The Announcement:

Fusing rap, electro, and pop into a unique blend, the Nigeria-born, Atlanta-bred, and L.A.-based Daye Jack is forging the sound of Hip-Hop’s future. Today, Daye (pronounced like “Kanye”) releases his second retail EP Surf The Web via Warner Bros. Records, a standout collection of seven tracks that demonstrate the breadth of his talent. Inspired by our obsessive online culture and by the warm weather and music scene of his new hometown of Los Angeles, Surf The Web is a potent mixture of electronic and organic sounds, coalescing around Daye’s prodigious skills as a singer and a rapper. The EP features seven tracks about living a human life in a digital world, including previously-released highlights such as the Apple Music Beats 1-premiered, Zane Lowe-approved “Deep End,” which alternates percussive rhymes with delicate falsetto, the accurately titled “Raw,” played more than 363,000 times on SoundCloud, which features snapping boom-bap drums and “Death of Auto-Tune”-style guitars, and the bassy electro pop-rap banger “Finish Line,” (122,000 plays on SoundCloud). Featuring a guest appearance from Dev09 and production from the likes of Mike Elizondo (50 Cent, Eminem), Klas Ahlund (Robyn, Katy Perry, Madonna), Stefan Graslund (Charli XCX), Kiko Merley (Allan Kingdom) and MAG (Flo Rida’s “My House), Surf the Web is an endlessly replayable, detail-rich effort from one of music’s bright young talents.

Surf The Web is inspired by L.A.,” explains Daye Jack. “You’re getting the job done, but you’re doing it in a chill way—remaining clear and concise. The sonics were really inspired by early aughts classics likeJustified and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. I got really clear-headed in Los Angeles, and I wanted to make music you could listen to forever.”

Born in Nigeria, Daye Jack moved with his family to Atlanta at the age of six, splitting his time between soccer, computer programming, listening to Outkast, 50 Cent, and Eminem, and singing in choir. After high school, Daye earned a scholarship to NYU, majoring in Computer Science and furthering his musical development by absorbing the works of artists like Chance The Rapper, and deriving creative and collaborative inspiration from his talented classmates. In 2014, Daye released his breakthrough mixtape Hello Worldwhich caught the attention of Max Martin, who signed him to his publishing imprint, and Warner Bros. Records exec and producer Mike Elizondo, who signed him to a record deal.Since releasing his Soul Glitch EP in 2015, Daye has earned praise from outlets such as Billboard, Pitchfork and Pigeons & Planes, collaborated with the likes of Killer MikeAriana Grande, and Tori Kelly, and toured packed venues with Lukas Graham and Pell. Surf The Web, the latest step on Daye Jack’s evolutionary ladder, is available for purchase on iTunes and stream on Spotify and Apple Music.

His recent nomination for the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ “People’s Champ” Award makes it clear that the rest of rap world can’t deny it anymore either.

Rich Crack Baby is the third high-quality mixtape from Young Dolph’s busy 2016, following the release ofBo$$e$ and $hooter$ in May and King of Memphis in February. Noisey described King of Memphis, a 11-track dose of pure Dolph with no featured artists, as “a solid debut album from one of the most quietly popular artists in the South right now.” In addition to dropping an excellent mixtape every three months, the Memphis kingpin also frequently releases inventive visuals, including the hilarious “Get Paid,” and the absurd “Royalty,” which features cameo appearances from a capuchin monkey, a giraffe, and even a white tiger. In January, Forbes named Young Dolph one of The Hip-Hop Cash Princes of 2016, placing him alongside Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, and Metro Boomin, among others, and last month, Dolph successfully headlined the 21-date Royalty tour. With his star guest turn on “Cut It the hit by OT Genasis, Dolph made a foray onto the Billboard charts, peaking at number 35 on the Hot 100. Look for Dolph to close out 2016 in style with an appearance on Gucci Mane‘s upcoming Woptober and more eye-popping visuals.

    Young Dolph Background

Born on the South Side of Chicago and raised in notoriously known Castalia Heights neighborhood in South Memphis, Young Dolph emerged in the urban music scene and amassed a large dedicated fan base.  Dolph grew up in a hectic environment, surrounded by drugs and alcohol, but that never completely defined him. He always had a passion for music, but it wasn’t until his peers recognized his talent and suggested that he take rap seriously. Eventually his hustle mentality and creativity led him to consistently dropping mixtape after mixtape. With authentic punch lines and stern club bangers, he created his own lane of High Class Street Music.  On the strength of releasing consistent quality mixtapes, Dolph became one of the only independent musicians to have multiple Top 20 records with “Preach” and “California” and Top 40 records with “Make the World Go Around” and “Pulled Up.” Yet to release an album, the success Dolph has gained from his mixtapes have led to collaborations with some of the most influential artists in hip-hop including 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross. In 2015, Dolph headlined his own tour selling out throughout the country.

    EMPIRE Background

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels. Given its reputation, EMPIRE works with today’s hottest talent from superstars such as T.I. and red-hot newcomers such as Anderson .Paak. While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and joined forces with Republic Records for the release of Sage The Gemini’s Remember Me album.

Fighting Through His Grief, Scotty ATL Releases Carthatic New Album, Daily Bread

Album: Scotty ATL – Daily Bread

The Hard-Working Rapper Drops a Powerful and Engaging Record About Overcoming Grief and Loss

    09.21.2013

    Critical Praise for Scotty ATL:

“Scotty ATL has been consistently dropping solid music for quite some time now, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning to stop anytime soon.” – Complex

“Scotty ATL is the ultimate blue-collar rapper that you don’t have to try and relate to—it just comes natural.” – Mass Appeal

    The Album:

A quintessential hustler with enough talent to carry the weight of his city on his back and in his name, Scotty ATL makes engaging street tales about the daily grind. Today, Scotty releases Daily Bread, his latest full-length out via his own Cool Club Records, a career highlight premiered by XXL about how grief amplifies the impact of everyday struggles. Daily Bread is a cathartic culmination of a rough year for Scotty ATL. While on tour with B.o.B in March, Scotty lost four people close to him in the span of four weeks, including the late Atlanta rapper Bankroll Fresh. Unable to say goodbye to his friends in person, Scotty channeled all of the sweet and sorrowful memories of his friends into Daily Bread. Though Daily Bread touches upon heavy subject matter, it is still an engaging listen, lifted by Scotty’s easy charisma and his determination to live his life and push through his grief. “Some of the greatest rappers told their life stories,” explains Scotty ATL. “That’s what I’m doing. I’m giving people my real life, the good, the bad and the ugly.” With perceptive lyricism and an impressive tonal consistency, Daily Bread is one of Scotty ATL’s most accomplished efforts yet.

Scotty ATL continues: “It feels wonderful to get this project out of my body, mind, and spirit. I had to overcome a lot just to get it out. With this particular project I wanted for people to see my growth as an artist and as a lyricist, I wanted my fans to be able to follow the story of who I am as a person and I what went through. Some people didn’t want me to pull these stories out, some wanted me to go the regular route and put out a hot album with singles. I had label situations that wanted to sign me and told me to shelve this deeply personal project and create an album full of bangers instead so they could push them to radio. In my mind, I think the way music is today, it’s different with the J. Cole’s and Kendrick’s and the Nipsey Hustles of the world. Those are the guys that stand true as artists and to they fans and it’s working. And a single will come out of it if it’s supposed to. I don’t think I need to follow the blueprint of the music industry, I blaze my own trail, just like I have always have.”

Daily Bread is an album rooted in tragedy and triumph, focusing on Scotty’s personal growth and lessons learned. Album highlights include lead single “So High,” a stoner’s anthem featuring Jaydot Rain, the FADER-premiered “Bye Bye,” a heartfelt lamentation to lost homies featuring a beautiful guest spot by Ty Dolla $ign, and “Kno That U Will,” a Southern-fried trap ballad with a hook from Kissie Lee. With production from DJ Burn OneKE On the Track, and Cory Mo, among others, Daily Bread follows in a noble tradition of songs like Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y.,” exploring the excesses and the consequences of a rapper’s life. A rapper, producer, record label owner, and entrepreneur, Daily Bread is the result of a career’s worth of grinding, and it is available to purchase on iTunes or to stream on Spotify.

    Scotty ATL Background:

Everything about Scotty ATL is definitively southern. From the way he positions his ‘A’ hat atop his head down to the flip-flop and socks on his feet, he’s an authentic offspring of the culture that has raised him. Hailing from the city’s eastside, Scotty ATL is the funk and soul of Outkast mixed with the political and social-consciousness of Goodie Mob, but from a perspective all his own. An utterly independent spirit with a distinct drawl and vernacular, his name embodies his persona. Scotty ATL is all things Atlanta, yet his movement is worldwide, which is neither by coincidence nor chance.

