His 2008 #1 hit single “Lollipop” crossed the threshold just this week, and in a recent video, the artist gave partial credit to TikTok’s “Lollipop” Challenge for helping push the song over the finish line. Press Release

Metro & The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Baile Funk and More TikTok Trends to Warm Up The Winter

12.14.2022

TikTok Treats, Week of December 12th

Lady Gaga Goes Wednesday Addams, Metro Boomin & The Weeknd Creep On The Low, Baile Funk Booms, and More From Music On TikTok

The News:

Each week, the TikTok Treats newsletter gives a snapshot of the state of music on TikTok, touching on trending hits, emerging artists, superstar moves, ascendant memes, and much more. This week’s trends run the gamut from acoustic ballads, to garage punk classics, to familiar R&B samples, but each one showcases the unique creativity the TikTok community injects into every track.

Last week, TikTok shared its Year On TikTok 2022 celebration, with three music categories that included The Hitmakers (Top US Artists, Lizzo), The Playlist (Top US Songs, “Sunroof” by Nicky Youre & Dazy), and Emerging Artists (including rising stars like Steve Lacy, Ice Spice, GloRilla, and more). In case you missed it, TikTok also released an extension to its YOTT 2022 report that took a deeper look at the music that trended and charted over the year. You can find that report, which discusses some of the most important music storylines of 2022, HERE.

Check out this week’s trends below

  • From Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” from The Batman to Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” from Stranger Things, TikTok creators love to express their love for their favorite movies and TV by sharing and creating videos to the tune of music from their soundtracks. The latest TikTok obsession is Wednesday, the new Tim Burton-produced Addams Family series on Netflix. In a pivotal scene from the series, the titular character, portrayed by Jenna Ortega, performs a flailing and expressive dance to “Goo Goo Muck,” a 1981 cover of a classic garage rock single by legendary punk band The Cramps. With over 80k video creations to date, “Goo Goo Muck” is the go-to soundtrack for anyone attempting to mimic the choreography from Wednesday’s big dance, ranging from cosplayers to high school teachers, or to flash back to their favorite Addams Family moments. In an interesting phenomenon, many TikTok creators do their version of the dance to the tune of a sped-up version of “Bloody Mary,” the 2011 single by Lady Gaga. With over 1.9 million video creations, “Bloody Mary” has become a phenomenon, with Mother Monster herself joining the trend in a video that generated over 8 million views. The newfound attention is benefitting both The Cramps and Lady Gaga, as “Goo Goo Muck” reached the Top 10 of Spotify’s U.S. Viral 50 and Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” reached the Top 25.
  • The holiday season typically finds us all in the mood for heartwarming stories and messages of appreciation for our loved ones. Drawing inspiration from Billie Eilish’s acoustic ballad “TV” (585.1k+ total creations), the TikTok community celebrates the time spent with their family and friends. Using Billie’s touching lyrics, “I’ll be in denial for at least a little while/What about the plans we made,” creators document bittersweet moments of gifting their nieces jewelry from a lost parent, watch their adorable children learn to dance, and reflect on the memories shared with their exes. Billie also interacted with the sound on her own TikTok page, sharing a video of herself laying on a hammock.
  • 21 Savage, and The Weeknd’s “Creepin” inspired TikTok’s music lovers to explore the origins of the track. Boasting over 25.7K+ creations, the Mario Winans-sampling track finds creators describing how ‘90s babies listen to The Weeknd’s verse, humorously reenact the creative process behind the song, and reveal the original sample source. In other videos, creators use The Weeknd’s soulful hook to refuse to learn more from co-workers about their breakups or take criticism about their makeup.
  • PinkPantheress skyrocketed to fame on the back of the TikTok success of  songs like “Just for me” and “Break It Off,” and now the British singer-songwriter is taking the platform by storm once again with her song “Boy’s a liar.” Initially teasing the electro-pop track with a snippet in October, PinkPantheress released the song in November and it’s gone on to rack up over 325K creations. The TikTok community resonates with the lyric “That boy’s a liar” as they reflect on failed relationships and relationships that never happened. Celebrities like Jordyn Woods and Khalid are catching on, with Jordyn using the song to soundtrack her GRWM for the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water and Khalid using it to soundtrack his parking lot boogie moment. On her own account, PinkPantheress used “Boy’s a liar” to express her gratitude for the incredible impact her fans on TikTok have made on her career.
  • Valentine’s Day may be months away but love is in the air on TikTok. Sparked by H.E.R.’s dreamy 2017 track “Every Kind Of Way” (112K+ creations), creators write options of things to do and places to go on note cards and pieces of paper for their partners to blindly choose and create a day of fun. While some creators participate in the trend to give their partner a relaxing day, others participate in it to trick their partner into doing chores around the house. The song also soundtracks creations from those who want to do the trend with their partners or adorable toddlers, but also really want to go to Texas Roadhouse and Starbucks.
  • Baile funk, the energetic genre of hard-hitting electronic music that originated in Brazil, is massively popular on TikTok all over the globe, with WZ Beats’ funk-inspired “Beat Automotivo Tan Tan Viral” reaching TikTok’s Top 10 Tracks of 2022. Baile Funk is having a major moment on TikTok this week, led by “TubarĂŁo Te Amo,” a danceable banger by DJ LK da EscĂłcia & Tchakabum & MC Ryan SP. The song is at the center of a “Dance Battle” trend, in which creators at home, at graduation, or at The Louvre, hit an aggressive, arm-swinging dance. “TubarĂŁo Te Amo” kicked into extra gear with the start of the World Cup, with fans using the dance to celebrate goals and wins by their favorite teams. Just last week, Brazil’s national soccer team celebrated a goal as a group by hitting the “TubarĂŁo” dance during their World Cup victory over Switzerland. The dance has propelled “TubarĂŁo Te Amo” to major streaming success–the song has over 41 million streams on Spotify alone, and recently reached #2 on the service’s U.S. Viral 50 chart.

Legendary rapper Lil Wayne just scored his first Diamond-selling single, with over 10 million units sold. His 2008 #1 hit single “Lollipop” crossed the threshold just this week, and in a recent video, the artist gave partial credit to TikTok’s “Lollipop” Challenge for helping push the song over the finish line. With over 595k video creations on TikTok, it’s clear that the sugary rap song will remain a part of the cultural lexicon for years to come.

Hear Young Dolph’s New Single “Old Ways,” ‘Paper Route Frank’ Tracklist Revealed

    12.13.2022

Young Dolph’s Estate and Paper Route Empire Share “Old Ways,” the Latest Single From Paper Route Frank, out 12/16

Young Dolph Completed the Paper Route Frank Album Before His Passing; Presented with Minimal Alterations, Paper Route Frank is Available on December 16th via Paper Route Empire

The New Album Features Guest Spots from Key Glock, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and PRE’s Big Moochie Grape and SNUPE BANDZ, Plus Production from a Litany of Southern Rap Greats, Including Bandplay, Sosa 808, Dun Deal, Drumma Boy & More

    The Announcement:

Young Dolph’s boisterous lyricism helped him build a Paper Route Empire and change the face of hip-hop. On the newly-released song Old Ways,” released today by Dolph’s estate and PRE, the artist displays the commanding delivery and precise punchlines that made him an icon. Steamrolling a sparkling beat from his frequent collaborator BandPlay, using a sample from “Darlin Darlin Baby” by The O’Jays, Dolph emphatically proves that the money he’s made didn’t change his dedication to the hustle or his taste in music: “She think that I’m still stuck in my old ways/God damn I love the trap, I miss the old days/Ride around in the Bonneville with my throwaway/Now I make millions, I might just listen to the O’Jays.” Effortlessly quotable and impossibly hard, “Old Ways” is a sterling addition to Dolph’s formidable discography.

“Old Ways” arrives alongside the newly-revealed tracklist Paper Route Frank, the upcoming posthumous album by Young Dolph. Spanning 13 tracks, Paper Route Frank drips with the same commanding charisma and booming Tennessee bass that define Dolph’s impeccable catalog. The tape features production from frequent collaborators like Paper Route Empire’s own Bandplay, Cleveland-born Sosa 808, and Memphis mainstay DJ Squeeky, plus Southern rap sound architects including Dun Deal and Drumma Boy, all of whom rise to the occasion with cinematic, speaker-knocking instrumentals that accentuate each outlandish boast. Paper Route Frank welcomes an expertly-curated list of guest stars, each of whom had a personal relationship with the rapper: Dolph’s cousin and frequent rap partner Key Glock returns to spar, Glock’s fellow PRE signees Big Moochie Grape and SNUPE BANDZ make an impression in their verses, Gucci Mane puts his stamp on “Roster,” and 2 Chainz, one of the few in the game who could match Dolph punchline for punchline, makes his presence known on “Beep Beep.”

Paper Route Frank arrives on the heels of the Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Day of Service on November 17th, officially ordained by the state legislatures of Georgia and Tennessee last December in honor of Dolph’s memory. The IdaMae Foundation, in partnership with The Confess Project of America, will honor the legacy of Young Dolph by activating several public service events. Reported on by hundreds of outlets across the globe, #DolphDay furthered Dolph’s charitable efforts and reaffirmed the beloved rapper’s place in hip-hop history.

