Dro Kenji Craves Clarity on “HOW U FEEL?”

  • Press Release

Dro Kenji Craves Clarity on “HOW U FEEL?”

    10.27.2022

Video: Dro Kenji – “HOW U FEEL?

The South Carolina Star Paces and Pleads with a Precarious Partner in New Video Ahead of his “ANYWHERE BUT HERE Tour,” Kicking Off On October 30th; Including Co-Headlining Dates with Midwxst

    Critical Praise:

    “His future is bright”XXL

“South Carolina rock-infused rapper Dro Kenji has been on a tear since last August when he received a call from the Internet Money team. Releasing project after project, Kenji has been showcasing his impressive vocals and emotion-filled lyrics. With his newest project, “F*CK YOUR FEELINGS”, we see Kenji’s most confident and cohesive work.” – Earmilk

“Once he selects a beat, the melodies and lyrics flood over him like an epiphany. The result is raw and heart-sinking music, meant to be a guiding light to fans.”  – Audiomack

    The Video:

Filtering raw emotion through his expressive vocal tenor, Dro Kenji’s rich melodies have propelled him on an unwavering path to stardom. A candid illustration of the ills that plague him, Kenji shares a new clip for “HOW U FEEL?” the latest visual thriller from his recent project ANYWHERE BUT HERE. The track’s macabre production, courtesy of CensusTaz TaylorCD.mp3, and DxnnyFxntom, fuses delicate piano with sharp percussion, evoking the defenseless shiver of a cold breeze without a warm blanket, as Kenji makes his plea: “Tell me how you feel ’cause I’ve been under a spell/Tell me how you feel ’bout all the pain you’ve dealt.”

Directed by Keaton Jones of Dorm Room Entertainment, the video for “HOW U FEEL?” animates the chilling exposure emanating throughout the track. The clip jumps between cuts of a restless Kenji pacing around the snow-white interior of his home with the thin protection of a black turtleneck, and a fatigued Kenji moving through a seemingly infinite hallway bathed in lavender hues, as its cinder-block walls create a sense of claustrophobic pressure. Even when he stops for a smoke in the purple-lit corridor, or lounges on the spotless white sheets of his comfortable bed, his heartbreak affords him no respite.

Home to the buzzing Mike Dimes-featured track “STEP BACK,” and featuring appearances from fellow rising stars like MidwxstKa$hdami, and NoCap, the 13-track ANYWHERE BUT HERE captures the breadth of Kenji’s ever-improving artistry. On “SO WHAT” ft. DC The Don, Kenji injects his melodies with monstrous energy, while “CIGAR” captures a fatigued ferocity as Kenji howls his heartache at the moon. When presented with cinematic instrumentals from Internet Money producers like Census and his MiraTouch label head Nick Mira, Kenji rises to the occasion, belting lovelorn relationship tales and diabolical flexes through his full-bodied tenor.

Just 20-years-old, Dro Kenji has amassed a sizable discography. Determined to hustle his way to new heights, the young rapper is improving with every release–ANYWHERE BUT HERE arrived as Kenji’s third of 2022, following WITH OR WITHOUT YOU and the recent LOST IN HERE EP, which arrived on DSPs earlier this month. The South Carolina native is following up a breakout 2021, during which he released two albums and the hit single “KILL CUPID” ft. $NOT (23+ million Spotify streams).

Sit back and stay tuned as Dro Kenji continues his ascent to the highest echelons of the rap game and prepares for his upcoming nationwide “ANYWHERE BUT HERE Tour.”

    The Background:

Dro Kenji’s rise is a testament to the power of the internet. Last year, the 19-year-old artist was a senior in high school in South Carolina, releasing a string of captivating singles and mixtapes on his SoundCloud. Now, he’s preparing to release his debut album on Mira Touch/ Internet Money Records/ 10K Projects, collaborating closely with the label’s team of platinum-certified producers, and hoping to earn some plaques of his own. A true child of the digital age, raised on video games and the lo-fi sounds of rap’s online underground, he has a remarkable ability to capture both the apathy and aspiration of his generation in his songs and a spellbinding voice with which to tell these stories.

SNUPE BANDZ and Paper Route Woo Are Memphis-Proud on “Mold Me”

    10.26.2022

SNUPE BANDZ & PaperRoute Woo – “Mold Me

Paper Route Empire’s Hottest Duo Show How Their City Shaped Them In The Latest Video From Their BOYZ N THE HOOD Mixtape

    The Video:

Standing out with their percolating chemistry and boastful bars, SNUPE BANDZ and PaperRoute Woo are one of the hottest duos emerging from the South. They stay true to their Memphis roots on “Mold Me,” the newest music video from their joint mixtape Boyz N The Hood. Going bar for bar over a haunting yet atmospheric piano instrumental, SNUPE and Woo tell their out-the-mud origin stories. Woo makes it clear that no one can change his hustling ways, rapping, “Young n**** from the gutta/F**k college I’m a hustla/Real n**** you a sucka/Never changin’ on my brotha,” while SNUPE honors the memory of Young Dolph and his Memphis heritage, affirming, “I’m from Castalia, n***a Dolph land/South Memphis baby runnin’ with the clan/Out the trap I been playin’ with them rubber bands.” In the video, the duo make a pilgrimage to Castalia Heights, the neighborhood in Memphis that Young Dolph called home. While they perform their song,  they flash back to memories of turnt up performances, sage advice from Dolph, and liaisons with their crew outside Memphis’ Castalia SuperMarket.

Showcasing their complimentary styles, with SNUPE as the effortlessly high-flying stunner and Woo as the domineering hard-nosed tactician, Boyz N The Hood is a potent introduction to the duo, who’ve been standouts in the Memphis scene for years. With high-energy features from Arkansas’ own Bankroll Freddie and the crunkstar himself, Duke DeuceBoyz N The Hood is available everywhere now via Paper Route Empire.

