top5iveeP4K5Much, and EKillaOffDaBlocck–who shoulder the full trackload without outside features. With contributions from West Coast sound architect like RonRonTheProducerJuneonnabeat, and more, The Military releases on February 10th via Park Money Records / EMPIRE.

Along with the announcement of the mixtape, the four-man squad shares WOP,” an effortlessly funky new single from the project. A slinky slapper produced by PRODUCER, “WOP” finds the four-man wrecking crew flaunting their signature styles over booming 808s and spritely synth melodies. 5Much delivers the infectious chorus with slurred syllables, EKillaOffDaBlocck takes the first verse with his high-energy flow, and P4K and Top5ivee tag team the final verse with brutally blasé bars. In the video, the Gorillas post up under palm trees in their L.A. neighborhood Baldwin Village, better known as “The Jungle,” before they head to a neon-lit soundstage and flash their hard-earned bands.

The four members of Baby Stone Gorillas have known each other since they were 10-years-old, and were friends far before they dreamed of music stardom. The rappers have distinct styles and roles: 5Much brings a hustler’s mentality and vents about his life, while EK packs the energy. P4K is the proud instigator known for slick-talking raps, while Top5ivee often comes up with B.S.G.’s catchy hooks. Last summer, the group’s self-titled video racked up views in the millions, precipitating a winning streak of viral singles that included the Pitchforkapproved Military,” which earned airplay on Drake’s OVOSound Radio, and Untouchable” ft. RJMrLA, catching the attention of Shaquille O’Neal. The group made a major impact with their debut mixtape BABYST5XNE GORILLAS, released in March 2022, which earned praise from PitchforkSPINAudiomack, and many others, and featured “Keep Goin,” which The Los Angeles Times named one of the 100 Best Songs of 2022.

With The Military on the way and much further to rise, the Baby Stone Gorillas are on a mission to prove they’re the realest in L.A. Stay tuned for much more.

    The Background:

“You can go and listen to damn near 50 people outta L.A., period, but you’ll notice that we’ve got a different sound,” proclaims Baby Stone Gorillas member EKillaOffDaBlocck. E.K., along with group-mates Top5ivee, P4K, 5Much are creating some of the most original music out of the West Coast. From Baldwin Villages, better known as “The Jungles,” this talented quartet blends elements of their street surroundings with imagination, humor, and a will to stand out. In 2021, videos like their introductory “STL Caps & Jay Hats,” “Baby Stone Gorillas,” and the charged-up “Military” made a powerful impression and garnered several million streams. By the end of 2021, OVORadio played music from Baby Stone Gorillas while Shaq reposted a video. Now, B.S.G. readies a 23-track mixtape that features 1takejay, Bla$ta, Band Gang Lonnie Bands, and Wallie the Sensei. “If we don’t capitalize on this moment right now, there’s no other time,” urges P4K. “That’s how we’re treating it: If we don’t do it now, it’s never.”

  • Press Release

ICYMI: Ice Spice Continues Hot Streak with “In Ha Mood,” Out Now On All DSPs

    1.6.2023

Ice Spice Officially Releases “In Ha Mood” on All Platforms

Originally Released Over The Holidays, The Bronx Baddie’s Third Straight Viral Hit Continues Her Run as One of the Biggest Breakout Stars in Rap Music

    Critical Praise:

“In a frenzied genre, she’s a calm rapper, which is part of what makes this song so frosty — the beat is skittish and portentous, but Ice Spice sounds at peace. She’s rhyming quickly, but also calmly and slightly dismissively, probably because of the subject matter. That would be a man who might be useful in some ways, but is easily dismissed — someone who’s on call, but barely needed. He’s good at one thing, and when that’s done, not much else — he’s a munch. Get used to saying it.” – The New York Times

“Ice Spice knows how to create a mood” – Pitchfork – Meet five women breathing new life into New York drill

“Drill in New York City has been waiting for Ice Spice, the blasé Bronx rapper who can’t be bothered” – NPR

“She knows exactly how and where to exhale her rhymes into drill music’s sleek architecture, offering a breathy human counterpoint to the alien bass lines, the glitchy hi-hats, the antiseptic synth melodies that tend to hide out in the corner.” – The Washington Post

    The Song:

Making waves with her sly grin and quotable bars, Ice Spice was one of the biggest breakout stars of 2022. Kicking off the New Year, Ice Spice officially drops “In Ha Mood” on all DSPs. Originally released on SoundCloud over the holidays, to the tune of 2.2 million plays, the RIOTUSA-produced “In Ha Mood” is Ice’s third straight single to earn viral traction on social media–the snippet generated over 70k video creations and 13.6 million views on TikTok.

“In Ha Mood” is the first single to emerge in the wake of Ice Spice’s massive year. In August, the newly-turned 23-year-old artist shared Munch (Feelin U),” the runaway hit that helped turn Ice Spice into one of the hottest risers in hip-hop. “Munch” earned universal critical acclaim, earning “Best Song of the Year” mentions in publications like The New York TimesPitchforkRolling StoneBillboardNPRThe Washington Post, and many, many others. Ice Spice followed up “Munch” with the viral single Bikini Bottom,” which earned over 13 million Spotify streams and over 130k TikTok creations.

In just a few short months, Ice Spice established herself as one of the most notable names in the rap game.  As she continues to release music, it becomes clearer and clearer: Ice Spice is gonna be a fixture in the music world for many years to come.

    More Praise:

“Setting trails ablaze as a powerful female figure in a male-dominated subculture, Bronx-made artist Ice Spice hit the New York drill scene with buzzworthy cuts like ‘Bully Freestyle’ and ‘Euphoric.’ … the 22-year-old has become synonymous with razor-sharp bars, in-your-face delivery, and ominous beats.” – Pigeons & Planes

“Ice Spice simply has all the tools for success and knows how to use them…The 22-year-old pairs her appearance with the cleanest and catchiest production coming out of the Bronx, grabbing listeners’ attention before she even speaks” –DJ Booth

“Her presence is strong and steadfast without having to scream or degrade her way into making a point or getting people moving….abundantly clear that Ice Spice will be one of the next big names to pop from New York City” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Background:

“You thought I was feelin’ you?

It’s become the line heard all across social media, fueled by Bronx rapper/singer Ice Spice. The 22-year-old rising star first posed that question on her viral hit “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and it’s been up ever since. The song has since surfed the airwaves of streaming platforms and even TikTok, boosted by a cosign from Drake and armed with a video that adds colorful visuals to this Drill anthem. While Ice Spice is steadily soaring up the ranks as the First Lady of Bronx Drill, she has much more in store—transcending genres and moving from New York City onto the rest of the world.

Ice Spice’s road to stardom accelerated with “Munch,” but she’s been buzzing in NYC for a long time. She first gained attention with with No Clarity,” a bite-sized banger that decries the lack of communication in a relationship, and the soul-sampling Name Of Love, which Ebro featured as his “discovery of the day” on Apple Music Radio. The belle of the Bronx earned even more notoriety when she hopped on Power 105’s On The Radar, delivering a freestyle that earned praise from Lyrical Lemonade, Pitchfork, who later named her one of Five Women Breathing Life Into New York Drill,” and Audiomack, who crowned her one of the 10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now” for June 2022. In October, Ice earned Hip-Hop Rookie Of The Month honors from Billboard.

CEO Trayle Meets His Match in “Alter Ego 2” Video

  • Press Release

CEO Trayle Meets His Match in “Alter Ego 2” Video

    1.4.2023

Video: CEO Trayle – “Alter Ego 2

The Atlanta-Based Rhymer Dramatizes His Inner Conflict in the Latest Video from the Acclaimed HH5 Mixtape

    Critical Praise:

“The fifth installment of CEO Trayle’s Happy Halloween series unspools the rapper’s fears and sorrows into one of the most original rap albums of the year.” – Pitchfork

“So many rappers stay in one gear for an entire song, but Trayle’s music constantly shifts the rhythm, keeping your ears perked so you don’t get lost as he speeds up. He goes from biting punched-in threats and making singsong taunts to an ominous, slithery flow that leaves you looking behind your shoulder to make sure he isn’t talking about kicking in your backdoor.”  – Pitchfork

“The hunger in his rapping turns every song into a boxing ring to prove himself victorious.” – The FADER

“Atlanta’s CEO Trayle is going hard in 2022. The rapper’s earned quite the reputation in the rap game over the past few years. Projects like the Happy Halloween series have cemented him as the one to look out for. “ – HotNewHipHop

“On his recent single, “OK Cool,” Trayle takes a conversational approach, making it clear that—no matter what anyone else in his life is on—he’s still up.” – Audiomack

    The Video:

CEO Trayle’s twisty and conversational flow helps him stand apart in the street rap game. Turning his focus inward as he spars with his split personality, Trayle shares the video for Alter Ego 2,” a tête a tête with C4, named as one of the 43 Best Rap Songs of 2022 by Pitchfork. With a sinuous beat produced by OG Parker, Beezo, DreGotJuice & Carson Hackney, “Alter Ego 2” interrogates Trayle’s conflicted mindset. Trayle attempts to better his life through his music, focusing on the positives as he raises his profile, while C4 attempts to drag him back into the streets, unable to shake the paranoia that accompanies the hustler lifestyle. “I know you shellshocked, b*tch, but everybody ain’t no enemy,” Trayle says, but an unconvinced C4 replies: “Whenever we do, n**** start to envy me/I done gave n*****s all the sympathy.”

Directed by AZae Production, the video uses camera trickery to dramatize the conversation between the song’s two characters. Dressed in all black, C4 smirks and counts his cash, while the orange-clad Trayle attempts to resist his charms and keep his life on the straight-and-narrow. “Alter Ego 2” is one of the key tracks from HH5Trayle’s most recent mixtape.

Acclaimed by Pitchfork, who gave the mixtape its coveted Best New Music designation, HH5 establishes Trayle as one of the slickest talkers in a stacked ATL scene, twirling his soft-spoken and erudite delivery like a cartoon villain twirls his mustache. Creeping over instrumentals like Freddy Kreuger slips through subconsciouses, Trayle juxtaposes his sly wit with moments of pathos, toeing the line expertly on tape highlights like “We So Young” and “Took Some Time.” HH5 features some of Trayle’s most expansive production to date, with contributions from Dun DealOG ParkerGo GrizzlyTrauma Tone, and Trayle’s frequent collaborator Stribb, among many others. Home to standout singles like “Chokehold” and the complicated relationship anthem “I Love You But…, featured on Drake’s OVO Sound RadioHH5 is available everywhere via Do What You Love/10K Projects.

HH5 was the crowning achievement in a breakout year for CEO Trayle. Capitalizing on the momentum of Trayle’s viral 2021 hit “Ok Cool,” which generated over 60 million streams and earned a remix from Gunna, 2022 saw the release of Vier, a four-track EP released in July alongside a Q&A with The FADER, and the 8-song mixtape The Collection, home to highlights like “Of Course,” the tape’s closing track. Trayle made a splash in Fall 2022 with his From The Block freestyle, where he performed his song “Song Cry,” which racked up over nearly 2 million views on YouTube.

With HH5 in the books and much more music to come, CEO Trayle is primed to take over the rap game.

    The Background:

CEO Trayle has a rare sense of vision. The prolific Atlanta-based rapper and CEO/founder of 1080 Trademark Records sees the music industry the way a great point guard does a basketball court. He understands cause-and-effect, knowing how dropping one frosty, minimalist single will shape the perception around his next project. But occasionally he exceeds even his own expectations. His breakout single, “OK Cool,” a deadpan rebuke to an ex, earned more than 60 million streams, even though Trayle didn’t foresee it as a blockbuster when he made it. The momentum from that track, and its Gunna-assisted remix, paved the way for The Collection, a thrilling, visceral release that showcases the 28-year-old MC’s multi-genre fluency.