2022 was a cathartic and productive for Paper Route Empire, the label Dolph built from the ground up, as the label’s artist spent the year going as hard as possible in Dolph’s name. On Dolph Day, Dolph’s cousin and PRE heavy-hitter Key Glock shared PRE5L, a ferocious EP that proves yet again that the future of the empire is in good hands. The year started with Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, a label compilation album that features touching tributes to Dolph from almost every artist on the label, from rising stars like Big Moochie Grape to relative newcomers like Paper Route Woo. The project is home to “Proud,” a moving and defiant single from Key Glock, which earned over 4 million views in its first 3 days of release and garnered praise from The New York Times.

Stay tune for Paper Route Frank, coming this Friday, December 16th via Paper Route Empire.

Chief Keef to Release Finally Rich (Complete Edition) on December 16th

    12.19.2022

Chief Keef Releases Finally Rich (Complete Edition)

Celebrating a Decade of His Landmark Debut

Sosa Adds 7 Unreleased Tracks to His 2012 Classic, Including “Rider” ft. Wiz Khalifa

    Critical Praise:

    Rolling Stone’s 200 Best Hip-Hop Albums of All-Time (Finally Rich, #32)

“There is still nothing that feels like ‘Love Sosa,’ the breakout single from a then 17-year-old Chief Keef, from his debut album, Finally Rich. The Chicago rapper’s melodic, hard-nosed anthem shook the foundation of hip-hop. The kids were taking control in a way that the genre had never seen.” – Rolling Stone

“There’s no denying the influence of Keef’s menacing production, straightforward verses, and early D.I.Y. rap ethos on the generation of hip-hop artists that has followed.”Pitchfork

“The influence and staying power of Chief Keef really cannot be overstated.” – The FADER

    The Announcement:

Los Angeles, CA (December 16, 2022) – Emerging onto the scene in 2012 with a “bang bang,” Chief Keef’s arrival changed the face of rap music for the following decade. Celebrating 10 years of his culture-shifting classic debut album, the multi-platinum rapper-producer shares Finally Rich (Complete Edition). Adding 7 previously unreleased tracks, including a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa on “Rider,” Finally Rich (Complete Edition) is available everywhere now via Interscope Records.

Originally released on December 12, 2012, the seismic impact of Finally Rich sparked waves that continue to reverberate throughout popular music a decade later. The album’s innovative soundscapes, crafted in part by Chicago sound architect Young Chop, combined with Keef’s mutated melodies and off-kilter turns of phrase to create a massive moment for the then-ascendant genre of drill. The landmark album set the stage for the Chicago-born genre’s global takeover, and Keef’s unapologetic energy and singular vocal style influenced an entire generation of rappers (an incomplete list of his admirers includes 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti). Rated by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and many other publications as one of the best rap albums of the 2010s, Finally Rich changed the face of music, established Sosa as a globally recognizable icon and shifted the center of rap culture back to the streets.

Cracking the Top 5 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and Top Rap Albums Chart before eventually earning platinum status, the now-classic album is home to iconic singles like the quadruple-platinum “Love Sosa,” double-platinum “Hate Bein’ Sober” [feat. 50 Cent & Wiz Khalifa], and “I Don’t Like” [feat. Lil Reese]—which famously inspired the platinum-certified “I Don’t Like (Remix)” [feat. Pusha T, Kanye West, Big Sean, & Jadakiss] on the G.O.O.D. Music collective’s Billboard 200 #1 album, Cruel Summer. The new songs on the Complete Edition fit seamlessly alongside these classics, rekindling the spirit of 2012 among loyal fans and newcomers alike.

Speaking to the enduring impact of Finally Rich, Spotify is collaborating with Chief Keef to present an exclusive fan performance celebrating 10 years of the iconic album. Top fans will be invited to attend the intimate concert event in Brooklyn, NY.

Uncountably prolific, yet never seeming to run out of ideas, Chief Keef is embarking on a new chapter of his storied career. Earlier this year, he announced the formation of 43B, his new record label formed in conjunction with BMG, and signed its first artist, Lil Gnar. The two 43B artists combined for the recent single “Almighty Gnar,” a beat-shifting banger. In December 2021, the rapper shared his critically acclaimed project 4NEM, home to viral single “Yes Sir” and titanic opener “Bitch Where,” prominently used in the fourth season of FX’s Atlanta and recently included in Pitchfork’s Best Singles of 2022 list, and founded his new Web3 venture DigiGlo. Keef is preparing to release his next all-new highly anticipated project, Almighty So 2, home to recent singles “Racks Stuffed Inna Couch,” “Tony Montana Flow,” and “Chief So,” in early 2023.

Stay tuned for much more from the young icon as he continues to build his legacy.

My Favorite Color and Valee Network Like Cartoons in “Man Man”

    12.12.2022

Video: My Favorite Color  – “Man Man” ft. Valee

The Two Rappers Connect For a Hazy and Offbeat Anthem, Complete With an Inventive Animated Video

    Critical Praise:

Best New Artist for September 2021: It’s clear My Favorite Color is okay not taking himself too seriously and letting the music speak for itself.” – Pigeons & Planes

“The Pittsburgh MC once again flashes signs of brilliance on his new song ‘Old News.’ His zany personality and frenetic flow are the main drivers of his fun-filled anthem.” – Billboard

“He truly brings you on a sonic journey that contains so many different styles, sounds, and narratives, you have no choice but to pay attention.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“His music is powerful. Each bar drips with the confusion and existential dread of a man who feels out of place in his world.” – Noisey

    The Video:

Rising rapper My Favorite Color turns heads with offbeat flows and cleverly constructed punchlines. Teaming up with a fellow flowsmith for a woozy and dreamy new anthem, My Favorite Color shares Man Man,” and its new animated music video. Navigating a seasick, synth-heavy instrumental from Cam Raleigh, the new song finds My Favorite Color trading verses with Valee, a kindred spirit of MFC’s who also specializes in attacking beats from odd angles. The Rostrum Records signee takes the first turn on the mic, purposefully pushing the envelope with outrageous lyrics, dipping into Valee’s famous “Two 16s” flow as he rhymes: “This b*tch knows she’s perfect, but I treat her like a 8/N**** want some smoke, then Ima treat him like an eighth/All this ice like figure 8’s/My white bitch look like Sharon Tate.” Valee parachutes in with a halting cadence, his whispery flow blending perfectly with the pillowy atmosphere: “Pouring up lean on a plane I’m flying for real/I’m flying in a hellcat like it’s a Bonneville.”

“Man Man” arrives along with an inventive animated video, directed by Austin Linkinhoker, whose quirky and psychedelic vision suits the music to a tee. The colorful new video follows My Favorite Color’s career as a class clown in a high school setting, as he flirts with baddies in detention and writes out his lyrics on the chalkboard. Valee pops in halfway through the video to add his two cents and provide a new visual dimension to the organized chaos. “Man Man” is the latest in a long line of inventive videos from My Favorite Color, including most recently the ’90s sitcom-themed “Mama’s House,” the mannequin-filled “Cut Me In,” and 2021’s “Old News.” The creativity on display in “Old News,” in which the artist portrayed multiple characters a la Eddie Murphy, ranging from a kidnap victim, to a possibly untrained pilot, to a truth-telling stand-up comedian, inspired Pigeons & Planes to name him a Best New Artist in September 2021.

Hailing from Pittsburgh and based in L.A., My Favorite Color never paints with the same hue twice. The rapper has kept busy in 2022 by releasing sonically diverse tracks like “Dead It” and “Frustrated.” He is currently hard at work on his next project, an effort that keeps up the experimental spirit even as it properly continues the story he started with his heartfelt 2020 debut album Velma. Stay tuned for much more music and eye-popping videos from My Favorite Color in the coming weeks and months.

Xavier Wulf Refuses to Relent in “Still Will’ Video

    12.12.2022

Video: Xavier Wulf – “Still Will

The Memphis Rap Maverick Busts Donuts in the Lot in New Video for the Hitkidd-Produced Standout from Blood Shore Season 3

    The Video:

Like the souped up rides he whips with a passion, Xavier Wulf is built for performance. Returning to fulfill his promises, the Hollow Squad head honcho shares his new video for “Still Will,” the Hitkidd-produced highlight from his Blood Shore Season 3 mixtape, released in October. Over a brooding instrumental that meshes Xavier’s signature Memphis sound with Saturday morning superhero cartoon themes, “Still Will” finds Xavier posturing himself as a man who’s long been on a mission and will never stop: “I was ditching class, smoking gas with my brother since/9th grade, with a Boosie fade, I was killing sh*t.”

The ShotByMiggy-directed video for “Still Will” is steeped in the stock car aesthetic of things and machines that go bumping in the Memphis night. Throughout the clip, Xavier shifts gears from his garage filled with custom builds to the empty nighttime highway where he leads his convoy of cruisers, to vacant lots where donuts by the dozen are glazed with burnt rubber. The video is as candidly cool as it gets, letting Xavier’s rhymes guide the way through a night in the underground lifestyle of a true original.

