The ATL Innovator Shares the Latest Highlight From His Upcoming The Blue M&M 4 Mixtape, Reveals the Project’s Tracklist
8.15.2019
Critical Praise:
“Peewee Longway is one of hip-hop’s secret weapons.” – XXL
“His topic is usually trapping, but that singular scope allows him to be one of Atlanta’s most consistent rappers on the subject.” – Pitchfork
“As a sheer vocal stylist, Longway is an absolutely incredible rapper, one capable of finding five different cadences on one spacey beat and then trying them all out in the space of a single verse.” – Stereogum
The Announcement:
Switching up his flow for every song, and often multiple times within a single verse, Peewee Longway is endlessly inventive. Eager to tell the world about his ever-expanding collection of cars and jewels, Peewee shares “Wakanda,“ his new single. Inspired by his favorite auto, an all-black Panther, “Wakanda” is a spritely trap bouncer, produced by frequent Peewee collaborator Cicero of 808 Mafia. Alternating between a sing-song cadence and a nimble, but hard-charging bark, Peewee totes his ice, compares himself to T’Challa and Barack Obama, and artfully twists fly turns-of-phrase: “Pull up in the coupe, I’m in the Panther like Wakanda.”
“Wakanda” is the latest single from The Blue M&M 4, the MPA Bandcamp CEO’s upcoming mixtape, following the recently released “Fiji Water.”
Continuing a series that started in 2014 and had its most recent installment in 2017, The Blue M&M 4 is a carnival of off-kilter trap music, collecting some of the South’s biggest rappers and Atlanta’s most vital sound architects, including Zaytoven, Swagdot, and Spaghetti Jay, to populate Peewee’s world of money, weed, and codeine. Featuring appearances from Quavo, YFN Lucci, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and more, The Blue M&M 4 releases on August 23rd via MPA Bandcamp/EMPIRE.

The Background:
Peewee Longway, born Quincy Williams, is an Atlanta based artist known for his unorthodox flow and extraordinary use of intonation. Hailing from the tough streets of South Atlanta, Peewee, as his friends refer to him, grew up in a single parent home with one brother and one sister. Regardless of the obstacles he was presented with Peewee Longway still found a way to persevere and becomeknown as one of Atlanta’s most revered lyrical new artists. His debut mixtape Money, Pounds, Ammunition was released in March of 2013. Though most became familiar with Peewee Longway from his affiliation with his mentor, and close friend, Gucci Mane’s label 1017, he actually nurtured and created his own imprint, MPA Bandcamp Music Group. The next release, Running Around the Lobby, picked up steam and earned Peewee loyal fans that call themselves “Lobby Runners”. In turn this became the name to the third mixtape he put out that same year, in December of 2013.
Much like his peers that emerged from the Trap Music explosion in Atlanta, such Young Thug and Future, Peewee’s work ethic is phenomenal having released 10 projects since his debut in 2013. The last three projects Peewee released (Blue M&M King Size & MPA Vol. 2 & 3) were actually released in just months of each other. When asked, Peewee says that among his favorite Groups and Artists are the Hot Boyz, No Limit, Tupac, E40, and Gucci Mane. With hits like “Sneekin and Geekin,” “Cost to Be the Boss,” and “I Just Want the Money,” Peewee began to gain the attention of legends like LL Cool J, who named him his “favorite new artist”. He also began to record with fellow Artists, such as ASAP Rocky, E40, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Wale. Music Publications including The Fader, Complex, and XXL have also taken notice of the budding superstar, crediting his contribution to the evolution of Southern music.