SNUPE BANDZ and PaperRoute Woo have a long history of collaborations, dating back to 2020’s “In My Bag” and continuing through last year’s “Pop Out,” which drew 1.8 million YouTube views. Both SNUPE and Woo joined their mentor Young Dolph on “Nothing To Me,” a standout single from last year’s PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi mixtape, generating over 8.9 million views, and they later took the stage in remembrance of their role model during a tribute set at Rolling Loud California 2021. The two Memphis natives made memorable appearances on Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, the recent PRE compilation tape: SNUPE shined on his solo showcase I Know Why,” and connected with Joddy Badass for the sensual “I Like,” while Woo flashed his mastery of flow in “Fully Equipt.”

So whether you’re an aspiring musician, established artist or bedroom singer, you can take part in StemDrop and create your own unique version of “Red Lights.”

    StemDrop FAQs:

What is Red Lights about and who wrote it?

    • Red Lights was written by Max Martin, multiple Grammy-Award winning songwriter, Savan Kotecha, who is behind massive hits for One Direction, Ariane Grande and Katy Perry and Ali Payami, who has produced and co-written with Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.
    • As described by Savan Kotecha:“‘Red Lights’ is a song about the kind of love and connection that won’t go away no matter how many people tell you it’s wrong or how bad things get. Once you’ve been with that person, nothing else feels right. “Running Red Lights” is a metaphor for the kind of love that will always be able to pull you back no matter where you are. Something we’ve all been through before.”

    How can creators get involved?

    • The stems (the individual components of the song) of a 60-second version of “Red Lights” by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha & Ali Payami is now available on TikTok
    • The stems can be accessed by the TikTok community in two ways:
      • StemDrop Mixer: Designed by Samsung, this is a special in-app branded effect where creators of all levels can experiment with the stems, including individual effects, harmonies and melodies. For best results, don’t use headphones.
      • StemDrop Official Website: For tech savvy artists & producers, who can download the official stems via a website hosted by Universal Music Group to create on the software of your choice here.
    • Creators can use either of these tools to create, record and share their creations using the hashtag #StemDrop001 on TikTok.

    What next?

    • Follow the official StemDrop channel (@stemdrop), which will provide the community with a window into the StemDrop process. The channel will surface new artistic talent and shine a slight on new versions of the track being created around the world.
    • We’ll be sharing regular updates for press with the StemDrop tracks and artists that are taking off on TikTok.

Morray – “Still Here” ft. Cordae
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Using his church-trained voice, melodic mastery, and incisive pen, Morray speaks for those going through the struggle. On his 2022 single “Still Here,” the rapper teamed up with a fellow Grammy-nominated NC native in Cordae, as both artists poured their hearts out over layered guitars and hard-hitting trap percussion. Morray opens the song with a emotional hook about his attempts to find liberation while still playing in the rap game, and Cordae follows with a thoughtful and penitent verse about his upbringing and his desire to keep it real: “Oh Lord, Oh Lord I heard you/Found myself and I’m searchin’/We been sinnin’ but won’t do it on purpose,” says Cordae. The Fayetteville, NC native follows up the Raleigh, NC native with a verse of his own, as he speaks on the stressful life of an artist on the move

Lil Zay Osama – “F*ck My Cousin Pt. 2” ft. Lil Durk
press release | youtube | spotify | apple
They say blood runs thicker than water, but in 2022, Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama proved that family ties don’t supersede the iron laws of the streets. Zay’s song “F*ck My Cousin” became an anthem in his hometown, drawing enough local attention to catch the ear of Lil Durk, who hopped on the remix. Aligned in spirit, intent, and city, Lil Zay Osama and Durk emit the ethos of the South Side, flaunting natural chemistry that can only come from the genuine brotherhood. It may be their first collaboration since 2019, but their connection is stronger than ever. “F*ck My Cousin Pt. 2” was a vicious highlight from Trench Baby 3, Lil Zay Osama’s mixtape, out now via Warner Records.

Central Cee – “L.A. Leakers Freestyle”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Whether you say “what’s up” or “wagwan,” or trap out of a vacant “apartment” or “flat,” Central Cee wants you to know he’s speaking your language. During a viral freestyle delivered on the L.A. Leakers Show, Central Cee looked to bridge the gap between U.S. and UK slang, cleverly comparing the lexicons used by rappers in each country. Though the styles are different, Cench proves in a succinct three minutes that the two scenes are not so different after all. Leave it to the UK’s biggest riser to.

Trapland Pat – “Big Business” (Remix) ft. Rick Ross
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

With the versatility to set a vibe on any instrumental, Trapland Pat is an artist for all occasions. Earning a co-sign from the Sunshine State’s sunglass-clad jefe, Pat recruited Rick Ross for Big Business (Remix).” Built around the bouncy piano rolls of Pat’s constant collaborator Pepper Jack Zoe, “Big Business” first saw release in 2021, and quickly became Pat’s breakout hit. Exuding easy confidence and packed with off-beat wordplay (“If you need a loan, you gotta pay me interest/No cappery/ Call the weed man, ’cause this shit here swappery”) the song racked up over 4 million YouTube views and earned recognition from Passion Of The Weiss, who ranked the song #18 on its list of Best Rap Songs of 2021. On the remix, Rick Ross slides like the booming-voiced boss he is, rhyming about carrying extendos in his fresh Rolls Royce and old school Box Chevy.

Along with his acclaimed project Trapnificent, “Big Business” (Remix) establishes Pat as one of the most exceptional talents in the bustling South Florida scene. Just one look at his radiant smile proves that he’s far from finished.