A hustler since the womb, Scotty ATL formed his own label Cool Club, an ode to his style and attitude upon entering the business of entertainment. The street-smart rapper then began effectively building his brick-by-brick campaign putting in countless hours and money to expand his presence. As a result, he released a succession of popular mixtapes starting with the debut of 2011’s Summer Dreams hosted by DJ Burn One, which ignited a cult-like following. He released other successful projects such as In The Meantime, The Jiffy Cornbread Experience, F.A.I.T.H (Forever Atlanta In The Heart), In The Meantime 2 and SPAGHETTI Junction, all of which spawned notable singles. In 2014, he joined forces with Grammy-nominated artist B.o.B’s No Genre imprint and embarked on a nation-wide tour billed the Cool Club Tour. The following year he was featured on the remix to Curren$y’sCloud IX” and followed that up with the instant classic The Cooligan, a 16-track composition hosted by DJ Scream and DJ Mike Mars. The pivotal mixtape featured collaborations with Curren$y, CyHi The Prynce, 8Ball, Devin The Dude, and B.O.B, with production credits going to KE On The Track, DJ Burn One, and Drumma Boy.

Scotty ATL and Ty Dolla $ign Pour One Out for Bankroll and Others on “Bye Bye”

Song: Scotty ATL ft. Ty Dolla $ign – “Bye Bye”

The Hard-Working Atlanta Emcee Pours One Out For Lost Friends in This FADER-Premiered Single

    09.20.2013

    Critical Praise for Scotty ATL:

“Scotty ATL has been consistently dropping solid music for quite some time now, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning to stop anytime soon.” – Complex

“Scotty ATL is the ultimate blue-collar rapper that you don’t have to try and relate to—it just comes natural.” – Mass Appeal

    The Song:

Though rap songs can often depict a glamorous life, Scotty ATL understands that a life in the hood often leads to difficult losses. The latest single from Scotty’s upcoming Daily Bread album, “Bye Bye” explores the human toll of the hustle. Enlisting Ty Dolla $ign for some sweetly-sung farewells, Scotty reminisces about some of his lost friends, including the late Atlanta rapper Bankroll Fresh, regretting that he often did not have the chance to say goodbye in person. Premiered today by FADER, “Bye Bye” is a touching trap ballad, made even more affecting by its specificity: “We was comin’ up, you had blowed up/Vibe Mag 2016 together/FaceTime you was lit as fuck/Didn’t get to say bye to you, dog..wish you could see how they fuck with you.”

Hitting stores September 21stDaily Bread is an album rooted in tragedy and triumph. Explains Scotty ATL, “In March my close homie lost his stepmom–stabbed to death by his little brother who is now in jail for life. They lived down the street from me, I’ve known them for over ten years. They are like family to me. Another one of the people I lost committed suicide. I was on the way to give him tickets to my show, within 15 minutes he was dead. When I got there, that was my first time seeing anyone dead. Bankroll Fresh and I were working on a CD together when he died. The fourth one is a friend from Chicago. He was coming to ATL, aspiring to be a rapper.”

Daily Bread is informed by tragedy, but it does not dwell on it, focusing instead on Scotty’s personal growth and lessons learned. With features from Ty Dolla $ignJaydot Rain, and Kissie Lee, and production from DJ Burn OneKE On the Track, JayeLL, and Cory Mo, among others, Scotty describes the album as “my version of Tupac’s ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ or UGK’s Ridin’ Dirty or Outkast’sSouthernplayalisticadillacmuzik.” A rapper, producer, record label owner, and entrepreneur, Daily Breadis the result of a career’s worth of grinding, and it stands as one of the rapper’s most accomplished efforts.

    Critical Praise:

“…he uses his voice and flow in unique ways that only someone who’s been writing for close to a decade could pull off”HotNewHipHop

“The future is looking type bright for J.R.”Fake Shore Drive

“J.R. Donato is poised for mainstream success” – Dirty Glove Bastard

    The Song:

A veteran in the rap game at only 22, J.R. Donato is a flow architect with an engaging personality. Premiered today by Dirty Glove BastardTrap Never Closedis the first single from the Chicago artist’s upcoming Why So Serious? mixtape. Riding a percussive cadence over dramatic strings and drill synths, the Taylor Gang emcee celebrates his unbeatable work ethic and flexes his prized possessions, adding a memorable, stuttering hook for good measure. Releasing later this fall, Why So Serious is a proper follow-up to last year’s Fast Money & Freedom, his Taylor Gang debut, produced entirely by Sledgren. “Trap Never Closed” follows the release of “All That I Need,” a Fake Shore Drivepremiered loose video single filmed at Chicago’s Fat Tiger Workshop, and the HipHopDX-debuted “Not For None, which dropped in May and featured the rapper dancing around Inception-horns and spiraling sine waves, finding colorful new ways to boast about his lifestyle.

Born and raised on North Chicago, Illinois, J.R. Donato started rapping in his early teens, earning a local hit at age 13 under the name Young JR. During his junior year of high school, Donato supportedTwista on a regional tour and eventually caught the ear of Wiz Khalifa, who featured J.R. on his Cabin Fever 2 mixtape and later signed him to Taylor Gang Entertainment. Donato also contributed a standout verse to Wiz Khalifa‘s “Make a Play,” featured on the Billboard Top 10 peaking Khalifa album. Carefully planning his next move, J.R. Donato is honing his flow and perfecting his craft for his next breakthrough project. “I sound like myself. These days that’s not easy,” J.R. Donato explained in an interview withAllHipHop. “The line for originality is thin, but I think I can walk that line fine. Also all my music has a message in it so it’s always relatable, and that’s what the game needs.”

    JR Donato Background:

J.R. Donato’s music can be summed up into three words; conceptual, vivid and thorough. His image, outlook on life and positivity that he brings to the hiphop community is a breathe of fresh air. His passion manifested itself early in the form of songwriting. “I always wrote about things I had been through or seen,” J.R. says. “I still do. Every song is another piece of my life and story.” Before J.R. reached his teenage years, he was already penning lyrics for himself and others. By the time he was 13, Young J.R. had a regional hit single “500 Degrees,” with a live performance presence that was unheard of for a kid who just left his teens. That led to other tracks like “Money On My Mind” and “We Be Rydin,” creating a sizeable buzz for young entertainer. He was popping up on mixtapes and performing at clubs he was too young to even attend.

    💩 💩 Shit Show: GG Allin Emojis 💩 💩

Emoji Fame Resurrects GG Allin In Emoji Form 💩💩

Notorious Punk Icon is Immortalized in Revolting Set of Emojis

    09.19.2016

    The Emojis:

A new set of GG Allin custom emojis is now available via Emoji Fame, the go-to company specializing in making emoji sets for musicians. Thus far, the artist emoji space has been dominated by hip-hop and EDM acts, GG’s set is one of the first punk rock available. Dangerous Minds had the exclusive on the launch of the set.

“Love him or hate him, GG Allin is an icon,” said Gavin Rhodes, co-founder of Emoji Fame. “The process of distilling GG into emojis was equal parts revolting and exhilarating, which I think is a good way to sum up his persona. The emojis we created for him reflect that duality.”

The set, jointly developed between Emoji Fame, Merle Allin, and collectibles company Aggronautix, is a rogues galley of multiple eras of both GG and The Murder Junkies; there’s a bloody, jockstrap-only GG; a no-eyebrows, fascist-stached Merle, and a pretty vacant Dino the Naked Drummer. Perhaps more exciting are the everyday objects you’ve always wished existed in emoji form: a turkey baster, a dirty toilet, a burning bible, and many more GG delights.

“It was fun to think back and develop the imagery relating to GG and his legacy,” said Merle. “These emojis are for you sick fucks who want to keep GG and his scumfuc tradition alive… Keep spreading the disease.”

The emoji set is available now at http://itunes.emojifame.com

    Emoji Fame:

Emoji Fame makes custom emojis from your favorite musicians, celebrities and brands. Emoji Fame has been featured in Complex, Billboard, Noisey, Guitar Player, The Houston Chronicle, SF Weekly, and Bill Simmon’s The Ringer. Unlike other apps, Emoji Fame’s are officially licensed by the artists, which means fans’ in-app purchases help them continue making the art that you love.

Emoji Fame is the ONLY officially licensed emoji app that allows fans to message friends with custom emojis, text, and iOS emojis in the same message. Their clever custom keyboard allows fans to communicate with custom emojis in the way that emojis were meant to be used- as part of their everyday texts and emails.

