As July comes to an end, this week’s podcast is full of tracks that’ll leave you ready to kick off the final stretch of your summer. The episode starts off with “59 to 79” by Philthy Rich ft. G Herbo; a lyrical, hookless banger in which Philthy opens up about life before becoming successful in the rap game. The second track, “East Side” is off of The 702 EP, Dizzy Wright‘s most recent project. As an ode to where he resides, Dizzy paints a picture of driving around late night with his top town. The EP was released earlier this month and is the second EP to come from Dizzy this year. The third song on the list is “New Phone Who Dis” by Casper & B, which was premiered by NYLON. The catchy, bouncy anthem features Pell out of New Orleans. Switching gears, our next pick for this weeks podcast is “6 Shots” by Mistah F.A.B. In the song, FAB discusses the Black Lives Matter Movement and the recent acts of police brutality that have been going on across the country. The final track, “G3” by Maxo Kream gets a little personal, opening up about his Xanex usage while still making you want to dance. The song was premiered on The Fader last week, and is off of his most recent mixtape, The Persona Tape. Noisey described Maxo as someone who “has established himself as one of Houston’s most exciting young rappers by way of being one of Houston’s least traditionally minded artists.”
