The Podcast:
Starting off Audible Treats Hip-Hop Podcast 175 is prolific R&B singer/songwriter Marc E. Bassy with his soulful new single, “Some Things Never Change,” off his East Hollywood EP which released last month. The track has Marc delivering an infectious hook, showcasing his wide-ranging vocal skills accompanied by a wavy, vibed-out beat. Next up is Oakland, California’s Main Attrakionz with “Ain’t No Other Way” from their forthcoming 808s and Dark Grapes 3 album, their first official release in almost three years. Main Attrakionz debuted “Ain’t No Other Way” with a visual directed by Kreayshawn and 808s and Dark Grapes 3 is slated for release on June 30 via Neil Young‘s Vapor Records. Third on the podcast is Victoria Monét with the ultimate throwback song, “90’s Babies.” Victoria brings back to the days of FUBU and VHS tapes with the track, which is the first single off her forthcoming EP, Nightmares & Lullabies: Act II. Following the wavy single is HBK Gang‘s Azure with “Nine Nine,” the first glimpse of his forthcoming debut solo album, Leap Year. While Azure may be best recognized as Iamsu!‘s DJ, he’s been branching out over the past year providing raps and production as one-third of Oakland trio Down 2 Earth, whose Wildfire mixtape released earlier year with features from Kehlani, Jay Ant, and Tajai of Souls of Mischief. Concluding the podcast is “Wild Turkey” from prolific Dallas-via-Houston trio The Outfit, TX, who just hit the road with Run the Jewels on a Red Bull Sound Select tour during the 4th quarter of 2014. “Gotcha dawg with you? Check. Gotcha full cup of that 101 Proof? Check. Gotcha 2 finely brushed wild mares with you? Check. Got enough weed for the entire night? Check. Now the only question remaining is ‘WHERE WE MOBBIN TO?’”