DUSTY LOCANE and the Money Go “WAY BACC”

  • Press Release

DUSTY LOCANE and the Money Go “WAY BACC”

    12.22.2022

Video: DUSTY LOCANE – “WAY BACC

The 95MM Head Honcho Keeps the Ladies Close and Snakes Closer in New Video from NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH

    The Video:

DUSTY LOCANE attacks each bar of an instrumental with his resonant, rumbling roar. Today, the Canarsie shot-caller takes a rewind, sharing “WAY BACC,” a hair-raising new video. Launching his commanding presence onto a Kajun Waters-produced instrumental marked by explosive sliding 808s and a haunting horn melody, DUSTY lets his opps know he’s ready to clash: “You wanna drill or be a rapper?/Drifting in both lanes, now they merging.”

The video for “WAY BACC” is a cinematic demonstration of the stature required to pull strings in the streets. Surrounded by bikini-clad baddies in a spotless luxury house, DUSTY lounges by the water, but it’s the unfortunate fools who swim with the sharks that end up sleeping with the fishes. He keeps his ladies at his side throughout the video, but when a briefcase is delivered with a snake inside, he’s more attentive than ever– a necessary skill for a highroller of his caliber.

“WAY BACC” is a highlight from NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH, a sinister project that dropped on Halloween. The new tape continues to cement the Canarsie native’s chokehold on the Brooklyn drill scene, while also taking the time to showcase the talents of DUSTY’s 95MM crew, including 3KizzyKajun Waters, who recently teamed with DUSTY for the new banger “Chevelle,” SFIV5Stelly Hundo, and OMB Jay Dee. Home to highlights like PRESSURE” and FLU GANG,” and the buzzing single ROLANDO 2 (Catch The Rain)” (1.1 million views in 2 weeks), NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH is available everywhere via EMPIRE.

Though he’s stepping away from the game for a while, DUSTY doesn’t see his situation as a setback–he’ll be back soon enough, focused and stronger than ever, as he continues his mission to elevate to A-List status.

Jay Critch Plays By His Own Rules in “Cheating Freestyle”

  • Press Release

Jay Critch Plays By His Own Rules in “Cheating Freestyle”

    12.22.2022

Video: Jay Critch – “Cheating Freestyle

The Brooklyn Rhymer Continues His Run of Fiery New Releases, Explaining Why He Wins In His High-Rolling New Video

    Critical Praise:

“Jay Critch is the new New York”– The FADER

“Since last summer, he’s kept his foot on the pedal with a slew of new releases, and those efforts seemingly ramped up even more since the top of the year.” – HotNewHipHop

“Jay Critch is naturally gifted” – Rap Radar

    The Video:

Gliding over tracks with an effortless suavity and an NYC attitude, Jay Critch is a man on a mission. Revealing his blueprint for success, the Clinton Hill native shares Cheating Freestyle,” his new video single. Produced by fellow NYC natives Chulo and Rambow, “Cheating” excels with the interplay between the floating synth melodies and booming 808s, providing a perfect platform for Jay to talk his smack. Leaning into the bruising bravado of his Brooklyn brogue, Critch methodically and colorfully proves why he’s the man in his city: “I’m scorin’, they think that I’m cheatin’/I cut her off, she think that I’m cheatin’/I bring the strap for no reason/I brought two choppas, one Kel and one Kenan.” Directed by Rich Porter, the video gives a glimpse into Critch’s high rolling lifestyle in New York City, filled with diamond-studded watches, high-powered cars, and beautiful women.

“Cheating Freestyle” continues a high-quality run of singles from the 24-year-old Brooklyn rapper. Most recently, Critch showed us how he lives with the Afro-inflected party anthem  Up All Night.” In September, he reconnected with his mentor and frequent collaborator Rich The Kid for only the second time since 2019 with his single Lefty” (over 1 million views). In August, Critch shared the beat-shifting banger Close To Me/Active,” combining two hard-hitting songs into one and proving why he remains Brooklyn’s big dog. Earlier this year, Critch connected with Harry Fraud for the airy, REVOLT-praised “Born With It.”

Since he burst onto the scene as a teenager with singles like “Ad Libs” and the beloved Hood Favorite mixtape, Jay Critch has been one of New York’s favorite sons. His collaborations with Rich The Kid and Famous Dex on the Rich Forever mixtape series remain the stuff of legend, but he hasn’t stopped switching up his style or releasing new heat for the streets. His 23-track 2021 effort Critch Tape found the artist expanding his sound to absorb drill and other prevailing street styles. The tape featured collaborations with fellow New Yorkers Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay, as well as influential figures Skillibeng and Drakeo The Ruler. Critch recently expanded his CV to include modeling, as he modeled for the Kors x Ellesse campaign alongside Emily Ratajkowski earlier this year.

Currently hard at work on Jugg Season, his upcoming follow-up to Critch Tape, the Clinton Hill colossus prepares to resume his Five Borough takeover. Stay tuned for much more.

    The Background:

Jay Critch may very well be the answer to New York’s calls for representation in the rap game. As a young kid, Jay Critch was fascinated by his older brother’s music. Listening to his brother rap, Critch began to eventually do the same. Born in 1998 in Clinton Hill, Critch wrote raps at a young age, but wasn’t recording until he was of preteen age. Rappers such as Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and Max B dominated Critch’s listening habits and became major influences in his own music career.

Serato’s Stems Poised to Change Sampling and Production Forever

  • Press Release

Serato’s Stems Poised to Change Sampling and Production Forever

    12.19.2022

Serato Launches Stems, Its Revolutionary Technology

The World’s Best DJ and Music Production Software Gets Even Better with the Addition of Instant Stem-Separation Technology, Making It Easier Than Ever to Create, Remix, and Sample Music

    Artist Quotes:

“There have been certain groundbreaking things that have changed the art of DJing: The invention of Serato; not having to carry records; the invention of Phase; not having to worry about vibration in a live setting. I think Serato Stems will be bigger than all of them from a creative standpoint. This is about to be the most fun I’ve ever had DJing. I’m telling you, my brain is on fire!”DJ Jazzy Jeff

With this update, Serato Studio is the center of my universe. This is a big moment for music production.”Grammy-nominated Producer DJ Khalil

“Serato Stems… opens up parts of the track that were previously inaccessible to a DJ’s live creativity.”Skratch Bastid

    The Announcement:

Since creating its first game-changing software program in the 1990s–which could shift the tempo of a recording without changing the key–Serato has been at the vanguard of sonic expression and the gold standard for DJs and producers worldwide. Now a giant in the world of DJ technology and DAWs, Serato’s products have earned the distinction of consistently being best in class in terms of usability and sound quality. The team at Audible Treats is extremely excited to be working with Serato on their upcoming launches for 2023 and help them share their story with the masses.

Serato announced the launch of Serato DJ 3.0, which officially introduces their revolutionary Serato Stems feature. Stems allows DJs and producers to isolate four different audio stems for vocals, bass, drums, and melodies in real-time and control those stems independently while maintaining the most supreme audio quality in the game. In the past, isolating individual parts of a song for sampling was an arduous, if not impossible process that required countless hours and expert-level technical know-how. Serato has simplified the process, providing DJs with the ability to instantly access the vocals from their favorite RnB record or bassline from an iconic Afrobeats jam, and whatever else they desire.

To better understand the power of Stems, watch this DJ create a mix of “Thriller,” “Ghostbusters,” “Somebody’s Watching Me,” and the Stranger Things theme in real time, with no pre-production.

The beta-version release of Stems caused immediate buzz in the DJ community. Over 50,000 DJs from across the globe joined the beta testing period, contributing to over 1 million sessions to date and making it the most popular beta in Serato history. Now with the official release, DJs will be able to take their sets to the next level, creating their own unique sound with on-the-fly edits and smooth transitions made possible with Stems.

Also, Serato will launch Serato Studio 2.0, the fastest and most intuitive DAW for making beats, in early 2023. With Serato Stems inside Studio’s powerful sampler, the new audio separation technology will deliver infinite possibilities for sampling and unique sound creation. In seconds users can isolate samples, flip, layer, and chop with incredibly high sound quality, giving them the freedom to sample how they’ve always wanted to sample. “With this update, Serato Studio is the center of my universe. This is a big moment for music production,” says DJ Khalil who is nominated for two Grammys this year for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

“As a company of musicians, what makes Serato unique is our artist-centric approach to developing music technology,” says Nick Maclaren, Chief Strategy Officer at Serato“Our machine learning capabilities in particular are unlocking artists’ creative processes in ways that were previously impossible. Stems is really just the beginning for us.”

Watch world-renowned DJ and Producer Skratch Bastid demonstrate the power of Stems here.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Stems and Serato Studio 2.0 in the new year.

Trapland Pat Woos His Partner in a Seductive New Video

  • Press Release

Trapland Pat Woos His Partner in a Seductive New Video

    12.20.2022

    Video: Trapland Pat – “Woo

The Alamo/Bang Biz-Signed Broward County Native Spits Game and Facts in His Latest Music Video

    Critical Praise:

“He’s subtly melodic and catchy even outside of the hook. He does the beat justice by making what he grew up with into something new.” – Pitchfork

“”Big Business is the #18 Best Rap Song of 2021–If “Big Business” is any indication, Trapland Pat may well become South Florida’s next rap auteur. In less than two minutes, he deftly connects Broward County’s disparate styles, vibrating at his own zany frequency.” – Passion Of The Weiss

“10 New Miami Rappers To Watch…Trapland Pat is unlike any other act to come out of South Florida. Since 2019, Pat has consistently delivered grimy bars and smooth cadences over an array of trap beats. Over the past three years, the Deerfield Beach native has been feeding his growing fanbase with singles like “Emergency” and “Dealings,” along with four projects: Exit 41, Pak Man, Interstate Baby, and 2020 Vision. (The last two albums were released via Fredo Bang’s imprint Bang Biz Productions/Create Music Group.) In 2021, Trapland Pat dropped his latest project, Thru Da Door, via Bang Biz, featuring collaborations with Kuttem Reese and Members Only rapper Kid Trunks. He’s still pushing his latest single, ‘Boondocks,”‘which dropped last month. However, on Instagram, Pat celebrated the anniversary of his song ‘Big Business’ and teased a potential remix coming later this year.” – Miami New Times

“Over the course of the last few weeks perhaps no one else has hit the scene as hard as Pat…The Florida rapper raps with wide-eyed astonishment, seemingly at his own bars sometimes which become as animated as his facial expressions. To be honest, the sheer confidence Trapland Pat employs on the track here just makes you want to pay attention or risk missing out on something.” – ELEVATOR

    “Trapland Pat makes pretty music.”Stereogum

    The Video:

Mixing assonant rhymes and furtive flexes into suave South Florida jams, Trapland Pat is South Florida’s next to blow. The Deerfield Beach native works his magic on a potential partner in Woo,” his smoothly sensual new music video. Contrasting booming 808s with flashy flecks of guitar and rippling piano rolls, “Woo” finds Pat working an easygoing flow, taunting his opposition with boastful, yet blasé bars: “They be asking where that body at?/I was catching power players, where’s the lobby at?/Dog food, I can show you where the doggy at/That n**** tellin, how do they know just where they saw me at?” he croons. In the video, directed by Pat’s frequent accomplice ShotByJolo, Pat spends a romantic night at his mansion with a beautiful women, the former D-1-recruited athlete looking luxurious in his Versace robe and matching slippers.