Continuing his fan-favorite mixtape series, Blood Shore Season 3 deposits new listeners and loyal fans into Xavier’s shadowy underworld of souped-up sports cars and stacks of cash. The underground king carries himself like a roguish anti-hero, as he slithers through brooding production by Hitkidd, WhoTheHellIsCarlo, and many others. The new tape is the sequel to 2014’s acclaimed Blood Shore Season 2, home to “Psycho Pass,” which earned renewed attention on TikTok in the past year and earned GOLD certification in October with over 100 million streams on Spotify alone.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and deeply steeped in his home city’s musical tradition, Xavier Wulf had a hand in nearly every major underground rap movement in the past decade. Wulf was one of the first rappers to build a following on SoundCloud, helping make the platform the go-to for aspiring rappers and establishing it as a hub of hip-hop innovation. Throughout his career, Wulf has criss-crossed the invisible line between underground and mainstream, racking up hundreds of millions of streams, and playing to sold out crowds across the country. This year, Wulf killed it on his 29-date “The Midnight Club Tour – Dub Edition,” and shut it down with a primetime set at Rolling Loud New York this fall. In late 2021, Wulf collabed with Hollow Squad producer Quintin Lamb for the high-octane GARAGE PUNK EP.

Pushing his sound forward with every release, Xavier Wulf’s artistic journey is nowhere near finished. Stay tuned for much more from Xavier Wulf as he gears up for another year of dominance.

    The Background:

Xavier Wulf is a man possessed. When he has a dream or sets a goal, it consumes him. When he hears a beat, it takes over his body, commanding him to speak, shout, and let out the rage. As an artist and a person, he is quite literally driven by something beyond himself — maybe that’s a little on the nose for a rapper known for his deep love of street racing and drifting, but it’s also an apt description for his process. When Xavier clicks with an instrumental, he closes his eyes, puts the lyrical pedal to the floor, and lets it all out, following whatever road feels right.

DC The Don Gets Lovesick on “Poison”

    12.12.2022

    Video: DC The Don -“Poison

The Rostrum Records Artist Rides a Hyperpop Rollercoaster of Emotion in a New Video Single as He Prepares for the Upcoming Album FUNERAL

    Critical Praise:

“Not only can he sing with so much emotion behind his words, but he also knows how to masterfully rap as well as switch up his cadences constantly, always keeping you guessing about what he’s going to do next.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“Los Angeles by way of Milwaukee’s DC The Don is part rapper, part rockstar, excelling in the melodic and riotous lane popularized by cult heroes like Lil Uzi Vert and Trippie Redd.” – Audiomack

    The Video:

With his infectious energy, relatable rhymes, and unique aesthetic, DC The Don is ready to shake the game up like a Tilt-a-Whirl. Leaning into his strength for channeling childlike wonder into his venting of adult stresses, the Rostrum Records artist shares his new video for “Poison,” the latest single from his upcoming FUNERAL album. Over a cacophony of hyper-pop infused production, the track finds DC walking the emotional tightrope between moving on and falling back into a toxic relationship: “Your love is poison but I treat it like it’s medical/And I’m not the only one but girl, you left me skeptical.”

The video for “Poison” is a perfectly fitting visual metaphor for rebuilding a broken heart in the wake of an ill-fated relationship. Taking a solo trip to a carnival, DC arrives with youthful excitement and a glowing smile, ready to be the one playing games this time around. Enlisting his stuffed animal prize to keep him company, DC takes a rollercoaster ride as his mind navigates the highs and lows of his ex-lover. Yet, he never loses that sense of exuberance, knowing that what goes up must come down, but it’s still worth it just to ride that ferris wheel.

The new video single arrives as DC The Don prepares to release FUNERAL this winter. He is currently making stops across the U.S. and Canada on “FUNERAL Tour,“ which kicked off in late October. The tour has been a rousing success, selling out shows in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Philly, New Jersey, Colorado, Montreal, and more. With more tour stops to come in Dallas, Miami, and more, DC concludes the “FUNERAL Tour” in Houston later this month.

“Poison” follows in the wake of “ALL I KNOW” and “SUICIDE” ft. midwxst in DC’s stretch of new singles since releasing My Own Worst Enemy, his second studio album, in February. The project, which has racked up over 53 million streams on all platforms to date, tells a loose narrative about DC’s inner conflict, which manifests as a battle between two distinct personalities: the wholesome RAG3 KIDD and the demonic DONNY. Blending elements of rap, pop-punk, hyperpop, and more, MOW3 percolates with the energy of a young artist testing the limits of what he’s capable of accomplishing–and having fun while doing it.

Stay tuned for more from the young artist, including his upcoming tour and third album FUNERAL, as his star continues to rise!

    The Background:

DC The Don is a rapper from Milwaukee, WI. In 2016, at the age of 16 and standing 6’7”, DC moved to Los Angeles to pursue a basketball career under Lavar Ball and alongside teammate LaMelo Ball. During this time, he fell in love with music and used his spare time to make experimental records which suddenly gained traction – As the public became increasingly aware of DC The Don’s talent for rapping, NBA player Lonzo Ball featured his song “Everything 1k” on the first Big Baller Brand shoe commercial, introducing DC The Don’s music to an even wider audience. DC signed to Rostrum Records in 2020, releasing his debut album Come As You Are on August 7th, generating over 125 million streams across platforms. The artist looks to reach another level with My Own Worst Enemy, his ambitious new album, available everywhere now.

  • Press Release

Kenzo Balla & Kyle Richh Ring the Alarm in “PSA” Video

    12.9.2022

Video: Kenzo Balla – “PSA” ft. Kyle Richh

The Bronx Bruiser Shares New Video Single for Jersey Club-Infused Drill Banger from Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe), Arriving on December 16th

    Critical Praise

“…few songs feel as dutifully assembled as ‘Krash Out.’ As the sample gradually uncoils, Kenzo slashes right through the center. A weird phenomenon seems to happen, the rap equivalent of bullet time, where the listener gets an enhanced perception of the rapper’s speed relative to the world around him.” – NPR

“Kenzo Balla is yet another emerging voice out of New York City’s drill scene right now.” – Billboard

“Kenzo’s energy is magnetic” – COMPLEX

“Kenzo Balla’s commanding voice makes the new [“Let Me Know”] single an immediate standout.” – Audiomack

“Kenzo Balla is stepping into the game with sky high ambitions and a pen to match.” – IMPRINT

    The Video:

If defense wins championships, Bronx blitzer Kenzo Balla’s jewelry box is about to get one ring heavier. Continuing his rookie season of dominance, Kenzo enlists Brooklyn’s 41 crew standout Kyle Richh to share “PSA,” the lead video single from his upcoming project Mr. Ready To Blitz (Deluxe), coming on December 16th. Meshing the breathless beat of Jersey club with the frenzied flow of Bronx drill, “PSA” finds Kenzo and Kyle delivering a furious barrage of bars, resonating with an explosive hysteria worthy of its own emergency alert system for the opps.

The video for “PSA” sees Kenzo and Kyle domineering the open air as the cross-Borough collaborators find strength in numbers. Flanked by a bevy of baddies and homies alike, the energy of the clip is just as electric as the track itself, as they bust dance moves to the lightning-quick tempo of the Jersey Club beat. Never letting up on the intensity for so much as a breath, the message of this “PSA” can be understood as a warning: Brace for impact, because Kenzo’s ready to blitz.

Released in November, Mr. Ready to Blitz saw Kenzo leverage his devastating explosiveness across 14 tracks, including recent singles like the high-octane, NPR-approved “Krash Out,” and the Cito Blick and Pdot Savv-assisted “Don’t Panic.” On “Feel The Rage,” Kenzo bursts onto an endearingly melancholic drill instrumental with the headstrong momentum of a mammoth nose tackle like Vince Wilfork, while more fast-paced cuts like the Rayy Balla-featured “Go Kuu” highlight Kenzo’s elusive agility as he flashes through instrumental pockets like Troy Polamalu. Like all the most elite defensive rushers in the game, Kenzo’s strength lies in his opponent’s inability to contain him– in the split second it takes to register his arrival on the track, he puts himself 10 steps ahead.

A rising name in one of the nation’s busiest rap scenes, Kenzo Balla made his mark on the scene with his relentless rhymes and high-energy vocals. Known for collaborating with fellow Bronx heavyweights like his brother TG Crippy, Kenzo kicked off his career with a frenzy of fiery videos, including local hits like “5th To Sev” ft. TG Crippy & Pdot Sav (2 million video views), “OOTAZ,” and the “Love Nwantiti”-remixing Let Me Know” (1.8 million views). This summer, the former AAU baller tore up the streets with Dead Gzz,” a vicious, uptempo missive that racked up over 1.4 million video views since its release in June.

With a blistering EP in the books and the Deluxe on its way, Kenzo Balla emerges from his perch in the Bronx to blitz the rap game. Sit back and watch his rise, because there’s no stopping it.

