Mixtape: Peewee Longway – Spaghetti Factory
The 1017 Affiliate Collaborates with Production Duo Spaghetti Jay For an Inventive and Hard-Hitting Full-Length
4.13.2018
Critical Praise for Peewee Longway:
“Peewee Longway is one of hip-hop’s secret weapons.” – XXL
“His topic is usually trapping, but that singular scope allows him to be one of Atlanta’s most consistent rappers on the subject.” – Pitchfork
“As a sheer vocal stylist, Longway is an absolutely incredible rapper, one capable of finding five different cadences on one spacey beat and then trying them all out in the space of a single verse.” – Stereogum
The Mixtape:
Armed with an unlimited arsenal of inventive flows, ATL’s Peewee Longway’s unique approach to rapping creates some of his city’s most strangely entrancing sounds. Joining forces with Atlanta production duo Spaghetti Jay, Peewee releases Spaghetti Factory, his latest mixtape. Thundering atop aqueous and speaker-knocking trap production, Peewee demonstrates his verbal dexterity on the new tape, twisting and contorting words like taffy. Premiered by HYPEBEAST, the mixtape features the single “I Can’t Get Enough,” which Complex praised, saying, “Peewee exhibits his lyrical prowess, employing a number of tongue-twisting lyrics, almost as if the song is a practice in alliterations.” Packed with 10 off-kilter and addictive trap anthems, Spaghetti Factory arrives via EMPIRE.
An influential figure in the ATL trap scene, Peewee Longway is a longtime associate of Gucci Mane and Young Thug, and is responsible for connecting the two back in 2013. Praised by Stereogum, XXL, HotNewHipHop, and others for his distinctive style and songwriting ability, Peewee earned the attention of LL Cool J, who called Peewee his favorite new artist. Last year, the MPA BandCamp rapper released The Blue M&M 3, his 11th mixtape since 2014, which featured appearances from Quavo, Young Dolph, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Offset, and features the sleeper hit “Rerocc” (1.8 million streams on Spotify and over 9 million views on YouTube). Most recently, Peewee shared the FADER-premiered video for “I Can’t Get Enough,” which ably paid tribute to the quaaludes scene from Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. The rapper’s first project of 2018, Spaghetti Factory finds the 1017 affiliate bringing his own signature blend of sauce to Spaghetti Jay’s whimsical and aqueous trap productions.

The Background:
Peewee Longway, born Quincy Williams, is an Atlanta based artist known for his unorthodox flow and extraordinary use of intonation. Hailing from the tough streets of South Atlanta, Peewee, as his friends refer to him, grew up in a single parent home with one brother and one sister. Regardless of the obstacles he was presented with Peewee Longway still found a way to persevere and become known as one of Atlanta’s most revered lyrical new artists. His debut mixtape Money, Pounds, Ammunition was released in March of 2013. Though most became familiar with Peewee Longway from his affiliation with his mentor, and close friend, Gucci Mane’s label 1017, he actually nurtured and created his own imprint, MPA Bandcamp Music Group. The next release, Running Around the Lobby, picked up steam and earned Peewee loyal fans that call themselves “Lobby Runners”. In turn this became the name to the third mixtape he put out that same year, in December of 2013.
Much like his peers that emerged from the Trap Music explosion in Atlanta, such Young Thug and Future, Peewee’s work ethic is phenomenal having released 10 projects since his debut in 2013. The last three projects Peewee released (Blue M&M King Size & MPA Vol. 2 & 3) were actually released in just months of each other. When asked, Peewee says that among his favorite Groups and Artists are the Hot Boyz, No Limit, Tupac, E40, and Gucci Mane. With hits like “Sneekin and Geekin,” “Cost to Be the Boss,” and “I Just Want the Money,” Peewee began to gain the attention of Legends like LL Cool J, who named him his “favorite new artist”. He also began to record with fellow Artists, such as ASAP Rocky, E40, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Wale. Music Publications including The Fader, Complex, and XXL have also taken notice of the budding superstar, crediting his contribution to the evolution of Southern music. With the release of his most recent project, Longway Sinatra executive produced by Cassius Jay, Peewee hopes to finally catapult his career to the next level. Longway Sinatra will be Peewee Longway’s second commercial release. With the music world on pins and needles waiting for his new musical offering, Peewee takes it all in stride. Known for his bubbly personality, bright smile, and animated hand gestures, he quotes ”The best is yet to come, they’re not ready.”