“Woo” continues a hot streak of singles by the Broward County breakout, immediately following the videos for “Road 2 Riches,” “Z Land,” and “Vibes.” Pat made his mark earlier this year with the acclaimed Trapnificent mixtape. Pat’s first release for Bang Biz and Alamo Records, Trapnificent rolls out the red carpet for a tasteful selection of guests, including Fredo Bang, his Bang Biz boss who appears twice on the tape, Sacramento street hero Mozzy, NYC Winners Circle maestro Eli Fross, and Memphis’ own BIG30Trapnificent earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the project a “zippy distillation of his regional roots” and said that Pat’s music is “extremely regionally and culturally specific, like so much exciting and promising new rap music.”

Ready to build on his impressive 2022 and bring his searing street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be his state’s next big star.

Yella Beezy’s Flexes are Facts in His New “Bad Azz Yella Boy” Video

  • Press Release

Yella Beezy’s Flexes are Facts in His New “Bad Azz Yella Boy” Video

    12.19.2022

Video: Yella Beezy – “Bad Azz Yella Boy

The Dallas Heavy-Hitter Shares the Latest Video from His Bad Azz Yella Boy Mixtape, Released Earlier This Year

    Critical Praise:

“How Yella Beezy Scored a Number One Hit During the Summer of Drake” – Rolling Stone

“Yella makes rap that falls into the ever so-popular “melodic” description, but his flows and downright ability to spit set him apart from everyone else” – XXL

“Beezy brings the heat…In an era when hip hop artists are releasing albums where every song sounds pretty much the same, Yella Beezy has delivered a record that goes against the grain on his latest project, Baccend Beezy. The Southern rapper sticks to his roots as listeners can pick up influences from the region, but Beezy has a little bit of something for everyone on his latest mixtape. ” – HotNewHipHop

“He uses simple lyrics intelligently, with an infectious flow that would sound equally appropriate in a noisy nightclub or coming from a cell phone outside West End Station during rush hour.” – Dallas Observer

    The Video:

Yella Beezy‘s mix of bluesy melodies and spitfire rhymes helped him become a top dog in Dallas’s rap scene. Calmly introducing himself to anyone who doesn’t know what time it is, the Gold-selling rapper shares Bad Azz Yella Boy,” a new video. Produced by Yella’s frequent collaborator Blame It On Monstah, “Bad Azz Yella Boy” is an effortlessly funky portrait of a villain, featuring chirruping synths that evoke a classic Texas sound and a menacing piano line. Flexing with his laid-back and melodic flow, Yella Beezy delivers a nonchalant series of boasts with the easygoing confidence of someone who knows he’s telling the truth: “I’m out the cliffs and I don’t give a f*ck,” spits the Oak Cliff, Dallas native. In the video, the hitmaking rapper flashes his bedazzled rings (spelling out his familiar phrase “bacc end”) as he hops in his Rolls Royce and generates enough heat to flame on like the Human Torch.

“Bad Azz Yella Boy” is the title track from Bad Azz Yella Boy, Yella Beezy’s latest mixtape. Spanning 16 tracks with production from Murda Beatz and others, the mixtape was Yella’s first full-length project since the release of Baccend Beezyin 2019, featuring the Top 10 Urban Radio hit “Bacc At It Again” with Quavo and Gucci Mane. The rapper celebrated his new label partnership with Asylum Records by releasing “PIMP C,” a UGK-referencing single with a guest appearance from EST Gee.

Yella Beezy’s rise to mainstream popularity came soon after releasing his mixtape Lite Work, Volume 2 in 2017. Included in the highly acclaimed mixtape was his hit single “That’s On Me” which peaked at 37 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and earned 200M+ video views. In 2020, Yella Beezy released “Headlocc” ft. Young Thug, “Solid” ft. 42 Dugg, and “On Fleek” ft. Gunna. His 2021 viral hit “STAR” ft. Erica Banks garnered over 2 million video views. Throughout the course of his career, Yella Beezy has collaborated on tracks with Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, and Chris Brown among many others. The Dallas born rapper currently boasts over a billion combined streams across all platforms.

With a new label partnership and an album on the way in 2023, bet on Yella Beezy to reach superstar status in 2023.

    The Background:

Yella Beezy made his name in the industry the traditional way, building up a massive local fanbase in his hometown of Dallas before winning the support of DJs across the country. Despite his achievements, Yella Beezy prides himself on staying humble. A single mother raised him after his father was murdered when Yella was just 12 years old. Coping with the deep trauma, the light-skinned adolescent known around the neighborhood as “yella boy” took to football and the gangland streets of Southwest Dallas. However, music proved to be Yella Beezy’s greatest calling. Rapping and recording songs since his teens, things heated up by the mid-2010s. Videos for 2014’s “No Man” and 2015’s “Trap In Designer” achieved millions of views, transforming a local mixtape rapper into a recognized talent. He emerged in 2017 with the Gold-certified hit “That’s On Me,” which peaked at #1 on Urban radio, eclipsing Drake’s “In My Feelings” for the top spot. In Fall 2018, Yella Beezy opened for Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the On The Run Tour, and in 2019, he had a prominent spot supporting his “Restroom Occupied” co-star Chris Brown on his Indigoat Tour. In Summer 2019, he shared Baccend Beezy, the breakout chapter in the Texas native’s independent rise from obscurity to stardom. Featuring the Urban Radio Top 10 hit “Bacc At It Again” featuring Quavo and Gucci Mane, Baccend Beezy peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 and featured appearances from Young Thug, Chris Brown, NLE Choppa, Too $hort, and more. Under his new label partnership with Asylum Records, Yella Beezy continues his rise to viral triumph with a new album slated for release in 2023.

  • Press Release

SZA’s ‘SOS’ Signal, Coi and Busta Mash Up, Plus More TikTok Trends to Close Out 2022

    12.21.2022

TikTok Treats, Week of December 19th

TikTok Says Goodbye to 2022 with Big Hits From SZA, a Coi Leray x Busta Rhymes Mashup, Major Collabs in R&B and Regional Mexican Music, Plus Much More

    The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. This week’s trends run the gamut from acoustic ballads, to garage punk classics, to familiar R&B samples, but each one showcases the unique creativity the TikTok community injects into every track.

Last week, TikTok shared its Year On TikTok 2022 celebration, with three music categories that included The Hitmakers (Top US Artists, Lizzo), The Playlist (Top US Songs, “Sunroof” by Nicky Youre & Dazy), and Emerging Artists (including rising stars like Steve Lacy, Ice Spice, GloRilla, and more). In case you missed it, TikTok also released an extension to its YOTT 2022 report that took a deeper look at the music that trended and charted over the year. You can find that report, which discusses some of the most important music storylines of 2022, HERE.

Thank you for trend spotting with us in 2022. The TikTok Treats newsletter will return in 2023. Have a happy holiday season! And, as always, check out this week’s trends below: :

    • Five years after her debut, SZA released her sophomore album SOS, and the TikTok community can’t get enough of it. Singles from the album like “I Hate U” (1.1M+ total creations), “Blind” (244.5K+ total creations), and “Shirt” (33k video creations) have been big hits on the platform, and now that it’s finally out, creators are picking new favorites from SZA’s latest body of work. So far, the community’s favorites include her playfully murderous “Kill Bill” (283.9K+ total creations), known for its relatable lyrics, and the emotionally devastating “Nobody Gets Me” (14.5K+ creations), ideal for soundtracking confessions from creators who have strong feelings about the new album and admit to having feelings for their best friends. SZA’s fellow artists also showed her support of the new album, including Lizzo, who shared a video in praise of “Nobody Gets Me,” and Benny Blanco, a producer on “Nobody Gets Me,” who reveled in the relationship chaos that the SOS album is sure to provoke. Thanks in part to this boost from TikTok, SZA earned her first-ever #1 entry on the Billboard 200 chart for SOS, and a #1 on Spotify’s Global 50 chart for “Kill Bill.”
    • Coi Leray’s rise to prominence in 2021 received a boost from her TikTok-trending singles like “TWINNEM,” “No More Parties,” and “Ocean Prime” (w/ Bfb Da Packman). Coi’s latest single “PLAYERS” recaptured that energy, inspiring a flurry of creativity in the TikTok community. Creator @DJSaige caused a stir when she used her Serato Stems DJ software to combine Coi’s vocals with the iconic beat from Busta Rhymes’s 1997 classic “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See,” sharing the result in a video that racked up over 1.4 million views. Created on December 6th, the remix has become one of the most popular sounds on TikTok, generating over 100k video creations, including clips from Ciara, and Coi herself (Coi’s clip racked up over 11 million views). The Busta mashup isn’t the only remix of Coi’s banger that’s going around: a Jersey Club remix of “Players” created by DJ Smallz 732 generated over 700k creations, bolstered by a trend that pays tribute to the cartoonish lovestruck reactions of Jim Carrey in The Mask.
    • UK singer-songwriter RAYE and New Jersey artist 070 Shake are establishing an ineludible presence on TikTok with their lovelorn “Escapism” single from RAYE’s upcoming My 21st Century Blues album. Racking up over 739k total creations since its October release with popular sped-up and slowed-down versions, the track is inspiring creators to replace toxic coping mechanisms with better ones, whether it’s a healthy habit like a new fitness routine, a productive day off spent tidying up, or simply trying something new, like applying chapstick to their eyelids on a night out. Boosted by the TikTok trend, the track has exploded, earning RAYE and Shake their first Hot 100 entries last week, before cracking the top 30 of the Billboard Global 200 chart this week. Recently, RAYE took to TikTok and thanked fans for the song’s success, saying, “That’s all that mattered to me, is people hearing music that I’m proud of.”
    • The TikTok community is gearing up for the holidays and drawing inspiration from LA rapper Lil Vada’s energetic song “Wop It” to get their moves right just in time for the family functions. Boasting over 21.9K creations, the Usher-sampling track finds creators doing their own renditions of a dance routine choreographed by creator @br3all3, and showing off their moves while they’re working a graveyard shift, dancing with friends at a Christmas pajama party, or reenacting how Dracula dances in Hotel Transylvania. Lil Vada is also having fun with the sound on his own TikTok page, reacting to videos of people dancing to the catchy track and sharing a montage of his musical journey since the release of “Wop It.”
    • Japanese pop duo YOASOBI made a major splash on TikTok with their smooth single “たぶん” (pronounced “Tabun,” which translates to “Perhaps”). The song has generated over 8 million video creations since its release last year, and it has resurged on the back of a new trend surrounding TikTok’s new AI filters. Using the “AI Manga” filter and the YOASOBI banger, creators on TikTok discover what they would look like if they were drawn as characters from a Manga or Anime film. While some are delighted with their cartoon physiques, others reveal pet-related mishaps, come up with a new and improved version of the Peso, or wonder if there are ghosts in the machine.
    • They scored a trending song on TikTok this fall with “No Se Va” (887.3k creations), and now Grupo Frontera has another hit on their hands. The regional Mexican group teamed with buzzing Mexican singer Carin León for the yearning single “Que Vuelvas.” Earning over 38.5k creations since its December 9th release, creators flock to “Que Vuelvas” to showcase expressions of their own love language, whether it’s through their favorite foods, the gifts they give their siblings, or the warm embrace of the ones that matter most. Augmented by the trending prowess of the two Mexican acts (Carin Leon had a viral hit of his own earlier this year when “La Boda Del Huitlacoche” racked up over 400k total creations), ”Que Vuelvas” generated over 6 million Spotify streams in less than two weeks.
    • Puerto Rico-born superstar Rauw Alejandro is one of the most popular Latin artists on TikTok, with over 13 million followers and trending hits like “PUNTO 40” (2.5 million creations) and “Todo De Ti” (2.7 million creations). Just in time for the holidays, Rauw blessed his fans on the platform with a gift: exclusive access to his new video for “Corazón Despeinado,” a highlight from his new album SATURNO. Optimized for TikTok’s vertical format and bursting at the seams with invention, Rauw travels into space, plays DDR at the arcade, and attempts to avoid a King Kong-sized mamacita. Available to watch in full on Rauw’s page, the clip has over 9.4 million views in just six days, and has inspired fans in the comments to anoint TikTok as the new go-to platform for music video exclusives. Rauw’s “Corazon Despeinado” follows in the footsteps of TikTok video premieres by artists like Tate McRae, Måneskin, and more.