    The Background:

Kenzo Balla evokes both the ecstasy and the peril of New York street rap. The Bronx artist serves up chilly bars over hammering drill beats for stylish, yet raw anthems that are drawing the attention of the world by the day. Teaming with frequent collaborators TG Crippy (his brother) and Jay Da Chaser, he blends those elements on tracks like “OOTAZ,” which drips with adrenaline and confrontation. While the track and others like it evoke unsettling force, they’ve also become the soundtrack of functions across the East Coast, and Kenzo wouldn’t have it any other way. Growing up in the BX, everyone knew each other and attended the same parties, but as he became a teenager, the drama escalated. Kenzo realized he’d have to change his lifestyle to survive. He’d spent much of his early years freestyling with friends, so he decided to record his first songs in 2018. After catching attention with melodic tracks like “Backends,” each new release earned more streams than the last. In September 2021, he unloaded “5th to the Sev,” an anthem for his neighborhood that garnered 1 million YouTube views. By 2022, he’d signed a deal with 10K Projects, alongside Crippy. With a growing fan base and an evolving sound in the works for a new project, Kenzo recognizes the potential of the moment he’s having now. On a grander level, he wants to rep the neighborhood that raised him. “I’m making music for me, my brother, my block, for the Bronx, and the whole city,” he says. “The Bronx is just me”.

On Yahweh Child, the young rapper demonstrates that their faith is not unfounded, as he rains down triplet flows and searing hooks like manna from heaven. Home to recent singles “Heartless” and “No Mind,” plus a guest spot from Stone Mountain, GA spitfire Yung Sinn, Yahweh Child is available everywhere via BoyMeetSpace / Internet Money / 10K Projects.

Along with the project, Rot Ken shares Mask On, a new video for a Yahweh Child highlight. Produced by JetsonMade, who adds his signature booming, ultra-low 808s, “Mask On” is a ultra-confident, speaker-knocking banger. Ken sprints over the trampoline percussion, his high-pitched triplets hitting like a shot of adrenaline to the heart. The song’s hook makes expert use of gang vocals, as he brings in a posse to emphasize each pronouncement: “CHOPPA/Hanging out the window/DRACO/Hanging out the jeep/WINS/We just caught an opp, we goin’ up that’s two for three.” In the video, directed by OneShotSkott, Ken rocks a colorful sweater as he balls out with his crew, moving in silence from the basketball court to a bank vault.

Rot Ken made a name for himself as one of the Georgia trap scene’s hottest up-and-comers in 2022. Yahweh Child is the follow-up to May’s Free Me, a 17-track project that showed his range, and demonstrated his singular ability to cut through immersive production with effervescent flows. The Augusta native’s project featured underground hits like “Baby Choppa” (1.6 million Spotify streams), “Heartbreak Kid” (1.7 million Spotify streams), and “Beautiful,” a collaboration with SoFaygo that racked up over 3.6 million Spotify streams. With additional appearances from Kalan.FrFr, Hunxho, and 21 Lil Harold, the 17-track Free Me project is available everywhere now.

Focused firmly on the future and with some of the best producers in the game in his corner, there’s no stopping Rot Ken’s rise to the top of the rap game. Stay tuned for much more.

    The Background:

Rot Ken is a rapper with a rare eye for the little details. Fueled by a childhood watching music videos on his family television, the Georgia rapper has a widescreen, auteurist understanding of rap that’s stuck with him to this day. His recent album Free Me is full of tracks that foreground arresting sensory images and establish Rot Ken as a stylist with few parallels. Growing up in Augusta, music came at a point in Rot Ken’s life when he needed a constructive distraction. Even at his earliest stages as an artist, it was clear that he was able to channel the pain and strife of his environment into songs that are vibrant and original. Though the momentum he was beginning to build seemed stalled, in late 2021, by a stint behind bars, Rot Ken came out of that situation stronger than ever. Now affiliated with the Taz Taylor-helmed Internet Money collective as well as the producer JetsonMade’s Boy Meets Space crew, Rot Ken announced his return with Free Me, a deliriously versatile showcase of his varied interests. From the emotional bloodletting of “Baby Choppa” to the entrancing, syrupy SoFaygo collaboration “Beautiful,” Rot Ken reveals just how adaptive his flows and pen have become. Since coming home, he’s spent nearly every day in the studio, where he aims to craft songs that connect with mass audiences while revealing the specifics of his own story—songs that, it should be obvious to anyone who hears them, are fit for the biggest screens imaginable.

Rolling Loud Announces the First Rolling Loud Album, w/ Single ft. Rae Sremmurd & Duke Deuce

    12.09.2022

Rolling Loud Announces the First-Ever Rolling Loud Album

    Rolling Loud Shares First Single,

Finger Food” ft. Rae Sremmurd & Duke Deuce (Prod. by Honorable C.N.O.T.E.)

Curated With the Same Exquisite Taste as a Rolling Loud Festival, the Upcoming Album Features Unexpected Collabs, Crowd-Moving Anthems, and New Music From Some of Rap’s Biggest Stars

    The Announcement:

Rolling Loud built its reputation on curating star-studded lineups that draw from all regions, subcultures, and eras of hip-hop. Bringing that same curatorial spirit and talent booking expertise, the World’s Premier Rap Festival Brand announces the first-ever Rolling Loud album. Executive produced by festival co-Founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, the upcoming album embodies the ethos of the festival, which started in Miami and played a major part in the rise of the ascendant South Florida underground scene–Rolling Loud was the first festival to book generational superstars and give them the massive audience they deserved. Featuring appearances from many of the rap game’s most vital stars and best producers, arranged in unexpected combinations that echo the festival’s love for surprise guests, the album arrives in Q1 2023 via Rolling Loud Records / EMPIRE.

Along with the announcement of the project, Rolling Loud shares “Finger Food,” the first single from the project. The new song is a collaboration between Rae Sremmurd and Duke Deuce, and while the hitmaking duo and Memphis’s new King of Crunk don’t share many surface similarities, both acts are very capable of elevating a song’s energy level to the stratosphere. Blessed with a booming beat by trap maestro The Honorable C.N.O.T.E., “Finger Food” is high-octane festival anthem, combining crisp 808s with driving guitars to provide a perfect stage for the three Dirty South rock stars to dive from: “Young and reckless put the pedal to the metal let it rock/B*tch you know we crunk as hell doin’ donuts in the lot/You ain’t get that private message, you can’t pull up to the spot/B*tches comin’ out they clothes, it ain’t really even hot.”

Already the biggest rap festival in the world, Rolling Loud continues to expand its empire, making a mark in the worlds of livestreaming, merch, and now recorded music. Rolling Loud had a massive 2022, hosting five festivals in four countries this year alone. In September, Rolling Loud threw its first-ever Canadian festival, Rolling Loud Toronto, headlined by Future, WizKid, and Dave. Rolling Loud hosted its flagship Rolling Loud Miami festival in July, gathering the culture for one of the most exciting events of the year, featuring headlining performances from Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and Future. Rolling Loud keeps the momentum going in 2023 with Rolling Loud California at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles in March, headlined by Travis Scott, Future, and Playboi Carti, Rolling Loud Thailand, its first festival in Asia, in April 2023, and expands its European operation, returning to Rolling Loud Portugal and debuting Rolling Loud Rotterdam.

Led by its founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud is the most powerful hip-hop festival in history. Stay tuned for many more announcements about the Rolling Loud album and all the upcoming festivals.

    Critical Praise:

“Rolling Loud has become the biggest hip-hop festival in the country”Variety

“Built from scratch by lifelong music fans Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud’s early strengths were its daring curation and booking, elevating a new generation of artists with exciting live shows and captivating energy. Today, the biggest performers headline the raucous Miami festival, coming from all over the world, often driven solely by their love and trust of Zingler and Cherif.”–  Billboard

“From niche hip-hop festival to must-play event for some of the biggest stars in music.”Pollstar

“Until Elon Musk involuntarily envelops society into a physical cloud universe, Rolling Loud will be the closest experience to actually living inside your streaming app.” – Complex

“Rolling Loud’s annual New York edition is always something special, but this year’s Halloween-weekend extravaganza (not to mention the first post-pandemic) brought seriously spectacular energy to Queens’ Citi Field.” – Highsnobiety

“Rolling Loud is a lifestyle brand. They are more than just the shows. They have built a community with their consumers and are building new channels to maintain continuity”Forbes

“In four and a half years — beginning small in Miami, and now promoting Coachella-sized events around the country — Rolling Loud has established itself as a playground for the young…This time last year, many of the rappers now drawing crowds of several thousand were barely known.”The New York Times

Please contact Michelle, Kerry, or Chris for more info.

    The Background:

Founded by 5-time Billboard Hip-Hop Power Players Matt Zingler & Tariq Cherif as a one-day Miami show, Rolling Loud has grown into a global festival phenomenon, putting on shows on both coasts and in multiple countries. Rolling Loud is the premier festival brand in hip-hop, known for its expert curation of wide-ranging lineups that reflect the state of the genre.

Rolling Loud recently wrapped Miami 2022, its biggest event to date, headlined by Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, and Future, and the inaugural Rolling Loud Portugal, which brought an international array of all-stars to the beaches of PortimĂ„o, Portugal. The festival’s busy 2022 continued in September, with the first ever Rolling Loud Toronto, headlined by Future, WizKid, and Dave, and Rolling Loud New York, headlined by Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky & Future.

