“Daye Jack is …extremely talented at a young age and swirling together the styles that previously had been so carefully separated, all with a big grin. Whether he’s rapping or doling out sweet melodies, it’s all working”Huffington Post
The Video:

Daye Jack is many things. Born in Nigeria, raised in Atlanta, and living in Los Angeles, the former Computer Science major makes music that mixes rap, electro, and pop into a unique blend, forging the sound of Hip-Hop’s future. Daye demonstrates his versatile talent in the video for “Deep End,” premiered today by Billboard. Pool party poppin around him, Daye spits his verses percussively, flexing his skills as an MC over the MAG produced beat, before dropping into a delicate falsetto for the chorus, showing off the pop sensibility that inspired esteemed songwriter Max Martin to take Daye under his tutelage. Originally premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio and featured on the most recent episode of Empire, “Deep End” is a standout track from Daye’s second retail EP Surf The Web.

The EP features seven tracks about living a human life in a digital world, including previously-released highlights “Deep End,” the accurately titled “Raw,” played more than 363,000 times on SoundCloud, which features snapping boom-bap drums and “Death of Auto-Tune”-style guitars, and the bassy electro pop-rap banger “Finish Line,” (122,000 plays on SoundCloud). Featuring a guest appearance from Dev09 and production from the likes of Mike Elizondo (50 Cent, Eminem), Klas Ahlund (Robyn, Katy Perry, Madonna), Stefan Graslund (Charli XCX), Kiko Merley (Allan Kingdom) and MAG (Flo Rida’s “My House), Surf the Web is an endlessly replayable, detail-rich effort from one of music’s bright young talents.

Born in Nigeria, Daye Jack moved with his family to Atlanta at the age of six, splitting his time between soccer, computer programming, listening to Outkast, 50 Cent, and Eminem, and singing in choir. After high school, Daye earned a scholarship to NYU, majoring in Computer Science and furthering his musical development by absorbing the works of artists like Chance The Rapper, and deriving creative and collaborative inspiration from his talented classmates. In 2014, Daye released his breakthrough mixtape Hello Worldwhich caught the attention of Max Martin, who signed him to his publishing imprint, and Warner Bros. Records exec and producer Mike Elizondo, who signed him to a record deal.Since releasing his Soul Glitch EP in 2015, Daye has earned praise from outlets such as Billboard, Pitchfork and Pigeons & Planes, collaborated with the likes of Killer MikeAriana Grande, and Tori Kelly, and toured packed venues with Lukas Graham and Pell. Surf The Web, the latest step on Daye Jack’s evolutionary ladder, is available for purchase on iTunes and stream on Spotify and Apple Music.

Show Banga and IAMSU! Shake Their Dreads in Fun New Visual

Video: Show Banga ft. IAMSU! – “How We Rock”

The Two High School Classmates and Frequent Collaborators Rock a Bay Area Concert Hall in the XXL-Premiered ShowTime 2 Visual

    10.20.2016

    The Video:

A leader in the new wave of Bay Area talent, San Francisco’s Show Banga is a charismatic personality and an expert party-starter. The most popular track on Show Banga’s ShowTime 2 with 872,000 SoundCloud plays, How We Rock is an IASMU!-featuring function banger and an infectious lifestyle boast. Channeling the manic energy of their fans at a Bay Area concert, Banga and Su dance around the East Bay in the new visual for the track, shaking their dreads and going dumb in an abandoned industrial park. Premiered today by XXL, “How We Rock” is the fourth high quality visual from ShowTime 2, following the recent East Bay Express premiere of “Bonafide Hustla,” the wild,HipHopDX-premiered visual for “Steez 101,” and the motivational “$howtime,” which earned a premiere from XXL.

Explains Show Banga: “This record is an anthem not just for me & Su but for everybody that has a clique they rep hard for. On this record, we wanted to make something that would go off in the clubs and would make u wanna play it on repeat over & over. I think we did it. The video was filmed at IAMSUMMER back in my hometown San Francisco. Playing a hometown show was crazy – we were 3 blocks from my neighborhood and it was dope seeing my name on bright lights outside The Warfield. I don’t know too many artists who get to do that, and the show was sold out. I really wanted to get that Bay, fun, hyphy vibe for the video. Something that everybody from all ages could enjoy.”

A fixture on the Bay Area scene with deep relationships with members of the HBK Crew, Show Banga learned many of his hustling bonafides from his father Show Time. A respected entrepreneur who played a vital role in supporting local Bay Area street rap throughout the ‘90s and ‘00s, Show Time was a major role model for Banga and the inspiration for his latest album. Featuring guest spots from Sage The GeminiKool John, and Lil Yee, along with four features from IAMSU!, and production from IAMSU!,  Juneonnabeat, NikeyboyYoung Page and others, Show Time 2 proves Show Banga has the charisma and talent to break out of the Bay and burst onto the national scene. Show Time 2, a true Bay Area affair, is currently available for purchase.

    Show Banga Background:

Show Banga received his moniker from his father, nicknamed ShowTime, a hustler who opened up several independent music stores in the Bay Area and started Hunid Racks, a successful energy drink company that peaked in popularity during the Hyphy era in the Bay. Show Banga follows in his father’s footsteps, dedicating his life to getting money in any way possible. After getting kicked out of his mother’s house when she found a gun in his bedroom, Show Banga went to live with his father in Vallejo. In Vallejo, he attended Pinole Valley High School where he met many of the original members of HBK, eventually forming the Go Gettaz with IAMSU! and P-Lo, which gained a sizable local following before disbanding in 2011. Since then, Show Banga has earned success as a solo artist while still frequently collaborating with HBK artists such as IAMSU!, Kool John, and Sage The Gemini. Last year, the Fillmore rapper released his EMPIRE debut Mayor 4 Life, which DJ Booth called a “bridge between the Bay Area’s more gritty, street sound and it’s more polished, mainstream hip-hop.” Show Banga’s next album, Show Time 2, officially releases on August 12th and is currently available for pre-order.