TikTok is celebrating the holidays with a special event hosted by Alicia Keys. Streaming exclusively on Apple Music and on @AppleMusic on TikTok, the global superstar is set to host the first-ever Holiday Masquerade Ball tonight, December 21st at 7pm PT/10pm ET. Produced in partnership with TikTok, the 15-time GRAMMY® Award-winner’s epic one-night-only hometown performance at The United Palace in New York–packed with glitter and glamor to celebrate the holiday season.

An active member of the TikTok community and the inspiration behind trends set to songs like “My Boo” and “Girl on Fire,” Alicia Keys will perform songs from her new Christmas album Santa Baby, along with highlights from her illustrious career. During her performance, Alicia will welcome JVKE, a TikTok community favorite, for a special rendition of his hit trending single “golden hour,” which has generated more than 125k total creations on the platform.

“This is THEE Holiday party of the season,” said Alicia Keys. “I’m grateful to Apple Music and TikTok for helping me create a magic moment to showcase my first holiday album, in such a special way, for everyone around the world.”

Chief Keef Celebrates 10 Years of his Landmark Debut with ‘Finally Rich (Complete Edition)’

    12.19.2022

Chief Keef Releases Finally Rich (Complete Edition)

Celebrating a Decade of His Landmark Debut

Sosa Adds 7 Unreleased Tracks to His 2012 Classic, Including “Rider” ft. Wiz Khalifa

    Critical Praise:

    Rolling Stone’s 200 Best Hip-Hop Albums of All-Time (Finally Rich, #32)

“There is still nothing that feels like ‘Love Sosa,’ the breakout single from a then 17-year-old Chief Keef, from his debut album, Finally Rich. The Chicago rapper’s melodic, hard-nosed anthem shook the foundation of hip-hop. The kids were taking control in a way that the genre had never seen.” – Rolling Stone

“There’s no denying the influence of Keef’s menacing production, straightforward verses, and early D.I.Y. rap ethos on the generation of hip-hop artists that has followed.”Pitchfork

“The influence and staying power of Chief Keef really cannot be overstated.” – The FADER

    The Announcement:

Los Angeles, CA (December 16, 2022) – Emerging onto the scene in 2012 with a “bang bang,” Chief Keef’s arrival changed the face of rap music for the following decade. Celebrating 10 years of his culture-shifting classic debut album, the multi-platinum rapper-producer shares Finally Rich (Complete Edition). Adding 7 previously unreleased tracks, including a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa on “Rider,” Finally Rich (Complete Edition) is available everywhere now via Interscope Records.

Originally released on December 12, 2012, the seismic impact of Finally Rich sparked waves that continue to reverberate throughout popular music a decade later. The album’s innovative soundscapes, crafted in part by Chicago sound architect Young Chop, combined with Keef’s mutated melodies and off-kilter turns of phrase to create a massive moment for the then-ascendant genre of drill. The landmark album set the stage for the Chicago-born genre’s global takeover, and Keef’s unapologetic energy and singular vocal style influenced an entire generation of rappers (an incomplete list of his admirers includes 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti). Rated by PitchforkRolling Stone, and many other publications as one of the best rap albums of the 2010s, Finally Rich changed the face of music, established Sosa as a globally recognizable icon and shifted the center of rap culture back to the streets.

Cracking the Top 5 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and Top Rap Albums Chart before eventually earning platinum status, the now-classic album is home to iconic singles like the quadruple-platinum “Love Sosa,” double-platinum “Hate Bein’ Sober” [feat. 50 Cent & Wiz Khalifa], and “I Don’t Like” [feat. Lil Reese]—which famously inspired the platinum-certified “I Don’t Like (Remix)” [feat. Pusha T, Kanye West, Big Sean, & Jadakiss] on the G.O.O.D. Music collective’s Billboard 200 #1 album, Cruel Summer. The new songs on the Complete Edition fit seamlessly alongside these classics, rekindling the spirit of 2012 among loyal fans and newcomers alike.

Speaking to the enduring impact of Finally Rich, Spotify is collaborating with Chief Keef to present an exclusive fan performance celebrating 10 years of the iconic album. Top fans will be invited to attend the intimate concert event in Brooklyn, NY.

Uncountably prolific, yet never seeming to run out of ideas, Chief Keef is embarking on a new chapter of his storied career. Earlier this year, he announced the formation of 43B, his new record label formed in conjunction with BMG, and signed its first artist, Lil Gnar. The two 43B artists combined for the recent single “Almighty Gnar,” a beat-shifting banger. In December 2021, the rapper shared his critically acclaimed project 4NEM, home to viral single “Yes Sir” and titanic opener “Bitch Where,” prominently used in the fourth season of FX’s Atlanta and recently included in Pitchfork’s Best Singles of 2022 list, and founded his new Web3 venture DigiGlo. Keef is preparing to release his next all-new highly anticipated project, Almighty So 2, home to recent singles “Racks Stuffed Inna Couch,” “Tony Montana Flow,” and “Chief So,” in early 2023.

Stay tuned for much more from the young icon as he continues to build his legacy.

Kenzo Balla Calls an All-Out Rush with ‘Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe)’

    12.19.2022

EP: Kenzo Balla –Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe)

The Rising New York Native Adds 5 New Tracks to His Expansive Debut EP, Including an Appearance from Kyle Richh of Brooklyn’s 41 Crew

    Critical Praise

“Kenzo Balla is yet another emerging voice out of New York City’s drill scene right now.” – Billboard

“Kenzo’s energy is magnetic” – COMPLEX

“Kenzo Balla’s commanding voice makes the new [“Let Me Know”] single an immediate standout.” – Audiomack

“Kenzo Balla is stepping into the game with sky high ambitions and a pen to match.” – IMPRINT

    The Deluxe:

Flooding the pocket with tireless intensity and a natural gift for disruption, Kenzo Balla approaches his music with a motive for mayhem. Today, the Bronx bruiser shares Mr. Ready to Blitz (Deluxe), adding five new tracks to the expansive effort, featuring production from Frank BeatsiamTash, and more, as well as an appearance from 41 crew standout Kyle Richh on the deluxe’s video single, “PSA.”

On the deluxe version of Mr. Ready to Blitz, first released in November, Kenzo furthers the scope of his sound. Kicking off with his signature full-throated shout on the opening track, “Losing Control Pt. 2,” Kenzo rides the pitched up vocal melodies of Frank Beats’ production as he vents his fears and frustrations with a hardened perspective. On cuts like “PSA” and “Rock and Roll,” Kenzo barks his bars over distorted electric guitar loops that highlight the parallels between explosive subgenres like Kenzo’s brand of drill and hardcore punk or metal.

Home to singles like the high-octane “Krash Out,” and the Cito Blick and Pdot Savv-assisted “Don’t Panic,” Kenzo’s impactful performance on Mr. Ready to Blitz lived up to its title. On “Feel The Rage,” Kenzo bursts onto an endearingly melancholic drill instrumental with the headstrong momentum of a mammoth nose tackle like Vince Wilfork, while more fast-paced cuts like the Nas EBK-featured “SMMBF” highlight Kenzo’s elusive agility as he flashes through instrumental pockets like Troy Polamalu. Like all the most elite defensive rushers in the game, Kenzo’s strength lies in his opponent’s inability to contain him– in the split second it takes to register his arrival on the track, he puts himself 10 steps ahead.

A rising name in one of the nation’s busiest rap scenes, Kenzo Balla made his mark on the scene with his relentless rhymes and high-energy vocals. Known for collaborating with fellow Bronx heavyweights like his brother TG Crippy, Kenzo kicked off his career with a frenzy of fiery videos, including local hits like “5th To Sev” ft. TG Crippy & Pdot Sav (1.9 million video views), “OOTAZ,” and the “Love Nwantiti”-remixing Let Me Know” (1.8 million views). This summer, the former AAU baller tore up the streets with Dead Gzz,” a vicious, uptempo missive that racked up over 1.3 million video views since its release in June.

Now signed to 10K Projects, Kenzo Balla emerges from his perch in the Bronx to blitz the rap game. Sit back and watch his rise, because there’s no stopping it.

    The Background:

Kenzo Balla evokes both the ecstasy and the peril of New York street rap. The Bronx artist serves up chilly bars over hammering drill beats for stylish, yet raw anthems that are drawing the attention of the world by the day. Teaming with frequent collaborators TG Crippy (his brother) and Jay Da Chaser, he blends those elements on tracks like “OOTAZ,” which drips with adrenaline and confrontation. While the track and others like it evoke unsettling force, they’ve also become the soundtrack of functions across the East Coast, and Kenzo wouldn’t have it any other way. Growing up in the BX, everyone knew each other and attended the same parties, but as he became a teenager, the drama escalated. Kenzo realized he’d have to change his lifestyle to survive. He’d spent much of his early years freestyling with friends, so he decided to record his first songs in 2018. After catching attention with melodic tracks like “Backends,” each new release earned more streams than the last. In September 2021, he unloaded “5th to the Sev,” an anthem for his neighborhood that garnered 1 million YouTube views. By 2022, he’d signed a deal with 10K Projects, alongside Crippy. With a growing fan base and an evolving sound in the works for a new project, Kenzo recognizes the potential of the moment he’s having now. On a grander level, he wants to rep the neighborhood that raised him. “I’m making music for me, my brother, my block, for the Bronx, and the whole city,” he says. “The Bronx is just me”.

Today, Young Dolph’s estate and his label Paper Route Empire present Paper Route Frank, a posthumous album from the proud Memphis native. Completed and conceptualized by the Memphis legend before his passing, Paper Route Frank portrays Dolph as a don surveying his territory, pleased with his accomplishments and determined to make space for the next generation to continue the work he started. Home to standout single “Hall Of Fame,” released on what would’ve been Dolph’s 37th birthday, and “Get Away,” released last month, Paper Route Frank proves that the artist reached a pinnacle in his songwriting prowess, his hard-hitting anthems alternating between brash, irreverent and profound.

Spanning 14 tracks, Paper Route Frank drips with the same commanding charisma and booming Tennessee bass that define Dolph’s impeccable catalog. The tape features production from frequent collaborators like Paper Route Empire’s own Bandplay, Cleveland-born Sosa 808, and Memphis mainstay DJ Squeeky, plus Southern rap sound architects including Dun Deal and Drumma Boy, all of whom rise to the occasion with cinematic, speaker-knocking instrumentals that accentuate each outlandish boast.

Paper Route Frank welcomes a expertly-curated list of guest stars, each of whom had a personal relationship with the rapper. Dolph’s cousin and frequent rap partner Key Glock returns to spar on “That’s How,” and Glock’s fellow PRE signees Big Moochie Grape and SNUPE BANDZ make memorable impression in their verses on “Infatuated With Drugs.” The album also makes room for star turns from Dolph’s peers, including close friend Gucci Mane puts his stamp on “Roster,” and 2 Chainz, one of the few in the game who could match Dolph punchline for punchline, on “Beep Beep.”

