Critical Praise for Nylo:
“We just might have discovered the next major R&B star.” -NYLON Magazine
“Every few years an artist comes along that stops you dead in your tracks. Disrupts you from what you’re doing. I had that moment about a year ago when clicking play on Nylo’s Soundcloud page.”- Fake Shore Drive
“This track feels like you’re spinning in a field with gold dust being poured over your head.”– Singers Room
“She presents a mix of sultry pop singer and R&B chops, a winning combination in 2013′s sonic landscape.” – Pigeons And Planes
The Song:
Future soul singer/songwriter Nylo shares her tender tribute to Audrey Hepburn, whom she considers “the most beautiful woman to ever grace the silver screen” with “Breakfast At Tiffany’s,” the third taste from her upcoming mixtape Indigo Summer, due July 16th. Her tenuous connection to that one faded lover she just can’t shake is accentuated by her delicate and raw falsetto, a haunting force that weaves with producer Jerry Good’s ethereal layers of instrumentation. The result is a tableau of thoughtfulness–prodding but shy, guarded but still willing to expose Nylo’s tempestuous soul. The track illustrates her uncanny ability to create an clear vibe in her own way–”Breakfast” holds a sense of dreamlike melancholy while still maintaining strands of hopefulness, avoiding the minor keys and instead relying on etheral vocals and lilting poetry to illustrate the tortured rawness of her expression. Rather than pain, Nylo shares a sense of meloncholy for the one she just can’t shake, despite years of separation: “Sometimes, when I dream, / it just feels so real.” and “Do you ever think of me now / it’s been a couple of years / but everyone once in a while / it still feels like you’re here.”
VICE’s Noisey premiered the track, noting how the combination of her vocals and the “lush, pillowy arrangements” leads the listener to reflect on life. Nylo gives a little guidance about the sort of reflection she is encouraging: “People, even more than things, need to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Never throw anyone out.” Nylo’s full project Indigo Summer will be released for free on July 16th.

Nylo Background:
Nylo is a singer/songwriter with a sound that can be best described as “Hybrid R&B,” including elements of rhythm and blues, hip-hop, EDM and classic soul. Born and raised in Chicago, she started writing snippets in her notebooks and setting them to the music she created on the piano in the neighborhood church. As her musical journey brought her out to Los Angeles, Nylo caught the eyes and ears of a few key bloggers in 2012 when she released her five song EP Memories Speak. She has garnered comparisons to Aaliyah and Lauryn Hill, and was called music’s best-kept secret. Nylo, however, won’t be a secret much longer, as she counts stars such as Nas and Mac Miller as fans and supporters. Nas even called Nylo his “favorite new artist.” She currently lives in California where she is putting the final touches on her next projects: Indigo Summer, which is slated for release on July 16th, and Indigo Rose, which will drop in the fall.