“A veteran in the Bay Area rap scene, Philthy Rich built a reputation as the Bay Area’s Gucci Mane because of his drug-fueled, yet down-to-earth, rhymes, his prolific output, and his relationships with the best street rappers and producers.”HipHopDX

“The Oakland native has been working hard lately and been dropping some fire music.”XXL

    The Announcement:

A notoriously hard worker from East Oakland’s Seminary neighborhood, who came to prominence around the same time as trap music did, it’s clear to anyone familiar with Philthy Rich that he hasMoney In The Trap. His latest single off the upcoming Hood Rich 4, premiered today by Mass Appeal, is an affirmation of that fact. Philthy employs his trademark laid back delivery to let us know just how he earned his wealth and what he has spent it on over the Zaytoven produced trap banger.  Always networking, Philthy is joined by some of the realest rappers from across the country: Los Angeles’ Casey Veggies, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh, and D.C.’s Fat Trel.

With trap gaining mainstream popularity, the trap originators have opened up the meaning of the word to be more inclusive. “This is motivation music for anyone doing their 9-5, legitimately trapping, or anyone making money. Trapping has transcended its original definition of selling drugs to meaning making money anyhow, anywhere, period. You could be working at McDonalds, trapping. You could be throwing newspapers at people’s doorsteps at 6 in the morning, trapping. You could be a nurse. At the end of the day, you’re making money too,” Philthy explained.  “Money In The Trap” follows up the video for  “Fuck I Look Like” ft. Kash Doll,  which premiered on The FADER earlier this week. Hood Rich 4 also features appearances by  Soulja Boy, Jim Jones, Birdman, B.o.B, G. Herbo, Shy Glizzy, Young Dolph, Sauce Walka, and Sosamann.

This album is the culmination of a busy year for Philthy.  In July, XXL premiered, “59 To 79” a piano-laden trap banger featuring G Herbo. “59 to 79” followed the Zaytoven-produced cut “Numbers” and the remix to “Broke Boy,” which features a long guest list of buzzing artists. Earlier, Complex premiered “Barely Know My Name” which features Lil B, Mistah F.A.B., Mozzy and Celly Ru. In the lead up to January’s Real N*ggas Back in $tyle, the first in a series of three albums with the same title, Philthy Rich shared a series of singles starting withthe IAMSU-assisted money-making anthem “Make A Living,” which gained more than one million Soundcloud streams. Philthy Rich’s latest solo project, SemCity MoneyMan 4, available for streaming on Soundcloud and for purchase on iTunes.

  • Press Release

Memphis’ Jon Waltz Returns with “Riot,” Premiered by Zane Lowe and the FADER

    Song: Jon Waltz – “Riot”

After Seven Months of Musical Silence, The Memphis Artist Returns With a “Gutsy Song About Growing Up”

    10.19.2016

    Critical Praise for Jon Waltz

“At 19 years old, Jon Waltz puts the typical college sophomore/aspiring rapper to shame” – Pigeons & Planes

“(Jon Waltz) is pushing culture and social issues in a way that young people can relate to”Sway’s Universe

“Waltz has drawn comparisons to Drake for his ability to craft hooks and seamlessly weave between rapping and singing, as well as his introspection, but with the world his tight lyricism paints and his recurring character Alyss (Waltz’s Sherane), comparisons to Kendrick Lamar should also be fair game.” – Complex

    The Song:

Singer/rapper Jon Waltz is an artist who exists outside of the hype cycle, avoiding the industry pressure to release as much music as possible, only dropping new music when it meets his high standards. Blessed with equally impressive ability as a singer and a rapper, Jon Waltz’ distinctive style won him a legion of devoted fans all over the country. Premiered today by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show and the FADER, Waltz returns with “Riot,” his first new release in seven months. An inventive track with a unique song structure, “Riot” features a brilliant chorus, several infectious bridges, and poignant lyrics. As Jon describes, “It’s about who I was five years go versus who I am today. The main message is in the hook, where I say, ‘Hope someone sees and puts me out / instead they start a riot,’ describes how people can act out because they want help and don’t know how to ask for it. It’s misinterpreted as a call for more people to act out instead of lend a helping hand.” Produced with impressive warmth by Eric Lynch, Jack Dine, and RNDYSVGE, their soft keys, thumping drums, loping bass, and organ flourishes provide a compelling backdrop for 21-year-old artist’s homespun and relatable storytelling. “Riot” is Jon Waltz’ second single of 2016 following February’s “Justified,” which racked up 1.23 million plays on SoundCloud.

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Jon Waltz first demonstrated his talent in 2014, when he released Alyss, his debut EP. Documenting a 19-year-old mind fighting back against depression and disloyalty, Alyss received critical acclaim from publications such as Pigeons & Planes and Complex, who compared the artist to both Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and prompted LA Weekly’s Jeff Weiss to claim that “if [Jon] keeps it up, he could be one of the few artists that actually figure it all out.” With these accolades and cosigns from Jaden Smith and Lyor Cohen under his belt, “Riot” marks the first step towards Waltz’ next career move: his first full-length, due Spring of 2017.

    Jon Waltz Background:

Stoic faces, downers, and the digital glow of phone addicts encircled Memphis artist Jon Waltz as a teen, his city’s violent undertow threatening to drag him under. Armed with nothing but USB bedroom mics and a storyteller’s pen, he holed up to stay afloat, soon revealing his gifts for the first time with 2014’s Alyss. His debut EP documented a then-19-year-old mind fighting back against depression and disloyalty. Acclaimed by coveted publications (HotNewHipHop, Complex, RESPECT, Pigeons & Planes), unfiltered, and just 25 minutes long, Alyss signaled the arrival of a multidimensional perspective sorely missed both within and beyond Tennessee’s borders. It didn’t take long for industry titans to notice what was brewing down south; public cosigns from the likes of Lyor Cohen and Jaden Smith soon followed. Collective buzz had Jon positioned to blow. “Riot” is poised to push Jon past the tipping point. Politically charged and infused with old school soul, Jon’s finest work to date kicks open the doors to his first-ever full-length, White Fun, the result of two years of laborious tinkering. Jon’s sound mirrors deep-rooted conflict. He spins a story scored by the bluegrass of yesterday one moment and industrial futurism the next, moving through time to discover the ups and downs of life for kids who don’t fit in.