DUSTY LOCANE – “Rollin N Controllin Pt. 3 (Been Rollin)”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Two years after he broke into the music industry, the DUSTY LOCANE train rolls along. The Canarsie native impressed once again with the latest installment in his signature series. “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN Pt. 3” finds a 23-year-old DUSTY reminding listeners who they’re dealing with through a more refined, resonant roar: “I ain’t never d*** ride, switch sides, just for a favor/Try to go against mine, brought six nines, if he tellin’ in the paper.”

The MIDAS-directed video for “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN Pt.3” finds DUSTY and his blue-clad cohort mobbing out in Washington D.C. Whether he’s flanked by his bandana-waving contingent, standing on his own, or riding around the city in a black Escalade, it’s clear that even in our nation’s Capitol, the only one who represents DUSTY is himself.

MIA GLADSTONE – “Talking Online” ft. Belis
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Unbound by genre convention or traditional song structure, MIA GLADSTONE‘s warped music appeal to the brain’s intellect and pleasure centers in equal measure. Taking a tuneful, yet uncompromising look at how a young queer woman navigates a digital life, “TALKING ONLINE” is throught-provoking, hip-shaking ear candy. Produced by Mia herself, the electric piano-laden track spans an eventful three minutes, complete with complex chord changes, multiple tempo switches, and dueling lyrical perspectives. After indulging the boor for a short time, Mia flips the script and ups the tempo as she tells the lechers to pipe down, laying down a rhyme that perceptively touches on the fragmented communication that dominates this age.

A highlight from MIA’s eclectic new project LOOPY, “TALKING ONLINE” arrives with a boundary-pushing music video that takes an unflinching look at the horror of modern communication culture. Directed by William Alan Harris, the video for “TALKING ONLINE” mixes the ultra-modern subject matter with aesthetics that harken back to the grainy VHS era and the psychedelic 60s. Though the video paints a nightmarish picture, MIA remains defiant, determined to thumb her haters’ noses by living her truth.

For Your Year-End Consideration: AT’s Best Songs of 2022

These Songs Took Over The Streets, Trended on TikTok, and Climbed Charts, and We Believe They Deserve Some Year-End List Love!

Since Audible Treats formed in 2004, a lot in the music industry has changed. Hip-Hop has grown more melodic, drill music has proliferated worldwide, and TikTok is ground zero for new artists and inescapable hits. One thing hasn’t changed: our team is committed to sifting through the noise and serving up undeniable bangers. Our most notable songs of 2022 include Billboard Hot 100 hits, viral smashes, and multiple odes to a certain “Say So” pop star. Each one of these songs has permeated the culture.

Whether you favor baddie anthems, demonic drill, or boldly inclusive reggaeton, we have just the track for you. Please take a listen and consider them for your “Best Songs of 2022” lists.

    xoxo,
    The Audible Treats Team

    The Songs:

    Central Cee – “Doja”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Central Cee can captivate audiences with a single phrase, crafting quotable rhymes that seep into the culture. The cheeky opening line of “Doja” helped the song become a viral phenomenon (over 150 million total streams and over 500k creations on TikTok), but the full song demonstrates why Cench is the hottest rising star in the UK. Sliding over the familiary guitar melody with effortless cool, Cench demonstrates the poise and promise of a rising rapper on top of his game: “The mandem celebrate Eid, the trap still runnin’ on Christmas day.”

“Doja” was the high watermark of an astoundingly successful year for Central Cee. His February 2022 mixtape 23 debuted at #1 on the UK Official Charts, but none of the singles from the album reached the heights of “Doja,” which debuted at #2 on the charts and stayed in the upper reaches for weeks. The song’s video marked a major moment for Cench and his home coutnry’s rap scene: “Doja” was the first song by any UK rapper to earn a video from Cole Bennett and a debut on his Lyrical Lemonade channel (66 million views).

Ice Spice – “Munch (Feelin U)”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

“You thought I was feelin’ you?”

With that six word phrase, a star was born. Hailing from the Bronx (“so I got it from nothin’,” she asserts in her viral On The Radar freestyle), the arrival of “Munch” heralded a new era of New York drill, one defined by Ice Spice’s blasé bars, soft-spoken flow, and “you can’t sit with us” demeanor. Pared down to the bare essentials, the minimalist beat by frequent collaborator RIOTUSA allows Ice Spice to showcase her personality, her soft-spoken wit and laid-back ferocity shining through.

The song earned a notable co-sign from Drake, but the accolades didn’t end there: the song earned breathless praise from PitchforkThe New York Times, and more, and earned the attention of fellow Bronx native Cardi B. With 18 million streams on Spotify and nearly 500k video creations on TikTok, “Munch” is a powerful and playful opening salvo from an artist who will be with us for a long time.

Young Dolph – “Hall of Fame”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

If rap had a Hall Of Fame, Young Dolph would reach it on the first ballot. The iconic Memphis native passed away last year, but he left behind a prolific catalog of hard-hitting bangers, countless memorable lines, and a thriving Paper Route Empire. Produced by his stalwart collaborator Bandplay, Dolph’s first posthumous single “Hall Of Fame” is a testament to his towering legacy, packed with the high-end flexes for which Dolph is known, but mixing in subtle, yet potent moments of sincerity revealing the heart behind the hustle: “When I was 16, I said ‘It ain’t even about me no more’/This PRE on my chest, it’s a multi-million dollar logo.”

Dolph’s presence loomed large over the year, which saw releases from nearly every artist on the Paper Route Empire roster. His fans streamed his catalog more than ever before–Young Dolph was one of the Top 75 most streamed artists in 2022, with over 1 billion on-demand plays to his name.