Paper Route Frank arrives on the heels of the  Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Day of Service on November 17th, officially ordained by the state legislatures of Georgia and Tennessee last December in honor of Dolph’s memory. The IdaMae Foundation, in partnership with The Confess Project of America, will honor the legacy of Young Dolph by activating several public service events. Reported on by hundreds of outlets across the globe, #DolphDay furthered Dolph’s charitable efforts and reaffirmed the beloved rapper’s place in hip-hop history.

If Paper Route Frank is a concluding chapter in the career of Young Dolph, it’s a fitting one, painting a picture of a legend at the height of his powers with a clear-eyed perception of his enduring legacy. With his PRE brethren trumpeting his name on each and every track, Dolph’s legend will live on in Memphis and beyond.

“The UK’s new rap superstar” – The Face

    A suave demeanor” – Pitchfork

“London’s rapper of the moment” – Evening Standard

“Essential within the scene” – Crack

“Who is bigger than Central Cee right now?” – NME

“Central Cee deserves his seat at the table.” – Trench

    The Announcement:

Central Cee has reached a truly poignant moment in his career, with high anticipation around his every move. Having just concluded the UK and EU leg of his “Still Loading World Tour” with a sold-out and critically lauded moment at Alexandra Palace in London (live streamed by Amazon), as well as fronting the new Jacquemus “Neve World” Winter campaign, Cench has returned with an undeniably addictive new single: “LET GO”. Sampling the hit single “Let Her Go” by Passenger, which was released a decade ago, the new offering is steeped in a warm nostalgia, whilst also marking a groundbreaking moment in this young artist’s catalogue of music.

Long-term fans will recall a time when Cench sang as a default. On “LET GO”, available everywhere now, the West London hailing musician is back to serenading his fans. It’s a love song at its core; but it’s also a stark reminder that Central Cee does not adhere to the rules. Constantly adapting; constantly changing, he is an inimitable talent who on this single, has successfully blended a dulcet and emotive vocal with his instantly recognizable rap flow. A mysterious character, with each release Central Cee is slowly peeling back the layers of his personality.  “I need something a lot more fulfilling,” he explains, while discussing love as “quantum physics” and admitting “I don’t know how we got in this mess.”

    Stream “LET GO”: https://cench.lnk.to/LET-GO

“LET GO” is accompanied by an impromptu video, shot spontaneously pre-show at Alexandra Palace on November 22nd, by long-term collaborator Kunography. The single is at moments a return to Cench’s more heart-felt releases, such as “Commitment Issues” and platinum viral hit “Obsessed With You,” but also occupies an entirely new space. It’s a developed sonic and an undeniable earworm.

    Watch “LET GO”: https://youtu.be/BqucGvLxrEk

“LET GO” follows surprise drop No More Leaks, which also saw the creation of the ‘Live Yours’ youtube channel – the visual home of Central Cee’s record label of the same name, which will highlight different musical artists from across the globe. Featuring tracks “One Up,” “Bumpy Johnson,” and the raw and open “Chapters,” the EP was a defiant statement of intent in the face of those who have been leaking Cench’s music.

Earlier this year, Cench took over the summer airwaves with his global viral smash single “Doja“, a track that saw him become the first ever UK artist to have a video directed by the iconic Cole Bennett, and hosted on the Lyrical Lemonade YouTube channel. Since then, “Doja” has racked up over 350 million global streams and Cench has become the first UK artist to have the most streamed hip hop track globally on Spotify in one week. “Doja” also landed at #2 debut on the UK Official Charts, and has since declared Central Cee as the first UK Solo artist to gain a platinum single in France.

Central Cee is the UK’s hottest and most followed rapper, with a social audience of over 10 million, and an awe-inspiring 2.5 Billion global artist streams. This year, he became the first UK rapper to reach 1 Billion streams in a year on Spotify. Transcending the UK rap scene, 65% of Central Cee’s fans are outside of the UK, with him regularly charting across the globe. His recent LA Leakers freestyle has become the second most viewed on their youtube channel this year.

At the top of 2022, Central Cee whipped up a frenzy with the release of his critically acclaimed 23 mixtape – a project that debuted at Number 1 in the UK official charts, and followed on from 2021’s Wild West, which was the highest selling British debut project of the year.

Without a doubt the biggest name in UK rap of the current moment, Central Cee is impossible to ignore.

    The Background:

Central Cee has an undeniable magnetism. On Christmas Day 2021, in the wake of his enormous Pink Pantheress-sampling single “Obsessed With You,”  he released a GRM Daily Duppy (a performance on one of the UK’s most popular street rap platforms), which went on to be the highest charting in history. This year, after a stellar position in 2022’s BBC Sound Poll, Central Cee consequently received an astounding three BRIT Award nominations, for Best New ArtistBest Song, and Best British Hip Hop, Rap, Grime act. Late last year, Central Cee won Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist of The Year at the GRM Awards, accolades which add to his already incredible position as Spotify’s Radar Artist and YouTube’s Artist On The Rise, not to mention his recent double gong win at the MOBO Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Drill Act. The young superstar is currently gracing the cover of The Face Magazine, where he reveals the motivations that drive his rapid rise to the top.

Astounding fans and critics alike, CC’s independently released debut mixtape Wild West was the highest selling independent project of 2021 and 2021’s only UK debut project to go Gold. The mixtape landed in the wake of the hugely successful singles “Loading” and “Commitment Issues”, breaking internationally and sending his name reverberating across the globe. Cench has a keen eye for fashion–on his debut tape campaign, Cench collaborated with UK Streetwear brands Corteiz,  and Trapstar on merch lines, both of which sold out within 60 minutes. The 23 mixtape campaign follows on in this vein, with CC releasing his own 23 merch, creating a fan-art led physical edition of the tape, and collaborating with Trapstar on a merch line once again.

With co-signs from The Guardian, Pitchfork, NME, Clash, The Face, Complex, Crack, the late Virgil Abloh and other global music icons, Central Cee is taking over, and the 23 mixtape’s arrival is certain to propel him even further on his unparalleled journey.

DCG Brothers Celebrate Freedom in “Bond Hold” Video

    12.15.2022

Video: DCG Brothers – “Bond Hold

Chicago Drill’s Most Dynamic Duo Take The Party Wherever They Go In Latest Video Single

    Critical Praise:

“Big things are happening on the West Side of Chicago…You can’t find [two] rappers having more fun right now.” – Pitchfork

“Chicago is and will be the home of drill forever. The DCG Brothers are among those carrying the torch into a new generation with their own pop-friendly twist. Each record, they continue to carve out their own lane in rap.”HotNewHipHop

“Just when it seemed like the drill scene in Chicago was coming to a bit of a standstill, the DCG Brothers came in and made an insane splash with their modern take on a sound that put this city on the map in a huge way.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“DCG Brothers Make Pop Drill for a New Generation” DJ Booth

“I could still get a taste of that old summertime feeling from the video for ‘Mmhmm,’ by teenage west-side rap duo DCG Brothers.”Chicago Reader

    The Video:

Aiming to be the biggest duo out of Chicago, the DCG Brothers inject their magnetic personalities into everything they do. The teen rap duo, comprised of DCG Shun & DCG BSavv, prove they’re unlike anyone in the Chicago drill scene with their latest video single, “Bond Hold.” Over an ominously bouncy piano instrumental, the brothers deliver flex-heavy bars and snarling tough talk, emphasizing their cold-hearted ways and status in their city. Bsavv boasts: “I been the man, I feel like Soulja Boy in 2010,” to which Shun follows up: “I been runnin’ sh*t for real, I got my arm swole.”

In the No More Heroes-directed video, the brothers’ lavish lifestyle is on full display as they turn up everywhere from the club to the party to the show. Starting at a booming house party where the brothers show off their iced out chains and stacks of cash, the video demonstrates how far they’ve come, shining a spotlight on the packed-out crowd from the brothers’ hometown show at the Patio Theater.

Earlier this year, the DCG Brothers shared Jungle Life, an accomplished, 14-track mixtape that established the duo as one of the most exciting acts in their hometown. Home to the hit single “Stomp,” featuring Chicago legend G Herbo (1.8 million YouTube views), Jungle Life takes a raw, unfiltered look at the group’s home neighborhood, while showcasing the percolating chemistry that helped them escape their circumstances. “Growing up in a real jungle around savage and seeing crazy things, basically meeting different types of people and associating them with animals,” say the DCG BROTHERS. “RATS, SNAKES, GORILLAS, & EVERYDAY IT’S A SURVIVAL IN THE JUNGLE.” Featuring additional appearances from BIG30B-Lovee, and frequent collaborator MsavvJungle Life has earned nearly 15 million streams since its release and it is available everywhere via No More Heroes/Atlantic Records.

With much more music, and plenty more creative videos, and with the backing of No More Heroes and Atlantic Records, there’s no limit to the heights the DCG BROTHERS will reach.

    The Background:

Though DCG Shun and DCG BSavv may seem like newcomers in the rap game, they’ve been perfecting their craft for years. Bsavv started rapping when he was 8-years-old–around the time of Chicago’s world-changing drill boom–inspiring his brother Shun to learn to spit and establishing a symbiotic artistic relationship that has lasted over a decade. Racking up YouTube videos by the million before Shun could legally drive, the duo became known around Chicago for their irrepressible personalities, drawing the attention of prolific music video collective No More Heroes, who paired their boisterous bars with eye-popping visuals to match. The duo earned acclaim from national media, including Pitchfork, with the hilarious “Mmhmm” ft. Msavv (3.4 million views), which deposited the three emcees on a golf course for eighteen holes of mayhem. DCG Brothers kept the momentum going in 2021 with “House Party,” produced by Internet Money, generating over 2.3 million views. Hot on the heels of their recent Jungle Life mixtape, the DCG Brothers are looking to elevate from Chicago heroes to national names. The brother duo have racked up over 20 million on-demand streams and 21 million YouTube views over the course of their career.

The 808-Mafia Affiliated Texas Rapper Proves He Has The Streets of Waco On Lock In The Latest Video Off Out The Blue

    Critical Praise:

“Overtop booming 808s, Wacotron’s laid-back charisma commands attention.” – DJ Booth

“808 Mafia-affiliated and dedicated to the art of rhyming as much as he is to making undeniable bangers, Texas native WacoTron wears his allegiance to his hometown on his sleeve.” – UPROXX

“His flows are impressive and seem to naturally roll off of his tongue which shows off his masterful outlook and impressive aptitudes despite his relatively new entrance into the music scene.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“Southside protege Wacotron is a new-ish name, but he sounds like he’s been doing this for years, balancing simplicity, interiority, and the confidence of an established vet.” – UPROXX

    The Video:

Wacotron is making waves in Texas and beyond with his sharp lyricism and clever wordplay. Putting his strikingly honest street raps on full-display, the Lone Star State trapper shares the visual for “Let Me Find Out.”

A highlight from Waco’s November mixtape Out the Blue, “Let Me Find Out” is a shining example of the street veteran’s lyrical prowess. On top of a dark and bass-heavy instrumental, he makes it clear that the opps can’t hide anything from him, no matter how hard they try. In the DJ Black Messiah-directed video, Waco and his trusty guard dogs stand ready for anyone who tries to cross them, warning, “Play with me it make the news.”