Song: Caleborate – “Good Great” (Prod. by Kuya)

The Berkeley Rapper Follows Up the Acclaimed 1993 With a Soulful Loose Single, Premiered By HotNewHipHop

    09.16.2016

    Critical Praise for Caleborate

“One to watch in 2016.” – Pigeons & Planes

“Caleb has proven himself to a MC in the purest form, eschewing the flashy brag raps for a centered focus on precise wordplay and introspective storytelling paired with some of the best production that the Bay can offer.”EARMILK

“One of the Bay Area’s most promising upcoming artists” Good Music All Day

lyrical mastermind” –  East Bay Express

Caleborate delivers his rhymes with the confidence of a vet” – Complex

…one of the most promising spitters coming out right now” – XXL

a mix of personal songwriting and quick wit” – The FADER

“Caleb comes across like someone who’s honest with himself and everyone around him” – Uproxx

“Caleborate’s album 1993 [is] one of the best, if not the best, Bay Area rap albums of the year.” – KQED

    The Song:

Gifted with plainspoken wit and an affinity for wordplay, 23-year-old Caleborate is one of hip-hop’s most promising young voices. Premiered by HotNewHipHop, “Good Great” is a soul-sampling, celebratory track with thumping bass about achieving success in the music industry after overcoming hardship. “Good Great” expands upon many of the sounds and themes heavily featured in 1993, Caleborate’s most recent album, focusing on how people change when someone achieves success. Featuring appearances bySylvan LaCue and Pell, as well as production from P-Lo, Mikos Da Gawd, HBK’s Kuya Beats, Cal-A, and Julia Lewis, 1993 combines nostalgia for the 23-year-old rapper’s childhood and explores Caleborate’s unique generational point-of-view through complementary beats and great storytelling.

Caleborate had a busy summer ’16, sharing quality tracks from1993, including the VIBE-premiered single “Options,” a soulful summer jam, which you can find on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist, and loose tracks like last month’s FADER-premiered “Made Me,” which reflects on Caleb’s struggles and motivations. The follow-up to 2015’s Hella Good, which received critical praise from Pigeons & Planes,The Source, and SF Weekly, which named it the Best Hip-Hop Album of the Bay Area for 2015, 1993received rapturous critical acclaim upon release, with Complex raving, “Caleborate delivers his rhymes with the confidence of a vet” and EARMILK calling the album “the soundtrack to your 20’s.” Says Caleborate, “Although the title of this project may seem a bit exclusive to certain generations, it is meant to be felt by everyone who has been, currently is, or will be a twenty-something.” 1993 is available to stream and download now.

    Caleborate Background:

A Berkeley bred student of hip-hop and all around eclectic artist, Caleborate has been renowned as one of the games most promising emcees. With lyrics that represent the unique struggles of the average 20-something, and stanzas about the day to day grind as a collegiate youth, he covers topics far and wide and is anything but shallow. After being awarded the “Best Hip Hop Album of The Bay Area” in 2015 by SF Weekly, Caleborate is poised to sit cross-legged atop the hip-hop genre someday.

wifisfuneral Shows That “Hell On Earth” Is Also Full of 🔥🔥🔥

Song: wifisfuneral – “Hell On Earth”

Currently Headlining the Black Heart Revenge Tour, wifisfuneral Drops New Grimm Doza Produced Single

    09.13.2016

    Critical Praise:

“‘It Don’t Matter’ puts Wifisfuneral over a raucous, Robb Bank$-produced beat, with keys straight out of a science fiction film. He raps about women, drugs, being fearless, and most importantly, ignoring people who talk too much. Never get too wrapped up in the naysayers and the time wasters; they’ll never help you be great. The song is visceral, it gets to point, and it should be played as loudly as possible.” NOISEY

“Wifisfuneral is one of the emerging underground champions who is proving he can play to packed venues across North America and dominate the online world.” – HYPETRAK

    The Song:

At just 19-years-old wifisfuneral is starting to get national attention. The Palm Beach, Florida rapper racks up SoundCloud plays at a prodigious rate, already amassing over 9 million total streams, and he continues to earn more, releasing single “Hell On Earth” which has already been played over 37,000 times. The hazy lurching Grimm Doza produced beat of horror movie melodies and bass rumbles give wifi the perfect platform to prove he deserves the attention he gets and that’s exactly what he does, spitting a dark verse full of clever lines and wordplay. “Hell On Earth” follows up the video for “Just a Year Ago,” a come-up anthem featuring Danny Towers premiered by The Smoking Section. Ever grinding, wifi released both while on the Black Heart Revenge Tour, his first headlining tour. Commencing earlier this summer, the tour features supporting appearances from $ki Mask The Slump God and Danny Towers, and stops tonight in Santa Cruz at The Catalyst.

The Black Heart Revenge Tour arrives hot on the heels of wifisfuneral’s breakthrough project, Black Heart Revengewhich earned wifi a co-sign from Earl Sweatshirt and charted at #69 on the iTunes Hip-Hop Chart with virtually no promotion. Praised by Complex as a “raw brand of turn up music meant to be played at high volumes in his hometown of Palm Beach and beyond,” Black Heart Revenge, which released via wifi’s own label Rich Life Records, marks the beginning of a promising career for wifisfuneral, featuring tracks like the braggadocious “It Don’t Matter,” which earned over 771,000 plays on Soundcloud, the Yung SVGE-produced anthem “Lights” (589,000 plays), and the dark, street banger “Trap $pot” (459,000 plays). Last month, Mass Appeal premiered the eerie, candlelit video for “Grim,” and VIBE Magazine profiled wifisfuneral in their “NEXT” series. With the Black Heart Revenge Tour, wifisfuneral will look to expand his devoted fanbase and bring his dark sonics and complex lyricism to a national audience.

    Wifisfuneral Background

In just one year, nineteen year old South Florida rapper Wifisfuneral has taken his dark sonics, mature-beyond-his-years lyrics, and trunk rattling bass from the streets of Palm Beach to the world, amassing over 8.5 million streams and over 60,000 followers across all platforms. Wifisfuneral’s growth has been organic and cult-like, with his fans spreading his music like wildfire with each and every release. With virtually zero promotion other than his social media presence, Wifisfuneral’s most recent mixtape Black Heart Revenge (May 27th, 2016) reached #69 on the iTunes hip-hop charts despite being available for free.

Scotty ATL Gives Us This Day Our Daily Bread, Announces New Album And Drops First Single, “So High”

Album: Scotty ATL – Daily Bread

Scotty ATL Opens Up About An Incredibly Challenging Year Fraught with Tragedies and How He Coped With It All

    09.13.2013

    Critical Praise for Scotty ATL:

“Scotty ATL has been grinding hard for years”XXL

[Scotty ATL] shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon” – HotNewHipHop

“Scotty ATL is the ultimate blue-collar rapper that you don’t have to try and relate to—it just comes natural.” – Mass Appeal

    The Announcement:

Scotty ATL has never been a stranger to hard work. The Atlanta native is a rapper, record producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, CEO of Cool Club (his own record label), and the owner of Atown Grillz. With ambition like this, the lofty goals Scotty set for his upcoming album Daily Bread shouldn’t come as a surprise. Scotty described the upcoming project as “My version of Tupac’s ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ or UGK’s Ridin’ Dirty or Outkast’s Southernplayalisticadallacuzik.” Those are lofty names to compare yourself to but with Scotty’s proven track record of being able to grind as hard anyone, the fact that he lives up to them shouldn’t come as a surprise either. The project features Ty $, Jaydot Rain, and Kissie Lee and has track produced by KE On the Track, JayeLL, and Cory Mo among others. In the run up to the album, which he’s releasing on September 21st, Scotty will host listening parties in Houston (9/14),Los Angeles (9/15), and Atlanta (9/16), where Chef Marlo will cook for guests.

On Daily Bread, Scotty spits sincere and personal rhymes over a steady supply of soulful beats. However, the album comes at a tumultuous time. Scotty lost four people close to him before going on tour with B.o.B. earlier this year, and then while on four more while on tour and shortly after he got back, a cousin. Scotty pushed through the tragedy by reading books, jogging, meditating, seeing a counselor, and putting in long hours at the lab. The result is an album that is at once tragic and triumphant. “The greatest rappers tell their life stories. That’s what I’m doing. I’m giving people my real life, the good, the bad and the ugly,” Scotty explains when asked about the subject matter for the album, adding, “I focus on lyrics, focus on content and subject manner. I’m branding myself as a lyricist from ATL, like a T.I. or an Outkast, who can give some game on a track. I talk about both sides of the streets, meaning sometimes people can only glorify the streets but not warn about the dangers. I live that lifestyle but I’d also advise you to save money. Street but conscious. If you’re risking your life every day, make it count.”