    #LongLiveDolph

    $NOT – “Doja” ft. A$AP Rocky
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Lashing out at the world from behind his ever-present hoodie, $NOT sublimates his antisocial tendencies into aggressively catchy rap songs. The 24-year-old artist’s meteoric rise attracted the attention of A$AP Rocky, who executive-produced the acclaimed Ethereal album and lent his vocal talents to “Doja,” a confrontational banger that played to both artists’ strengths. Produced by Dee B, “Doja” is a bass-boosted banger that finds $NOT wilding out over sirenic vocal samples and speaker-knocking 808s, shouting down his haters with four-letter epithets. On the song’s second verse, Rocky slides in with a supernatural calm, assaulting the upbeat with assonant syllables. The song arrived with a video directed by HIDJI, a member of Rocky’s AWGE collective.

“Doja” caused a stir upon its release, trending on Twitter at midnight shortly after it dropped, and catching the attention of Doja Cat herself. “Doja” debuted at #87 on the Hot 100, making it $NOT’s first Hot 100 placement as a lead artist, and has generated over 50 million streams on Spotify alone.

Joyce Santana – “Besties” (Remix) ft. Young Miko, YOVNGCHIMI, Villano Antillano, and Luar La L
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

A rising artist who impresses with his pen and his pipes, Joyce Santana is one of the standout talents in a flourishing Puerto Rico music scene. The Rimas Ent. artist united with another PR rising star in the spring when he recruited Young Miko for “Besties,” a percolating club banger that caught fire on the island. For the supersized “Besties” (Remix), Joyce and Miko return, but also welcome a new verse Villano Antillano, the first trans woman rapper to make waves in the reggaeton scene who recently earned notice in Rolling Stone, as well as standout performances from red hot reggaetonero Luar La L and rising trap star YOVNGCHIMI.

“This is not for ‘culture’, this goes much further,” said Joyce Santana upon the song’s release“This is possibly the biggest thing I’ve done in my entire career so far, this is HISTORY. This is dedicated to all minorities. To my black brothers and sisters who have always been marginalized and who I will represent until the last day as that is what I came for. To my brothers and sisters from the LGBTQIA community who have to live day by day and go through more than those who single them out for nothing could bear, and to my people from the neighborhood who have always had to resort to whatever it takes to survive in this society that It is controlled by the one with $ and godfather, but those are sometimes the real poor people.”

    Key Glock – “Proud”
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Losing a loved one is never easy. Last November, the world lost a legend, a family lost a husband and father, and Key Glock lost his close friend and mentor, the man who plucked him from the streets of Memphis and set him on the path to stardom. On “Proud,” the standout track from Paper Route Empire’s Long Live Dolph compilation tape, Key Glock delves deep into his feelings, processing his sadness and resolving to honor Young Dolph’s memory by going as hard as he can. No matter what he does, Glock knows that Dolph sees him and is proud of what he’s become.

Lil Gnar – “Almighty Gnar” ft. Chief Keef
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Atlanta multi-hyphenate Lil Gnar‘s iconoclastic attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, and raw rhyme skills prompted Chief Keef to make him his first signee to his new 43B imprint. The two iconoclasts celebrated the impending 43B takeover with “Almighty Gnar,” a titanic beat-switching banger that showcases the unique skills of both rappers. Marked by menacingly triumphant horn fanfares, horror film synths, and hyperactive snares, “Almighty Gnar” reverberates with a grandeur that befits this Godzilla vs. King Kong-like clash of the titans. Sosa leads off the song with a “bang bang,” serving up a stop-starting flow that only the Glo Gang chieftain could’ve conceived. After Keef’s verse, the beat shifts gears to make room for Gnar’s appealing rasp–the Atlanta rapper cycles between infectious flows as he stacks disrespectful flex after disrespectful flex during a supersized verse: “Lil Gnar like a doctor, he be medicated/I need my money now, I ain’t got no patience.”

King Von – “Don’t Play That” ft. 21 Savage
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

The legendary, late King Von was known for his crazy stories, but his acclaimed posthumous album What It Means To Be King proved once and for all that he had many more skills in his arsenal. “Don’t Play That,” the lead single from the album and one of the most successful songs in Von’s catalogue, was a spritely change of pace. Produced by Slaughter Gang’s Kid Hazel, “Don’t Play That” is a bouncy, whirring anthem that emphasizes Von’s playful side. A close friend of Von’s family who has always shown love, 21 Savage is an ideal sparring partner for Von, his deadpan demeanor a perfect foil to Von’s animated delivery.

“Don’t Play That” was an immediate success upon its release, generating 1.4M+ Apple Music streams, 1.2M+ Spotify streams, and 1.1M+ YouTube streams in just its first 24 hours of its release, good for a #40 debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Released in February, the song racked up over 66 million Spotify streams en route to earning GOLD certification from the RIAA in August.

Internet Money – “Flossin” ft. YoungBoy Never Broke Again
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Few in the music industry know how to navigate its precarious digital landscape better than the decorated artist-producer collective Internet Money and rap superstar YoungBoy Never Broke Again. It was only natural that these two unstoppable forces would eventually collaborate.

“Flossin” is a banger that lives up to the starpower behind its creation, YoungBoy’s bayou-bred sound and gives it the 4K treatment, layering glistening pianos over booming 808s and crisp handclaps, creating an ideal backdrop for the Baton Rouge native to talk his smack. YoungBoy sics himself on the track like a pit bull, alternating bluesy croons with snapping cadences as he explains how his high-flying lifestyle invites hangers-on and makes it hard for him to figure out who to trust.

One of the most streamed YoungBoy songs of the year (there were a lot!), “Flossin'” was included as a bonus track on YoungBoy’s mixtape Colors, and made a #72 debut on the Billboard Hot 100.