“Let Me Find Out” is Wacotron’s first new video since releasing Out The Blue, the highly-anticipated follow-up mixtape to his critically acclaimed 2021 project Smokin Texas. Highlighted by heavy trap production from Southside & 808 Mafia, among others, the 11-track effort establishes Wacotron’s status as the man in his city. On tracks like the lead single “Game Time,” he shares harrowing tales about life on the streets of Waco, weaving pearls of street wisdom and sly turns-of-phrase.

With Out The Blue, Wacotron plans to build on the success of his debut 2021 mixtape Smokin’ Texas, which received praise from ComplexHipHopDXDJ Booth, and more. He hasn’t been entirely quiet over the past year, though, as he’s made waves in the rap game with singles like “Raw” and “Free Mason” (each with over 4 million streams on Spotify). The Waco, TX native has been an ambassador for central Texas rap, working alongside other Waco risers and boosting their careers while he becomes a star in his own right.

With the release of his sophomore project Out The Blue, Wacotron proves he’s an artist to watch in the bustling Texas scene. Stay tuned for much more from the young rapper in the near future.

    The Background:

A native of Waco, TX–hence his name–Wacotron showed a passion for music from a young age, absorbing the 808-driven trap music he listened to in the car with his dad. After spending years mired in the struggle, Wacotron turned to rap in his 20’s, searching for a better way to provide for his family and escape his circumstances. The rapper started to build a reputation in his home state, eventually catching the attention of Pick Six Records, who signed him to a deal and connected him with Southside and 808 Mafia. He released his debut project Smokin’ Texas in April 2021.

With the weight of the influential 808 Mafia behind him, Wacotron is in prime position to make his mark on the rap game in 2022 and beyond.

Read below to see how these AT clients changed the way business was done in 2022:

    TECH & MUSIC DISCOVERY:

    TikTok
    tiktok | desktop website

TikTok continued to be the dominant force in music and culture in 2022, at once creating a new monoculture with its inescapable trends and remaining a hub where eccentric memes and niche communities thrive.

The revolutionary platform continued to be the top source for runaway hits, with 10 of this year’s #1 Billboard Hot 100 hits experiencing trending moments on TikTok. Jack Harlow earned a number one debut–his first solo #1 hit–after a snippet of “First Class” took off on TikTok, and the platform helped Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” grow from cult concern to ubiquitous smash. In the early part of the year, TikTok fueled America’s obsession with the soundtrack to Encanto, helping “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” become the first number one hit from an animated Disney film in three decades.

Though it continued to jumpstart smash hits and birth new stars, 2022 welcomed phenomena that only could’ve arisen on TikTok. TikTok helped usher soundtrack songs and catalog songs to the charts at unprecedented rates, its focus on music inspiring fans to use songs from their favorite TV shows or movies when they made content related to those media. As conversation around a certain property grew, so did the song prominently used in that property–the major example was Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” used in Stranger Things, but other songs like Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” and Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” benefitted from the phenomenon as well.

Beyond the chart-topping hits, TikTok remained the number one destination for emerging artists to kickstart their careers. Female rappers like Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Dreya Mac greatly expanded their audiences on TikTok, while offbeat artists like Lawsy and Hemlocke Springs earned attention. TikTok took their developmental powers to a new level with SoundOn, TikTok’s all-in-one platform for music creators, helping artists like Muni Long, Russ, and even Dolly Parton release music, while artists like Nicky Youre and Katherine Li used SoundOn as a springboard to major label deals.

After another massive year, TikTok’s influence shows no signs of abating. From “Jiggle Jiggle” to “Sunroof” to Recess Therapy, one thing is clear: TikTok has the juice to make hits and launch careers in music and beyond.

    LIVE MUSIC:

    Rolling Loud
    website | twitter | instagram | facebook

Rolling Loud co-founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif elevated Rolling Loud from a single-day Miami event to the World’s Biggest Rap Festival. Now, seven years after its founding, Rolling Loud is a truly global operation, bringing the biggest and best in hip-hop today to multiple continents. 2022 was a year of international expansion, as Rolling Loud hosted the first-ever Rolling Loud Portugal on the beaches of Portimão, and headed to the woods of the Netherlands for Rolling Loud x Woo Hah! Fest, its first-ever camping festival. In September, Rolling Loud debuted its first Canadian festival, Rolling Loud Toronto, located in the picturesque Ontario Place in the heart of Canada’s largest city.

Rolling Loud didn’t just expand its array of locations in 2022–it broadened its artistic palette, welcoming international artists like RL Toronto headliners WizKid and Dave, plus RL Portugal performers like Central Cee and Skepta, to the fold.

At a time when live festivals struggled to draw crowds, Rolling Loud manage to sell even more tickets in 2022 on its domestic shows than in 2021. Rolling Loud showed out with some of its most impressive lineups yet. Rolling Loud Miami 2022 was one of the most talked about events of the year, featuring headliners Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi & Future, plus a special appearance from Travis Scott. Rolling Loud New York 2022, the fest’s third foray into Hip-Hop’s hometown, welcomed Nicki Minaj as a headliner, along with festival mainstays A$AP Rocky and Future.

Rolling Loud has conquered the festival game, but 2022 saw the company make moves towards domination in other fields, as well. Rolling Loud announced LoudPunx, its first NFT Program with unprecedented utility, continued to innovate in the festival merch and fashion space, and just last week, Rolling Loud announced its first-ever Rolling Loud album with a single featuring Rae Sremmurd and Duke Deuce.

The company is preparing to open it up with a truly massive 2023, with brand new festivals in Thailand and Germany, hosting the first ever music festival at Hollywood Park, adjacent to SoFi Stadium, in L.A., and of course, returning for the eighth Rolling Loud Miami.

AFROPUNK leads the vanguard of Black music and culture, curating one-of-a-kind events that shine a light on overlooked aspects of the Black experience. AFROPUNK festivals by a curatorial spirit dedicated to bringing the fashion, food, and music of the diaspora to the masses, and a one-of-a-kind vibe that springs from the sense of comfort event attendees feel in their ability to be their true, unapologetic selves.

In 2022, the culture-shifting brand expanded its imprint, hosting the first-ever live Planet AFROPUNK experiences in Miami and Minneapolis, but the crowning achievement for AFROPUNK was its long-awaited return to Brooklyn. Headlined by Burna Boy and The Roots, and featuring a deep lineup including Tierra Whack, Lucky Daye, Earl Sweatshirt, and more, AFROPUNK Brooklyn 2022 was a glorious homecoming for the brand, as fans streamed into Commodore Barry Park dressed to impress and ready for a one-of-a-kind experience. Each AFROPUNK event is accompanied by a series of initiatives and Solution Sessions designed to benefit the community and educate festival-goers and community members alike.

Music is merely one focus of the AFROPUNK brand. In 2022, AFROPUNK launched the Black Fashion Accelerator, in partnership with Shopify, offering Black fashion entrepreneurs an intensive six-month program with a top tier curriculum that allowed them the opportunity to bloom as artists and build successful, sustainable, and profitable businesses. The BFA culminated in a fashion show in SoHo, showcasing the works of the program’s eleven founders in a stunning display.

AFROPUNK has no plans of slowing down in 2023–it caps off Black History Month with Black HERSTORY Live, its first-ever showcase at the world-renowned Lincoln Center For The Performing Arts.

As Latin music and reggaeton continues to make inroads into the American market, the producers behind Baja Beach Fest are not far behind. In 2022, festival founders Chris Den Uijl and Aaron Ampudia teamed up with C3 Productions to create Sueños Festival in Chicago, the largest reggaeton and Latin music festival ever to take place in the city’s historic Grant Park.

Headlined by J Balvin and Ozuna, the inaugural festival was a smashing success, curating an irrepressibly positive vibe and providing a celebratory moment for Chicago’s sizable Latin American population. Beyond the headliners, the festival welcomed stars like Wisin & Yandel and Farruko to rock the crowd.

While they expanded into new markets, Baja Beach Fest bolstered their annual flagship event even further, putting on two weekends worth of performances by the biggest stars in Latin music today. Highlighted by Daddy Yankee’s only festival performance of the year, the fourth Baja Beach Fest also welcomed headliners like Maluma and Anuel AA, while taking special steps to showcase regional Mexican music with artists like Banda MS and Natanael Cano holding it down for the home country.

Just four years after its founding as a one-day festival in Rosarito Beach, MX, Baja Beach Fest is now a global concern, and with no signs of stopping anytime soon.

    RECORDING & PRODUCTION:

    Serato
official site instagram | youtube | twitch

Since emerging in 1999 with the revolutionary “Pitch ‘n Time” technology, which could shift the tempo of a recording without changing the key–Serato has been at the vanguard of sonic expression and the gold standard for DJs and producers worldwide. In 2022, Serato developed its latest industry-shifting technology–Serato Stems. Stems allows DJs and producers to effortlessly isolate four different audio stems for vocals, bass, drums, and melodies in real-time and control those stems independently. Once an arduous process, Serato Stems makes it easier than ever to sample or remix a song, delivering infinite possibilities for sampling and unique sound creation and making the art of remixing more accessible than ever.

Stems made its debut in Serato DJ 3.0, the latest edition of the New Zealand-based company’s gold standard DJing software, and it will be the defining feature of Serato Studio 2.0, Serato’s digital audio workspace, launching in early 2023. In seconds users can flip, layer, chop, and isolate samples with incredibly high sound quality, giving them the freedom to sample how they’ve always wanted to sample. “With this update, Serato Studio is the center of my universe. This is a big moment for music production,” says DJ Khalil, who is nominated for two Grammys this year for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

With Serato Studio 2.0 launching very soon, it’s only a matter of time until Stems–which producer Cookin Soul calls “the biggest moment in sampling since the MPC”–makes a major impact.

Key Glock is a Sinner and a Saint in “Forgive Me” Video

    12.12.2022

Video: Key Glock – “Forgive Me

The Red Hot Paper Route Empire Rapper Dons a Nun’s Habit and a Diamond-Studded Chain in the Latest Video from the PRE5L EP

    The Video:

Key Glock‘s flexes have always served a higher purpose than mere braggadocio. Wrestling with his past and present sins in his latest video single, the Paper Route Empire stunna shares Forgive Me. Produced by Memphis hitmaker Hitkidd, who layers carol-like bells and children’s choirs atop the booming bass and 808s of his hometown’s trap music, “Forgive Me” is Key Glock’s devotional prayer to the grind, dripping with insights into street living and testaments to Glock’s chosen one status: “I walk by fate, yeah, with my pipe/I smoke with demons every night/I wake up, gamble with my life.” In the video, Glock takes ’em to church, donning a nun’s habit as he preaches to his congregation and stunts in front of stained glass.

“Forgive Me” is a highlight from PRE5L, Glock’s new EP, released on #DolphDay in November. The five-track project paints a way forward for the legendary Memphis label, as the 25-year-old rapper shows his determination to lead PRE into a bright future. Featuring production from Tay KeithBandPlayHitKiddJohnnyTurnItUp, and Aimonmyneck, and home to the recent video single Jigsaw,” PRE5L is available everywhere via Paper Route Empire.

The video for “Forgive Me” quickly follows the recent announcement of Glock’s SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock – Glockoma Tour, which kicks off in March. Featuring support from fellow Memphis heavy-hitter Big Scarr, the 31-date run kicks off on March 5th at Atlanta’s Coca-Cola Roxy making stops in Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, and more before wrapping up in Nashville, TN at Marathon Music Works on April 28th.