Today, Scotty drops “So High,” the lead single featuring Jaydot Rain. Offering a hint of what’s to come, the track exemplifies Scotty’s celebratory side. Chimes tip-toe over the bass rumbling beat produced by KE On The Track, Scotty adds swaggering lines boasting about “sold out shows” and how his “neck is freezing” as well as being “So High.” The track is a standout from the album, which will be releasedSeptember 21st with 7 tracks on SoundCloud and 10 on the retail version.

    Daily Bread Tracklist:

Mississippi Rising Star and K Camp Collaborator Lil Lonnie Switches Up His Style in His New Video

Video: Lil Lonnie – “Switch Up”

The Jackson Native Stunts in His Hometown in the WorldStarHipHop-Premiered Video

    09.12.2016

    output_uqo04o

    The Video:

Splitting his time between attending college at Jackson State University and crafting melodic trap bangers, Lil Lonnie is one of Southern Rap’s most charismatic rising stars. An auto-tune-heavy banger with an infectious hook, Switch Up is a highlight from Lonnie’s TKWGO 2 mixtape. Viewed over one million times on YouTube and WorldStarHipHop since its release on Sunday, the video for “Switch Up” begins like a typical trap video, with Lonnie stunting outside a neighborhood convenience store with a video vixen, but takes a turn for the artistic–live-action footage alternates with black-and-white storyboard-style animation. Released in June 2016, TKWGO 2 is the sequel to last year’s underground hit They Know What’s Goin’ On, which was a popular independent mixtape on LiveMixtapes in 2015, and features appearances from Bryson TillerK Camp, and Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd and production from Big FruitWill-a-Fool and others.

Born and raised in the notoriously tough Virden Addition region of Jackson, Mississippi, Lil Lonnie made music as a means of escape. In high school, he started his hip-hop career as a producer and after gaining some statewide attention, Lil Lonnie decided to demonstrate his skills behind the mic. He released his breakthrough single, “I’m The Type” in early 2015, which opened the doors to local radio and club shows. Lonnie is currently a student at Jackson State University in Mississippi, where he studies Mass Communications.

TKWGO 2 is packed with radio-ready highlights, including “Colors,” a melodic anthem that has racked up over 2.7 million views on YouTube and the Billboard-premiered “Change Up,” a skeletal kick-drum driven trap banger about staying true to your day ones. Featuring a hook from R&B star Bryson Tiller and production from Big Fruit (Yo Gotti’s “Law”), Soundcloud users have played “Change Up” over 437,000 times. Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd joins Lil Lonnie on “Jealous,” a low-key ode to pimpin’ produced by Trell Got Wings. In June, K Camp joined Lonnie for “Special (Remix),” a video debuted on WorldStarHipHop. It’s only a matter of time before one of these tracks finds its way to radio and propels Lil Lonnie to the next level of stardom.

Hail to the Chief: Eric Bellinger Campaigns For the Nation’s Highest Office in New Mixtape

Mixtape: Eric Bellinger – Eric B. For President: Term 1

The Grammy Winning Singer-Songwriter Releases His Latest Project, Premiered by VIBE

    09.09.2016

    eric b for prez

    Critical Praise for Eric Bellinger:

“Eric Bellinger is an up-and-coming R&B singer who has tons of talent and could make some waves very soon.”  – Complex

“Eric Bellinger—the Los Angeles singer/songwriter whose single with Problem, “I Don’t Want Her,” made waves last year—fits somewhere between Ty Dolla $ign’s of-the-moment snap and Ne-Yo’s oh-so-earnest mid-’00s R&B.” – FADER

“If you’re single or trying to find signs of love in the world, Eric Bellinger will make you believe in love again.” – Singersroom

    The Mixtape:

Hail to the Chief. A rising young R&B talent with silky vocals and prodigious skills as an emcee, Eric Bellinger returns to the national forefront with his new mixtape Eric B. For President: Term 1. Premiered today by VIBE, the mixtape is a potent fusion of Hip-Hop and R&B, featuring sensuous bedroom jams like “Remind Her” alongside street rap bangers such as “Snappin’ and Trappin’.” An accomplished songwriter with a Grammy win and an endorsement from Barack Obama, the Compton-born artist named the mixtape as a salute to “Eric B. Is President,” the classic track from Eric B. & Rakim‘s iconic Paid in Full. Featuring appearances from RJ11:11, ARoc, and Phil Ade, who guests on the lavish Billboard-premiered album highlight “In My Prime“, Eric B. For President is a fully-realized artistic effort, showcasing Bellinger’s considerable talents with melody and providing an ideal soundtrack for this election season.

Explains Eric Bellinger: “‘Eric B. is President’ has been a phrase that has stuck with me my whole life. They opened doors for generations of artists to prosper in this industry. This is my way of saying thank you and providing physical proof that they made a difference. Plus with this project being more hip hop driven and a campaign that could potentially put the first female president in office, it was only right. With the stress our country is always under when deciding who’s best to lead us, I wanted to create an experience that would please the ears, eyes, and hearts of people, while showcasing my personal beliefs on who I think will serve our people best.  In my opinion, to possess the level of outreach I have and not shed light on this matter would be irresponsible. I just want to do my part – my way.”

A talented athlete in high school, Bellinger turned down a scholarship from Division I football powerhouse USC to follow his musical passion, joining the R&B group AKNU and signing to Epic Records in the early ’00s.  After AKNU disbanded, Eric, the grandson of “Rockin’ Robin” singer-songwriter Bobby Day, discovered his passion for songwriting. Under the tutelage of acclaimed songwriters such as J.R. Rotem and Rodney Jerkins, Bellinger racked up dozens of songwriting placements, including hits forUsher (“Lemme See”) and Justin Bieber (“Right Here), eventually earning a Grammy for working on Chris Brown‘s F.A.M.E. Bellinger emerged as a solo artist in 2013 with his first mixtape The Rebirth, and hit his stride as a hitmaker with Cuffing Seasonwhich peaked at #6 on the Billboard R&B Chart, and Cuffing Season Part 2which included the hit radio single “Valet” featuring 2 Chainz and Fetty Wap. Earning over 10 million views on YouTube, Eric has established himself as a bonafide hitmaker as an artist and a songwriter, and he cements that rep with Eric B. For President: Term 1, available now on iTunes and Spotify.

    Eric Bellinger Background:

Over the last 6 years, Eric Bellinger has become one of the music industry’s most sought after songwriters while also proving himself to be equally talented as a singer and a rapper. Seamlessly fusing smooth and retro R&B melodies with edgy hip-hop, Bellinger, the grandson of “Rockin Robin” songwriter Bobby Day, has earned the reputation as quick yet intuitive songwriter. Having collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter/producers J.R. Rotem and Rodney Jerkins, the Compton, California native has quickly racked up more than 80 song placements just in the last two years alone, writing for Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Usher, Trey Songz, Jennifer Hudson, The Game, and Janelle Monae. He has scored hits with his songwriting for Justin Bieber (“Right Here,”) Usher (“Lemme See,”) and Chris Brown (“Fine China.”) His work with Brown, specifically his contributions to Brown’s album F.A.M.E., also earned him a Grammy award. Following 10 years of being in singing groups, the former church boy singer formally stepped out as a solo artist in 2013, steadily churning out a series of well-regarded mixtapes. Working with artists including 2 Chainz, Kid Ink, Mya, Ty Dolla $ign, and Sage the Gemini, Bellinger quickly found success as a solo artist, selling out his U.K. tour, getting his independent label YFS distributed by Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment, and amassing over 10 million views on YouTube. Bellinger has come full circle as a triple-threat talent, simultaneously forging a burgeoning solo career while further cementing his reputation as one of R&B and pop music’s top go-to writers.

