“Daye Jack is …extremely talented at a young age and swirling together the styles that previously had been so carefully separated, all with a big grin. Whether he’s rapping or doling out sweet melodies, it’s all working”Huffington Post
The Video:

Daye Jack is many things. Born in Nigeria, raised in Atlanta, and living in Los Angeles, the former Computer Science major makes music that mixes rap, electro, and pop into a unique blend, forging the sound of Hip-Hop’s future. Daye demonstrates his versatile talent in the video for “Deep End,” premiered today by Billboard. Pool party poppin around him, Daye spits his verses percussively, flexing his skills as an MC over the MAG produced beat, before dropping into a delicate falsetto for the chorus, showing off the pop sensibility that inspired esteemed songwriter Max Martin to take Daye under his tutelage. Originally premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio and featured on the most recent episode of Empire, “Deep End” is a standout track from Daye’s second retail EP Surf The Web.

The EP features seven tracks about living a human life in a digital world, including previously-released highlights “Deep End,” the accurately titled “Raw,” played more than 363,000 times on SoundCloud, which features snapping boom-bap drums and “Death of Auto-Tune”-style guitars, and the bassy electro pop-rap banger “Finish Line,” (122,000 plays on SoundCloud). Featuring a guest appearance from Dev09 and production from the likes of Mike Elizondo (50 Cent, Eminem), Klas Ahlund (Robyn, Katy Perry, Madonna), Stefan Graslund (Charli XCX), Kiko Merley (Allan Kingdom) and MAG (Flo Rida’s “My House), Surf the Web is an endlessly replayable, detail-rich effort from one of music’s bright young talents.

Born in Nigeria, Daye Jack moved with his family to Atlanta at the age of six, splitting his time between soccer, computer programming, listening to Outkast, 50 Cent, and Eminem, and singing in choir. After high school, Daye earned a scholarship to NYU, majoring in Computer Science and furthering his musical development by absorbing the works of artists like Chance The Rapper, and deriving creative and collaborative inspiration from his talented classmates. In 2014, Daye released his breakthrough mixtape Hello Worldwhich caught the attention of Max Martin, who signed him to his publishing imprint, and Warner Bros. Records exec and producer Mike Elizondo, who signed him to a record deal.Since releasing his Soul Glitch EP in 2015, Daye has earned praise from outlets such as Billboard, Pitchfork and Pigeons & Planes, collaborated with the likes of Killer MikeAriana Grande, and Tori Kelly, and toured packed venues with Lukas Graham and Pell. Surf The Web, the latest step on Daye Jack’s evolutionary ladder, is available for purchase on iTunes and stream on Spotify and Apple Music.

Show Banga and IAMSU! Shake Their Dreads in Fun New Visual

Video: Show Banga ft. IAMSU! – “How We Rock”

The Two High School Classmates and Frequent Collaborators Rock a Bay Area Concert Hall in the XXL-Premiered ShowTime 2 Visual

    10.20.2016

    The Video:

A leader in the new wave of Bay Area talent, San Francisco’s Show Banga is a charismatic personality and an expert party-starter. The most popular track on Show Banga’s ShowTime 2 with 872,000 SoundCloud plays, How We Rock is an IASMU!-featuring function banger and an infectious lifestyle boast. Channeling the manic energy of their fans at a Bay Area concert, Banga and Su dance around the East Bay in the new visual for the track, shaking their dreads and going dumb in an abandoned industrial park. Premiered today by XXL, “How We Rock” is the fourth high quality visual from ShowTime 2, following the recent East Bay Express premiere of “Bonafide Hustla,” the wild,HipHopDX-premiered visual for “Steez 101,” and the motivational “$howtime,” which earned a premiere from XXL.

Explains Show Banga: “This record is an anthem not just for me & Su but for everybody that has a clique they rep hard for. On this record, we wanted to make something that would go off in the clubs and would make u wanna play it on repeat over & over. I think we did it. The video was filmed at IAMSUMMER back in my hometown San Francisco. Playing a hometown show was crazy – we were 3 blocks from my neighborhood and it was dope seeing my name on bright lights outside The Warfield. I don’t know too many artists who get to do that, and the show was sold out. I really wanted to get that Bay, fun, hyphy vibe for the video. Something that everybody from all ages could enjoy.”

A fixture on the Bay Area scene with deep relationships with members of the HBK Crew, Show Banga learned many of his hustling bonafides from his father Show Time. A respected entrepreneur who played a vital role in supporting local Bay Area street rap throughout the ‘90s and ‘00s, Show Time was a major role model for Banga and the inspiration for his latest album. Featuring guest spots from Sage The GeminiKool John, and Lil Yee, along with four features from IAMSU!, and production from IAMSU!,  Juneonnabeat, NikeyboyYoung Page and others, Show Time 2 proves Show Banga has the charisma and talent to break out of the Bay and burst onto the national scene. Show Time 2, a true Bay Area affair, is currently available for purchase.