In 2023, Rolling Loud expands its empire further, returning to Los Angeles for Rolling Loud California 2023 and venturing to Pattaya for Rolling Loud Thailand, its first-ever festival on the continent of Asia.

Icewear Vezzo & DJ Drama Share ‘Paint The City,’ a Star-Studded Gangsta Grillz Mixtape

  • Press Release

Icewear Vezzo & DJ Drama Share ‘Paint The City,’ a Star-Studded Gangsta Grillz Mixtape

    12.9.2022

Mixtape: Icewear Vezzo & DJ Drama –Paint The City

The Red Hot QC Signee Teams With DJ Drama’s For the First Gangsta Grillz Tape Showcasing a Detroit Rapper, Welcoming Guest Appearances From Future, Kodak Black, 2 Chainz, Jeezy & More

    Critical Praise:

“His latest project basks in the idea that an album this regionally specific can still have nationwide appeal.” – Pitchfork

“The King of contemporary Detroit rap” – HYPEBEAST

“As a Detroit hip-hop veteran, Icewear Vezzo has earned his position in the city’s hierarchy. With his first mixtape, The Clarity, dropping in 2013, and turning into a series, along with his presence in Detroit, the groundwork he’s put in over time is respected.”- XXL

“I don’t think a day will go by moving forward where he isn’t one of the main points in every conversation about rap all over the world.” – Lyrical Lemonade

    The Mixtape:

Respected across the nation for his slick-talking rhymes and hustler’s mentality, Icewear Vezzo is always on his grind. Marking a new milestone in his prolific career, the Detroit native connects with DJ Drama to share Paint The City, a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape. A natural evolution from Vezzo’s acclaimed Rich Off Pints 3 series, Paint The City finds the 6 Mile native spitting witticisms earned from a lifetime of hustling. The new mixtape bolsters Vezzo’s matter-of-fact flexes with Drama’s energetic exhortations, providing a jolt of electricity to the first-ever Gangsta Grillz tape by a Detroit rapper. Drama curates a selection of beats–many from regular Vezzo collaborators including Antt Beatz, Foreva Rollin, June Da Genius, and Max Beats–that contrast Vezzo’s signature piano-led menace (“RNS”) with a more triumphant sound that reflects the recent Quality Control signee’s successes (“Ain’t No Turning Back“).

Paint The City illustrates the immense respect that Icewear Vezzo commands in the rap game–the 6 Mile ambassador rolls out the red carpet for a list of renowned guest stars to talk their smack. The tape is home to the buzzing single “It’s All On U” ft. Kodak Black, which generated over 5 million streams on Spotify and 11 million views on YouTube, and “Certified,” a sinister slapper that envelops Future into Vezzo’s sonic realm. Recent single “One Time” features a standout verse from trap legend Jeezy, and the closing track “Trippin” boasts a typically witty appearance from 2 Chainz. Amidst all the star power, Vezzo makes sure to put on for the D, recruiting his East Side associates Peezy and GT for the propulsive Michigan banger “No Talking.” The first full-length to be released since Vezzo signed to Quality Control Music, Paint The City is available everywhere on all platforms via Iced Up Records/Quality Control Music.

Vezzo’s new deal with Quality Control marks the start of an exciting new period of success for the budding superstar. Consistently racking up more than 4 million streams on his catalog per week, Vezzo’s ambitions reach far beyond music, and even beyond the physical realm. The Iced Up Records CEO is a serial entrepreneur, starting his own businesses in fields as diverse as real estate, cannabis, snacks (We Eatin! brand recently dropped Vezzo’s own flavor of chips, called Vezzo Hotz), and jewelry maintenance. Vezzo is on track to be a pioneer in the burgeoning metaverse, with his own VezzoVerse launching soon and a forthcoming line of NFTs.

With limitless ambition and the work ethic to achieve his every desire, it’s only a matter of time before Icewear Vezzo takes over the game.

    The Background:

Respected from The A to The Bay and everywhere in between, Icewear Vezzo helped build the Detroit rap scene into the flourishing behemoth it is today.  Since releasing his first mixtape The Clarity in 2013, Vezzo built a large and loyal fanbase in The Mitten and beyond, feeding the streets and his 131k YouTube subscribers with high-quality releases and representing for Detroit on tracks by Big Sean, G Herbo, Drakeo The Ruler, DJ Mustard, Zaytoven, and many others. The 31-year-old artist frequently collaborates with other major figures in the Detroit scene, including Peezy and Babyface Ray, who he featured on his street hit –in just the past two years, Vezzo made waves with songs like Meg Thee Stallion” ft. Babyface Ray, GT & Veeze (7.8 million YouTube views. named one of the Best Songs of 2020 by Passion Of The Weiss), The Sit-Down” ft. Babyface Ray (6.2 million views), and Dog Action” ft. Rio Da Yung OG (10 million YouTube views).

In addition to his heavy stature in the rap game, Vezzo makes moves as an entrepreneur in multiple industries. He’s the owner of his own label Iced Up Records, recently launched the Iced Up Films, a production company whose first film Price Of Love (starring Vezzo himself) is available for rent on Amazon, and is the CEO of his own clothing company Drank God Clothing. Though he’s a self-made man, Vezzo never forgets to give back–his company Iced Up Realty focuses on providing affordable housing in the Detroit community in which he was raised, and he teamed up with his mom to start The Detroit Rappers Organization, which is heavily involved in seasonal giveaways and field trips for Detroit’s youth.

Who’s Next? Count on These AT Clients To Elevate Further in 2023

    12.09.2022

Take It From Us: We’ve Already Found 2023’s Biggest New Stars

Part of the fun of being a music fan is finding an artist just before they hit the big time. At Audible Treats, we specialize in finding these rising stars and helping them reach the next level. In the past few years, we’ve helped gently nudge artists like Lil Durk, Rod Wave, Latto, $NOT, Morray, Victoria Monet, Maxo Kream, and many others, on the way to Billboard number one hits, Grammy nominations, XXL Freshman inclusions, and many other milestones.

We were fortunate enough to work with a diverse and exceedingly talented roster of artists in 2022, each of whom have something special that cuts through the noise. These artists cut a unique figure from the moment they pick up the microphone. Listen to Ice Spice’s blasĂ© Bronx murmur, or CEO Trayle’s clipped conversational drawl, or Eem Triplin’s euphonious rasp, or Rich Amiri’s full-bodied baritone–these aren’t voices you’re likely to forget.

Take a look below to get familiar with some of the brightest rising stars in the industry today before they blow up.

Before we get to our selections, let’s take a look at how some of our 2022 picks raised their profiles:

    Dro Kenji:
    • The 20-year-old Kenji released two full-length projects and an EP this year, collaborating with the likes of NoCap, Mike Dimes, Ka$hdami, and many others
    • “Step Back,” Kenji’s single with Mike Dimes, spent multiple days on Spotify’s Viral 50 and racked up over 5 million streams on that platform alone
    • Kenji was a standout performer at SXSW, rocking the crowd at multiple showcases, including Rolling Loud & RapTV’s Stubb’s takeover
    Dusty Locane:
    • DUSTY LOCANE’s debut single “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN” earned GOLD certification from the RIAA, and DUSTY was named to the RIAA’s #Classof2021, alongside artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Coi Leray, Pooh Shiesty, and many more
    • The Canarsie native continued to elevate his game and establish himself as an ambassador for Brooklyn drill, releasing the successful Say Dat collaborative EP with Ron Suno, Rah Swish, and OnPointLikeOP
    • DUSTY is the leader of his 95MM crew, many of whom appeared on his recent mixtape Nightmare On Da Fifth

And now, some of our clients you’ll be hearing a lot more of in 2023…

    ICE SPICE:

Quotable, cool, and effortlessly viral, Ice Spice emerged in the summer of 2022 and took the world by storm. She lit a spark in the Bronx and beyond with her song “Munch (Feelin U),” an infectious and endlessly memeable banger that pointed to a fresh new path for NYC drill. Viral on TikTok (592k video creations) and other platforms, “Munch” racked up over 50 million streams across platforms, reached the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, and earned shoutouts from stars like Cardi B and Meek Mill. The 22-year-old rapper was quick to prove that “Munch” was no flash in the pan–her cartoonishly buoyant single “Bikini Bottom” trended, as well, with over 125k creations arising after her initial snippet went viral. With plaudits from Pitchfork and Rolling Stone (both of whom listed “Munch” in their “Best Songs of 2022” lists), The New York Times, and The Washington Post, plus features in Rolling Stone, NYLON, and Interview Mag (an interview with her hero Erykah Badu), it’s increasingly clear that Ice Spice has something special going on. The scary part…this is just the beginning.