East Oakland’s Funkiest Human, Ezale, Teams with DJ Fresh for The Tonite Show with Ezale

Album: Ezale & DJ Fresh – The Tonite Show With Ezale

Oakland’s Funkiest Emcee Drops His Second Full-Length Project, Premiered by The FADER Who Insists It’s “The Funk-Rap Odyssey You Need”

    09.09.16

    Critical Praise for Ezale:

“Oakland rapper Ezale is the funkiest human on the planet.”Buzzfeed

Ezale’s The Tonight Show with Ezale is the funk-rap odyssey you need.”The FADER

One of the best albums of the year” – XXL

    The Album:

With an effortless, endless flow and an affinity for funky beats, Ezale is the latest eccentric personality to burst onto the national scene. Hailing from the East Oakland community of Highland Park, better known as Funktown, Ezale returns today with The Tonite Show with Ezale, premiered via The FADER, a collaboration with the venerable Oakland producer DJ Fresh that XXL callsOne of the best albums of the year.” A ten-track collection of silky smooth keys, slinking basslines, and laid-back drugged-out wordplay, The Tonite Show with Ezale is the follow-up to Ezale’s popular 2014 mixtape Drug Funnie. Available today on iTunes and Spotify, The Tonite Show with Ezale is the latest volume in DJ Fresh’s Tonite Show series, which features installments from the likes of Raekwon, Mozzy, Trae Tha Truth, Freddie Gibbs, Mistah F.A.B., Keak Da Sneak, J Stalin among others. “For anybody in the Bay Area growing up, you damn near thought anyone DJ Fresh did an album with was signed,” explains Ezale to The FADER. “And I thought they were signed to a major label. That’s how much I loved DJ Fresh. I always wanted to do a Tonite Show and I knew that if I ever got to do one, I wasn’t gonna play with it.”

Expanding upon the mob-inspired sound of predecessor Drug FunnieThe Tonite Show with Ezale is packed with rider’s anthems, party-starters, and reflective tracks. Ezale demonstrates an easy chemistry with DJ Fresh and his cadre of production cohorts. In March, Ezale released “Day Ones,” produced by DJ Fresh protege Hawk Beatz, which The FADER called “an ode to friendship” with Ezale “in top form.” More recently, Ezale dropped the video for slinky bedroom jam “We Want Some Pussy,” which features Ezale dancing on the beach with a few lady friends: “Bitches love me cause I’m nonchalant,” raps Ezale in the song’s second verse. Other highlights from the project include the stomping, stuttering “Stop Come On” and the triumphant closer “In A Day.

Explains Ezale: “I like to sample real music with songs that have messages that move you. For the project, I got Teena Marie, Alexander O’Neal, Surface, New Edition (must be from the era when Bobby was still in the group), and Cameo, one of my favorite groups in the world. These are just a few that I’m looking at from my record collection, REAL RECORDS – the kind that you can sling out your window and shoot with a shotgun.”

Ezale’s rapid rise began three years ago with the release of the “Five Minutes of Funktown” video, in which Ezale enlists 100 of his closest friends to mob around the neighborhood and give into the funk. Inspired by Whodini‘s 1984 classic Five Minutes of Funk” and the nickname for his Oakland neighborhood, “Five Minutes of Funktown” racked up nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube, earned the rapper a feature in Buzzfeed, and his dance moves inspired a popular Instagram challenge. Ezale built upon his “Funktown”-inspired momentum with the 2014 release of Drug Funnie, highlighted by T-Pain flip Too High,” played over a million times on SoundCloud and nearly two million times on YouTube, and the 2015 release of loose video single “I Ain’t Trippin’ Off Nuthin’.” The Tonite Show with Ezale is available for purchase on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

    Ezale Background

Ezale follows in the brash, devil-may-care tradition of Mac Dre while leaving his own mark on the Bay Area rap scene. Based in Oakland, the affable independent rapper made his name during the mid-2010s with tracks like “5 Minutes of Funktown,” “Foreal Foreal,” and “I Ain’t Trippin’ Off Nothin’,” frequently refurbishing funk and old-school classics by the likes of Rick James, Run-D.M.C., and Whodini. In 2016, DJ Fresh tapped Ezale for a volume in his Tonite Show series. The Tonite Show with Ezale, issued that September, was promoted with the slinking, 2 Live Crew-referencing “We Want Some Pussy.” ~ Andy Kellman, Allmusic

    09.09.2016

    Critical Praise for Chevy Woods:

“Chevy flies high and gives the world an in depth look into his life as a Taylor Gang aviator.”XXL Mag

“The TGOD rapper hasn’t stopped grinding…” – HotNewHipHop

“He’s proven that you can make money without selling out to a label, gaining more than 300,000 followers on Twitter and 67,000 downloads of his mixtape, Gangland 3.”Pittsburgh City Paper

    The Video:

Perched above a basketball hoop and dancing with his whole crew, Taylor Gang’s Chevy Woods celebrates the weekend in the video for “History,” premiered today by REVOLT. As the video shifts from a basketball court to the club, Chevy and featured artist Devin Cruise flex with fine ladies as they shoot down their haters over arpeggiating 8-bit synths. The first single from the upcoming Taylor’d,XXL premiered the audio for “History” in July, praising the track as “the type of celebratory anthem perfect for a weekend spent with friends.” Chevy spent the summer performing on select dates of the 36-date High Road Tour, where “History” has emerged as a roof-raising crowd favorite, alongside headliners Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, as well as Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies, and DJ Drama. Earlier this week, Chevy Woods released Taylor’d single “Bank of America,” a club-ready collaboration with buzzing Atlanta rapper Rich The Kid, who previously collaborated with Chevy on April’s “Wit My Dogs.

Taylor’d will follow February’s And the Story Goes…, a 4-part video EP that finds Pittsburgh rapper reflecting on his adolescence and contemplating career paths. Featuring Styles P and  Dave East and directed by Wiley Films, the video EP released as a free download via Taylor Gang Ent. Last week, Chevy hopped on “Gang Gang,” a TGOD anthem with Casey Veggies and Wiz Khalifa. Earlier, Chevy celebrated success on his “All the Way Up” freestyle, in which he co-opted the New York anthem to lay down bars about jetsetting and living the life, and Forever,” released on his birthday. In addition to “Forever,” And the Story Goes…, and his collection of freestyles titled The Freemix, he released “6 Months Later,” a hypnotic loose single released on his SoundCloud. Arriving in stores this fall, Taylor’d will follow up last year’s The 48 Hunnid Project, where Woods teamed up with DeJ LoafPost MaloneOG Maco, and Rico Love. Beyond music, Woods has recently been in the spotlight for his culinary skills, which have been featured by Edible Ink and First We Feast.

    Chevy Woods Background:

An experienced rapper with a tireless work ethic, Chevy Woods represents for Pittsburgh with every release. First gaining notoriety as an associate of Wiz Khalifa, Chevy has gained a devoted fanbase through a decade’s worth of mixtapes and a busy touring schedule. In 2015, Chevy released The 48 Hunnid Project, his first retail release via Taylor Gang Ent. Named after the block he was raised on in the Hazelwood area of Pittsburgh, The 48 Hunnid Project is a legacy-defining EP that finds Woods taking listeners on a journey from the hard times and harsh realities that came in his early years leading into the lavish lifestyle that’s come more recently with world tours and fame. Chevy Woods followed up The 48 Hunnid Project, with a busy 2016, featuring numerous loose singles, freestyles over popular industry beats like Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up” and Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t,” and highlighted by February’s And the Story Goes…, a 4-part video EP that finds Pittsburgh rapper reflecting on his adolescence and contemplating career paths. Beyond music, Woods has recently been in the spotlight for his culinary skills, which have been featured by Edible Ink and First We Feast. Chevy Woods will make more noise this year with his upcoming full-length album, Taylor’d, which releases October 28th.

    The Announcement:

A 20-year-old polymath who raps like Ma$e and sings like Justin TimberlakeDaye Jack just might be Hip-Hop’s next major crossover star. Born in Nigeria and raised in Atlanta, Daye [pronounced Die-Yay] boasts an impressive versatility, alternating softly sung high-energy pop tracks, with ferocious electro-hop rap bangers. After demonstrating his ability with several projects over the past couple years, Daye Jack announces his most focused effort yet with Surf The Web EP, releasing September 23rd via Warner Bros. Records. Surf The Web is the Los Angeles-based artist’s second retail EP, with seven standout tracks about human lives in a digital world, including previously released tracks like the accurately titled “Raw,” played more than 348,000 times on SoundCloud, which features snapping boom-bap drums and “Death of Auto-Tune”-style guitars, and “Finish Line,” (120,000 plays on SoundCloud) a futuristic pop-rap banger about motivating yourself to realize your goals. Featuring a guest appearance from Dev09 and production from the likes of Mike Elizondo (50 Cent, Eminem), Klas Ahlund (Robyn, Katy Perry, Madonna), Stefan Graslund (Charli XCX), Kiko Merley (Allan Kingdom) and MAG (Flo Rida’s “My House), Surf the Web is a blockbuster fusion of genres and the purest manifestation of Daye’s artistic vision yet.