SNUPE BANDZ Takes Bankroll Freddie Somewhere You Can’t Go in “Green Beam” Video

    12.14.2022

Video: SNUPE BANDZ – “Green Beam” ft. Bankroll Freddie

The Paper Route Empire Artist Connects With Arkansas Spitter Bankroll Freddie in New Video from BOYZ N THE HOOD, a Collaborative Mixtape with PaperRoute Woo

    Critical Praise:

“The Memphis natives have dropped a raw and street-heavy collab that champions authenticity.” – HNHH

    The Video:

With his magnetic presence and versatile arsenal of flows, SNUPE BANDZ is a true Memphis original. Connecting with slick street rapper Bankroll Freddie, SNUPE shares his new video for “Green Beam,” a standout from the recent BOYZ N THE HOOD joint album with his Paper Route Empire labelmate, PaperRoute Woo. Over an ominous trap instrumental that resonates with the feeling of lurking danger, SNUPE and Freddie welcome listeners into a high-stakes world where only the tough can last: “You can’t come to Block 19 if we ain’t never seen you/I might pop out with them killers, they gon’ green beam you.”

The video for “Green Beam” is presented like a piece of immersive journalism, inviting listeners to SNUPE’s perilous home turf of Block 19, as it kicks off with a warning: “The footage you are about to see is from the notorious Block 19– a place where most are not welcome.” As the video progresses through found footage-style cuts through handheld video and security cameras, it’s increasingly clear that the difference between a smooth visit and one that goes sideways is entirely in SNUPE’s hands, as strangers and adversaries are dealt with at discretion.

On BOYZ N THE HOOD, released in October, SNUPE and Woo’s Southern synergy is felt throughout its 15 tracks. Each artist’s individual strengths shine through brilliantly – on “When I’m Bored,” Woo’s flex-heavy ferocity emerges in rare form, while SNUPE dazzles with his head-turning hooks and clever rhymes on standouts like “Team Player.” With high-energy features from Arkansas’ own Bankroll Freddie and the crunkstar himself, Duke Deuce, BOYZ N THE HOOD continues to usher in a new era of dominance for Paper Route Empire.

SNUPE BANDZ and PaperRoute Woo have a long history of collaborations, dating back to 2020’s “In My Bag” and continuing through last year’s “Pop Out,” which drew 1.8 million YouTube views. Both SNUPE and Woo joined their mentor Young Dolph on “Nothing To Me,” a standout single from last year’s PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi mixtape, generating over 9 million views, and they later took the stage in remembrance of their role model during a tribute set at Rolling Loud California 2021. The two Memphis natives made memorable appearances on Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, the recent PRE compilation tape: SNUPE shined on his solo showcase I Know Why,” and connected with Joddy Badass for the sensual “I Like,” while Woo flashed his mastery of flow in “Fully Equipt.”

  • Boy’s a liar.” Initially teasing the electro-pop track with a snippet in October, PinkPantheress released the song in November and it’s gone on to rack up over 325K creations. The TikTok community resonates with the lyric “That boy’s a liar” as they reflect on failed relationships and relationships that never happened. Celebrities like Jordyn Woods and Khalid are catching on, with Jordyn using the song to soundtrack her GRWM for the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water and Khalid using it to soundtrack his parking lot boogie moment. On her own account, PinkPantheress used “Boy’s a liar” to express her gratitude for the incredible impact her fans on TikTok have made on her career.
  • Valentine’s Day may be months away but love is in the air on TikTok. Sparked by H.E.R.’s dreamy 2017 track “Every Kind Of Way” (112K+ creations), creators write options of things to do and places to go on note cards and pieces of paper for their partners to blindly choose and create a day of fun. While some creators participate in the trend to give their partner a relaxing day, others participate in it to trick their partner into doing chores around the house. The song also soundtracks creations from those who want to do the trend with their partners or adorable toddlers, but also really want to go to Texas Roadhouse and Starbucks.
  • Baile funk, the energetic genre of hard-hitting electronic music that originated in Brazil, is massively popular on TikTok all over the globe, with WZ Beats’ funk-inspired “Beat Automotivo Tan Tan Viral” reaching TikTok’s Top 10 Tracks of 2022. Baile Funk is having a major moment on TikTok this week, led by “Tubarão Te Amo,” a danceable banger by DJ LK da Escócia & Tchakabum & MC Ryan SP. The song is at the center of a “Dance Battle” trend, in which creators at home, at graduation, or at The Louvre, hit an aggressive, arm-swinging dance. “Tubarão Te Amo” kicked into extra gear with the start of the World Cup, with fans using the dance to celebrate goals and wins by their favorite teams. Just last week, Brazil’s national soccer team celebrated a goal as a group by hitting the “Tubarão” dance during their World Cup victory over Switzerland. The dance has propelled “Tubarão Te Amo” to major streaming success–the song has over 41 million streams on Spotify alone, and recently reached #2 on the service’s U.S. Viral 50 chart.
  • Legendary rapper Lil Wayne just scored his first Diamond-selling single, with over 10 million units sold. His 2008 #1 hit single “Lollipop” crossed the threshold just this week, and in a recent video, the artist gave partial credit to TikTok’s “Lollipop” Challenge for helping push the song over the finish line. With over 595k video creations on TikTok, it’s clear that the sugary rap song will remain a part of the cultural lexicon for years to come.

Metro & The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Baile Funk and More TikTok Trends to Warm Up The Winter

    12.14.2022

TikTok Treats, Week of December 12th

Lady Gaga Goes Wednesday Addams, Metro Boomin & The Weeknd Creep On The Low, Baile Funk Booms, and More From Music On TikTok

Check out this week’s trends below

    • From Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” from The Batman to Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” from Stranger Things, TikTok creators love to express their love for their favorite movies and TV by sharing and creating videos to the tune of music from their soundtracks. The latest TikTok obsession is Wednesday, the new Tim Burton-produced Addams Family series on Netflix. In a pivotal scene from the series, the titular character, portrayed by Jenna Ortega, performs a flailing and expressive dance to “Goo Goo Muck,” a 1981 cover of a classic garage rock single by legendary punk band The Cramps. With over 80k video creations to date, “Goo Goo Muck” is the go-to soundtrack for anyone attempting to mimic the choreography from Wednesday’s big dance, ranging from cosplayers to high school teachers, or to flash back to their favorite Addams Family moments. In an interesting phenomenon, many TikTok creators do their version of the dance to the tune of a sped-up version of “Bloody Mary,” the 2011 single by Lady Gaga. With over 1.9 million video creations, “Bloody Mary” has become a phenomenon, with Mother Monster herself joining the trend in a video that generated over 8 million views. The newfound attention is benefitting both The Cramps and Lady Gaga, as “Goo Goo Muck” reached the Top 10 of Spotify’s U.S. Viral 50 and Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” reached the Top 25.
    • The holiday season typically finds us all in the mood for heartwarming stories and messages of appreciation for our loved ones. Drawing inspiration from Billie Eilish’s acoustic ballad “TV” (585.1k+ total creations), the TikTok community celebrates the time spent with their family and friends. Using Billie’s touching lyrics, “I’ll be in denial for at least a little while/What about the plans we made,” creators document bittersweet moments of gifting their nieces jewelry from a lost parent, watch their adorable children learn to dance, and reflect on the memories shared with their exes. Billie also interacted with the sound on her own TikTok page, sharing a video of herself laying on a hammock.
    • 21 Savage, and The Weeknd’s “Creepin” inspired TikTok’s music lovers to explore the origins of the track. Boasting over 25.7K+ creations, the Mario Winans-sampling track finds creators describing how ‘90s babies listen to The Weeknd’s verse, humorously reenact the creative process behind the song, and reveal the original sample source. In other videos, creators use The Weeknd’s soulful hook to refuse to learn more from co-workers about their breakups or take criticism about their makeup.
    • PinkPantheress skyrocketed to fame on the back of the TikTok success of  songs like “Just for me” and “Break It Off,” and now the British singer-songwriter is taking the platform by storm once again with her song “Boy’s a liar.” Initially teasing the electro-pop track with a snippet in October, PinkPantheress released the song in November and it’s gone on to rack up over 325K creations.

Legendary rapper Lil Wayne just scored his first Diamond-selling single, with over 10 million units sold.

Hear Young Dolph’s New Single “Old Ways,” ‘Paper Route Frank’ Tracklist Revealed

    12.13.2022

Young Dolph’s Estate and Paper Route Empire Share “Old Ways,” the Latest Single From Paper Route Frank, out 12/16

Young Dolph Completed the Paper Route Frank Album Before His Passing; Presented with Minimal Alterations, Paper Route Frank is Available on December 16th via Paper Route Empire

The New Album Features Guest Spots from Key Glock, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and PRE’s Big Moochie Grape and SNUPE BANDZ, Plus Production from a Litany of Southern Rap Greats, Including Bandplay, Sosa 808, Dun Deal, Drumma Boy & More

    The Announcement:

Young Dolph’s boisterous lyricism helped him build a Paper Route Empire and change the face of hip-hop. On the newly-released song Old Ways,” released today by Dolph’s estate and PRE, the artist displays the commanding delivery and precise punchlines that made him an icon. Steamrolling a sparkling beat from his frequent collaborator BandPlay, using a sample from “Darlin Darlin Baby” by The O’Jays, Dolph emphatically proves that the money he’s made didn’t change his dedication to the hustle or his taste in music: “She think that I’m still stuck in my old ways/God damn I love the trap, I miss the old days/Ride around in the Bonneville with my throwaway/Now I make millions, I might just listen to the O’Jays.” Effortlessly quotable and impossibly hard, “Old Ways” is a sterling addition to Dolph’s formidable discography.

“Old Ways” arrives alongside the newly-revealed tracklist Paper Route Frank, the upcoming posthumous album by Young Dolph. Spanning 13 tracks, Paper Route Frank drips with the same commanding charisma and booming Tennessee bass that define Dolph’s impeccable catalog. Paper Route Frank welcomes an expertly-curated list of guest stars, each of whom had a personal relationship with the rapper: Dolph’s cousin and frequent rap partner Key Glock returns to spar, Glock’s fellow PRE signees Big Moochie Grape and SNUPE BANDZ make an impression in their verses, Gucci Mane puts his stamp on “Roster,” and 2 Chainz, one of the few in the game who could match Dolph punchline for punchline, makes his presence known on “Beep Beep.”

2022 was a cathartic and productive for Paper Route Empire, the label Dolph built from the ground up, as the label’s artist spent the year going as hard as possible in Dolph’s name. On Dolph Day, Dolph’s cousin and PRE heavy-hitter Key Glock shared PRE5L, a ferocious EP that proves yet again that the future of the empire is in good hands. The year started with Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, a label compilation album that features touching tributes to Dolph from almost every artist on the label, from rising stars like Big Moochie Grape to relative newcomers like Paper Route Woo. The project is home to “Proud,” a moving and defiant single from Key Glock, which earned over 4 million views in its first 3 days of release and garnered praise from The New York Times.

Stay tune for Paper Route Frank, coming this Friday, December 16th via Paper Route Empire.