    CEO TRAYLE:

    audible treats
    instagram | youtube | spotify | apple

With a slinky, ultra-smooth delivery and an ever-present grin on his lips, CEO Trayle cuts a singular, shadowy figure in the world of Atlanta rap. He approaches immersive instrumentals from odd angles, delivering conversational verses with sly humor and the charisma of a master thespian. Across his series of Happy Halloween mixtapes, the rapper positions himself as a villainous figure, menacing his opposition even as he charms listeners into rooting for him. Trayle took his anti-hero hijinks to a new level with HH5, released on its namesake holiday, home to highlights like the woozy “Chokehold,” the complex romantic drama “I Love You But…,” and especially, “Alter Ego 2,” a conversation between Trayle and his split personality C4 about the nature of fame and life on the streets. Following up the EP Vier, which earned praise from The FADER, HH5 is Trayle’s most acclaimed project to date, earning the coveted Best New Music label from Pitchfork.

Though 2022 was Trayle’s biggest year yet, the artist is not done evolving. Keep an eye on Mr. Back Door as he continues to rise from your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper to a mainstream sensation.

    EEM TRIPLIN:

Eem Triplin started his career producing for his close friend $NOT–you can thank him for “Revange” and “BENZO,” among others–but he spent 2022 proving that he has the music and the personality to become a major star in his own right. Born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a small municipality 75 miles east of Pittsburgh, the artist/producer has a knack for going viral with his winsomely melodic rhymes and his witty online persona in equal measure.

The Eem agenda kicked into high gear in the spring, when the 21-year-old released “AWKWARD Freestyle,” a self-produced, personality-filled song that used elements of Tyler, The Creator’s 2013 song of the same name. The song quickly went viral, inspiring thousands of TikTok creations, generating millions of streams on all platforms, and eventually reaching the ears of Tyler himself, who enthusiastically gave his co-sign. “AWKWARD FREESTYLE” generated over 20 million streams across platforms, and fans intrigued by the song quickly found that Eem had a full catalog of similarly vibey highlights to choose from, including singles like “Louie V” (6 million Spotify streams) and his latest track “JUST FRIENDS?” (3 million streams since its early September release). Recently, Eem made his first festival performance at Rolling Loud New York, performing in front of a sparse crowd but making sure that the folks in the crowd would remember him forever (even if they forgot their own names in the process).

Racking up hundreds of thousands of streams on his catalog per week, and growing on a near-daily basis, it’s only a matter of time before Eem Triplin is a household name.

    LOLA BROOKE:

    instagram | spotify | youtube | twitter | tiktok | soundcloud

Delivering diamond tough bars from a petite frame, Lola Brooke is turning heads in Brooklyn and beyond with her generation-spanning blend of NYC rap. Born in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Lola Brooke has worked hard her whole life to bolster the legacy of her hip-hop historic home neighborhood. In 2022, the artist turned heads with her hit song “Don’t Play With It” ft. Billy B, a proudly confrontational banger that shined a spotlight on her authoritative vocals as she confronted a city full of broke boys with withering dismissals. Lola made a name for herself with spectacular live performances, including a standout verse on the first-ever Ladies Cypher on On The Radar. In the fall, a clip of Lola performing “Don’t Play With It” resurfaced on TikTok, starting a viral moment and propelling the song up the TikTok trending charts (27.5k video creations). The raw power and undeniable charisma exhibited in “Don’t Play With It” earned Lola major co-signs, including from Cardi B, Meek Mill, and JT from the City Girls. Released in the wake of the rise of “Don’t Play With It,” Lola’s follow-up single “Here I Come” earned positive notices in Pitchfork, Okayplayer, VIBE, and many other publications.

With much more music on the way and the ear of the game’s best and brightest, Lola Brooke has the juice to become NYC’s next breakout star. Stay tuned.

    MIA GLADSTONE:

    audible treats

    instagram | spotify | twitter | youtube | soundcloud | website

Blending elements of hip-hop, DnB, R&B, and more into an ever-shifting, yet harmonious sonic realm, MIA GLADSTONE marches to the beat of drums that she’s programmed herself. Her songs change rhythms and modulate keys with ease, creating an unpredictable and fascinating atmosphere for her otherworldly harmonies and incisive lyrics that take a critical look at the fractured communication of the digital world. The North Carolina-based artist released her third project, LOOPY, in 2023, welcoming kindred spirits like Teezo Touchdown, Matt Martians, and Lance Skiiiwalker into her idiosyncratic world. The culmination of a three-year journey as a human exploring gender, sex, identity, fluidity, social media, the mind, and more, LOOPY finds the artist leaning into the idiosyncrasies that make her music so powerful.

“OPEN LETTER” is a freewheeling duet with Teezo Touchdown that explores intense infatuation and features some of Mia’s most soulful vocals. Mia critiqued the nastier elements of internet communication with the beat-shifting “TALKING ONLINE” ft. Belis, which earned praise from FLAUNT, who called it “a brilliant satirical dig at the limitations media places on the human psyche.”

Written in its entirely by MIA GLADSTONE, who also had a hand in the production of each of the project’s track, LOOPY establishes MIA GLADSTONE as a vital artist and one of the most creative producers in music today.

Deeply musical and wise far beyond his years, Detroit artist whiterosemoxie is looking to shape the rap game in his own image. Just 20-years-old, whiterosemoxie has established himself as one of the most forward-thinking and ambitious rising artists today. His music is meant to move people, combining deeply personal lyrics with atmospheric instrumentals and choruses meant to be chanted en masse. The young artist has generated over 30 million streams across platforms to date, including over 12 million on his first-ever release “whitegold.” Though he built his audience during the pandemic, he’s an astonishing performer, showing off his live chops at festivals like Rolling Loud Miami and HIVE Music Festival. Moxie shared his Habits EP earlier in 2022, but as accomplished as it is, that EP is prelude to his debut album HUMAN BEHAVIOR. Home to the pulse-quickening new single “Wayside,” HUMAN BEHAVIOR is focused examination of how difficult it can be to determine whether or not we are in control of or actually controlled by the forces in our lives.

Riding a wave of buzz, including praise from Pigeons & Planes, Moxie is primed to take his career to the next level. Stay tuned for HUMAN BEHAVIOR, coming in 2023 via 300 Ent.

Listening to Rich Amiri is like going through a wormhole–past and future collide upon themselves and emerge transformed, yet familiar. Amiri first emerged on SoundCloud, rhyming over far-out and atmospheric plugg instrumentals with a velvety voice that evokes stars of R&B’s past. He first earned recognition with his 2021 song “Never Fail,” which surpassed 2.7 million plays on SoundCloud, and he struck again late last year with his percolating hit “Walk In.” Amiri’s bubbling online presence drew the attention of Taz Taylor and Internet Money, who’ve become regular collaborators. In June, Rich Amiri shared For The Better, an astonishingly infectious debut project that featured Internet Money production and featured appearances from fellow rising stars SSGKobe, Summrs, Jaydes, and Desire. The Boston native continued in 2022 with the imperial single “Can’t Die,” which earned more than 1 million Spotify streams, and shifted gears for the romantic “Dirty Money” to close out the year. Continuing to push music forward with his powerful pipes, the talented teenager is a great bet to elevate his game in 2023.

    Year On TikTok 2022

2022 Year in Music on TikTok

TikTok is the driving force behind the world’s biggest cultural trends and movements, and music is at the heart of what makes TikTok special. As TikTok celebrates its Year On TikTok 2022, the game-changing platform shares an extension of the annual report, exploring the Year In Music on TikTok 2022. Take a peek behind the curtain at the music that resonated with the TikTok community this year and how it impacted the charts and culture at large.

From breaking countless hit records and driving chart success to opening the door to emerging artists, TikTok continues to empower and support the next generation of superstar artists while also breathing life into catalog classics. Artists use TikTok to build engagement, connect with their fans and find new ones, laying the foundations for future careers and creative success.

2022 saw a major rise in popularity for music created specifically for the platform, from sped-up remixes to open verse challenges to song-ified dialogue. TikTok didn’t just amplify hits in 2022, it made them.

As the TikTok community continues to grow and artists and creators find their fans, more opportunities emerge for every part of the music business. Whether independent or major-signed, creating, performing or simply experimenting, TikTok is driving success and real-world impact for artists, both artistically and commercially in every market.

Paul Hourican, Global Head of Music Operations:
“This year, we’ve seen music from every genre and every market take off globally on TikTok.  Swedish rapper Yung Lean has our most popular song of the year, closely followed by the talented Nicky Youre & dazy. Kim Loaiza and Bad Bunny brought Latin music to the world and no one could have predicted the global rap phenomenon that was ‘Jiggle Jiggle’ by Duke & Jones and Louis Theroux. Our community embraces and engages with music like no other, putting their own spin on sounds and breathing new life into old hits. These dedicated music fans, the artists and music creators and the sheer breadth and diversity of music is what we love about TikTok. I can’t wait to see what’s unearthed in 2023.”

Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music:
“Reflecting on 2022, it’s clear that artist success travels to our platforms, with 13 out of 14 Billboard Hot 100 number ones supported by viral trends on TikTok. Our platform continues to unlock real-world opportunities for artists and labels, with a brilliantly engaged community who love to build connections with artists and their music, and the impact of that is undeniable. Our teams are working globally with artists, managers and labels to unleash the promotional and marketing power of TikTok – helping talent to secure record deals, brand collaborations, chart success, or be re-discovered decades later. A huge thanks to all our partners around the world for helping make TikTok for making TikTok what it is and here’s to 2023.”