    Critical Praise for Philthy Rich

“With a decade-long career, ties to his region’s old guard, and a clever affection for delivery surrounded by repetitive earworm hooks, Philthy’s grown from a Mac Dre-affiliate into a venerable heavyweight of the Yay Area revival sound.”Mass Appeal

If I go out to the club, I’m gonna try with try with the baddest bitch there. I tapped Kash Doll for this song because she has possesses that raw combo of raunchiness and sexiness and she’s appealing to a man’s eye.”

He teamed with Maybach Music Group’s Yowdato release American Greed, a full-length project with appearances from Jim JonesJ Stalin, and more. Ralo Reflects on His Struggles, Takes “Showers in the Dark”

Song: Ralo – “Showers in the Dark”

The Atlanta Emcee and #Famerican Head Honcho Shines a Spotlight on a Highlight from Diary of the Streets II

    10.14.2016

    The Song:

Equal parts aggressive and reflective, helium-voiced emcee Ralo brings us a cerebral yet energetic brand of Atlanta street music. Revisiting a standout track from August’s Diary of the Streets II, Ralo releases “Shadows in the Dark,” a confessional rumination with melodic flow and dramatic trap production. Though Ralo spent many of his formative years in and out of prison, he worked hard to get his life together. “Showers in the Dark” is an affecting portrayal of Ralo’s daily struggle to stay out of the sway of the streets. “When they do that dirty shit to you,” Ralo says on the song’s intro, “You go in the shower and wash that shit out.”

In August 2016, Ralo released the Birdman-hosted Diary of the Streets II, an accomplished album stocked with trap bangers with a strong melodic element and personal and introspective lyrics. A well-respected figure in Atlanta’s streets, Ralo recruited several high profile guest rappers for popular summer singles, including the Future-featuring, Southside-produced banger “My Brothers,” which Noiseypremiered alongside a Q&A, “Survivor,” a solemn video single featuring Young Scooter, the heartfelt Shy Glizzy-featuring “Dear Your Honor,” and the Complex-premiered  Flexing on Purpose,a monstrous, lurching turn-up banger featuring Lil Uzi VertYoung Thug, and 21 Savage. Though that level of star power would dwarf a lesser artist, Ralo rises to the occasion, shining with his trademark charisma. The founder of a gang turned community organization and movement called “Famerican,” Ralo’s main goal is to make the rap game more positive and civil. “I want to have a good influence on the community and raise some awareness,” explains Ralo. “I want us to stop fighting against each other”

  • Press Release

Maxo Kream Stops Trapping For A Second To Take A “Smoke Break”

Video: Maxo Kream – “Smoke Break”

Houston’s Maxo Kream Smokes Up In Video For Standout Track Off Persona Tape

    10.14.2016

    Critical Praise for Maxo Kream:

“Over the last couple years, Maxo Kream has established himself as one of Houston’s most exciting young rappers by way of being one of Houston’s least traditionally minded artists.” – Noisey

“Going off Maxo’s last few tracks, The Persona Tape should live up to the expectations set by last year’s excellent MAXO 187.” – HotNewHipHop

“A sinister and visceral portrait of Houston street life.” – Pitchfork

    The Video:

One of the freshest voices coming out of Houston right now, Maxo Kream makes dark trap music anchored by his oversized personality. In his latest video he takes a “Smoke Break,” relaxing on the couch with his homies and partying on a boat with a group of beautiful women. Maxo rolls up tight verses that showcase multiple flows over the halting piano sample drives the Chuck Inglish produced beat. This is not Maxo and Chuck’s only collaboration: Maxo was featured on “Running Man,” the first Cool Kidssong in five years. “Smoke Break” is a standout track from Maxo’s Persona Tape, released via LiveMixtapes earlier this summer, and follows up the videos for “Out the Front Door” and “G3. Maxo Kream is currently in the midst of his first national tour, opening for Danny Brown on 40 dates over the span of three months.  Danny Brown’s label mate ZelooperZ  is also opening on the tour. Buy ticketshere.

Picking up where he left off with #Maxo187, Maxo Kream returns with equal grit on the Persona Tape. Featuring appearances from fellow Houston rapper Paul Wall and Atlanta rappers Playboi Carti, Key!,and Rich the Kid, the tape finds Maxo Kream exploring the intricacies of his public profile and how he is perceived.Your persona is how you carry yourself,” says Maxo Kream to Complex in their premiere for the Friday-inspired “Big Worm” video. “It tells people everything about who you are, so it’s more important than a social security number. This tape is everything I’m about. Persona shit.” Prior to the tape, Maxo Kream released “Big Worm,” in which he synthesizes the sounds of Southwest Houston with the sound of South London as he repurposes the classic Grime beat from Wiley‘s Morgue,” earning co-signs from Skepta and Wiley, and garnering over 435,000 Soundcloud plays in the process. Spike Lee,” featuring verses Playboy Carti and Rich The Kid and production from Chuck Inglish, finds Maxo and friends turning up over the booming, horn-filled production with rhymes about their lifestyles filled with women, money, and lean.

    Maxo Kream Background:

Upon meeting him, gangsta rapper isn’t the impression that most would get from buzzing Houston emcee, Maxo Kream, age 25. He has a surprisingly goofy and playful demeanor, often cracking self-aware jokes and displaying a smile with showcases either his gold grin or his trademark gap in the upper row of this teeth. But, make no mistake, Maxo’s backstory is a tale consisting of crime and death that would catch the attention of the most jaded followers of gangsta/trap rap.