MIA GLADSTONE – “Talking Online” ft. Belis
press release | youtube | spotify | apple

Unbound by genre convention or traditional song structure, MIA GLADSTONE‘s warped music appeal to the brain’s intellect and pleasure centers in equal measure. Taking a tuneful, yet uncompromising look at how a young queer woman navigates a digital life, “TALKING ONLINE” is throught-provoking, hip-shaking ear candy. Rolling Loud Thailand was announced earlier this year at a star-studded press conference at CentralWorld Live in Bangkok, which included top government officials and performances from several notable personalities from Thailand’s music scene, including ThaitaniumYoung Ohm1millFIIXD and many more, plus American rapper Memphis Bleek. The press conference presented a vision of how the World’s Largest Hip-Hop Festival plans to bring its signature spectacle to The Land of Smiles. Promising some of the biggest names in hip-hop and some of the most exciting regional artists in a picturesque and vibrant location, Rolling Loud Thailand makes its debut on the beach in Pattaya on April 13th-15th2023.

Rolling Loud Thailand continues Rolling Loud’s international expansion, which kicked into high gear last year with Rolling Loud Portugal. Hosted on the beaches of Portimao in the Algarve in Portugal, Rolling Loud Portugal was a massive success, bringing headliners J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, and Future to top a bill packed with an international array of A-listers. With a venue and dates to be revealed soon, presale tickets Rolling Loud Portugal are available this Friday October 28th.

Rolling Loud had a massive 2022, hosting five festivals in four countries this year alone. Earlier this year, Rolling Loud threw its first-ever Canadian festival, Rolling Loud Toronto, headlined by FutureWizKid, and Dave. Rolling Loud hosted its flagship Rolling Loud Miami festival in July, gathering the culture for one of the most exciting events of the year, featuring headlining performances from Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and Future, plus special appearances from Ye and Travis Scott. Earlier in the summer, Rolling Loud made its European debut, hosting Rolling Loud Portugal and Rolling Loud x Woo Hah Fest, the brand’s first camping festival, in The Netherlands. Rolling Loud’s world tour continued in with Rolling Loud New York in September, headlined by Nicki MinajA$AP Rocky, and Future, and returns in 2023 with Rolling Loud California at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles.

Led by its founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud is the most powerful hip-hop festival in history. Stay tuned for many more announcements.

    Critical Praise:

“Rolling Loud has become the biggest hip-hop festival in the country” – Variety

“Built from scratch by lifelong music fans Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud’s early strengths were its daring curation and booking, elevating a new generation of artists with exciting live shows and captivating energy. Today, the biggest performers headline the raucous Miami festival, coming from all over the world, often driven solely by their love and trust of Zingler and Cherif.” – Billboard

“From niche hip-hop festival to must-play event for some of the biggest stars in music.” – Pollstar

“Until Elon Musk involuntarily envelops society into a physical cloud universe, Rolling Loud will be the closest experience to actually living inside your streaming app.” – Complex

“Rolling Loud’s annual New York edition is always something special, but this year’s Halloween-weekend extravaganza (not to mention the first post-pandemic) brought seriously spectacular energy to Queens’ Citi Field.” – Highsnobiety

“Rolling Loud is a lifestyle brand. They are more than just the shows. They have built a community with their consumers and are building new channels to maintain continuity” – Forbes

“In four and a half years — beginning small in Miami, and now promoting Coachella-sized events around the country — Rolling Loud has established itself as a playground for the young…This time last year, many of the rappers now drawing crowds of several thousand were barely known.” – The New York Times

TikTok Treats, Week of October 17th

Daft Punk Gets On Board, Carly Rae Jepsen Comes Back For Us, Mary J Blige Offers Positive Affirmations, and More Highlights From a Busy Week of Music on TikTok

    The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. Check out this week’s trends below:

    • Taylor Swift’s Midnights releases on Friday, and TikTok has made it easier than ever to enter her unique world with the new Taylor Swift Midnights content hub, live now on TikTok and the web. The content hub allows fans to explore all aspects of the world of Midnights on TikTok, containing all of her tracklist reveal videos and #SwiftTok content from her legion of fans on the platform. The Taylor Swift Midnights  hub will be updated with the full album playlist when it’s available on Friday, and will populate with user-created videos that use the album’s songs in creative ways. Tune in on Friday to experience Midnights with the TikTok Community.
    • Pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen commands a cult following on TikTok and beyond, who hang upon her every lovingly-crafted lyric and euphoria-inducing chorus. Since releasing her last single “The Loneliest Time,” a collaboration with Rufus Wainwright, on October 7th, she’s been the center of a fun-loving, backward-looking trend that springs from the singer’s personality-driven vocal delivery. The trend surrounds a half-spoken line from the new song–”I’m coming back for you, baby…I’m coming back for you!”–and is perfectly suited for everything from reusing a favorite water glass, procrastinating on necessary school workgiving up alcohol during pregnancy, or leaving friends to go on a “side quest.” With over 16k video creations in less than two weeks, “The Loneliest Time” looks like the latest viral hit for the Canadian singer, who shared her own version of the trend this week and introduced her adorable cat in the process.
    • Country singer Megan Moroney scored her first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month, and she has TikTok to give thanks. The self-described “professional emo cowgirl” struck a chord with the community with her song “Tennessee Orange,” an emotional ode to a new love–Moroney, a proud Georgia Bulldogs fan, is even willing to wear the colors of their rival Tennessee Vols to show how much she cares about him. Moroney first teased the song on TikTok in August, promoting it with heartfelt videos and acoustic live performances until she officially released the song in September. Propelled by Moroney’s growing profile, the song has been used to soundtrack best friend reunions, college love stories, and much more, and inspired an acoustic cover by user @carolinesmallwoodmusic that generated over 4.6 million views. With over 35.5k video creations to date, “Tennessee Orange” has become one of the biggest country hits of Fall 2022, reaching a new peak of #75 on the Hot 100 and #20 on the Hot Country Songs chart this week. Meanwhile, Moroney is slyly crediting her song for inspiring UT’s big win over Alabama over the weekend.
    • Mexican group Grupo Frontera has creators in the mood to dance freely with their cover of Colombian folk-pop song, “No Se Va,” originally by Morat. Garnering over 213K+ creations, the Grupo Frontera version of the song gets creators to show off their best moves as they dance with their sistersclassmates, and by themselves in the comfort of their homes. In other recent videos, “No Se Va” soundtracks creators’ quinceañera decoration videoscooking tutorials, and quick hacks for making homemade tortillas. The viral success of “No Se Va” earned Grupo Frontera their first Billboard Hot 100 entry, as it became just the fifth-ever regional Mexican song to reach the Hot 100 in the chart’s 64-year history.
    • The TikTok community prides itself on authenticity. Creators often encourage each other to be confident in being themselves and make their own decisions, regardless of what other people say or do. With this in mind, creators have kicked off a comedic trend sparked by Mary J. Blige’s 1997 R&B hit “I Can Love You” ft. Lil Kim (33K+ creations), in which they portray themselves responding to someone telling them what they would never do. Mary J. Blige’s brief repetition of the line “I can, I can” resonates with creators who could eat sushi every daylove sleeping in their own messy rooms, and can easily cut people off despite what anyone thinks.
    • They’ve been around the world and back again, and now legendary French house duo Daft Punk is on TikTok. The robotic dance overlords joined the platform earlier this week with a bang, sharing a video soundtracked by their 2013 song “Contact” and racking up over 1 million views in 24 hours. The legendary duo’s new TikTok account, which will honor their legacy and share exclusive content from their archives specifically for the channel, arrives with two official Daft Punk filters for fans to use. Created by Dutch effects designer Isabel Palumbo in collaboration with TikTok’s Effect House, the first filter introduces a Daft Punk-style helmet for the community to model, while the second brings to life Charles the Dog–a character first seen in the video for 1998 Grammy-nominated track “Da Funk.” Though the band broke up in 2021, the TikTok account is active–the group already posted a second video, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album Homework.
    • Latinx Heritage Month might’ve wrapped up over the weekend, but the TikTok community is still getting their groove on to past hits by Latinx artists. TikTok creators have given new life to Mexican rapper Ms. Krazie’s 2008 song “A Gangster’s Wife,” as they vibe out to the track in their own creative ways. Boasting over 1M+ total creations, “A Gangster’s Wife” inspires creators as they enjoy affection from a significant othershow off their necktie tying skills, and share the differences between how they handle being sick versus their partner. Ms. Krazie also interacted with her trending sound on, reacting to creators’ videos with the duet feature and thanking fans for making the song go viral on TikTok. Receiving a boost from TikTok, “A Gangster’s Wife” earned a top ten spot on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 charts with over 9 million streams to date.

Rich Amiri Delivers a Soulful Serenade on “Keep All That”

    10.21.2022

Song: Rich Amiri – “Keep All That”

The Boston Teenager Rager Slows it Down to Flaunt his R&B Chops on Silky Smooth New Single

    Critical Praise:

“For someone who has only been rapping for two years, Rich continues to deliver nothing but perfection track after track.”  Lyrical Lemonade

    The Song:

A promising young talent with a versatility beyond his years, Rich Amiri has an arsenal of sounds that grows with each release. Trading in his digital rage sound for one evoking big bands and backup singers, Rich shares his latest single, “Keep All That.” A soulful Pluggnb slow jam that draws influence from iconic crooners like Marvin Gaye and Al Green, Rich taps into his vocal smoothness with the casual rasp of a long day’s end. Over cherubic backing vocals and seductive orchestration, Rich presents an ode to a sneaky link disguised as a vintage R&B romance anthem with refreshing efficacy: “I miss the sex, and your scent, and your touch, but baby I don’t need you.”

“Keep All That” is the latest missive from the busy, Boston-born 18-year-old. Last month, Amiri shared video for the clean-cut “Dirty Money,” which arrived on the heels of the clip for his chest-thumping, Cxdy & Taz Taylor-produced single Can’t Die,” following July’s double-dose of rage with the release of singles “ruthless” and “trouble.” In June, the rapper shared For The Better, his debut project. Featuring appearances from SSGKobeSummrs, and others, the 8-song effort showcased Amiri’s beyond-his-years maturity and sharp songwriting, while Internet Money helped craft a soundscape that suited his inimitable voice.

Since he started uploading songs to his SoundCloud in 2020, Rich Amiri has established himself as a fixture in rap’s burgeoning melodic underground. He first earned recognition with his 2021 song Never Fail,” which surpassed 2.8 million plays on SoundCloud, and he struck again late last year with his bubbling hit “Walk In.” Most recently, the young artist shared the video for his For The Better highlight “Bounty.”

With the respect of his peers and a fast-growing fanbase, Rich Amiri is on the path to stardom. Stay tuned for much more from the rising rapper in the near future.