Daye Jack moved with his family from Nigeria to Atlanta at the age of six. In Atlanta, he split his time between playing soccer, slinging computer code, singing in choir, and listening to the likes of Eminem, OutKast, and 50 Cent. After high school, Daye earned a scholarship to NYU, majoring in Computer Science and furthering his musical development by absorbing the works of Chance The Rapper, Joey Bada$$, and Mac Miller and deriving creative inspiration from his talented classmates. In 2014, Daye released his breakthrough mixtape Hello Worldwhich caught the attention of Max Martin, who signed him to his publishing imprint, and Warner Bros. Records exec and producer Mike Elizondo, who signed him to a record deal. Since releasing his Soul Glitch EP in 2015, Daye has earned praise from outlets such as Billboard, Pitchfork and Pigeons & Planes, collaborated with the likes of Killer MikeAriana Grande, and Tori Kelly, and toured packed venues with Lukas Graham and Pell. Surf The Web is the latest step on Daye Jack’s evolutionary ladder.

Today, Zane Lowe premiered the hater-demolishing “Deep End,” the closing track from Surf The Web, on his radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1. Alternating percussive rhymes with delicate falsetto, “Deep End” is an ideal expression of the young artist’s breadth of talent. “There’s a reason the EP concludes on ‘Deep End,’” explains Daye Jack. “The song is about going down that rabbit hole of the internet. You click on one headline, and then you click on another. You watch one YouTube video, and then you watch more. By the time a few hours have passed, you realize how messed up the world can be.” Listeners might experience a similar feeling when diving into Surf The Web, absorbing its vast sonic detail over repeated listens.

MP3: Chevy Woods – “Bank Of America”

    The Song:

A three day weekend is always nice and is even nicer when Taylor Gang’s Chevy Woods drops new material. Lucky for all of us, he chose this Labor Day to drop “Bank of America,” a single from his debut full-length album. Chevy is joined by New York’s Rich The Kid, and the two trade verses boasting about their considerable wealth over the rumbling beat of deep bass and skittering hi-hat. The forthcoming album is a standout effort built upon years of grinding in the mixtape game and is his first retail release since last year’s The 48 Hunnid Project, a mixtape that showcases some of Chevy’s many talents, evenly stacking party bangers, songs for the smokers, and more personal introspective tracks.

The forthcoming album follows February’s And the Story Goes…, a 4-part video EP that finds Pittsburgh rapper reflecting on his adolescence and contemplating career paths. Featuring Styles P and  Dave Eastand directed by Wiley Films, the video EP released as a free download via Taylor Gang Ent. Last week, Chevy hopped on “Gang Gang,” a TGOD anthem with Casey Veggies and Wiz Khalifa. In addition to “Forever,” And the Story Goes…, and his collection of freestyles titled The Freemix, he teamed up with buzzing Atlanta rapper Rich the Kid for “Wit My Dogs,” a Nard & B.-produced anthem for celebrating with the homies, and “6 Months Later,” a hypnotic loose single released on his SoundCloud.  Beyond music, Woods has recently been in the spotlight for his culinary skills, which have been featured by Edible Ink and First We Feast.

Though Chicago’s J.R. Donato is only 22-years old, his versatility of flows, facility with hooks, and clever punchline lyricism is indicative of his decade of experience in the rap game. In “All That I Need,” Donato’s latest video single, premiered by Fake Shore Drive, the North-sider rides a percussive flow for an epic minute-long verse, boasting about his rhyming ability, his lavish lifestyle, and his prodigious drug habit over towering trap synthesizers and skittering snares: “All these blue hunnids, all these blue hunnids/I be in New York like a Buffalo Bill/Really like Eli, and I be tree high/in these Adidas, n*ggas can’t see I.” Filmed at Chicago’s Fat Tiger Workshop and directed by @aWMfilm, the color-rich video finds Donato mixing his lean with Mountain Dew and mobbing with his posse outside the store. “All That I Need” is the Taylor Gang emcee’s second video of 2016, following the HipHopDX-debuted “Not For None, which dropped in May and featured the rapper dancing around Inception-horns and spiraling sine waves, finding colorful new ways to boast about his lifestyle. Donato also contributed a standout verse to Wiz Khalifa‘s “Make a Play,” featured on the Billboard Top 10 peaking Khalifa album. Carefully planning his next move, J.R. Donato is honing his flow and perfecting his craft for his next breakthrough project.

Last September, J.R. Donato released his Fast Money & Freedom project, which carried a hazy, hypnotic soundscape produced in-full by Sledgren. Donato built up to the release with a series of singles, including “I Suppose,” “Life So Sweet,” and the GoodMusicAllDay-premiered “Mad At Me.” Born and raised on Chicago’s North Side, J.R. Donato started rapping in his early teens, earning a local hit at age 13 under the name Young JR. During his junior year of high school, Donato supported Twista on a regional tour and eventually caught the ear of Wiz Khalifa, who featured J.R. on his Cabin Fever 2 mixtape and later signed him to Taylor Gang Entertainment. “I sound like myself. These days that’s not easy,” J.R. Donato explained in an interview with AllHipHop.

🐬🐬”If” Young Dolph Isn’t The Freshest Then Who Is?🐬🐬

    Video: Young Dolph – “If”

Young Dolph Shines in Black And White In Video For “If”

    09.06.2016

    Critical Praise:

“Young Dolph has cultivated that formula that makes the bando jump”XXL

“What makes Dolph exemplary is his affinity for memorable hooks and catchy call-and-response punch lines” – Complex

King of Memphis is worth myriad repeat listens: Dolph bridges the gap between his hometown and the Atlanta production that dominates rap’s mainstream.”SPIN

    Top 10 Hip-Hop Cash Prince of 2016 – Forbes

    The Video:

There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, Young Dolph is one of rap’s hardest flexers and he continues to prove that in the video for “If.” Filmed in black and white, the video for the stand-out track from Rich Crack Baby finds Dolph in the spotlight, flashing his jewelry, cars, and clothes. Over a hazy bass-rattling beat, Dolph does what he does best and drops boastful verses, showing off his place at the top of the game while demonstrating how he got there.  “If” is the third video from Rich Crack Baby, following up “Trappa” and the title track, “Rich Crack Baby.” With a features list that includes T.I., Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz and tracks produced by Zaytoven, Drumma Boy, and Honorable C-Note Rich Crack Baby shows that the artists in hip-hop have recognized Dolph’s tremendous talent. His recent nomination for the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ “People’s Champ” Award makes it clear that the rest of rap world can’t deny it anymore either.

Dolph is continuing his busy 2016, with the release of Bo$$e$ and $hooter$ in May and King of Memphis in February. Noisey described the project as “a solid debut album from one of the most quietly popular artists in the South right now.” In addition to dropping three full length projects, the Memphis kingpin also consistently releases high-quality visuals, including the hilarious “Get Paid,” the sensual “On My Way,” co-starring Deelishis, and the absurd “Royalty,” which features cameo appearances from a capuchin monkey, a giraffe, and even a white tiger. In January, Forbes named Young Dolph one of The Hip-Hop Cash Princes of 2016, placing him alongside Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, and Metro Boomin, among others. With his star guest turn on “Cut It the hit by OT Genasis, Dolph made a foray onto the Billboard charts, peaking at number 35 on the Hot 100.

Nef The Pharaoh Revisits His Roots in His Very Bay Area-y Fresh Outta Space 3

Mixtape: Nef The Pharaoh – Fresh Outta Space 3

After Months on the Road With G-Eazy and A$AP Ferg, the Vallejo Rapper Returns Home for His Most Bay Area Project Yet

    09.01.2016

    Critical Praise:

“Neffy Got Wings is the album of the week” – Stereogum

“…the best rapper from Vallejo since the last great rapper from Vallejo” – Jeff Weiss

“…as a rapper, [Nef the Pharaoh] lets the energy lead and the bars follow, boasting and flexing with the kinds of memorable banalities that make up some of hip-hop’s best yet least-celebrated moments.” – Pitchfork

“Nef The Pharaoh is the Bay Area’s next up.” – HotNewHipHop

“Nef the Pharaoh runs neck-and-neck with Kodak Black as the most promising up-and-coming rapper who can’t yet rent a car.”SPIN

    The Mixtape:
Nef The Pharaoh released the first two volumes of his Fresh Outta Space mixtape series when he was only 16, but even at that young age, he demonstrated the laconic wit and eccentric personality that makes him one of the most promising rappers in the game today. Now signed to E-40‘s Sick Wid It Records at age 21, and with the breakthrough hit “Big Tymin’ under his belt, Nef graces the Internet with Fresh Outta Space 3, a celebration of Nef’s newfound success, his happy family life, and the talent renaissance the Bay Area is experiencing. After months of being on the road for G-Eazy’s When It’s Dark Out tour, the new tape is a homecoming for the Vallejo rapper and a chance for new fans to gain a deeper understanding of where Nef comes from. Featuring appearances from Snoop DoggYMTK, Corn Sosa and JG and production from Cardo Got Wings, P-Lo, Arkitekz, Jay Nari of League of Stars and more, Fresh Outta Space 3 is the next step on Nef’s journey to greatness.