Inspired by his college trip to SXSW and the fact that other street cliques throughout Houston such as FDAB (founded by late rapper T.O.Y, a childhood friend and Crip associate of Maxo) and MashMode (which has now resulted in the buzzing careers of Houston rap duo, The Sauce Twinz) were transitioning into music as a form of expression, Maxo and his younger cousin Lyndon (rap moniker Lyndo C), jumped into music. Maxo Kream’s sophomore project, #Maxo187 garnered attention with its unrelenting lyricism and exceptional production. With big name features and unmatched confidence, Maxo intends to show that he can compete with any emcee in the game.

J.R. Donato is a Joker and a Smoker on Why So Serious?

Mixtape: J.R. Donato – Why So Serious?

Taylor Gang’s Chicago Representative is on His “Movie Shit” on His Hard-Hitting New Album, Featuring Appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Sosamann and Levi Carter

    10.14.2016

    Critical Praise:

“…he uses his voice and flow in unique ways that only someone who’s been writing for close to a decade could pull off”HotNewHipHop

“The future is looking type bright for J.R.”Fake Shore Drive

“At 21-years old, the Chi town native J.R. Donato has already accomplished a lot”GoodMusicAllDay

“Make it count and get in tune with Young Donato”onSMASH

“J.R. Donato is poised for mainstream success” – Dirty Glove Bastard

    The Mixtape:

With a radio hit by middle school, a cosign from Twista by high school, and a record deal with Taylor Gang by age 20, J.R. Donato has accomplished more in his 22 years than most do in a lifetime. Today, Donato adds to his considerable list of accomplishments with the release of Why So Serious?, his latest project out via LiveMixtapes. Inspired by Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight, J.R. Donato shares The Joker’s ability to live on the edge and laugh in the face of adversity. Packed with head-nodding, percussive flows, rhythmic hooks, and clever lyrical couplets, Who So Serious? is a level up for Donato, boasting the strongest bars and song craftsmanship of his career. Featuring guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Sosamann, and Levi CarterWhy So Serious?, the proper follow-up to last year’s Fast Money & Freedom, equally appeals to party-starters and to the smokers.

“I love the The Dark Knight with Heath Ledger,” explains J.R. Donato. “The Joker is a very serious guy, but at the end of the day, the way he lives is on the edge: we could be here today, gone tomorrow. Why be serious? Just have fun doing whatever you want to do. I might tell a serious story but at the end of day, I want people to vibe out and have fun.  Life should be fun. Everything will fall into place. I got this mentality from dealing with serious things going on with my family. I have uncles who were in the Feds and we stressed, we cried about them being there but they’re coming home soon and we’ll be able to be together again. Life experiences in general made me have this mentality. A lot of times I’m hard on myself but at the end of the day, you shouldn’t focus on things you can’t control, for real, for real. I ain’t gon’ say I do that all the time, but it’s better to think bout positive things than negative things. Keep a positive mind-state.”

Last month, J.R. Donato shared “Trap Never Closed,” a dramatic, drill-tinged single and video premiered by Dirty Glove Bastard, which was an ideal appetizer for Why So Serious? The mixtape also follows two standout loose singles from J.R., including the Fake Shore Drivepremiered loose video “All That I Need,” filmed at Chicago’s Fat Tiger Workshop, and the HipHopDX-debuted “Not For None, which dropped in May and featured the rapper flowing around Inception-horns and spiraling sine waves, finding colorful new ways to boast about his lifestyle. Born and raised on North Chicago, Illinois, J.R. Donato started rapping in his early teens and eventually caught the ear of Wiz Khalifa, who featured J.R. on hisCabin Fever 2 mixtape and later signed him to Taylor Gang Entertainment. Donato also contributed a standout verse to Wiz Khalifa‘s “Make a Play,” featured on the Billboard Top 10 peaking Khalifa album. His second release through Taylor Gang, Why So Serious? will convince the non-believers that J.R. Donato is one to be taken seriously.

    JR Donato Background:

J.R. Donato’s music can be summed up into three words; conceptual, vivid and thorough. His image, outlook on life and positivity that he brings to the hiphop community is a breathe of fresh air. His passion manifested itself early in the form of songwriting. “I always wrote about things I had been through or seen,” J.R. says. “I still do. Every song is another piece of my life and story.” Before J.R. reached his teenage years, he was already penning lyrics for himself and others. By the time he was 13, Young J.R. had a regional hit single “500 Degrees,” with a live performance presence that was unheard of for a kid who just left his teens. That led to other tracks like “Money On My Mind” and “We Be Rydin,” creating a sizeable buzz for young entertainer. He was popping up on mixtapes and performing at clubs he was too young to even attend.

    Critical Praise for Scotty ATL:

“Scotty ATL has been consistently dropping solid music for quite some time now, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning to stop anytime soon.” – Complex

“Scotty ATL is the ultimate blue-collar rapper that you don’t have to try and relate to—it just comes natural.” – Mass Appeal

    The Video:

Many rappers talk about realness, but few are as effortlessly authentic as Scotty ATL. The lead single from Scotty’s Daily Bread album, “So High” is a lighthearted smoker’s anthem, with Scotty rocking a sing-song flow over music box chimes, aided by an impossibly infectious chorus from Jay Dot Rain. Today,Karen Civil premiered a candy-colored visual for the track, featuring Scotty rocking his Roddy White jersey, dancing atop an artistic food truck, and posting up in Eugene, Oregon with some scantily-clad lady friends. Produced by KE On the Track, “So High” represents a necessary bright spot on Scotty’s often heavy Daily Bread, an album rooted in tragedy and triumph, focusing on Scotty’s personal growth and lessons learned.