    The Background:

Hypnotic and honeyed, Rich Amiri’s voice is like little else in rap. Having only recently started taking music seriously, his syrupy melodies have already helped him stand out from his peers in plugg&B–a slurry blend of soul and cloud rap that’s been taking over the internet. Amiri’s humble and nonchalant about his gifts but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of his scene’s most free-associative songwriters. He switches lanes with grace, as evidenced by some of the highlights from his recent EP Chase. Tracks like “J10” are low-key and sensitive, while “Never Fail” allows him room to rage, showing off his many sides in quick succession. Though the 18-year-old hails from Boston, he’s a child of the internet who’s been uploading bedroom recordings to SoundCloud since 2020. Like many Gen Z stars, Amiri is something of a one-man army. He says even before he made music, he was on TikTok “from sunup to sundown,” meaning he knew exactly how to get “Never Fail” to go viral—and it’s now inching toward 2 million SoundCloud streams. Amiri’s just getting started, but he’s already starting to accomplish his goals, reaching fans and sharing his innermost feelings. And yet, he’s quickly learned not to force anything. He’s made it this far by trusting his gut, after all. “If it’s a good beat, it’ll speak to me,” he says. “Then I make it speak to other people, too. “

Big Moochie Grape Reveals His Credo in “Get Money Catch Bodies” Video

Big Moochie Grape Reveals His Credo in “Get Money Catch Bodies” Video

    10.20.2022

Video: Big Moochie Grape – “Get Money Catch Bodies” (Prod. by Bandplay)

The Paper Route Empire Artist Shares His Two-Step Recipe For Success in His First New Video Single Since His East Haiti Baby Mixtape

    The Video:

Mixing a thudding delivery with nimble, stutter-stepping flows, Big Moochie Grape rhymes with a charisma that cannot be confined to small spaces. The Paper Route Empire rapper lives up to his humongous billing with Get Money Catch Bodies,” his anthemic new single. Skillfully navigating a Bandplay beat that combines classical piano with hard-hitting Tennessee trap percussion, Moochie displays the hustler mentality endeared him to his late mentor Young Dolph. The East Memphis native stacks triplet after triplet of high-flying flexes, taking potshots at cappers and doubters in the process: “My side of the city they treat me like Jigga/These n**** play games and we sendin’ out missiles,” In the video, Moochie returns to his home neighborhood with some of his PRE brethren, including fellow Memphis rapper SNUPE BANDZ, flexing his East Haiti Baby chain and counting up his cash by the band.

“Get Money Catch Bodies” is the first new song from Big Moochie Grape since he released East Haiti Baby, his full-length debut mixtape that dropped earlier this year. Aided by signature Tennessee-style production from BandplaySosa 808Ayoza, and more, East Haiti Baby chronicles Moochie’s rise from the trap to the top, showcasing the street acumen and sly grin that has him rising in his city and beyond. Continuing a dominant year for Paper Route Empire as they honor Young Dolph‘s legacy, Moochie enlists Key Glock and Kenny Muney for features, and shares a new verse from Dolph himself on mixtape highlight “Fun.” Whether he’s bouncing over a Bill Withers’ sample on “East Haiti Baby,” belting out cash-crazed melodies on “Money Money Money,” or swapping spitfire flows with Dolph on “Fun,” the Memphis native’s colorful charisma shines throughout the 15-track tape.

With the East Haiti Baby (Deluxe) coming soon, Big Moochie Grape continues his climb and keeps Paper Route Empire’s winning streak going strong. Stay tuned for much more from Moochie and PRE.

Made possible by Samsung, there will also be a first of its kind “StemDrop Mixer” on TikTok where creators of all levels can experiment with individual effects, harmonies and melodies to create and upload their own unique version of the song.

Officially launching on October 26th on TikTok, with creative direction from Syco Entertainment and Universal Music Group’s Republic Records and powered by Samsung Galaxy. StemDrop is a never-before-seen platform for artists to showcase their talent to the world.

Max Martin, the prolific producer and songwriter, has produced dozens of the greatest and best known Billboard number 1 singles over the last two decades, including Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time”, Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way”, Céline Dion’s “That’s the Way It is”, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights”.

Fueled by their passion to collaborate, the multiple Grammy-Award winning songwriters Max Martin, Savan Kotecha (One Direction, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, The Weeknd)  and Ali Payami (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd) are releasing a version of their brand-new single “Red Lights” for the first StemDrop, kicking-off this new generation of global music collaboration.

TikTok’s community of over one billion users continues to push culture forward and at the heart of TikTok is the belief that anyone can take a sound, creative idea, trend or cultural moment and flip it to collaborate with others and create something entirely original, entertaining and engaging.

On October 26, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Ali Payami will release 60-seconds of a brand new single exclusively on TikTok. As soon as the song drops, the community will be able to access the ‘stems’ (the individual components of the song i.e. drums, bass guitar, vocal parts etc) through the StemDrop H5 page and can create, record & share their own unique versions to kick-start their music careers.

As part of the partnership between Samsung & TikTok, announced in September at IFA conference in Berlin, Samsung will be facilitating the program through product innovations that are open to all and exclusive to none.

The StemDrop Profile will also provide TikTok users, and creators a window into the StemDrop process, as new versions of the track from around the world are curated weekly by each of the individual songwriting teams as well as TikTok, Syco, Republic Records and Universal Music Group. TikTok music curator Ari Elkins, singer-songwriter Astrid S and Your Boy Moyo will act as global ambassadors for StemDrop and host daily content on the @StemDrop channel on TikTok.

The official StemDrop channel (@StemDrop) has posted videos today to celebrate the launch of StemDrop and spark excitement among the TikTok community.

Speaking on the launch of StemDrop, Simon Cowell says“Hit songs are like diamonds and they can change an artist’s career overnight. With tens of thousands of songs uploaded every day this idea will give aspiring artists the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most successful songwriters in the world. The premise was always very straightforward… ‘What would happen if the best songwriters in the world wrote a song for the world…….?’ We have no idea what’s going to happen. I do know there are so many incredibly talented people who are trying to stand out and I hope and believe this could make a big difference to their careers. It says everything about Max Martin, Savan and Ali that they have decided to give this song to the TikTok community to record and collaborate with them. And I want to thank them so much for believing in this idea. In addition, I want to thank TikTok, Samsung and Universal for their support and enthusiasm. Again, their passionate support of talented people is amazing.”

StemDrop co-creator Tim Van Rongen comments“I’m thrilled to be part of the next step in talent discovery. I feel it’s the exact right moment to launch a music project where the creative process is fully in the hands of the creators on TikTok. I can’t wait to see what everyone will come up with and think that the world will be surprised by the enormous creative variety that StemDrop and the TikTok community will deliver.”

Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music at TikTok says“We are thrilled to finally announce StemDrop to the world. We embrace and celebrate the innovation of these extraordinary individuals as they sail into uncharted waters.”

This partnership with TikTok, Syco Entertainment and Universal Music Group is a ground-breaking new chapter that will redefine music creation. As leaders in innovation, we feel a responsibility to constantly find ways to champion creativity – the openness of StemDrop does just that. This mission has been longstanding: from the launch of Samsung Spotlight, an initiative to support performing artists in the wake of the pandemic, to our partnership with UMG on Music Galaxy Thursdays, allowing music lovers free access to never-seen-before artist interviews, performances, and behind-the-scenes footage in the lead-up to New Music Friday. Now, our advancements in the foldables market are changing the way we use mobile devices as the ultimate tool for both productivity and self-expression. We’re extremely excited to build on our evolving role in the music industry, to continue leading the way in technological innovation, and to inspire the world to #MakeItWithSamsung.”

It all starts on Wednesday 26th October when Max Martin drops a brand new track exclusively on TikTok. Stems and all.

Trapland Pat Elevates the “Vibes” in Horn-Filled New Single

    10.20.2022

    Video: Trapland Pat – “Vibes

The Broward County Breakout Floats Over a Soulful Instrumental in His First All New Song Since His Trapnificent Mixtape, Arriving With a ShotByJolo Video

    Critical Praise:

“He’s subtly melodic and catchy even outside of the hook. He does the beat justice by making what he grew up with into something new.” – Pitchfork

“”Big Business is the #18 Best Rap Song of 2021–If “Big Business” is any indication, Trapland Pat may well become South Florida’s next rap auteur. In less than two minutes, he deftly connects Broward County’s disparate styles, vibrating at his own zany frequency.” – Passion Of The Weiss

“10 New Miami Rappers To Watch…Trapland Pat is unlike any other act to come out of South Florida. Since 2019, Pat has consistently delivered grimy bars and smooth cadences over an array of trap beats. Over the past three years, the Deerfield Beach native has been feeding his growing fanbase with singles like “Emergency” and “Dealings,” along with four projects: Exit 41, Pak Man, Interstate Baby, and 2020 Vision. (The last two albums were released via Fredo Bang’s imprint Bang Biz Productions/Create Music Group.) In 2021, Trapland Pat dropped his latest project, Thru Da Door, via Bang Biz, featuring collaborations with Kuttem Reese and Members Only rapper Kid Trunks. He’s still pushing his latest single, ‘Boondocks,”‘which dropped last month. However, on Instagram, Pat celebrated the anniversary of his song ‘Big Business’ and teased a potential remix coming later this year.” – Miami New Times

“Over the course of the last few weeks perhaps no one else has hit the scene as hard as Pat…The Florida rapper raps with wide-eyed astonishment, seemingly at his own bars sometimes which become as animated as his facial expressions. To be honest, the sheer confidence Trapland Pat employs on the track here just makes you want to pay attention or risk missing out on something.” – ELEVATOR

    “Trapland Pat makes pretty music.”Stereogum

“South Florida has no shortage of crazy-eyed young rappers with wild hair situations and near-impenetrable drawls, but Trapland Pat still stands out from the rest. The rising star has an outsized charisma and a flair for theatrical imagery, and that would be enough to set him apart. More importantly, though, he knows how to put a song together. He’s not out to transcend trap music; he’s just here to do trap music about as well as it can be done, bringing a vivid and lively bounce that harkens back to the genre’s origins.”Stereogum

    The Video:

Blessed with a buoyant flow and a talent for stacking casual flexes, Trapland Pat stands apart with his innate musicality. Going in atop soulful horns and a funky bassline, Pat struts his stuff on Vibes,” his latest video single. Floating over an instrumental from Vince On The Beat, which combines elements of slinky West Coast hip-hop and classy neosoul, the Bang Biz/Alamo Records signee goes in, emphasizing the grain in his voice as he reveals how he gets faded and flexes on his come up: “Plug say he ran out of Quagen, so I took the Wock/If we ain’t sippin red, then it’s purple, gotta make it stop.”

In the video, directed by Pat’s frequent collaborator ShotByJolo, Pat invites a bevy of baddies to his South Florida mansion for an afternoon of revelry and poolside partying. “Vibes” follows-up Pat’s celebratory video for Big Business (Remix) ft. Rick Ross,” in which Pat recruited the Boss (and a host of other notables including Sauce Walka and FCG Heem) to Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood for a distinctly Floridian blend of chaos.

“Vibes” is the first wholly new single from the Deerfield Beach, Florida native since he shared the acclaimed Trapnificent mixtape this past summer. Pat’s first release for Bang Biz and Alamo Records, the project boasts several standout singles, including the joyful “Trap Dance” and the sinister “D.O.A.” Pat taps frequent collaborator Pepper Jack Zoe, who produced his breakout hit Big Business,” to handle the bulk of the production, his creeping piano-led beats providing grounding for Pat’s larger-than-life bars and hummable melodies. Trapnificent rolls out the red carpet for a tasteful selection of guests, including, Fredo Bang, who signed Pat to his imprint Bang Biz and appears twice on the tape, Sacramento street hero Mozzy, NYC Winners Circle maestro Eli Fross, and Memphis’ own BIG30Trapnificent earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the project a “zippy distillation of his regional roots” and said that Pat’s music is “extremely regionally and culturally specific, like so much exciting and promising new rap music.”

Ready to keep his momentum going and deliver his searing street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be Broward County’s next big star. Trapnificent is available everywhere via Bang Biz Ent./Alamo Records.
