The Announcement:

Renowned artist and executive Terrence “Punch” Henderson formed his rap collective aroomfulofmirrors to be an antidote to the increasingly artificial music industry. Their music is borne of real-life, face-to-face collaboration and crafted by the 13 unique artistic personalities that make up the group.

Today, aroomfulofmirrors takes a major step on the road to their next album, releasing “World’s Gone Crazy,” an apocalyptic new single and accompanying music video. Produced by Grammy-winning sound architect Sounwave, “World’s Gone Crazy” is a searing missive that directly confronts society’s ills, including mass surveillance, A.I. art, ICE abductions, encroaching fascism, and much more. The song features vocal contributions from six of the collective’s members: Ichiban Don, who lays down the hook with a gruff, street preacher-style chant, Daylyt, Earlee Riser, Roberto Horns, Joose, and iAMLYRIC. Each rapper applies their own style, slicing through the beat’s haunting vocal samples and smacking percussion laser-like precision.

Directed by APlus, the video expands upon the song’s themes, presenting the action in a way that evokes the ever-present CCTV of our current surveillance state. In the video, ARFOM executes a heist, the camera switching between color and black-and-white as it alternates the collective’s perspective with the point-of-view of the law enforcement on their tails. By the end of the video, the collective has successfully completed their mission, and by shaking their surveillance tail, have regained their freedom.

“World’s Gone Crazy” is the first new single by aroomfulofmirrors this year, and paves the way for the collective’s first album since 2021. Formed over a series of studio sessions in late 2019, aroomfulofmirrors thrives on in-person, real life collaboration, rooted in potent, storytelling, and cinematic world-building. The music takes inspiration from real life experiences and reflection, creating something that feels human, and deeply intentional. Every piece of art created is a mirror, inviting you to see yourself within it—your joys, your fears, your dreams, and your darkest moments.