“So High” follows “Kno That U Will,” a Tino-produced, Kissie Lee-featuring highlight from Daily Breadwith a visual premiered last week by HipHopDX, and the FADER-premiered “Bye Bye,” in which Scotty enlists Ty Dolla $ign to mourn lost loved ones. Informed by grief and great loss, including a stretch in March when Scotty lost four close friends in four weeksDaily Bread follows in a noble tradition of rap classics like UGK’s Ridin Dirty and songs like Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y.” or 2Pac’s “Keep Ya Head Up,” exploring the excesses and the consequences of a rapper’s life. With features from Ty Dolla $ignJaydot Rain, and Kissie Lee, and production from DJ Burn OneKE On the Track, JayeLL, and Cory Mo, among others, Daily Bread is the result of a career’s worth of grinding, and it stands as one of the rapper’s most accomplished efforts.

Scotty will be performing a Daily Bread Unplugged event with a live band on November 4th at Smith’s Olde Bar. Tickets are available here.

    Daily Bread Tracklist:

    1. Stupid Rich (Prod by Cory Mo)
    2. Tha Ruler (Prod by CAL – i)
    3. Destined
    4. Cant be Life (Prod by JayeLL)
    5. M.Y.O.B (Prod by KE On the Track)

    Scotty ATL Background:

Everything about Scotty ATL is definitively southern. From the way he positions his ‘A’ hat atop his head down to the flip-flop and socks on his feet, he’s an authentic offspring of the culture that has raised him. Hailing from the city’s eastside, Scotty ATL is the funk and soul of Outkast mixed with the political and social-consciousness of Goodie Mob, but from a perspective all his own. An utterly independent spirit with a distinct drawl and vernacular, his name embodies his persona. Scotty ATL is all things Atlanta, yet his movement is worldwide, which is neither by coincidence nor chance.

A hustler since the womb, Scotty ATL formed his own label Cool Club, an ode to his style and attitude upon entering the business of entertainment. The street-smart rapper then began effectively building his brick-by-brick campaign putting in countless hours and money to expand his presence. As a result, he released a succession of popular mixtapes starting with the debut of 2011’s Summer Dreams hosted by DJ Burn One, which ignited a cult-like following. He released other successful projects such as In The Meantime, The Jiffy Cornbread Experience, F.A.I.T.H (Forever Atlanta In The Heart), In The Meantime 2 and SPAGHETTI Junction, all of which spawned notable singles. In 2014, he joined forces with Grammy-nominated artist B.o.B’s No Genre imprint and embarked on a nation-wide tour billed the Cool Club Tour. The following year he was featured on the remix to Curren$y’sCloud IX” and followed that up with the instant classic The Cooligan, a 16-track composition hosted by DJ Scream and DJ Mike Mars. The pivotal mixtape featured collaborations with Curren$y, CyHi The Prynce, 8Ball, Devin The Dude, and B.O.B, with production credits going to KE On The Track, DJ Burn One, and Drumma Boy.

    J. Stalin Mobs in Muscle Cars with Nef The Pharaoh and Lil Blood in “Get Me Some,” Premiered by Passion of the Weiss

    J. Stalin Mobs in Muscle Cars with Nef The Pharaoh and Lil Blood in “Get Me Some,” Premiered by Passion of the Weiss

Video: J. Stalin – “Get Me Some” ft. Nef The Pharaoh & Lil Blood (Prod. by The Mekanix)

    J. Stalin “Has Been a Ceaseless Stream of Mutated Hyphy for the Last Decade,” Raves Passion of the Weiss in Their Premiere of the On Behalf of the Streets 2 Track

    Critical Praise:

“As the owner of Livewire Records, West Oakland rapper J Stalin provides a place for the growth of incredibly creative, meat-and-potatoes Bay Area hip-hop. The label hosts gritty rubbery street music that navigates crack dealing devastation and grounded partying tracks with equal aplomb, with artists that range from Stalin himself to MCs like Shady Nate and Philthy Rich among others.” – SPIN

“J Stalin pushes the envelope by vividly reiterating his Mob Bay Area persona and turmoil of his harsh upbringing.” – XXL

    The Video:

A raspy-voiced slick-talking veteran of Bay Area rap, J. Stalin is a reliable provider of hot street rap. Mobbing in big-rimmed muscle cars with Nef The Pharaoh and Lil Blood, Stalin takes some time to enjoy himself in the video for Get Me Some,” enthusiastically dancing to the funky, Mekanix-produced beat. The latest single from J. Stalin’s upcoming On Behalf of the Streets 2, “Get Me Some” finds the three East Bay emcees embracing the hustler mentality, while paying tribute to brethren in prison: “There’s money out there,” Stalin sings in the track’s hook, “Imma get me some.” “Get Me Some” exhibits quality chemistry between the three rappers, with Stalin’s confident rasp, Nef’s slippery witticisms, and Blood’s hyperactive bellow coalescing into a quintessential Bay Area banger. Premiered today by Passion of the Weiss, who praised the track as a “defiant, psychedelic blur” and “what an alien might make if he tried to approximate a song of celebration,” “Get Me Some” is the second release from OBOTS 2, following September’s “West Oakland N*gga.”

The long-awaited sequel to J. Stalin’s 2006 debut album, On Behalf of the Streets 2 is a versatile effort with a long list of guest stars. Produced entirely by The Mekanix and featuring appearances from IAMSU!, K Camp, Nef The Pharaoh, Lil Bood, G-Eazy, Philthy Rich, Slim 400, Rayven Justice, Celly Ru, 4Rax of the Mekanix, Young Doe, G-Stack, Erk Da Jerk and a posthumous appearance from The Jacka, among others, OBOTS 2 is an epic listening experience, effortlessly gliding from style-to-style, never growing stale or repetitive. Though the guest appearances and the glistening Mekanix production demand attention, J. Stalin is the main attraction, adding his raspy gravitas and crafting memorable couplets and concepts for every track. Following up last year’s Tears of JoyOn Behalf of the Streets 2, out October 28th, is well worth the decade-long wait and is one of J. Stalin’s strongest full-length efforts yet.