“I was going to name this project Songs That Didn’t Make the Album” explains Nef The Pharaoh, “but then I wanted to point people back to my earlier projects in case they hadn’t heard of them. That’s why I made it the third installment of my Fresh Outta Space series. This project is super Bay Area. I’m fresh from being on the road for so long, I’m finally back home, back in the Bay, and I’m feeling saturated. It’s got a good mix of old school Bay Area and current Bay Area sounds. This project reflects that I’ve become more wise in my surroundings, I’ve become more alert to life, I appreciate things more. Every day I wake up happy I’m here. This mixtape is me giving myself to the world and doing what I’m supposed to do. And giving you a fun soundtrack for your life.”

Fresh Outta Space 3 is as sonically diverse and funky as the Bay Area itself. “Everything Big,” the project’s P-Lo-produced and FADER-premiered first single and a spiritual successor to “Big Tymin’,” is a valedictory track about Nef’s ability to provide for himself and his family and live a life of luxury at the same time. The Architekz-produced “Do Ya Thang” is an inspirational track inspired by 2Pac’s “Keep Ya Head Up,” while the Snoop Dogg-featuring “Smoke Suffa” is the ultimate song for the heads and “ATM” is a strip club anthem. Featuring a spoken-word introduction from Sway of Shade 45‘s Sway in the Morning and an emotional closing track dedicated to Nef’s infant son, Fresh Outta Space 3 suits all moods.

Nef The Pharaoh delivered his debut retail release, a self-titled EP, in November 2015 to high critical praise and commercial success for its single “Big Tymin’.” Nef followed his breakthrough project by joining producer Cardo for Neffy Got Wings, a collaborative EP which released in January. In the ensuing months, Nef kept a high profile as a featured artist, appearing with D.R.A.M. on E-40’s Slappin’ which has nearly 600,000 views on YouTube, interpolating Shaggy’s immortal “It Wasn’t Me”on H.B.I.C.” from Bay Area producer Juneonnabeat‘s solo album, joining fellow rising star Rexx Life Rajfor Moxie Java,” and teaming with Casey Veggies for the DJ Mustard-produced Stupidly Crazy,” stealing the spotlight from Future on the highlight from DJ Esco‘s E.T.: The Esco-TerrestrialWith Fresh Outta Space 3, Nef cements a successful 2016 and paves the way for his debut official release, coming soon.

Atlanta’s Ralo Teams Up With Young Scooter To Celebrate Surviving The Streets

  • Press Release

Atlanta’s Ralo Teams Up With Young Scooter To Celebrate Surviving The Streets

Video: Ralo – “Survivor” Ft. Young Scooter

Ralo and Young Scooter Drop Solemn Video For “Survivor”

    08.31.2016

    The Video:

Surviving the streets is no small accomplishment and Atlanta’s Ralo knows that as well as any rapper. Today, joined by fellow Atlantan and frequent collaborator Young Scooter, Ralo released the video for “Survivor,” a solemn track that celebrates that both of them made it off the streets intact and pays homage to those that didn’t. While the beat would fit right in on any trap track celebrating a life of a crime, both Young Scooter, who supplies the hook, and Ralo go the introspective route, giving us personal lyrics about the struggles they went through and how they made it out, even though the odds were stacked against them. The video, which came out on WorldStar Hip-Hop, follows them through Atlanta traps, stash spots, and a jail as they reminisce over the near misses.

“Survivor” is a standout track from Diary of the Streets II, a full length project Ralo released yesterday. The project, a sequel to the popular Diary of The Streets I, delivers on what we have come to expect from Ralo, trap bangers with a strong melodic element and personal and introspective lyrics. He also released a preview of the music video for “Wish Me the Best,” from Diary of Streets II, that features fellow Atlantan YFN Lucci and cameos from Future and Birdman, who hosts the project.  Also featuring guest appearances from Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and Shy Glizzy, and with production fromSouthside, DJ Plugg, and Wheezy, Diary of the Streets II is a fitting monument to Ralo’s stature on the streets.

The project is the culmination of a busy summer for Ralo. Last week he released a video for “Letter To Birdman,” a tribute to one of his mentors and role models which premiered on XXL. This came a week after Noisey premiered Ralo’s Future-featuring, Southside-produced banger “My Brothers,” alongside a Q&A. Noisey also premiered the Shy Glizzy-featuring “Dear Your Honor,” Ralo’s heartfelt plea for a fairer criminal justice system. Earlier, Ralo recruited three of America’s hottest rappers for the Complex-premiered DOTS II single Flexing on Purpose,a monstrous, lurching turn-up banger featuring Lil Uzi VertYoung Thug, and 21 Savage. Though that level of star power would dwarf a lesser artist, Ralo rises to the occasion, shining with his trademark charisma. Diary of the Streets II is a unique approach to the Atlanta sound, elevated by Ralo’s depth of feeling and force of personality. “I’m not just rapping for exposure,” explains Ralo. “I want to bring people together. I want to have a good influence on the community; I want people to stop fighting each other.”

    Ralo Background

Ralo’s’ music is a combination of ingenuity and power. He has worked with signed acts such as Future, Shawty Lo, Young Thug, and Young Scooter. This experience has given Ralo the opportunity to prove to his fans that he has what it takes to surpass some of the more popular mainstream and independent artists out today. Atlanta’s Ralo Releases Diary of the Streets II, Hosted by Birdman

Album: Ralo – Diary of the Streets II

Ralo Drops Project About Coming From The Streets, Releases Preview For “Wish Me The Best” Video

    08.30.2016

    The Project:

Few rappers can claim that they have as much street-cred as Atlanta’s Ralo. He started hustling at the age of 13, selling CDs and DVDs, and he hasn’t looked back, eventually becoming a fixture of the Atlanta streets. Always interested in music, Ralo wrote and rapped even when he was hustling. Once he turned his focus onto music however, his career took off quickly. Working with some of the biggest artists in Atlanta, including Future, Young Thug, and Young Scooter, Ralo quickly became a fixture in the Southeast’s rap scene. Premiered last night by FADERDiary of the Streets II, the sequel to last year’s popular Diary of the Streets, is the next step in Ralo’s ascension to stardom. The project, now available for purchase, delivers on what we have come to expect from Ralo, trap bangers with a strong melodic element and personal and introspective lyrics. Featuring guest appearances from Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Shy Glizzy and Birdman, who hosts the project, and with production fromSouthside, DJ Plugg, and Wheezy, Diary of the Streets II is a monument to Ralo’s stature on the streets.

Ralo brings the always-be-working, never-be-resting mindset of hustling to music, so it should come as no surprise that he wasn’t content with just dropping a project. He also released a preview of the music video for “Wish Me the Best,” from Diary of Streets II, that features fellow Atlantan YFN Lucci and cameos from Future and Birdman. Featuring black and white footage of Ralo performing, recording, and whipping a foreign the two trappers trade verses celebrating their success against the odds, tantalizingly teasing what’s to come.

This release is the culmination of a busy summer for Ralo.

🐬🐬You Can’t Deny How Hard Young Dolph Stunts In “Trappa”🐬🐬

    Video: Young Dolph – “Trappa”

Taking Over Magic City, Young Dolph Fulfills His Ambitionz Az a “Trappa”

    08.29.2016

    Critical Praise:

“Young Dolph has cultivated that formula that makes the bando jump”XXL

“What makes Dolph exemplary is his affinity for memorable hooks and catchy call-and-response punch lines” – Complex

King of Memphis is worth myriad repeat listens: Dolph bridges the gap between his hometown and the Atlanta production that dominates rap’s mainstream.”SPIN

    Top 10 Hip-Hop Cash Prince of 2016 – Forbes

    The Video:

He can’t deny it and neither should you: Young Dolph is a genuine star of both hip-hop and the trap. In a rare showcase of his melodic talent, Dolph lifts the hook from Tupac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” and traps it out in the aptly-named “Trappa.” Taking over Magic City and throwing stacks around, Dolph is stunting as hard as ever, he and his squad surrounded by women in various states of undress. With tight bursts of snare and high-hat over a wall of bass and a deceptively catchy piano melody, the beat is a perfect fit for Dolph’s brand of witty and evocative trap rhymes and he does not disappoint, riding the beat perfectly.  “Trappa” is a stand-out track from Dolph’s mixtape Rich Crack Baby, which came out last Friday. With a features list that includes T.I., Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz, tracks produced by Zaytoven, Drumma Boy, and Honorable C-Note, and having just received a nomination for the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ “People’s Champ” Award it is clear that the rest of rap world can’t deny it anymore either.