Celebrating the artists, music creators, sounds, and songs on TikTok that made 2022 truly #ForYou.

Year on TikTok 2022 is based on internal research and trends analysis conducted from January to October 2022.

    2022 Global Headlines:

    • Latin artists take the crown: Kim Loaiza takes the crown for most viewed artist account globally and Bad Bunny enjoyed the biggest follower growth in 2022. In fact, globally, 5 of the 10 most viewed artist accounts and 5 of the 10 artist accounts to experience the biggest growth made Spanish-language music.
    • From the underground to the top of TikTok: Swedish rapper Yung Lean’s 2013 track “Ginseng Strip 2002” is crowned the most used song on TikTok in 2022.
    • A shout out to SoundOn, TikTok’s distribution platform for emerging talent: Nicky Youre had the second most popular song by video creations with “Sunroof” after he joined the SoundOn program. On the strength of the success of “Sunroof,” Nicky Youre signed to Columbia Records this year. Brazilian SoundOn artist WZ Beat also saw global success with his smash hit “Beat Automotivo Tan Tan Tan Viral.”
    • TikTok loves a remix: From a legendary TV interview about rap culture in the early noughties to a global phenomenon, Louis Theroux and Duke & Jones “Jiggle Jiggle” makes the global top ten for most creations.
    • Driving commercial success: In 2022, 13 out of the 14 Billboard Hot 100 number one songs were driven by significant viral trends on TikTok, with 10 of the 12 Number Ones on the UK Official Singles Chart having a viral moment on TikTok too.
    • Going LIVE: We enjoyed tuning in to the biggest artists in the world across the year including Sam Smith, Camila Cabello, Lewis Capaldi, David Guetta and ABBA who chose TikTok to reach their fans as well as RosalĂa who made history with a GRAMMY & Latin GRAMMY nominated LIVE moment.
    • Speed Up, Slow Down: It’s the year we got faster and slower, with these TikTok trends upending the traditional track. Demi Lovato’s 2015 hit “Cool for the Summer” went viral with a “Sped Up (Nightcore)” remix via Speed Radio, Michael BublĂ©’s 2003 song “Sway” was given a sped up makeover which saw the track make a come back whereas Cat Burns’ “go” was bolstered to chart success via a sped-up remix.
    • Hip-Hop’s leading women make their mark: Women in rap carved out their own space on the platform, which helped launch artists like GloRilla, Ice Spice, and Dreya Mac to mainstream prominence in 2022
    • Soundtracks translated fandom into streaming success: TikTok is a hub for fandoms of all shapes and sizes, and they use music to organize their communities and share their love for their chosen media. Encanto led the way early in the year, as nearly every song on the soundtrack had a trending moment, especially “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which became the first number one hit from an animated Disney film in three decades. Stranger Things provided moments for catalog songs, as Kate Bush’s “Running Up The Hill (A Deal With God)” became one of the most-viewed songs on TikTok in 2022. Songs like Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” and Musical Youth’s “Pass The Dutchie” also rode the wave.

2020’s Yellow Tape took him to a new level, peaking at #8 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts and #14 on the Billboard 200. March 2021’s Dum & Dummer 2 with Young Dolph debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 and generated nearly 36k sales equivalent units across platforms and scored the fifth-biggest streaming debut on Spotify during its first week of release. October 2021’s Yellow Tape 2 debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Independents Charts. Currently boasting over 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Key Glock is breaking into the mainstream as we speak.

DUSTY LOCANE Sends A Message with ‘CATCH DA FLU’ EP

  • Press Release

DUSTY LOCANE Sends A Message with ‘CATCH DA FLU’ EP

    12.5.2022

EP: DUSTY LOCANE – CATCH DA FLU

The Rhymer From Canarsie (aka “The Flossy” aka “Da Flu”) Drops Off a Ferocious EP As a Gift To His Fans Before He Turns Himself In, Promising to Come Back Even Stronger

    Critical Praise:

“A rumbling voice that could be picked up on a seismograph” – Pitchfork

“He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with, and he knows it.” – Lyrical Lemonade

“…hard-hitting rhymes that will surely be heard blaring over car stereos in Brooklyn.” – HotNewHipHop

    The EP:

DUSTY LOCANE took the Five Boroughs by storm with his rumbling bass delivery and merciless rhymes. Capping off a torrent of activity from the Canarsie native, DUSTY shares CATCH DA FLU, a purposeful and powerful six-track EP. CATCH DA FLU arrives as DUSTY turns himself into the authorities, and the EP vibrates with the intensity of a rising artist making the most of his freedom. Featuring the breathless flows and gravelly melodies that made DUSTY one of Brooklyn’s biggest stars, CATCH DA FLU (named after DUSTY’s home borough of Canarsie, or Da Flu, and his “FLU GANG,” which he introduced in a recent song) is blessed with a heightened lyrical clarity, as DUSTY processes his feelings and flexes his muscles. CATCH DA FLU is available on all platforms via EMPIRE.

DUSTY speaks on his issues with the determined opening track “TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS,” as he makes clear that he values loyalty above all else, and spits cold hard facts about his status as one of the hottest rappers in the city: “I went from nothin in my bank account to $40k for a show/And  it’s 25 for the feature/Send my demons like I’m grim reaper/I was the one makin’ all the plays, y’all n****s stuck in the bleachers.” He concludes the song with a statement of faith in his 95MM associates, who he knows will hold it down while he’s away. The six-track effort includes additional highlights including the wavering and infectious “NO VACCINE,” as DUSTY promises that there’s nothing that can stop his FLU GANG, and the contemplative “MY WAY,” in which DUSTY channels another NYC native icon and promises that DUSTY’s current situation won’t stop him from lifting his friends and family out of poverty.

CATCH DA FLU arrives in the wake of NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH, a sinister project that dropped on Halloween. The new tape continues to cement the Canarsie native’s chokehold on the Brooklyn drill scene, while also taking the time to showcase the talents of DUSTY’s 95MM crew, including 3Kizzy, Kajun Waters, who recently teamed with DUSTY for the new banger “Chevelle,” SFIV5, Stelly Hundo, and OMB Jay Dee. Home to highlights like PRESSURE” and FLU GANG,” and the buzzing single ROLANDO 2 (Catch The Rain)” (1.1 million views in 2 weeks), NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH is available everywhere via EMPIRE.

NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH was the latest rung in DUSTY LOCANE’s ladder to stardom. He recently teamed up with his EMPIRE associates Rah Swish, OnPointLikeOP, and Ron Suno for the fierce SAY DAT EP,  home to peerless posse cuts like BUST DOWN” (1.2 million views) and “ANGELS & DEMONS” (1.1 million views). Earlier in the year, DUSTY dropped the ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN EP, which collected each installment of DUSTY, “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN ”  singles, including the recent “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN Pt. 3 (BEEN ROLLIN),” it’s TikTok-viral predecessor, and the GOLD certified original. The EP also featured his second-ever single, “Rolando (Caught In The Rain),” which generated hundreds of millions of streams across platforms.

Though he’s stepping away from the game for a while, DUSTY doesn’t see his situation as a setback–he’ll be back soon enough, focused and stronger than ever, as he continues his mission to elevate to A-List status.

“WHAT DON’T KILL ME MAKES ME 95 TIMES STRONGER,” said DUSTY on Instagram. “TO ALL MY REAL SUPPORTERS AND FANS ITS MORE ON DA WAY VERY SOON‌”

Xavier Wulf Rises Like the Morning Sun in “First Light” Video

    12.5.2022

Video: Xavier Wulf – First Light

The Underground Innovator Drops off the New Video for the Blood Shore Season 3 Highlight, Directed by DotComNirvan

    The Video:

Leading the vanguard of the Memphis underground, Xavier Wulf is always on the move. Emerging for the first time since releasing October’s Blood Shore Season 3 mixtape, the Hollow Squad head honcho connects with director DotComNirvan to share the new video for project highlight “First Light.” The tape’s Hitkidd-produced opening track features tense violin loops and hasty percussion, creating a cinematic martial arts vibe which Wulf leverages to deliver his sinister bars: “I ain’t finna play with none of you n****s or your homies/He said he wouldn’t run, found out that was bologna, b****!”

The DotComNirvan-directed video for “First Light” sets a high bar for the pair’s first collaboration. Blending live-action with animation, the video finds live-action Xavier approaching a series of opponents with his katana blade cloaked in smoke-illuminated blood red hues, before transitioning to anime-style combat scenes where Wulf appears as a ninja-like masked assassin, quickly doing away with each of his targets. Evoking cinematic styles of films like V for Vendetta and anime series like Cowboy Bebop, “First Light” continues to push Wulf’s status as a mythical figure in the rap world.

Pushing his sound forward with every release, Xavier Wulf is not even close to finished with his artistic journey.

Xavier Wulf will soon embark upon the “Midnight Club Tour – Dub Edition,” starting this April.