E-40 Drops New Single “On One” Featuring AD from Upcoming Double Album “The D-Boy Diary” Books 1 & 2

Song: E-40 – “On One” ft. AD

The Bay Area Ambassador wastes no time in releasing new single for his fans ahead of highly anticipated new project, premiered by GQ

    10.11.2016

    Critical Praise for E-40

“Whoever you are, and whatever your low-grade malaise, E-40 is here to banish it. The Bay Area rap forefather is a human exclamation point, a superhero whose power is remaining helplessly in love with his work. E-40 works harder and more joyfully at making great rap music than you or I have ever worked on anything”Pitchfork

“The Bay Area’s ambassador E-40 is one of those rare veterans in hip-hop that gets better with time.”Complex

    The Song:

Hip-Hop trailblazer E-40 follows up the announcement of his highly anticipated upcoming new double album The D-Boy Diary Books 1 & 2, with the release of a dope new single titled “On One” featuring fellow West Coast rapper AD. The new club banger, which was premiered by GQ, is just a taste of what’s to come on Forty Water’s 44-track album that will mark his 26th and 27th solo releases, slated to hit the streets on November 18th.

“My fans out there know me for two kinds of music and this one in particular is that up-tempo Function Music with a sinister baseline,” says E-40. ‘On One’ has my name written all over it. From the moment vintage E-40 fans hear the beat, they along with my more current fans are gonna immediately subscribe to this first single off the D-Boy Diary Books, watch what I tell you now.”

When asked about his experience working with E-40, AD says, “As a big fan of Uncle 40 water, I wanted to bring my energy to the slappers Unc has been creating for years. I got a call from my management that 40 sent a beat through for a hook. I was honored and humbled and made sure I gave it 110% percent.”

E-40 says he handpicked the fellow rapper for his new record. “AD is perfect on the record because his voice brings the kind of energy that E-40 fans appreciate. Plus, I keep it relevant and rock with the young rappers, game recognize game mane.”

If you live in the New York area, you can catch E-40 at Webster Hall on November 12th

    E-40 Background:

One of the most celebrated rappers of all time, E-40 has attained legendary status in hip-hop. Since making his debut with The Click almost 30 years ago and becoming one of the first West Coast rap artists to sign to a major label, his name has become synonymous with the independent music movement. E-40 has released 24 solo albums, become a platinum recording artist and collaborated with artists including Tupac, UGK, and Snoop Dogg. At age 48, E-40 is an anomaly in hip-hop, maintaining his relevance over a career that spans three decades. In the past few years alone, he’s been featured on several Billboard charts (“Choices,” Big Sean’s “IDFWU”, Ty Dolla $ign’s “Saved”), he’s earned an RIAA-certified Gold plaque (“Choices”) and starred and had his 2006 smash hit “Tell Me When to Go” featured in a Beats By Dre commercial. Says E-40, “What’s happening at this point in my career defies logic. Name another 48-year-old rapper with one Gold record, let alone three in the same year. My fans stretch much further than the Bay Area, further than just the West Coast. I brought so much shit to hip-hop. I’ve been relevant in each generation and each decade and I’ve done it as an independent artist.”

E-40’s success extends beyond the music industry, most notably through his entrepreneurship in the adult beverages industry. His wine business, Earl Stevens Selections, distributes high-quality wine to stores across the country, including BevMo, Safeway, and local liquor stores. He has made inroads into the pre-mixed cocktail business with Sluricane, a signature bottled-mix named after his 1995 hit “Hurricane,” with The Click, which was the top-selling beverage at BevMo when it was first released. In 2015, E-40 released an eponymous brand of 40-oz. malt liquor. E-40 is continuing his unprecedented longevity and success as an independent artist with his next album, scheduled for late 2016.

🐬🐬 Young Dolph And 2 Chainz Want to Know “What Yo Life Like” 🐬🐬

Video: Young Dolph – “What Yo Life Like” ft. 2 Chainz

The Two Southern Heavyweights Reminisce Over What Their Life Was Like While They Celebrate How Far They’ve Come

    10.07.2016

    Critical Praise:

“Young Dolph has cultivated that formula that makes the bando jump”XXL

“What makes Dolph exemplary is his affinity for memorable hooks and catchy call-and-response punch lines” – Complex

King of Memphis is worth myriad repeat listens: Dolph bridges the gap between his hometown and the Atlanta production that dominates rap’s mainstream.”SPIN

    Top 10 Hip-Hop Cash Prince of 2016 – Forbes

    The Video:

Everyone knows that Young Dolph is really about it, so there is no point in asking him what his life is like. In “What Yo Life Like,” however, Dolph is interested in knowing about you, questioning whether you’ve ever sold green or white or seen a dope fiend hit a pipe. Over a Zaytoven beat, Dolph is joined by 2 Chainz in recalling their early years of struggle, while also celebrating their present successes and wealth. Mixing in flashbacks to their youths with them flexing their current riches, the video is a testament to how far both have come. The video ends with a teaser for the video for “Foreva,” showing Dolph and T.I. at a motel with plenty of cash and women.

Riding a year-long hot streak, Dolph has become one of the most popular and prolific independent rappers in the game today.  “What Yo Life Like” follows up the “Nothin‘,”  the fourth video released from Young Dolph’s latest mixtape, Rich Crack Baby, coming after the black-and-white video for “If,” the strip club-set “Trappa,” which has 590,000 views on YouTube, and the David Lynch-meets-the trap clip for thetitle track (over 1 million views). With features from T.I., Gucci Mane, Boosie Badazz, 21 SavageWale and 2 Chainz and production from Zaytoven, Drumma BoyHonorable C-Note and othersRich Crack Baby is a titanic effort from Young Dolph, affirming his status as one of street rap’s biggest names. His recent nomination for the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ “People’s Champ” Award makes it clear that the rest of rap world can’t deny it anymore either.