Chief Keef to Release Finally Rich (Complete Edition) on December 16th

My Favorite Color and Valee Network Like Cartoons in “Man Man”

    12.12.2022

Video: My Favorite Color  – “Man Man” ft. Valee

The Two Rappers Connect For a Hazy and Offbeat Anthem, Complete With an Inventive Animated Video

    Critical Praise:

Best New Artist for September 2021: It’s clear My Favorite Color is okay not taking himself too seriously and letting the music speak for itself.” – Pigeons & Planes

“The Pittsburgh MC once again flashes signs of brilliance on his new song ‘Old News.’ His zany personality and frenetic flow are the main drivers of his fun-filled anthem.” – Billboard

“He truly brings you on a sonic journey that contains so many different styles, sounds, and narratives, you have no choice but to pay attention.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“His music is powerful. Each bar drips with the confusion and existential dread of a man who feels out of place in his world.” – Noisey

    The Video:

Rising rapper My Favorite Color turns heads with offbeat flows and cleverly constructed punchlines. Teaming up with a fellow flowsmith for a woozy and dreamy new anthem, My Favorite Color shares Man Man,” and its new animated music video. Navigating a seasick, synth-heavy instrumental from Cam Raleigh, the new song finds My Favorite Color trading verses with Valee, a kindred spirit of MFC’s who also specializes in attacking beats from odd angles. The Rostrum Records signee takes the first turn on the mic, purposefully pushing the envelope with outrageous lyrics, dipping into Valee’s famous “Two 16s” flow as he rhymes: “This b*tch knows she’s perfect, but I treat her like a 8/N**** want some smoke, then Ima treat him like an eighth/All this ice like figure 8’s/My white bitch look like Sharon Tate.” Valee parachutes in with a halting cadence, his whispery flow blending perfectly with the pillowy atmosphere: “Pouring up lean on a plane I’m flying for real/I’m flying in a hellcat like it’s a Bonneville.”

“Man Man” arrives along with an inventive animated video, directed by Austin Linkinhoker, whose quirky and psychedelic vision suits the music to a tee. The colorful new video follows My Favorite Color’s career as a class clown in a high school setting, as he flirts with baddies in detention and writes out his lyrics on the chalkboard. Valee pops in halfway through the video to add his two cents and provide a new visual dimension to the organized chaos. “Man Man” is the latest in a long line of inventive videos from My Favorite Color, including most recently the ’90s sitcom-themed “Mama’s House,” the mannequin-filled “Cut Me In,” and 2021’s “Old News.” The creativity on display in “Old News,” in which the artist portrayed multiple characters a la Eddie Murphy, ranging from a kidnap victim, to a possibly untrained pilot, to a truth-telling stand-up comedian, inspired Pigeons & Planes to name him a Best New Artist in September 2021.

Hailing from Pittsburgh and based in L.A., My Favorite Color never paints with the same hue twice. The rapper has kept busy in 2022 by releasing sonically diverse tracks like “Dead It” and “Frustrated.” He is currently hard at work on his next project, an effort that keeps up the experimental spirit even as it properly continues the story he started with his heartfelt 2020 debut album Velma. Stay tuned for much more music and eye-popping videos from My Favorite Color in the coming weeks and months.

Xavier Wulf Refuses to Relent in “Still Will’ Video

    12.12.2022

Video: Xavier Wulf – “Still Will

The Memphis Rap Maverick Busts Donuts in the Lot in New Video for the Hitkidd-Produced Standout from Blood Shore Season 3

    The Video:

Like the souped up rides he whips with a passion, Xavier Wulf is built for performance. Returning to fulfill his promises, the Hollow Squad head honcho shares his new video for “Still Will,” the Hitkidd-produced highlight from his Blood Shore Season 3 mixtape, released in October. Over a brooding instrumental that meshes Xavier’s signature Memphis sound with Saturday morning superhero cartoon themes, “Still Will” finds Xavier posturing himself as a man who’s long been on a mission and will never stop: “I was ditching class, smoking gas with my brother since/9th grade, with a Boosie fade, I was killing sh*t.”

The ShotByMiggy-directed video for “Still Will” is steeped in the stock car aesthetic of things and machines that go bumping in the Memphis night. Throughout the clip, Xavier shifts gears from his garage filled with custom builds to the empty nighttime highway where he leads his convoy of cruisers, to vacant lots where donuts by the dozen are glazed with burnt rubber. The video is as candidly cool as it gets, letting Xavier’s rhymes guide the way through a night in the underground lifestyle of a true original.

Continuing his fan-favorite mixtape series, Blood Shore Season 3 deposits new listeners and loyal fans into Xavier’s shadowy underworld of souped-up sports cars and stacks of cash. The underground king carries himself like a roguish anti-hero, as he slithers through brooding production by HitkiddWhoTheHellIsCarlo, and many others. The new tape is the sequel to 2014’s acclaimed Blood Shore Season 2, home to “Psycho Pass,” which earned renewed attention on TikTok in the past year and earned GOLD certification in October with over 100 million streams on Spotify alone.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and deeply steeped in his home city’s musical tradition, Xavier Wulf had a hand in nearly every major underground rap movement in the past decade. Wulf was one of the first rappers to build a following on SoundCloud, helping make the platform the go-to for aspiring rappers and establishing it as a hub of hip-hop innovation. Throughout his career, Wulf has criss-crossed the invisible line between underground and mainstream, racking up hundreds of millions of streams, and playing to sold out crowds across the country. This year, Wulf killed it on his 29-date “The Midnight Club Tour – Dub Edition,” and shut it down with a primetime set at Rolling Loud New York this fall. In late 2021, Wulf collabed with Hollow Squad producer Quintin Lamb for the high-octane GARAGE PUNK EP.

Pushing his sound forward with every release, Xavier Wulf’s artistic journey is nowhere near finished. Stay tuned for much more from Xavier Wulf as he gears up for another year of dominance.

    The Background:

Xavier Wulf is a man possessed. When he has a dream or sets a goal, it consumes him. When he hears a beat, it takes over his body, commanding him to speak, shout, and let out the rage. As an artist and a person, he is quite literally driven by something beyond himself — maybe that’s a little on the nose for a rapper known for his deep love of street racing and drifting, but it’s also an apt description for his process. When Xavier clicks with an instrumental, he closes his eyes, puts the lyrical pedal to the floor, and lets it all out, following whatever road feels right.

DC The Don Gets Lovesick on “Poison”

    12.12.2022

    Video: DC The Don -“Poison

The Rostrum Records Artist Rides a Hyperpop Rollercoaster of Emotion in a New Video Single as He Prepares for the Upcoming Album FUNERAL

    Critical Praise:

“Not only can he sing with so much emotion behind his words, but he also knows how to masterfully rap as well as switch up his cadences constantly, always keeping you guessing about what he’s going to do next.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“Los Angeles by way of Milwaukee’s DC The Don is part rapper, part rockstar, excelling in the melodic and riotous lane popularized by cult heroes like Lil Uzi Vert and Trippie Redd.” – Audiomack

    The Video:

With his infectious energy, relatable rhymes, and unique aesthetic, DC The Don is ready to shake the game up like a Tilt-a-Whirl. Leaning into his strength for channeling childlike wonder into his venting of adult stresses, the Rostrum Records artist shares his new video for “Poison,” the latest single from his upcoming FUNERAL album. Over a cacophony of hyper-pop infused production, the track finds DC walking the emotional tightrope between moving on and falling back into a toxic relationship: “Your love is poison but I treat it like it’s medical/And I’m not the only one but girl, you left me skeptical.”

The video for “Poison” is a perfectly fitting visual metaphor for rebuilding a broken heart in the wake of an ill-fated relationship. Taking a solo trip to a carnival, DC arrives with youthful excitement and a glowing smile, ready to be the one playing games this time around. Enlisting his stuffed animal prize to keep him company, DC takes a rollercoaster ride as his mind navigates the highs and lows of his ex-lover. Yet, he never loses that sense of exuberance, knowing that what goes up must come down, but it’s still worth it just to ride that ferris wheel.

The new video single arrives as DC The Don prepares to release FUNERAL this winter. He is currently making stops across the U.S. and Canada on “FUNERAL Tour,“ which kicked off in late October. The tour has been a rousing success, selling out shows in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Philly, New Jersey, Colorado, Montreal, and more. With more tour stops to come in Dallas, Miami, and more, DC concludes the “FUNERAL Tour” in Houston later this month.

“Poison” follows in the wake of “ALL I KNOW” and “SUICIDE” ft. midwxst in DC’s stretch of new singles since releasing My Own Worst Enemy, his second studio album, in February. The project, which has racked up over 53 million streams on all platforms to date, tells a loose narrative about DC’s inner conflict, which manifests as a battle between two distinct personalities: the wholesome RAG3 KIDD and the demonic DONNY. Blending elements of rap, pop-punk, hyperpop, and more, MOW3 percolates with the energy of a young artist testing the limits of what he’s capable of accomplishing–and having fun while doing it.

Stay tuned for more from the young artist, including his upcoming tour and third album FUNERAL, as his star continues to rise!

    The Background:

DC The Don is a rapper from Milwaukee, WI. In 2016, at the age of 16 and standing 6’7”, DC moved to Los Angeles to pursue a basketball career under Lavar Ball and alongside teammate LaMelo Ball. During this time, he fell in love with music and used his spare time to make experimental records which suddenly gained traction – As the public became increasingly aware of DC The Don’s talent for rapping, NBA player Lonzo Ball featured his song “Everything 1k” on the first Big Baller Brand shoe commercial, introducing DC The Don’s music to an even wider audience. DC signed to Rostrum Records in 2020, releasing his debut album Come As You Are on August 7th, generating over 125 million streams across platforms. The artist looks to reach another level with My Own Worst Enemy, his ambitious new album, available everywhere now.

  • Press Release

Kenzo Balla & Kyle Richh Ring the Alarm in “PSA” Video

    12.9.2022

Video: Kenzo Balla – “PSA” ft. Kyle Richh

The Bronx Bruiser Shares New Video Single for Jersey Club-Infused Drill Banger from Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe), Arriving on December 16th

    Critical Praise

“…few songs feel as dutifully assembled as ‘Krash Out.’ As the sample gradually uncoils, Kenzo slashes right through the center. A weird phenomenon seems to happen, the rap equivalent of bullet time, where the listener gets an enhanced perception of the rapper’s speed relative to the world around him.” – NPR

    The Video:

If defense wins championships, Bronx blitzer Kenzo Balla’s jewelry box is about to get one ring heavier. Continuing his rookie season of dominance, Kenzo enlists Brooklyn’s 41 crew standout Kyle Richh to share “PSA,” the lead video single from his upcoming project Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe), coming on December 16th. Meshing the breathless beat of Jersey club with the frenzied flow of Bronx drill, “PSA” finds Kenzo and Kyle delivering a furious barrage of bars, resonating with an explosive hysteria worthy of its own emergency alert system for the opps.

The video for “PSA” sees Kenzo and Kyle domineering the open air as the cross-Borough collaborators find strength in numbers. Flanked by a bevy of baddies and homies alike, the energy of the clip is just as electric as the track itself, as they bust dance moves to the lightning-quick tempo of the Jersey Club beat. Never letting up on the intensity for so much as a breath, the message of this “PSA” can be understood as a warning: Brace for impact, because Kenzo’s ready to blitz.

Released in November, Mr. Ready to Blitz saw Kenzo leverage his devastating explosiveness across 14 tracks, including recent singles like the high-octane, NPR-approved “Krash Out,” and the Cito Blick and Pdot Savv-assisted “Don’t Panic.” On “Feel The Rage,” Kenzo bursts onto an endearingly melancholic drill instrumental with the headstrong momentum of a mammoth nose tackle like Vince Wilfork, while more fast-paced cuts like the Rayy Balla-featured “Go Kuu” highlight Kenzo’s elusive agility as he flashes through instrumental pockets like Troy Polamalu.

TG Crippy & Pdot Sav (2 million video views), “OOTAZ,” and the “Love Nwantiti”-remixing Let Me Know” (1.8 million views). This summer, the former AAU baller tore up the streets with Dead Gzz,” a vicious, uptempo missive that racked up over 1.4 million video views since its release in June.

With a blistering EP in the books and the Deluxe on its way, Kenzo Balla emerges from his perch in the Bronx to blitz the rap game.