With his vast catalogue of work and unmistakable persona, it’s officially the summer of Dolph – catch him on his national Royalty Tour, which will have The Loft inAtlanta going up this Tuesday.

“Caleb has proven himself to a MC in the purest form, eschewing the flashy brag raps for a centered focus on precise wordplay and introspective storytelling paired with some of the best production that the Bay can offer.”EARMILK

…one of the most promising spitters coming out right now” – XXL

“Caleb comes across like someone who’s honest with himself and everyone around him” – Uproxx

[Caleborate] displays the poise and wisdom of a rap veteran” – HipHopDX

    The Album:

Blessed with an affinity for wordplay and a compelling sing-song cadence, Caleborate is one of the most promising young rappers to hit the Bay Area scene today. The 23 year-old rapper is sharing his 1993 album, which debuted via Complex and features appearances by Sylvan LaCue and Pell, as well as production from P-LoMikos Da Gawd, HBK’s Kuya Beats, Cal-A, and Julia Lewis. Following up his acclaimed 2015 release Hella Good1993 combines nostalgia for the 23-year-old rapper’s childhood with reflections on modern life, exploring Caleborate’s unique generational point-of-view through varied production and complex lyrical themes.

“1993 is my birth year and I personally think that the stretch between ’90 and ’95 was a pretty special time to be born in because we got to experience life pre-cell phone, but we came of age when technology became an inseparable part of everyone’s everyday lives. I remember finding music using Kazaa and burning CD’s. I remember using MapQuest before GoogleMaps. I had a house phone. But I’m also a digital native,” Caleborate explained to Complex. “The music on 1993 is reflective of the kind of music and the TV shows I watched growing up. I distinctly remember the blending of the two worlds–I was watching Family Matters on TV, but also Buzzfeed videos on my phone. The music on this project has sample-based stuff that sounds like Kanye’s but there’s also more beat-driven stuff that sounds like it could be played alongside Kaytranada. The lyrical content is reflective of where I am in my life as a young adult. I’m talking about stuff that other 22- and 23-year-old people are going through.”

Caleborate has been consistently treating his fans this summer leading up to the release of 1993, sharing the VIBE-premiered single “Options,” a soulful summer jam which was added to Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist. He followed the single with a video for “‘08 Carter Flow,” premiered by REVOLT, as well as the hard-hitting loosie Made Me,” which debuted on The FADER. Born and raised in Sacramento, Caleborate built his considerable fanbase online, eventually growing big enough to earn a mention on the 2014 edition of The Thizzler‘s Bay Area Freshman 10, which has featured luminaries such as Nef The PharaohIAMSU!, and Sage The Gemini. In 2015, Caleborate collaborated with G-Eazy for Want It All and released his album Hella Good, which received critical praise from Pigeons & Planes, The Source, and SF Weekly, which named it the Best Hip-Hop Album of the Bay Area for 2015. With this momentum, Caleborate is just getting started. 1993 is available for stream and download now.

    Caleborate Background:

A Berkeley bred student of hip-hop and all around eclectic artist, Caleborate has been renowned as one of the games most promising emcee’s. With lyrics that represent the unique struggles of the average 20-something, and stanza’s about the day to day grind as a collegiate youth, he covers topics far and wide and is anything but shallow. After being awarded the “Best Hip Hop Album of The Bay Area” in 2015 by SF Weekly, Caleborate is poised to sit cross-legged atop the hip-hop genre someday.

    The Video:

Ghost riding his Dodge Charger in San Francisco’s AT&T Park’s parking lot in view of the San Francisco Bay, Fillmore emcee Show Banga delivers a fun visual premiered today by Hip-HopDX for “Steez 101,” an energetic jam perfect for late-summer. Rhyming near the park’s famous Willie Mays Gate,  Show Banga spits relaxed witticisms over an echoing, X-Files whistle synth, snapping snares, and modular bass: “No coffee but a star with the damn bucks.” The latest single from Show Banga’s third studio album Show Time 2, released earlier this month via EMPIRE, “Steez” follows the XXL premiere of the video for $howtime, the album’s opening track, a motivational hustler’s anthem and the mission statement for the record, and the Mass Appeal premiere of “Can’t Stand Me,” featuring Kool John.

Show Banga learned all his game from his father, Show Time, a business man and well-respected hustler who played a vital role in supporting local Bay Area street rap throughout the ‘90s and ‘00s. Coming from San Francisco’s storied Fillmore District, Show Banga is a unique talent, mixing elements of the Mob Music of his hometown, the ratchet beats popular across the Bay, and Southern influences prevalent in East Oakland street rap into a signature blend of turn-up. Featuring guest spots from Sage The Gemini, Lil Yee and Kool John, along with four features from IAMSU! and production from IAMSU!, JuneonnabeatNikeyboyYoung Page and others, Show Time 2 proves Show Banga is one of the Bay’s premier young artists and that he has the charisma to break out of the Bay onto the national scene. Show Time 2, a true Bay Area affair, is currently available for purchase.

    Show Banga Background:

Show Banga received his moniker from his father, nicknamed ShowTime, a hustler who opened up several independent music stores in the Bay Area and started Hunid Racks, a successful energy drink company that peaked in popularity during the Hyphy era in the Bay. Show Banga follows in his father’s footsteps, dedicating his life to getting money in any way possible. After getting kicked out of his mother’s house when she found a gun in his bedroom, Show Banga went to live with his father in Vallejo. In Vallejo, he attended Pinole Valley High School where he met many of the original members of HBK, eventually forming the Go Gettaz with IAMSU! and P-Lo, which gained a sizable local following before disbanding in 2011. Since then, Show Banga has earned success as a solo artist while still frequently collaborating with HBK artists such as IAMSU!, Kool John, and Sage The Gemini. Last year, the Fillmore rapper released his EMPIRE debut Mayor 4 Life, which DJ Booth called a “bridge between the Bay Area’s more gritty, street sound and it’s more polished, mainstream hip-hop.” Show Banga’s next album, Show Time 2, officially releases on August 12th and is currently available for pre-order.

Dolph is riding out a busy 2016, with the release of Bo$$e$ and $hooter$ in May and King of Memphisin February. Noisey described the project as “a solid debut album from one of the most quietly popular artists in the South right now.” The Memphis kingpin also released a steady stream of high-quality visuals, including the hilarious “Get Paid,” the sensual “On My Way,” co-starring Deelishis, and the absurd “Royalty,” which features cameo appearances from a capuchin monkey, a giraffe, and even a white tiger. In January, Forbes named Young Dolph one of The Hip-Hop Cash Princes of 2016, placing him alongside Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, and Metro Boomin, among others. Dolph also made a foray onto the Billboard charts with a star guest turn on “Cut It the hit by OT Genasis, which peaked at number 35 on the Hot 100. With his vast catalogue of work and unmistakable persona, it’s officially the summer of Dolph – catch him on his national Royalty Tour, which stops at SOB’s in New York City TONIGHT. Rich Crack Baby is available for purchase on iTunes now.

    Top 10 Hip-Hop Cash Prince of 2016 – Forbes

    The Announcement:

Young Dolph never stops. Even though he is in the midst of his nationwide Royalty Tour, this Friday he will be dropping Rich Crack Baby, a brand new mixtape. Dolph is fresh off of releasing a string ludicrously lavish music videos, including the palatial Royalty, the decadent Both Ways, and one for the triumphant title track Rich Crack Baby, which have cemented him as one of the biggest young rappers coming out of the South right now. With features from T.I., Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Boosie Bad Azz, Wale, and 21 Savage and tracks produced by Zaytoven, Drumma BoyC-Note, Izzetheproducer, and DJ Squeeky this tape clearly shows that the rest of the rap world has recognized Young Dolph and realized they need to get on board, or get out of the way.

This has been a big year for Dolph, with the release of Bo$$e$ and $hooter$ in May and King of Memphis in February. Noisey described the project as “a solid debut album from one of the most quietly popular artists in the South right now.” Forbes named Young Dolph one of The Hip-Hop Cash Princes of 2016, placing him alongside Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, and Metro Boomin, among others. Complex also dubbed him one of 15 Unsigned Rappers Who Should Get A Deal After SXSW. “What makes Dolph exemplary is his affinity for memorable hooks and catchy call-and-response punch lines,” Complex raved. “This is Young Thug without the odd quirk.” With his vast catalogue of work and unmistakable persona, it’s officially the summer of Dolph – catch him on his national Royalty Tour, which stops at SOB’s in New York City this Friday.