Rich Crack Baby is the third high-quality mixtape from Young Dolph’s busy 2016, following the release ofBo$$e$ and $hooter$ in May and King of Memphis in February. Noisey described King of Memphis, a 11-track dose of pure Dolph with no featured artists, as “a solid debut album from one of the most quietly popular artists in the South right now.” In addition to dropping an excellent mixtape every three months, the Memphis kingpin also frequently releases inventive visuals, including the hilarious “Get Paid,” and the absurd “Royalty,” which features cameo appearances from a capuchin monkey, a giraffe, and even a white tiger. In January, Forbes named Young Dolph one of The Hip-Hop Cash Princes of 2016, placing him alongside Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, and Metro Boomin, among others, and last month, Dolph successfully headlined the 21-date Royalty tour. The end of 2016 appears to be more of the same for Dolph, who started off his Autumn appearing on “Bling Blaww Burr,” the lead single on Gucci Mane‘s upcoming Woptober. Dolph also had a star guest turn on “Cut It the hit by OT Genasis, his first foray onto the Billboard charts, peaking at number 35 on the Hot 100.

    Young Dolph Background

Born on the South Side of Chicago and raised in notoriously known Castalia Heights neighborhood in South Memphis, Young Dolph emerged in the urban music scene and amassed a large dedicated fan base.  Dolph grew up in a hectic environment, surrounded by drugs and alcohol, but that never completely defined him. He always had a passion for music, but it wasn’t until his peers recognized his talent and suggested that he take rap seriously. Eventually his hustle mentality and creativity led him to consistently dropping mixtape after mixtape. With authentic punch lines and stern club bangers, he created his own lane of High Class Street Music.  On the strength of releasing consistent quality mixtapes, Dolph became one of the only independent musicians to have multiple Top 20 records with “Preach” and “California” and Top 40 records with “Make the World Go Around” and “Pulled Up.” Yet to release an album, the success Dolph has gained from his mixtapes have led to collaborations with some of the most influential artists in hip-hop including 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross. In 2015, Dolph headlined his own tour selling out throughout the country.

    EMPIRE Background

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels. Given its reputation, EMPIRE works with today’s hottest talent from superstars such as T.I. and red-hot newcomers such as Anderson .Paak. While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and joined forces with Republic Records for the release of Sage The Gemini’s Remember Me album.

ATL’s Ralo Handles His Business in “This One For”

Video: Ralo – “This One For”

The #Famerican General Executes a Successful Transaction in the HotNewHipHop-Premiered Video

    10.06.2016

    The Video:

With cosigns from all of Atlanta’s best and most respected rappers, Ralo is a torrent of high-pitched energy and a deep source of street knowledge and wisdom. Riding an energetic, melodic flow over piano-led trap produciton, and buttressed by shoutouts from Future, Ralo creates a hustler’s anthem with “This One For.” Premiered today by HotNewHipHop, the video single depicts a successful transaction in an abandoned Georgia warehouse, ending in a cliffhanger as Ralo asserts his authority. A highlight from Ralo’s Diary of the Streets II“This One For” is the latest in a long line of bangers from Ralo and proves why he is one of the most promising talents in the south.

The sequel to the popular Diary of the Streets mixtape, Diary of the Streets II was the culmination of a busy summer for the rapper. With production from from Southside, DJ Plugg, and Wheezy, the project delivers on what we have come to expect from Ralo: trap bangers with a strong melodic element and personal and introspective lyrics. Hosted by Birdman, Diary of the Streets II already spawned several quality singles, including the Future-featuring, Southside-produced banger “My Brothers,” which Noiseypremiered alongside a Q&A, “Survivor,” a solemn video single featuring Young Scooter, the heartfelt Shy Glizzy-featuring “Dear Your Honor,” and the Complex-premiered  Flexing on Purpose,a monstrous, lurching turn-up banger featuring Lil Uzi VertYoung Thug, and 21 Savage. Though that level of star power would dwarf a lesser artist, Ralo rises to the occasion, shining with his trademark charisma. Hosted by Birdman, to whom Ralo paid tribute in a recent music videoDiary of the Streets II is a monument to Ralo’s exalted stature in the Atlanta streets. For a documentary version of Ralo’s street diaries, check out Chapter 9 of his video series, which features scenes from Ralo’s New York press tour and more.

Well into his third decade as a rap hitmaker, E-40 added another career milestone in May when the RIAA certified his 2015 single “Choices” as a Gold Record. “Choices,” a national smash hit, is another in a long list of Gold and Platinum-certified records by the rapper. Earlier this year, 40 released bass-heavy banger Slappin’,” featuring Nef The Pharaoh and D.R.A.M., which earned over 1.1 million views on the official YouTube video, and graced the airwaves with Petty,” featuring Kamaiyah, one of the Bay Area’s brightest rising stars. In addition to his career in show business, E-40 is a respected entrepreneur in the adult beverage industry.

Scotty ATL Reflects on Lost Loved Ones in a Georgia Freeway in This Video Single from Daily Bread

    09.30.2013

    output_13hfkg

    Critical Praise for Scotty ATL:

“Scotty ATL has been consistently dropping solid music for quite some time now, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning to stop anytime soon.” – Complex

“Scotty ATL is the ultimate blue-collar rapper that you don’t have to try and relate to—it just comes natural.” – Mass Appeal

    The Video:

With his down-home drawl and plainspoken charisma, few rappers are as real and down-to-Earth asScotty ATL. Recorded during a period of great loss for the Cool Club CEO, “Kno That U Will,” produced by Tino and featuring a hook from Kissie Lee, is a Southern-fried, guitar-driven, downtempo track about how grief can amplify life’s everyday struggles. In March 2016, before going on tour with B.o.B, Scotty lost four close friends in four weeks, including frequent collaborator and close friend Bankroll Fresh. Posting up on a Georgia freeway with a highball of liquor, Scotty ATL reflects on those that he lost as the video intercuts with black and white home movie clips. Premiered today by HipHopDX, “Kno That U Will” is the third single from Scotty’s recently released Daily Bread, following “So High,” a JayDot-featuring stoner’s anthem, and “Bye Bye,” a mournful trap ballad with a beautiful guest spot from Ty Dolla $ign.