    Show Banga Background:

Show Banga received his moniker from his father, nicknamed ShowTime, a hustler who opened up several independent music stores in the Bay Area and started Hunid Racks, a successful energy drink company that peaked in popularity during the Hyphy era in the Bay. Show Banga follows in his father’s footsteps, dedicating his life to getting money in any way possible. After getting kicked out of his mother’s house when she found a gun in his bedroom, Show Banga went to live with his father in Vallejo. In Vallejo, he attended Pinole Valley High School where he met many of the original members of HBK, eventually forming the Go Gettaz with IAMSU! and P-Lo, which gained a sizable local following before disbanding in 2011. Since then, Show Banga has earned success as a solo artist while still frequently collaborating with HBK artists such as IAMSU!, Kool John, and Sage The Gemini. Last year, the Fillmore rapper released his EMPIRE debut Mayor 4 Life, which DJ Booth called a “bridge between the Bay Area’s more gritty, street sound and it’s more polished, mainstream hip-hop.” Show Banga’s next album, Show Time 2, officially releases on August 12th and is currently available for pre-order.

“A veteran in the Bay Area rap scene, Philthy Rich built a reputation as the Bay Area’s Gucci Mane because of his drug-fueled, yet down-to-earth, rhymes, his prolific output, and his relationships with the best street rappers and producers.”HipHopDX

“The Oakland native has been working hard lately and been dropping some fire music.”XXL

    The Announcement:

A notoriously hard worker from East Oakland’s Seminary neighborhood, who came to prominence around the same time as trap music did, it’s clear to anyone familiar with Philthy Rich that he hasMoney In The Trap. His latest single off the upcoming Hood Rich 4, premiered today by Mass Appeal, is an affirmation of that fact. Philthy employs his trademark laid back delivery to let us know just how he earned his wealth and what he has spent it on over the Zaytoven produced trap banger.  Always networking, Philthy is joined by some of the realest rappers from across the country: Los Angeles’ Casey Veggies, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh, and D.C.’s Fat Trel.

With trap gaining mainstream popularity, the trap originators have opened up the meaning of the word to be more inclusive. “This is motivation music for anyone doing their 9-5, legitimately trapping, or anyone making money. Trapping has transcended its original definition of selling drugs to meaning making money anyhow, anywhere, period. You could be working at McDonalds, trapping. You could be throwing newspapers at people’s doorsteps at 6 in the morning, trapping. You could be a nurse. At the end of the day, you’re making money too,” Philthy explained.  “Money In The Trap” follows up the video for  “Fuck I Look Like” ft. Kash Doll,  which premiered on The FADER earlier this week. Hood Rich 4 also features appearances by  Soulja Boy, Jim Jones, Birdman, B.o.B, G. Herbo, Shy Glizzy, Young Dolph, Sauce Walka, and Sosamann.

This album is the culmination of a busy year for Philthy.  In July, XXL premiered, “59 To 79” a piano-laden trap banger featuring G Herbo. “59 to 79” followed the Zaytoven-produced cut “Numbers” and the remix to “Broke Boy,” which features a long guest list of buzzing artists. Earlier, Complex premiered “Barely Know My Name” which features Lil B, Mistah F.A.B., Mozzy and Celly Ru. In the lead up to January’s Real N*ggas Back in $tyle, the first in a series of three albums with the same title, Philthy Rich shared a series of singles starting withthe IAMSU-assisted money-making anthem “Make A Living,” which gained more than one million Soundcloud streams. Philthy Rich’s latest solo project, SemCity MoneyMan 4, available for streaming on Soundcloud and for purchase on iTunes.

  • Press Release

Memphis’ Jon Waltz Returns with “Riot,” Premiered by Zane Lowe and the FADER

    Song: Jon Waltz – “Riot”

After Seven Months of Musical Silence, The Memphis Artist Returns With a “Gutsy Song About Growing Up”

    10.19.2016

    Critical Praise for Jon Waltz

“At 19 years old, Jon Waltz puts the typical college sophomore/aspiring rapper to shame” – Pigeons & Planes

“(Jon Waltz) is pushing culture and social issues in a way that young people can relate to”Sway’s Universe

“Waltz has drawn comparisons to Drake for his ability to craft hooks and seamlessly weave between rapping and singing, as well as his introspection, but with the world his tight lyricism paints and his recurring character Alyss (Waltz’s Sherane), comparisons to Kendrick Lamar should also be fair game.” – Complex

    The Song:

Singer/rapper Jon Waltz is an artist who exists outside of the hype cycle, avoiding the industry pressure to release as much music as possible, only dropping new music when it meets his high standards. Blessed with equally impressive ability as a singer and a rapper, Jon Waltz’ distinctive style won him a legion of devoted fans all over the country. Premiered today by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show and the FADER, Waltz returns with “Riot,” his first new release in seven months. An inventive track with a unique song structure, “Riot” features a brilliant chorus, several infectious bridges, and poignant lyrics. As Jon describes, “It’s about who I was five years go versus who I am today. The main message is in the hook, where I say, ‘Hope someone sees and puts me out / instead they start a riot,’ describes how people can act out because they want help and don’t know how to ask for it. It’s misinterpreted as a call for more people to act out instead of lend a helping hand.” Produced with impressive warmth by Eric Lynch, Jack Dine, and RNDYSVGE, their soft keys, thumping drums, loping bass, and organ flourishes provide a compelling backdrop for 21-year-old artist’s homespun and relatable storytelling. “Riot” is Jon Waltz’ second single of 2016 following February’s “Justified,” which racked up 1.23 million plays on SoundCloud.

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Jon Waltz first demonstrated his talent in 2014, when he released Alyss, his debut EP. Documenting a 19-year-old mind fighting back against depression and disloyalty, Alyss received critical acclaim from publications such as Pigeons & Planes and Complex, who compared the artist to both Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and prompted LA Weekly’s Jeff Weiss to claim that “if [Jon] keeps it up, he could be one of the few artists that actually figure it all out.” With these accolades and cosigns from Jaden Smith and Lyor Cohen under his belt, “Riot” marks the first step towards Waltz’ next career move: his first full-length, due Spring of 2017.

    Jon Waltz Background:

Stoic faces, downers, and the digital glow of phone addicts encircled Memphis artist Jon Waltz as a teen, his city’s violent undertow threatening to drag him under. Armed with nothing but USB bedroom mics and a storyteller’s pen, he holed up to stay afloat, soon revealing his gifts for the first time with 2014’s Alyss. His debut EP documented a then-19-year-old mind fighting back against depression and disloyalty. Acclaimed by coveted publications (HotNewHipHop, Complex, RESPECT, Pigeons & Planes), unfiltered, and just 25 minutes long, Alyss signaled the arrival of a multidimensional perspective sorely missed both within and beyond Tennessee’s borders. It didn’t take long for industry titans to notice what was brewing down south; public cosigns from the likes of Lyor Cohen and Jaden Smith soon followed. Collective buzz had Jon positioned to blow. “Riot” is poised to push Jon past the tipping point. Politically charged and infused with old school soul, Jon’s finest work to date kicks open the doors to his first-ever full-length, White Fun, the result of two years of laborious tinkering. Jon’s sound mirrors deep-rooted conflict. He spins a story scored by the bluegrass of yesterday one moment and industrial futurism the next, moving through time to discover the ups and downs of life for kids who don’t fit in.

Ralo Reflects on His Struggles, Takes “Showers in the Dark”

Ralo Reflects on His Struggles, Takes “Showers in the Dark”

Song: Ralo – “Showers in the Dark”

The Atlanta Emcee and #Famerican Head Honcho Shines a Spotlight on a Highlight from Diary of the Streets II

    10.14.2016

    The Song:

Equal parts aggressive and reflective, helium-voiced emcee Ralo brings us a cerebral yet energetic brand of Atlanta street music. Revisiting a standout track from August’s Diary of the Streets II, Ralo releases “Shadows in the Dark,” a confessional rumination with melodic flow and dramatic trap production. Though Ralo spent many of his formative years in and out of prison, he worked hard to get his life together. “Showers in the Dark” is an affecting portrayal of Ralo’s daily struggle to stay out of the sway of the streets. “When they do that dirty shit to you,” Ralo says on the song’s intro, “You go in the shower and wash that shit out.”

In August 2016, Ralo released the Birdman-hosted Diary of the Streets II, an accomplished album stocked with trap bangers with a strong melodic element and personal and introspective lyrics. A well-respected figure in Atlanta’s streets, Ralo recruited several high profile guest rappers for popular summer singles, including the Future-featuring, Southside-produced banger “My Brothers,” which Noiseypremiered alongside a Q&A, “Survivor,” a solemn video single featuring Young Scooter, the heartfelt Shy Glizzy-featuring “Dear Your Honor,” and the Complex-premiered  Flexing on Purpose,a monstrous, lurching turn-up banger featuring Lil Uzi VertYoung Thug, and 21 Savage. Though that level of star power would dwarf a lesser artist, Ralo rises to the occasion, shining with his trademark charisma. The founder of a gang turned community organization and movement called “Famerican,” Ralo’s main goal is to make the rap game more positive and civil. “I want to have a good influence on the community and raise some awareness,” explains Ralo. “I want us to stop fighting against each other”