Icewear Vezzo Hustles Hard with Jeezy in “One Time” Video

The Detroit Heavy-Hitter Prepares for Paint The City, a Gangsta Grillz Mixtape Hosted by DJ Drama, Coming 12/8

The Celebrated 6 Mile Native Kicks It With a Trap Legend As He Prepares For His First Project with Quality Control Music

    The Video:

A slick-talking Detroit hero who’s steadily upped his ante in recent years, Icewear Vezzo drips with insights into successful street living. Teaming up with a fellow hustler for his latest music video, Vezzo shares “One Time” ft. Jeezy. Complete with the menacing piano lines and ominous bells that characterize many of Vezzo’s most beloved tracks, “One Time” is an anthem dedicated to the trappers and the flexers, with a countdown chorus that demands to be chanted by a crowd: “Three times for the n****s in heaven/Four times for the bad b*tches that’s steppin.” Vezzo and Jeezy are complemented by the energetic ad-libs of the legendary DJ Drama, who also appears in the music video. Directed by Diesel Films, the video finds Vezzo, Jeezy, and Drama relaxing in Vezzo’s native 6 Mile, as they turn up in an abandoned warehouse.

“One Time” hails from Paint The City, the upcoming mixtape by Icewear Vezzo. Hosted by DJ Drama, Paint The City is the latest edition of the DJ’s famous Gangsta Grillz series of tapes. The new video is the second glimpse of the upcoming tape, following God Bless The 6,” a collaboration with his fellow 6 Mile native Babyface Ray. The first full-length to be released since Vezzo signed to Quality Control Music, Paint The City is available everywhere on December 8th.

The upcoming tape arrives at the end of a banner year for the respected Detroit rapper. In July, Vezzo released his acclaimed Rich Off Pints 3, the concluding chapter of Vezzo’s signature mixtape series. Continuing the path set by 2021’s Rich Off Pints and Rich Off Pints 2, which generated a combined 150 million streams across platforms, Rich Off Pints 3 is the product of a man who has been through hell in the pursuit of better days. The tape recently earned praise from Pitchfork, who stated, “His latest project basks in the idea that an album this regionally specific can still have nationwide appeal.” Later in the summer, Vezzo connected with Kodak Black for It’s All On U,” a buzzing single that racked up over 5 million streams on Spotify and 11 million views on YouTube.

    Video: Antha Pantha -“Real B*tches

The A$AP Ferg-Co-Signed Rhymer Commands a Prison-Yard Posse in the Video For Her Fast-Paced and Hard-Hitting Debut Single

    The Video:

Bursting out of Harlem with bottomless bars, rapper Antha Pantha has no patience for fakeness. Making a ferocious first impression with her impressive debut single, the “Scrilla Hill” native shares “Real B*tches.” Announcing herself with a fierce growl before launching into her first verse, Antha Pantha dazzles with an animated delivery over triumphant horns and fast-paced 808s, alternating between clipped cadences and sly melodies to create her new anthem. Produced by NYC beatmakers Tweek Tune (Fivio Foreign, Lil TJay, A$AP Ferg) and LaChaleur (A$AP Ferg, Famous Dex), the new song is an ode to supreme self-confidence, as Antha implores listeners to stay true to themselves and elucidate what it means to be a “real ass b*tch”: “I only wear makeup at a photoshoot/Cause Ion need that sh*t just to look cute/A real pretty b*tch every day I wake up/It’s too hot for that sh*t it’s ’bout to cake up.”

In the video, directed by ICE STUDIOS, Antha proves that she can command any situation with her forceful personality. The clip opens with the New York native portraying a convict, as she recruits a loyal crew of pink jumpsuit-clad inmates in the prison yard. In other scenes, Antha leads a gathering of ATVs in her native Harlem, with assistance from A$AP Ferg, who makes a cameo. No matter the scenario, Antha’s personality shines through as she enthusiastically delivers her verses.

“‘Real B*tches’ is an anthem for women embracing the perfection of not being perfect while not giving a f*ck because you’re secure in who you are and what you stand for,” says Antha Pantha.

Obsessed with music, theater, and dance since she was a child, Antha made waves in Harlem with her outsized personality and undeniable talent. Her magnetic qualities attracted the attention of A$AP Ferg, a childhood friend of hers, who quickly became a close collaborator. Antha first earned mainstream attention in 2019 when she appeared on songs from Ferg’s Floor Seats series of EPs, most notably on the buzzing single “Wigs,” which also featured City Girls. In 2020, Antha went toe-to-toe with Ferg once again on the Hit-Boy-produced “Mask.”

With “Real B*tches,” Antha Pantha announces herself as a prodigious talent that deserves attention. Stay tuned for much more in 2023.

    The Background:

AnthonĂš Fowler, aka “Antha Pantha,” hails from Harlem, New York, growing up in a small neighborhood called “Scrilla Hill.” Antha fell in love with music, dance, and theater as a child citing Disney and Michael Jackson as early influences, and by the time she attended Harbor Science and Arts Charter School, Hip Hop and R&B became her new language. Her first taste of the music business came in 2019 when her childhood friend A$AP Ferg caught wind of her buzz around the neighborhood. Impressed with her lyrical prowess and animated delivery, Ferg instantly signed her to his newly established independent record label, Sewer Sounds. With her new single “Real B*tches,” and much more music on the way, Antha Pantha is more than ready to be NYC’s next big thing. She’s been creating art her whole life, molding her unique experiences into infectiously raw rap records that she’s ready to share with the world.

Trapland Pat Keeps on Truckin’ in “Road 2 Riches” Video

Trapland Pat Keeps on Truckin’ in “Road 2 Riches” Video

    11.30.2022

Video: Trapland Pat – “Road 2 Riches

The Bang Biz/Alamo-Signed South Florida Stunner Portrays a Ringleader of Masked Men in a Cinematic New Video Single

    Critical Praise:

“He’s subtly melodic and catchy even outside of the hook. He does the beat justice by making what he grew up with into something new.” – Pitchfork

“”Big Business is the #18 Best Rap Song of 2021–If “Big Business” is any indication, Trapland Pat may well become South Florida’s next rap auteur. In less than two minutes, he deftly connects Broward County’s disparate styles, vibrating at his own zany frequency.” – Passion Of The Weiss

“10 New Miami Rappers To Watch…Trapland Pat is unlike any other act to come out of South Florida. Since 2019, Pat has consistently delivered grimy bars and smooth cadences over an array of trap beats. Over the past three years, the Deerfield Beach native has been feeding his growing fanbase with singles like “Emergency” and “Dealings,” along with four projects: Exit 41, Pak Man, Interstate Baby, and 2020 Vision. (The last two albums were released via Fredo Bang’s imprint Bang Biz Productions/Create Music Group.) In 2021, Trapland Pat dropped his latest project, Thru Da Door, via Bang Biz, featuring collaborations with Kuttem Reese and Members Only rapper Kid Trunks. He’s still pushing his latest single, ‘Boondocks,”‘which dropped last month. However, on Instagram, Pat celebrated the anniversary of his song ‘Big Business’ and teased a potential remix coming later this year.” – Miami New Times

“Over the course of the last few weeks perhaps no one else has hit the scene as hard as Pat…The Florida rapper raps with wide-eyed astonishment, seemingly at his own bars sometimes which become as animated as his facial expressions. To be honest, the sheer confidence Trapland Pat employs on the track here just makes you want to pay attention or risk missing out on something.” – ELEVATOR

    “Trapland Pat makes pretty music.”Stereogum

    The Video:

With star qualities as unmistakable as his wide-eyed, iced out smile, Trapland Pat is cruising in a lane of his own. Returning with a full tank of gas and an endless supply of tropical vibes, the South Florida sensation shares his new video single, “Road 2 Riches.” Anchored by an instrumental from frequent collaborator Pepper Jack Zoe that makes steel drums resonate like organ pipes in a cathedral, “Road 2 Riches” finds Pat on a Waze route to the bag, with no time for detours: “They like, ‘Trap, you should scam,’ I’m like, ‘Scam why?’/23 hours for them birdies, that’s a damn job.”

The KillerJack-directed video for “Road 2 Riches” leans into its automotive imagery at full throttle, as Pat’s diamond-studded smirk and Peterbilt rig turn I-95 into Ice Road Truckers. Making a pit stop to stock up on essentials like styrofoam cups and bundles of Black and Milds before embarking on his journey, Pat’s locks in once he gets behind the wheel. He’s got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but he’s money-bound, so watch Trapland run it up.

“Road 2 Riches” follows recent cuts like “Z Land” and “Vibes” as Pat’s first new music since he shared the acclaimed Trapnificent mixtape this past summer. Pat’s first release for Bang Biz and Alamo Records, Trapnificent rolls out the red carpet for a tasteful selection of guests, including Fredo Bang, who signed Pat to his imprint Bang Biz and appears twice on the tape, Sacramento street hero Mozzy, NYC Winners Circle maestro Eli Fross, and Memphis’ own BIG30. Trapnificent earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the project a “zippy distillation of his regional roots” and said that Pat’s music is “extremely regionally and culturally specific, like so much exciting and promising new rap music.”

Ready to bring his searing street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be Broward County’s next big star.