Released on September 21st, Daily Bread is an album rooted in tragedy and triumph, focusing on Scotty’s personal growth and lessons learned. With features from Ty Dolla $ignJaydot Rain, and Kissie Lee, and production from DJ Burn OneKE On the Track, JayeLL, and Cory Mo, among others, Daily Breadfollows in a noble tradition of rap classics like UGK’s Ridin Dirty and songs like Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y.” or 2Pac’s “Keep Ya Head Up,” exploring the excesses and the consequences of a rapper’s life. A rapper, producer, record label owner, and entrepreneur, Daily Bread is the result of a career’s worth of grinding, and it stands as one of the rapper’s most accomplished efforts.

    Daily Bread Tracklist:

    2. Tha Ruler (Prod by CAL – i)

Set apart by his oversized personality, Maxo Kream has proved himself to be one of the freshest voices in Houston Hip-Hop, making music for both swangin and slangin. His latest video “Out The Front Door,” premiered today by FADER, serves as more evidence. A psychedelic ode to selling drugs, the video shows Maxo trapping in his house with lean, guns, and a Supreme stash bag. “Out The Front Door” is the third visual from Maxo’s The Persona Tape, released via LiveMixtapes earlier this summer, and follows up the video for “G3. Maxo Kream is currently on his first national tour, opening for Danny Brown on 40 dates over the span of three months.  Danny Brown’s label mate ZelooperZ  is also opening on the tour. Buy tickets here.

Picking up where he left off with #Maxo187, Maxo Kream returns with equal grit on the The Persona Tape. Featuring appearances from fellow Houston rapper Paul Wall and Atlanta rappers Playboi Carti, Key!, and Rich the Kid, the tape finds Maxo Kream exploring the intricacies of his public profile and how he is perceived.Your persona is how you carry yourself,” says Maxo Kream to Complex in their premiere for the Friday-inspired “Big Worm” video.

Ten Years After His Debut Record, J. Stalin Announces On Behalf of The Streets 2, Drops Single

Ten Years After His Debut Record, J. Stalin Delivers On Behalf of The Streets 2, Produced Entirely by The Mekanix

HotNewHipHop Premieres First Single, “West Oakland N*gga”

    09.28.2016

    The Announcement:

In November 2006, in the midst of the first Hyphy boom, West Oakland slick-talker J. Stalin delivered his debut album, On Behalf of the Streets. Created in collaboration with legendary Bay Area sound architects The Mekanix, J. Stalin crafted a street classic, fusing the Bay’s signature mob and hyphy sounds with gritty hood tales and detail-oriented realism. It took J. Stalin a full decade and fifteen studio albums, but he finally created a proper sequel; an album worthy of bearing his debut’s title. Rejoining The Mekanix for a 22-track opus, J. Stalin announces On Behalf of the Streets 2, releasing on October 28th.

A versatile effort with a long list of guest stars, On Behalf of the Streets 2 is a worthy follow-up to the original album. Featuring appearances from IAMSU!, K Camp, Nef The Pharaoh, Lil Bood, G-Eazy, Philthy Rich, Slim 400, Rayven Justice, Celly Ru, 4Rax of the Mekanix, Young Doe, G-Stack, Erk Da Jerk and a posthumous appearance from The Jacka, among others, OBOTS 2 is an epic listening experience, effortlessly gliding from style-to-style, never growing stale or repetitive. Though the guest appearances and the glistening Mekanix production demands attention, J. Stalin is the main attraction, adding his raspy gravitas and crafting memorable couplets and concepts for every track. Following up last year’s Tears of JoyOn Behalf of the Streets 2 is well worth the decade-long wait and is one of J. Stalin’s strongest full-length efforts yet.

A stand-out track off the album, West Oakland N*gga” is OBOTS 2‘s lead single, premiered byHotNewHipHop. Rhyming over a bass heavy instrumental courtesy of The Mekanix, J. lets everyone know exactly who he is and where he stays posted. With a classic Bay Area sound “West Oakland N*gga” demonstrates the album’s authentic perspective on street issues. Releasing via J. Stalin’s Livewire RecordsOn Behalf of the Streets 2 hits stores and DSPs on October 28th.

    Chevy Woods Background:

An experienced rapper with a tireless work ethic, Chevy Woods represents for Pittsburgh with every release. First gaining notoriety as an associate of Wiz Khalifa, Chevy has gained a devoted fanbase through a decade’s worth of mixtapes and a busy touring schedule. In 2015, Chevy released The 48 Hunnid Project, his first retail release via Taylor Gang Ent. Named after the block he was raised on in the Hazelwood area of Pittsburgh, The 48 Hunnid Project is a legacy-defining EP that finds Woods taking listeners on a journey from the hard times and harsh realities that came in his early years leading into the lavish lifestyle that’s come more recently with world tours and fame. Chevy Woods followed up The 48 Hunnid Project, with a busy 2016, featuring numerous loose singles, freestyles over popular industry beats like Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up” and Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t,” and highlighted by February’s And the Story Goes…, a 4-part video EP that finds Pittsburgh rapper reflecting on his adolescence and contemplating career paths. Beyond music, Woods has recently been in the spotlight for his culinary skills, which have been featured by Edible Ink and First We Feast. Chevy also made headlines when he partnered with California-based clothing brand Ethika for a line of signature men’s briefs. Chevy Woods will make more noise this year with his upcoming full-length album, Taylor’d, which features singles such as “History,” ft. Devin Cruise, and “Bank of America,” featuring Rich The Kid, releases in the fall of 2016.
